I like watching the videos of how to play a game because so many games can look all blingy on the box and description of it, but can end up being marketing hype. There ARE plenty of games that STILL give me that feeling, but I don't want to be just buying stuff and then disappointed or have it taking up space on the shelf.
This was like a trip to the gaming store without leaving my house. Really enjoyed that. A couple of weeks ago, I was browsing the web for a game that has been out of print since it’s first and only printing in 2017. Lo and behold! Cape Fear Games still had two copies of it. It was a great moment! Used the code, got the discount, and the game arrived last week.
The recent expansion for 3000 Scoundrels, Double or Nothing, added a solo mode. I recently got the game and expansion, but have not had a chance to table it yet.
I love the variety of new games, it just means you can find games to match very specific criteria. I look for engine building solo-able games with a scenario/campaign mode, engaging art, non-table hog, 30-60 minute gameplay, and unique theme. 😅 Still plenty of options even with pretty specific criteria.
As for new games: Fairy Ring looks fun and Reef project. Daybreak caught my eye because of the hopeful theme but the actual play through I’ve seen don’t have me sold on it. So looking into Reef project a little more. Used games: Bitoku
CDMD is one of my favorite co-op games, and I'm not a big Cthulhu person either. It's dice chucking chaos while your characters get more powerful as they go crazy. It's about balance and risk management on a timer. I'm currently playing online with a few out of state friends in a house ruled campaign mode, and it's been a blast. I'd absolutely recommend you try before you buy given the size of the even the core box alone.
Thanks. Good to know. For some reason I remember hearing about this a while ago. Is this a reimplementation? or maybe that was just the crowdfunding buzz I heard.
@@BoardgamesforOne It went back to crowdfunding for season 3 and 4. Season 3 is the one you showed in the video. Annoyingly enough they're already at retail but US backers won't get their pledges until December probably.
@@morgaknightgames that explains it. Thanks. I do not like that system of backers getting their copy later. It discourages backing. I’m glad for things to hit retail, but the order feels distasteful.
Damn, they have a painted Mistwind KS edition!!! That would be an instant buy for me. Seas of Havoc gas a reprint campaign upcoming. 16:13 Bonfire, a very dry but well made euro.
Mistwind looked very busy, main reason it didn’t win out. Sometimes busy is quite good 🤷♂️. And I wish I had taken a closer look at the painted minis. To see what that means. Sundrop? Full color? I seem to recall full color.
@@BoardgamesforOne The game is actually a really chilled pickup and delivery. Painted in this case is a very sweet and unique Sundrop-Paint combo that somehow goes very well with the theme and minis.
@@BoardgamesforOne Oh gosh, I didn't mean that towards you personally and really sorry if it came off that way. I really enjoy your content which is why I watch. I mean the big picture.
I like Search for Planet X. I have only played it solo but I think it’s competitive to find the information multiplayer. I would like to try Flashpoint. Creature Caravan looks gorgeous and I have been reading about it on Instagram and it sounds fun. Really enjoyed the health and safety warning about metal vs wooden pieces. 😂

I get it. I watch how to plays sometimes just because they are calm and generally slow.

even better, a trip to the gaming store that didn't cost me any money 😂

I played Rebuilding Seattle recently, multiplayer and solo, and it was fantastic! Highly recommend. 🙂
That is two strong recommendations now. Thank ya

Any top games you’d recommend in those criteria?
These have been on the table recently :)
Lost Ruins of Arnak
Viticulture
Harvest
Legacy of Yu
Aeon’s End Legacy
I learned how to deck build with Arctic Scavengers... it is a great game.
😎 I’m looking forward to it myself

@@christagregg9363 nice. I just got daybreak out for a a few plays. Gameplay is great, but it’s a bit heavy on its message imo.
Creators of Islebound, Near and Far etc also made ROAM. It's a great game 😊
Ah the Button Shy game? Sweet

@@Biodelic Well I'll be back in the store in a week so . . . who knows what may happen.
OMG, I played Arctic Scavengers in 2009. I didn't know it was reprinted. It was one of the first deckbuilders but was sort of an indie game back then.
Ah an oldie. I like a deck builder so I’m excited for it. I’ll have to check when it was reprinted.
