You two exude Happiness, part of the reason I love watching your Channel. The other reason is that you’re living my dream. But at 73 & soon to be 74 and a widow for one year, that dream will probably never be realized. I’m so happy to watch your life, and live my dream vicariously through Waardenburg Family Farm. Loved the tour today. Blessings
It is amazing how much paint made a difference. Every room was warmed by the color change and is a perfect backdrop for all the wonderful cabinets. The before and after pics really show how much you have accomplished. Kudos to you both. You are both having so much fun in your retirement years. I'm so happy for you and way envious of that root cellar.
You both are so inspiring! What an incredible transformation to your lovely farm. One of the things I appreciate the most is your emphasis on family and what a beautiful heritage you are building there. The Lord bless you both!
I am new to your channel and am so glad to have found you!! 17 yrs ago we built a 2 bedroom reproduction saltbox here in the village, but also in the woods. It was a move from our pre-civil war 12 room farmhouse where we raised 4 children. We had a large vegetable garden that sustained us over the winter and we raised our own beef animals. We would barter 1/2 side of beef for a side of pork. While I worked as an ICU nurse I found time to make most of our bread and of course dozens of cookies. The girls rode and showed horses while the boys showed beef cows. They all played sports in school but had to come home first to do their chores. Now we make new memories with our great grand children in this new home with absolutely no regrets over the way we lived before. Thanks, you brought back so many memories.
So glad you found us...welcome to the farm. Thank you so much for the kind words. It sounds as though you, your children, grandchildren and now great-grand children have lived a beautiful life. I'm so glad we found this lifestyle, even though it's later in our lives. It's a wonderful way to live and I'm thrilled that the grandchildren are experiencing it with us. Thanks for watching.
Hello, your farmhouse is just as charming as you both, I love all the old touches you have added. It is like stepping back in time a job well done. Sadly , the 1800 farmhouse I grew up in has been bulldozed down and was replaced with a subdivision. I have seen many farmhouse houses in our area torn down by the crop farmers, it is heartbreaking. There is a 1910 farmhouse that is setting empty for 13 years now, it is 1200 square feet and has it original mahogany doors, trim, door handles , I would love to own it. Thank you for sharing your farmhouse, my favorite rooms is the cellar filled with labor of love and beautiful dry flowers and also the grow room. Blessings!
Thanks so much for the kind words. It is heart-breaking to see old farmhouses disappear. There is an old stone farmhouse near us that is due to be torn out. I keep wishing someone with a lot of money would swoop in and buy it in order to preserve it. Unfortunately, I think it's going to be a victim of 'progress'.....sad! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful farm, Beautiful family, beautiful people. Thank you for opening up your home and life. I always enjoy your videos. Your joy and upbeat attitude always shines through.
Beautiful house! ❤ I look forward to your videos so much! We are in the city but do have 12 chickens. I like to be kept busy but my husband, not so much. lol. I turned 59 in August but would love to move to a place like yours even at my age. :)
Thanks! We're so glad you enjoy our videos. When we bought the farm Brenda was 57 and Don was 60. It was the best decision for our entire family. We hope your dream comes true some day.
Wow! You are both really and truly blessed!! How awesome to be able to have such a spectacular place to call home! You are without a doubt living my dream! To be able to have my grandchildren reside on the same property and to watch them grow up every day what an incredible experience! Not only that but you are raising amazing food for them that you just can’t buy these days! Thank you for showing us around your home it truly is a treasure of history with some modern conveniences! Like you I couldn’t imagine living the way our ancestors did they had extremely hard lives but I believe a lot where great lives where they worked with their hands and they saw all the wonderful things they could accomplish with working from morning until night. Very few have the work ethics of our forefathers but I believe Don and Brenda do! Brenda you have an eye for beautiful old things and have a way to make everything look so warm and inviting. I’m not surprised that you felt at home after the first few days. I wish I had your sense of style and the ability to put them on such lovely display. Everything about your channel and life help to keep my dreams alive that one day hopefully sooner then later I will be living with my grandchildren at the moment I spend every other week living with them at their house and my two year old granddaughter likes to tell me that she’s missing me by saying Grandma come home! I asked her if she meant that Grandma should go to her home and she said yes! Needless to say she’s an incredibly bright little girl.🥰❤️ I’m so glad her parents enjoy having me come to help them with their busy lives. It’s such a joy to make homemade foods from scratch for them and knowing I’m nourishing their bodies. God bless and I wish you both continued great health and happiness in the coming years! Thanks again for the beautiful video to highlight your home I truly felt like a special guest which I’m sure all your visitors experience. ❤️🥰🍁🇨🇦🙏🏻
Thanks so much for the kind words. We are truly blessed to be so close to family. There is nothing better than spending time with grandchildren. I'm glad you are able to be with your granddaughter and hope there will be even more of that in your future. Thanks for watching!
I am so happy I found your channel. I am originally from Bucks County, PA and loved the old stone homes. I am now in NC and had a farm house built in 1927. Had 4 fireplaces, original red oak floors. Loved it but had to sell after my husband passed away. Thank, thank, thank you for doing a you tube channel
We're so glad you found us...welcome to the farm. So sorry about your husband and needing to sell your home. We're very happy that you find some joy from our channel. Thanks for joining us on our adventure!
I totally understand when you say your farmhouse felt like home. Our farmhouse was built in 1890, and then expanded in 1920. It has a craftsman style feel, blends old and modern, and we absolutely felt like this was where we should be. It’s on 35 acres, and it’s a lot to manage but we love it. We have a similar story, lived in the suburbs for many years to raise our 4 kids, but felt like we needed more after Covid. We moved our while our kids were still young, (teens) and it has been an amazing journey. I enjoy your channel and how similar y’all seem to be.
There are definitely similarities. We were thankful that we were on the farm before the pandemic. It actually gave us time to work in a very intensive way. It is a very rewarding and beautiful lifestyle. Enjoy your special home.
I appreciate your appreciation!!! It’s a wonderful, beautiful house…but you have made it your family HOME…with sustainable land! I hope your children and grandchildren will always appreciate the country life that will teach them the homesteading values that you have been learning. As an 81-year-old widow who’s life is kind of opposite of yours (homestead first 40 years of marriage, town life now) I love being able to follow your journey now…thankful for technology that brings memories to me and others. I can imagine the thankfulness in your home next week! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thanks SO much for the kind words. We also hope the grandkids grow to love this lifestyle too. We're glad you enjoy our videos. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
So beautiful, practical and homey. I love it! It's a treasure. It makes me so happy to know you are preserving our American farmstead lifestyle. Best wishes for your holiday season.
I adore your home....it's so warm and cozy. Old furniture is my favorite as well. It just has so much character. Thank you for the tour!!! ❤ This is a dream for me as well and I just love watching all that you do to bring the old farmhouse back to life! 😊
Thanks!!! It really is a dream come true for me to be living in an old house. We lived the suburban life for 35 years, but this is definitely where we belong now. We're glad you enjoyed the tour.
YOu have done a great job. When we bought our farm, so much of it is old and needs to be redone. We had major electrical, plumbing, a total redo of the downstairs (took it down to the studs) because of mold. Our favorite room is our great room that has the wood burning fireplace insert and windows on all sides to overlook the lake and the sunsets over the lake. We still have so much to do, but funny thing is, we are content if nothing else gets done. We always remind ourselves of our farming heroes Aunt Margie and Uncle Gordon who were content all the days of their lives in their farmhouse.
You guys are the best! We're finally getting some rain here in upstate NY. We've been afraid to use our woodstoves as there have been so many large fires in the area. Looks like we can light them up. Yay!!! And snow is on the way! I have just designed my spring "Potager" Garden, that's a french medieval garden, when translated it means "for the soup pot". It includes everything from herbs, flowers and veggies. Kind of similar to your Market Garden. Looking forward to resting this winter - then kicking into high gear. You both are so blessed with lots of loving family members around you, and of course you inspire us to follow our dreams and add more love to the world. Sending hugs. . .and can't wait for the next video! xoxo!
Thanks! We are also finally getting much-needed rain. We also appreciate the 'down time' in the winter and preparing for next garden season. We are very blessed and thankful for our family and our farm. Thanks for the kind words. We hope that we bring some inspiration to people. Thanks for watching!
I am struggling to move from the forever home (arts and crafts, Wright/Stickley style) we built to the family farm with the 1800s farmhouse. It hasn't been remodeled since the mid-century when the 2nd generation took a bedroom and made 2 closets, a bathroom, and added electricity(?). UGH! I just couldn't see how I was going to make it work. This tour of your lovely home with the just purchased pictures and keeping components like the old timbers and brick helps me with the steps for remodeling. It also helps in thinking about adding to a side or two. I can now see possibilities. Thank you for sharing your journey and how you brought it back to life "farm style"!
Wow, that will be an adventure. I hope that things we have done can help in some way. There may be ways to put on sideadditions in a way that they look more like they belong on the farmhouse. It would be a lot of work, but could be very rewarding and give you a beautiful "new" old home. Good luck.
Sooo beautiful!! Your hard work and artistry show! My husband was a 4th generation full-time farmer until we were 40 and the Lord called us to the city to be a part of and serve with a church. That was 20 years ago and we feel He is calling us back to acreage to grow a garden, have animals, etc. We have always canned alot and purchased pork from our Amish friend. We LOVE following your journey. We have been watching for several years for the right small farm and home for this next season of life. One thing we look for is a house with a bedroom and full bath on the main floor so we can remain in the home even as life changes and a bedroom on the second floor becomes more difficult to manage. I thought of a bedroom when you showed your parlor. It might be something to consider for that room for the future. Thank you for sharing here, we love your videos and seeing a bit of your lives and hearts. God Bless!!
Thanks for the kind words. If God calls you to the city, you go to the city and if He's calling you back to the farm life, he'll provide the perfect property. The two rooms we didn't show you have a room that was the mother-in-law's bedroom. There is also a handicapped bathroom. That was definitely a factor in our long-term time on the farm. It's good planning ahead to have that in mind. Thanks for watching!
@@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764 you are all set!! That's perfect! Thank you for the encouragement. We pray for wisdom, discernment, and clear direction and keep listening!!
Both of you are a joy to watch! I love the transformation of your farm too! Your furniture choices are perfect! I grew up on a 1845 farm in the 70’s and I sometimes wish I could go back and make it work. My father did much the same as you have done with livestock and gardening, but my parents failed to see that they could make some side money selling their excess. Sadly, too much water has passed under the bridge for my age, as they say, but happily a 20-something is revitalizing that old farm. He is keeping the home and barns, and is dedicated to keeping it rural. My other half isn’t keen on farming or gardening, so I’m living vicariously through your adventures. Keep up the great work and I hope I can convince my husband to do a drive to PA during your farm stand season to buy some of your produce and jams.
Thanks so much for the kind words. It's good to hear that the farmily farm is going to be restored and kept rural. The farming life definitely needs both partners to really make it work. We're glad you get some joy from our videos. Let us know if you venture our way....we'd love to show you around the farm.
Thank you for sharing your Beautiful home with us. We are new to your channel and look so forward to watching all the past and future adventures of your farm life. We are in our early 60"s and live in a big metro area. We are ready to move to a simpler way of life. Yore story is encouraging us to take the leap. Thanks again and GOD BLESS
We're so glad you found us....welcome to the farm. We highly recommend this lifestyle. While it can be a lot of hard work it is SO rewarding. We are glad that we 'took the leap'. Best of luck!
Loved the tour of your home! What a wonderful blessing to be able to buy your dream farm with family so close!! You both have made your home so beautiful and cozy for yourselves and family 💕 I subbed tonight after stumbling across your channel 😊
Thank you for giving us a tour of your beautiful home❤️ I think putting our own “ historical mark” on our home is a great respect to the house. I follow a lot of “ modern farmhouse“ accounts and enjoy them, but historically accurate to our taste is what I truly love about having an old home. I look forward to your weekly videos , Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! 🦃
THANKS! I love how you put it " historically accurate to our taste". We can never get it like it was in 1840, but we try to bring pieces of that into it, while making it to our liking. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
You two look so happy and in love! I can tell you have so much respect for each other and try really hard to make each others wishes come true! We bought part of an old dairy farm in Missouri. We absolutely love it and we are still working on ours but it will get the way we want it if we don’t fall apart before then! Lol Lots of work!
Ps I am so wanting to put a roof on our front porch. I’m very happy we have the large wooden deck but I can’t put hardy any decor because it gets rained on and dirty!
I love your porch! I have always wanted a home with a huge front porch and railing. I get to live through you two and your farmhouse:) I can't say that I love any one room because I love the whole house!! lol
Thanks so much for the kind words. The front porch is such a beautiful place to sit. It's great in the mornings as the sun comes up. Keep dreaming....maybe there's a big front porch in your future.
Thanks! We're glad you enjoy the videos. You mentined that we had other similarities. We've been amazed since starting teh channel with how many other people out there are living the same lifestyle. It's a great way to live.
@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764 it's been an interesting life. We raise quarter horses that the children and grands barrel race and I have dairy goats. We enjoy traveling when we can which is tough with a farm. We have been doing the farm life for almost 30 yrs so wanting to slow down a bit. 😅 Your place is fabulous! Keep the content coming. 😍
Thanks! We're thrilled with how it has all turned out. I get ideas from many different places, but Pinterest always has pictures to get me started with a new project.
I love seeing all the things you guys do in your beautiful home! I love history!! Do you miss your cabin or are you happier having the everyday home you have now? My husband and I think about this should we move to a bigger home or buy a vacation property., 🤔. Sorry I have no wisdom to impart but love your videos please keep them up!
Thanks for the kind words. There are definitely times we miss the cabin, but in a way it prepared us for the farm. Good luck with whichever direction you take in the future. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this dream come true video. I’m thinking that it’s not so much the farm that makes it home but the abundance of the gift of family that you made with the love of your life that and the love shared by all that makes it home. I love that the grands have their own beautiful bedrooms and they feel free to wander the farm as an extension of their home. You are blessed. ❤
Thanks! Yes, we are extremely blessed and very thankful for this farm and the fact that the entire family is close by. In this day and age, that's a great gift.
We bought it 5 years ago and it's taken that long to do what we've done. We had to do a lot of work on the farm/garden/animal side of things which took up a lot of our time during the spring, summer and fall. The winter is when we were able to put time into the house projects. We love how it turned out. Thanks for watching.
@@AlexWaardenburg Point taken... In 1880 they had to record dates by writing in stone or plaster. Today we have digital records to be viewed by anyone...not just those who are on site.
I am 61 my husband 64, we owe 40 acres it’s very secluded not close to anything. We just retired and we are putting a house on it. We want to live a different life style for retirement ❤

Love it. Went from cold & sterile to warm & inviting….

Everything looks beautiful --- i think my favorite part of the house is the kitchen (the eating area & the working area) & the pantry.
I love how it has turned out. It has taken the full 5 years to get it to this point. I, too, love my little, old pantry.

What a fun "retirement". The home looks beautiful. But family does make a home. Can't wait to see the next improvements.
It's definitely not a traditional retirement, but we are loving it. Thanks for watching.

You have an amazing eye for paint color, I love it so much! Thank you for fueling my dreams of restoring an old house!
Thanks for the kind words. Best of luck with your old house.
Your home is stunning you’re living my dream! Love and blessings from NJ.
Thanks so much! We are loving our life.
My grandparents were born in 1888,1891,1899 so I grew up with their long ago stories ❤
Those stories are priceless. I wish I had listened closer to my grandparents while they were still alive.
Loved this video, the changes are gorgeous and enhance the charm of that beautiful home!
Thanks! We are thrilled with how it has all turned out. Thanks for watching.
You guys are my new favorite channel! Looking forward to new videos. Thanks!
Thanks! Welcome to the farm.
Loved the tour of your home! What a wonderful blessing to be able to buy your dream farm with family so close!! You both have made your home so beautiful and cozy for yourselves and family 💕 I subbed tonight after stumbling across your channel 😊
We're so glad you found us....welcome to the farm. We are very blessed and we are grateful for having the family so close. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the kind words. Your farm sound like a great adventure. A front porch is definitely wonderful.
Love all the cozy changes/updates. Great video!
Thanks! We're loving it.
Absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing! God bless and Merry Christmas from Montana.
Thank you for the kind words. Merry Christmas to you and Happy New Year.
Absolutely gorgeous 😊
Thanks!!
Love your home. Thank you for sharing. 💚
Thanks! We truly loveour old farmhouse.
Love you guys. Have a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm starting to get the itch to decorate for Christmas.
Such a great job! Hubby and i enjoy your channel so much!
Fantastic job, love it. A dream for me. ❤
Thanks!
Hi ! your home is Beautiful ! I live in a 1920 house . I just happen to come across your channel. And i added you

I love what you completed to your vintage home. It's just beautiful. Where do you get all your ideas? Thank you very much for sharing.
Thanks! We're thrilled with how it has all turned out. I get ideas from many different places, but Pinterest always has pictures to get me started with a new project.
Just found your channel and I love it! Oh how i would love just a little farm. It wont happen but definitely my dream!
So glad you found us...welcome to the farm.
Great video ❤
Thanks!
Beautiful
Thanks!
Amazing 🤩
Thanks!
You two are too sweet❤
Awww...thanks for the kind words.
If you have contentment you have wealth! Congratulations on creating a house that is also a home. Not every residence is….
Very true. I always want my home to feel warm and welcoming to everyone. Thanks for the kind words.
How long did it take to finish this house?
We bought it 5 years ago and it's taken that long to do what we've done. We had to do a lot of work on the farm/garden/animal side of things which took up a lot of our time during the spring, summer and fall. The winter is when we were able to put time into the house projects. We love how it turned out. Thanks for watching.
I love chickens too. I have drawer pulls that are red roosters from Hobbie lobby
My grandkids get a kick out of all of the chickens around the house.
❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
I use to can ..Sort of miss it .Hard work though
It is hard work, but very rewarding.
9:40 Whoever buys your farmhouse from you can just reference your UA-cam videos as historical records of when you made your changes.
Hopefully it will stay in the family. 😁
@@AlexWaardenburg Point taken... In 1880 they had to record dates by writing in stone or plaster. Today we have digital records to be viewed by anyone...not just those who are on site.
❤
I am 61 my husband 64, we owe 40 acres it’s very secluded not close to anything. We just retired and we are putting a house on it. We want to live a different life style for retirement ❤
It's a great way to spend retirement years. Enjoy!!!
Wow you’re home is stunning and what a beautiful home. Amazed at the 2 cellars and how Brenda has filled them. Wonderful watch.
Thanks! We're thrilled with how it all turned out and since we grow most of our own food, we really utitlize the different food storage options.
