I just started canning 5 years ago when we bought the farm. I'm very thankful for the beautiful space to store all of the canned food. Thanks for watching from Cherryville NC
Fantastic tour of the larder. WOW! Am very inspired to expand my thoughts on what is possible with canning. Your grandchildren are so fortunate to see and taste homegrown vegetables and fruits, to see the process of planting, harvesting, canning and contribute hands-on. Kudos to you and yours. Subscribed.
That is to die for!! Amazing!! I love the the beauty it shows older pantry!! You have done so much canning and I am sure hubby helps a lot! Really this a dream come true true! Ty so much for this video!! When you put in the beautiful paper it just put the space look over the top! I happened upon this video and have subscribed!
We're so glad you found us....welcome to the farm. We are both thrilled with how the larder turned out, both how it looks and how much food we've been able to preserve. It really is a dream come true. Thanks for watching!
You are amazing with your dreams come true. Tons of work but still “got it gal”. I will enjoy your site along with my other homesteaders. We moved to a small area outside our small town in iowa named the Homestead. Historically a government and churches funded for immigrants to the coal mining area where about 40 homes were built and along with 3 acres of land a hog horse cow etc were affordable for families to own and provide for their families very interesting and still thriving for new generations .
1st time to your channel, I'm not even 2 minutes into your video yet and I had to stop to tell you what a wonderful larder and root cellar! But I'm sure you already know that. It's a dream of mine to have something like yours. My German Grandparents had a very similar set up to yours. I have fond childhood memories of playing down there with my cousins! Sometimes we would sneak a nibble of 'samples' hoping no one would notice 😂🤣. Thanks for reminding me to think about those fond wonderful childhood memories today!
We're so glad you found us...welcome to the farm. We're very happy that we reminded you of childhhod memories. We're hoping that we are forming those memories for our grandkids.
@@stacylandis9806 I pre-soak my beans overnight, fill a quart jar half full with them, add in half a cup of diced ham, quarter cup of carrots, celery and onion, top to a 1 inch headspace with chicken stock, salt and pepper to taste and pressure can for the time required for meat, in my neck of the woods that's 90 minutes.
I'm so in love with this space. I live in S. Florida so no basements or cellars here. But it's my heart's desire to live somewhere with a cellar like yours. ❤❤❤

Thanks so much for the encouragement. We worked hard for the last 5 years to get the farmhouse looking like it is. We are very thankful for such a beautiful old farmhouse.
You are blessed with a. Wonderful larder. I was raised going to my grandparents cellar as a young child. Loved it! You have made it beautiful. I can a great deal as well I canned a Turkey Corn Chowder this year, we love it! Great meal in a jar. Thank you for the video

You are just delightful to watch with beautiful energy. I like the ease of your banter with your husband. This is my first time seeing your postings. What a dream larder and root cellar. You have done such an amazing job setting it up. And you are so inspirational with all your canning. Very delicious combos. I am happy to have come across your site.

New to your channel, love your pantry and root cellar. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. I'm in southeast Texas and we cannot have basements or root cellars because of the ground water that would fill them up. I would so love to have them tho.
Welcome to the farm. I'm so sorry you can't have cellars. I always wanted an old farmhouse with a root cellar and luckily we found one 5 years ago. We're both loving it.
@@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764 when we moved across the state 35 years ago as a young couple, I sooooo wanted an old home to redo. I just adore your basement!! 😍. It is so darling the way you have your canned goods stored and decorated with dried flowers and antiques 😍😍😍 I love your new labels too. Those are perfect! We have a Civil War era farmhouse in Maryland and I’ve been working on our basement too. We have a problem with our root cellar flooding. My husband said the exhaust pipe is buried from it being so old ….but he has plans to expose it so that it can be used again. Thank you for sharing your lovely space.❤️❤️
Luckily we've never had a problem with water in the root cellar. We did have to put in a ventilation system because the ven was covered up by an 1880 addition. We did it mostly for the radon, but it solved a lot of problems. I hope you are able to get your root cellar fixed and functioning. One of the best things we did in both the larder and root cellar was the white washing. We have a video about that, if you're interested. Enjoy your old farmhouse!!!
You are a inspiration to this 56 yr. old. It is just my husband and I and I just started gardening and canning the beginning of this year. I try to can something every weekend or do something during the week. If I am not to tired from my two jobs. Love your channel.
It would be hard to have time or energy with two jobs. I'm fortunate that this is my job. Growing and preserving your own food is so rewarding. It's wonderful to be eating food that doesn't have any chemicals in it....plus its delicious.
Thank you for sharing part of your story with us. You asked what to put in jars for easy meals, I personally do a lot of ingredients or single variety canning. One of the things I'm learning is how to utilize what we have in storage, on hand, for a time when I don't have time to cook, illness, or emergency situation. I have put up 21 qts of ground beef/onion/mushroom in bone broth (from our butchered beef this year) for easy meals, open, heat, add corn starch or flour to make a gravy then pour over potatoes, rice or noodles. Then have a veg, salad, applesauce (also canned) on the side. Next on my list is taco meat for taco, burrito, enchiladas and soup. Everything is in the freezer taking up space so as I get time, I thaw it out then can it for the shelf. In the summer if it's too hot or I don't have time I put my fruit in the freezer then take it out thaw and make jelly/jam during the winter months. My freezers are always in rotation the same as my pantry/larder/root cellar. Each year I try to expand my knowledge. I'm learning the art of fermentation next year in my journey of self sufficiency. Wish me luck!
I've done plain ground beef, but I'll definitely ahve to try the taco meat. I also have a bunch of fruit in the freezer that I can turn into jam when I have time. So, you have a pantry, larder and root cellar....that's great! I haven't tried fermentation....I'll have to look into it. Good luck with your new venture.
When we first came to see the farmhouse, we didn't know there was a root cellar. I remember walking down into the basement and seeing more steps going down. I was THRILLED about a root cellar. I've wanted to live in an old house all my life and at 58 that dream finally came true. I hope your dream comes true too.
I would love to can a ton of different jams and jellies, but no one would eat it here. I make tons of cookies and candies around the holidays at the end of the year. After that, we are all sugared out until the end of the following year. Your larder looks beautiful.
Between us and all of our grandkids we go through a lot of jam. I also sold quite a bit at the farmstand last summer. Thanks for the compliment...I LOVE my larder.
I hadn't thought of it that way. It is really rewarding to look at it all and realize that we grew it all. This was our goal and we're just about there. Thanks for the encouragement.
Good morning first time I found you guys on UA-cam. Everything is fantastic. Looks so nice sure is a lot of work but it’s beautiful and I know it’s gonna be delicious to your family. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed it.❤
This was a very nice video to watch. Very relaxing. So many youtubers use fast speed in the videos, and to me, that's not relaxing to watch. What a great way to live.
Looks wonderful; thank you for sharing this tour. It’s come a long way since I watched a couple years ago and you were still figuring out what to do with the space.
Yes, it's definitely come a LONG way. We're both thrilled with how it's all turned out. We hope to do a total farmhouse tour in the next few weeks. We've done a candlight Christmas tour, but I think it might be fun for viewers to see how much the farmhouse has changed.
Just found your channel and really enjoyed this video. I'm fascinated by canning as it's something we don't do in the UK and I follow several homesteading and canning channels. I'm always impressed by the time and dedication that goes into this type of prepping and watching this was no exception. Your pantry is beautiful.
You asked about recipes I have two suggestions I can every year. The first is Mongolian Beef by " Paul's rule of thumb". The second is Almost Sweet Baby rays BBQ Sauce by "The kneady homesteader" both are awesome. I also can Potatoes such a time saver. And meatball/ meatloaf. No dairy and instead of breadcrumbs i use dehydrated mushrooms. It makes it food safe I think Rose Red taught that but not positive. God bless you and I love your farm.
Try the food saver lids and a manual brake bleeder- it's an idea the channel Rain Country Homestead (on UA-cam) came up with. You use them to suck the air out of jars for dry goods, so they last longer.
You can use a vacuum sealer to pull any additional oxygen out of your jars to ensure no moisture can cause damage. They have the covers that you put over your lids and then hook into a hand held or a hose to your vacuum sealer and remove the oxygen that way. Love your home you are very fortunate! God bless!🥰❤️🇨🇦🍁🙏🏻
I am so glad the organizing and cleaning is finished. It was a pretty big mess before I started. We are both very thankful for our old farmhouse larder and root cellar.
I was surprised by how amazing it was. We actually had to pick our nectarines before fully ripe because the birds were snacking on them. Most of them ripened beautifully off the trees. I hope we get a LOT more next year. Thanks for watching.
This popped up in my feed and I'm so glad it did. Now subscribed and get to catch up on all your videos. I made jams with nectarines this year too and everyone loves them! I enjoyed it too just they are easier to work with than peaches, lol (but peach jam is my favorite), and I already searched for strawberry lemonade marmalade, lol
I'm so glad you found us....welcome to the farm. Yes, the nectarind jam was so much easier....the recipe had me leave the peels on. They are so tender, you can't tell. It think they actually added to the flavor. I'm already looking forward to next summer and hoping we get a lot more nectarines. Thanks for watching! Enjoy the strawberry lemonade marmalade...it's delicious!
You are an inspiration! Lovely larder; thank you for sharing! 😍 I am also experimenting with meals in a jar. Some of my favorites so far are chili, chicken soup, and ham and bean stew. I made some in pint jars for when I just need a single serving, and that has been very convenient. I definitely want to make beef stroganoff now!!
Such a beautiful larder! You got a great deal on that beautiful sampler. Little Mountain Ranch has been canning a lot of ready to eat meals. Check out her pantry tour for some new ideas like chili base.

I've made sausage potato kale soup, but never thought of canning it. I will now!!! Thanks for all of the yummy ideas. I have lots of canning ahead of me.

New sub here, from Quebec. I love making canned meals, beef strogonoff is a favorite, but i also do pulled pork, anf this year i did sticky chicken wings, and a recipe called maple glazed chicken that i canned , we tried one jar of it last week, and omg will be making lots more!
@@enna4986 this is what i do . the base recipe is for 4 chicken breasts, so depending on the size , it makes 2 or 3 quarts .which is all I made , because I never make large quantities when its the first time ;) 4 chicken breats, cut in strips , packed raw in jars. Filling devided between jars 2tbs apple cider vinegar 2 small red onions or shallots sliced 1tbsp minced garlic 1/2 cup maple syrup 3 sweet bell peppers cut in strips I mix all the filling then split between jars Pressure can 90 minutes Pour it out on a sheet pan to cook ( 350f) In oven. I served it with a side of rice , but you can add butternut squash to the baking sheet too! If its not for canning then just make it and put it in the oven!
Oh, thank you for the extremely kind words. I am truly enjoying this lifestyle. I'm happy that I'm at the age/stage of life that I can provide a lot of home-grown, home-canned food for our family. Thanks for watching!
I love everything that you have done. I have been looking in to freeze dried meals that you can just add water. Have you had freeze dried chicken or beef and then added water? I was also wondering what kind of freeze dryer you got. Everyone I have looked at are so expensive:(
I haven't freeze dried any meat or meals yet. I hope to do that in the future. Yes, they are all expensive. We bought the Harvest Right. They seem to have a bit of a monoply on freeze dryers. We're very happy withit. It works for us because the entire family uses it.
Nice pantry! I can Farmer Soup. It’s a vegetable beef soup but with ground beef. I like bean soups too. So easy. Abbey Vergerin (?) is a young woman on You Tube who makes meals and soups in a jar. Her videos are really simple and to the point. 😉 I can a lot of ground beef too. It’s great for spaghetti, shepherds pie & tacos. I also can a ton of chicken we find on sale. Great for pot pies, chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes. I can some in half pints for chicken salad bc my husband doesn’t eat it.
Love your Larder! Curious when you do raisin applesauce do you process the same as regular applesauce? Was also thinking on making cranberry applesauce also.
I'm wondering about the walls of your larder and root cellar. Are they painted with lime wash paint to prevent mold growth? Very cool old house! Thanks for sharing. BTW do you have suggestions for those who eat a keto or carnivore diet? I have so much from my gardens that I no longer eat. I have sop many fruit jams, jellies, syrups and fruits canned. Also sweet potatoes, squash, and beans, and baked beans, soups, broths, that my family will eat. I have taken on pressure canning meat dishes, and plain meats so my freezer doesn't get over packed. Any ideas for a transitioning family diet would be appreciated. I can beef birria for tacos. A multi purpose meat red sauce for several dishes that I found in an old farm journal, and my spaghetti sauce with chunk beef ground beef or meatballs. This is my meal list pretty much. Hope it helps.
@@maryloomis8075 Yes, we applied lime wash/white wash for several reasons. You are correct, the lime does prevent mold growth and it is the historic treatment used in old homes and even barns. The lime also allows the masonry (stone and mortar) to breathe. On the other hand, paint traps moisture in causing damage to the wall. Thanks for watching!
To get them off the main cluster I take the cluster and simply hit it against the side of a deep bucket until most of the berries are off. Some get banged up, but I'm going to process them in some way so I don't mind. After I get them off of the main branch, I just keep them submerged under water and strain all of the other 'stuff' off the top. I just keep putting fresh water in until there isn't much floating to the surface. It takes a while to get most of it. I don't think you can ever get it all.
Hi Guys! Is your root cellar ventilating system solar powered?? I just love everything that you do. .. sooo helpful. . .especially for me. . . just starting out on a 35 acre 1920's former poultry farm. I have decided that I'm going to ask Santa for "a Don", so I can be Brenda in my future!!! Haaa!! You guys are the BEST!! xoxoxo
The ventilation system is electric, but we have enough solar panels to supply all of our electricy, plus some. We have several videos about the solar projects. How exciting to be starting out on a new adventure. Yes, Don is a wonderful husband!!! I'm very thankful for him.
I planted cucumber seeds and waited. Nothing so I planted plants. Then the seeds started growing. I had cukes everywhere. I canned over 50 qts of pickles.
I cant find the Dry to can recipe > but Senate Bean soup!!! Ham Hocks, White Navy Beans! Small diced potatoes - it's excellent for canned prepared meals. Also when just doing canned meat.. use seasonings like teriyaki, or in bone broth for nutrient dense meats to just heat up and serve over instant mashed potatoes or rice. BEANS .. put washed dried beans in with onions and bone broth, seasonings to choice - then the beans are ready to heat up with meats and rice!!
Beautiful!!!! Just a heads up, don't store apples with the taters.... the apples are still releasing a gas , which will speed up spoilage. We do not put apples in our root cellar at all we vent ours / have air circulation. Why risk losing your produce? You can create another area elsewhere...ie: an old concrete well house with some shelving/apple bins, plus other creative options.... Enjoy your bounty. We love our old farmstead underground root cellar ❤
That's wonderful that you have an old root cellar. There just aren't that many around these days. We mentioned that we have a powered ventilation system that replaces all of the air every day. It should prevent a build up of gas. This is the first year we've had enough apples to store so it will be a bit of an experiment before we have even more next year.
To share my chicken soup base... I add egg noodles or rice (even left overs from a previous meal) to this upon opening. 16 cups chicken stock 3 cups diced cooked chicken (about 1 3-lb chicken) 1-1/2 cups diced celery (about 2 stalks) 1-1/2 cups sliced carrots (about 3 medium) 1 cup diced onion (about 1 medium) Salt Pepper Per Jar 1 1/2 cups chicken bite size ¾ cup Carrots, sliced ½ cup Celery, sliced ½ cup Corn Kernels ¼ cup Onion, chopped 1 tsp salt ½ tsp pepper, fresh ground 1/2 tsp Poultry Seasoning Pinch each of Ground Rosemary and Thyme Chicken stock - about 10 quarts (I make from Better Than Bullion Roasted Chicken Base and water to a boil) 4 quart or 8 pint jars with lids and bands Cook chicken in a skillet until light in color (I brown a little for added taste). Make chicken broth (or from can/box) and heat to boil. Add warm chicken, vegetables in order listed, seasonings, and broth to 1 inch headspace. Debubble, add more broth if needed, and place lids and rings. Process quarts at 90 minutes and pints for 75 minutes after steam begins to rise and air vent lock pops up.
@@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764 I forgot that I also had about 2 tablespoons of flour to the cold broth when I open in it, whisk it, and then heat it to make a soup or gravy stock. If I use egg noodles, I add them with about 2 cups of water and it will make it thicker.

Subscribed.
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Welcome to the farm!
What an accomplishment!
Love and dedication ♥️
Thanks! I love walking down into the larder to get food....it makes me smile.
I love making baked beans in a jar! We do our own version of beans on toast and put it on homemade sourdough.
That sounds yummy. Thanks for watching!
Your pantry is BEAUTIFUL, still looking for your Salsa recipes!
Hi, Just sent the link.
Thanks for the kind words. Where you are living sounds wonderful.
I really enjoyed this video. I also got some new canning ideas, thanks.
I'm so glad you got some new ideas. I LOVE trying new things. Enjoy!
What a lovely storage area
Thanks! We're very thankful to have our old farmhouse and such an amazing larder.
My favorite meal in a jar is ham and navy bean soup, with carrots, celery, and onion. Served with cornbread.
That does sound yummy...thanks!
Do you have a recipe? I am at 6000' so I have to pressure can at 15# for a little longer.
I’m headed to find the beef stroganoff canning recipe ❤
Beautiful larder !
You will love it!!! Thanks for watching.
I'm so in love with this space. I live in S. Florida so no basements or cellars here. But it's my heart's desire to live somewhere with a cellar like yours. ❤❤❤
I'm also in love with the space. I love walking down there to get food....I smile every time. For a cellar, come on up and live in Pennsylvania. :)
Thanks! You made me feel sooo. much better with the new jars on the floor! My husband is finally understanding how I just don't have time while canning to rearrange every year because of different items and quantities. I like your new labels. My husband put chalkboard strips so I can erase and write from year to year what is where. I have a basement, but really need a root cellar since I'm in the South. Absolutely beautiful! I'm a new subscriber. You popped up in my feed today. Will enjoy watching you this winter. I don't have time from March-November. So I go crazy Dec-Feb watching people can
Thanks so much! We're glad you found us...welcome to the farm. Yes, March-November is too crazy to do much. Fall/Winter is when I catch up on all of the stuff that got neglected during gardening season. I'm glad my dis-organization helped you...😆
Wow , what a nice pantry-larder you have thanks for all of your inspiration; wish I had a place like you have beautiful !❤
Thanks for the kind words. I would be that the memories of your grandarent's cellar are wonderful memories. We're hoping that we are creating some of those memories for our grandkids. I'll look into the Turkey Corn Chowder...thanks!
We're so glad you found us...welcome to the farm. Thanks for all of the kind words. We love our family farm and enjoy sharing it with others.
Stunning!
Thanks! We've put a lot of work into these two rooms and we're thrilled with how they turned out.
Love the dried flowers especially the statice ❤
Thanks. We grew the statice in our garden this year. I'll be growing it every year from here on out...it's beautiful and very easy to grow.
You did wonders to a daunting job! Your excitement on your hard work was all over your face! It looks beautiful!
It was a lot of work, but I LOVE the finished product. It's such a joy to walk down into that room everytime I need something. (which is several times a day.) Thanks for the encouragement!
Greetings from East Texas! I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of your Larder and Root Cellar. Your canned goodies look delicious
Hello, Texas...welcome to the farm. Thanks for the kind words.
Such a beautiful space! Thank you for the tour!
Thanks! We have put so much work into this old farmhouse and we're thrilled with how it turned out.
Love the look of this preparedness! Well done guys.
Thanks!! It's a great feeling to have that much home-grown, home-canned food on hand.
I had found one to be moved, $2500 delivered and my hubby said no that we were going to build. I literally bawled and bawled. But it did no good lol we built instead. And to this day he tells me he is sorry for not letting me have the old victorian home I had found. I'm over it, now. But ohhhh how I love old houses.
@@BroqueCowgirlHomestead Oh, I'm so sorry you weren't able to get that house. Maybe there is still an old house in your future??? We didn't get ours until after Don retired.
@@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764 No, I am content where I'm at. We built on property that's been in the family since 1850. So I'm not moving. I don't ever want to move again.
You sure are an inspiration. That used to be my joy to have my buttery full and ready to feed my family for the winter. Enjoy every minute while you can. Thanks for sharing.
I never heard of that term, but it fits. It is an amazing feeling to walk down and see all of that food that we can eat over the next year. Thanks for watching!
I just adore your basement!! 😍. It is so darling the way you have your canned goods stored and decorated with dried flowers and antiques 😍😍😍
I love your new labels too.
It's so beautiful ❤ I'm so inspired...I wish I have a root cellar, but maybe one day.
Very nice. That was like going through the growing season season with you again, but from the other end.
I really enjoyed it.❤
We're so glad you found us. Welcome to the farm. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.
Beautiful ❤ Excellent job
Thanks....it's an amazing feeling to walk down there and see all of that food. I'm loving our way of life.
@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764 Yes it's absolutely rewarding 🙏 ❤️ and a lot of time and hard work.
This was a very nice video to watch. Very relaxing. So many youtubers use fast speed in the videos, and to me, that's not relaxing to watch. What a great way to live.
It's an amazing way to live. We bought the farmhouse 5 years ago after Don retired and we are loving it.
Absolutely the best tour ever!!!! So beautiful and functional. Great job you two. Jean Colorado USA
Thanks! We are very thankful for our 1840 farmhouse...especially the larder and root cellar. Thanks for watching from Colorado.
Beautiful!
Thanks!
WOW!!! What a calming video to watch for me.. I so appreciate your YT channel.. What blessings to have
Thanks so much. We are VERY grateful for our old farmhouse!
Just found your channel and really enjoyed this video. I'm fascinated by canning as it's something we don't do in the UK and I follow several homesteading and canning channels. I'm always impressed by the time and dedication that goes into this type of prepping and watching this was no exception. Your pantry is beautiful.
Thanks! I hadn't canned until 5 years ago when we bought the farm. It's a great way to preserve the things we grow in the garden. Thanks for watching.
THANK YOU for the suggestions. i'll definitely check them out.
Try the food saver lids and a manual brake bleeder- it's an idea the channel Rain Country Homestead (on UA-cam) came up with. You use them to suck the air out of jars for dry goods, so they last longer.
I'll check that out! I had bought a gadget that is supposed to suck out the air, but it doesn't work very well. Thanks for the tip.
I bought a vacuum sealer, but it doesn't work very well. Is there one that you can recommend???
How beautiful ❤
Thanks! We've been working on the farmhouse since buying it 5 years ago and we're thrilled with how these rooms turned out.
Just beautiful. Now I need to work on mine more. 😆
I am so glad the organizing and cleaning is finished. It was a pretty big mess before I started. We are both very thankful for our old farmhouse larder and root cellar.
Nectarine jam is my family's favourite jam and i have 1 Nectarine jam left on the shelf. Nectarine's on the tree just waiting for them to ripen 😋
I was surprised by how amazing it was. We actually had to pick our nectarines before fully ripe because the birds were snacking on them. Most of them ripened beautifully off the trees. I hope we get a LOT more next year. Thanks for watching.
Hello from South Louisiana 😃 New to your channel, loved this video!
Hello, South Louisiana. We're so glad you found our channed....welcome to the farm. Thanks for the encouragement.
Thanks for the suggestiong. You will LOVE the beef stroganoff!
15 bean soup using Hurst’s dry beans, onions, celery and carrots. I also use some better than bullion ham base. It’s delicious!
I LOVE 15 bean soup....I'll definitely have to try canning some. Thanks for the idea!
I love your canning room. Amazing!! Will you be doing a video of your potato soup? Thank you.
Thanks!! Yes, I will be making potato soup in the next week or so and will video it. Thanks for watching.

Thanks! I love spending time in that room now that it's all clean and organized. Thanks for watching.
I make a nectarine (or peach) and mango jam. My friends love it.
I was surprised by how yummy the nectarine jam was. I'll have to try mango some day too.
Such a beautiful larder! You got a great deal on that beautiful sampler. Little Mountain Ranch has been canning a lot of ready to eat meals. Check out her pantry tour for some new ideas like chili base.
Little Mountain Ranch is amazing. I think I saw that she canned 1600 jars....wow! I'll check out some of her other videos about ready to eat meals. Thanks!

New sub here, from Quebec. I love making canned meals, beef strogonoff is a favorite, but i also do pulled pork, anf this year i did sticky chicken wings, and a recipe called maple glazed chicken that i canned , we tried one jar of it last week, and omg will be making lots more!
Pulled pork would be really yummy....and the maple glazed chicken. I'll be giving those a try. Thanks for the suggestions.
@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764 if you don't find a maple glazed chicken recipe, I'll write mine here. ;)
@@justmenicole4842plz write it with details for us? I’m fixing to start chicken and I’d love to do it today. Tia
@@enna4986 this is what i do . the base recipe is for 4 chicken breasts, so depending on the size , it makes 2 or 3 quarts .which is all I made , because I never make large quantities when its the first time ;)
4 chicken breats, cut in strips , packed raw in jars.
Filling devided between jars
2tbs apple cider vinegar
2 small red onions or shallots sliced
1tbsp minced garlic
1/2 cup maple syrup
3 sweet bell peppers cut in strips
I mix all the filling then split between jars
Pressure can 90 minutes
Pour it out on a sheet pan to cook ( 350f)
In oven.
I served it with a side of rice , but you can add butternut squash to the baking sheet too!
If its not for canning then just make it and put it in the oven!
How beautiful, as for ready made meals ... my son loves chili. I can't keep it on the shelves.
I think chili might be at the top of my list...I LOVE it! Thanks
I would like to see a cinnamon raisin applesauce video, YUM!
I'll keep that in mind next year. Thanks for watching!
The larder looks beautiful, Brenda! You did a great job! Question; When will you be closing the market?
Thanks, Lisa. We closed the farmstand a few weeks ago. We are still selling honey by request, but the stand won't be open until next spring.
Meatballs in spaghetti sauce , Texas chili , beef ragu, chicken and gravy base. These are some I canned
Thanks....they all sound yummy. Thanks for the ideas.
Bless you ma'am. You really live how to be Proverbs 31 wife.
Thanks for all of the suggestions!!! I'll definitely check out Abbey Vergerin. I think I have a lot of canning to do in the next several weeks.
Carter over at Grow and Preserve does a lot of meals in jars.
I've never heard of that channel, but I'll definitely check it out. THANKS!
Have you ever thought of doing read alouds. Your voice is so calming!!!
Oh, how sweet. I've never considered it.....maybe someday???
@waardenburgfamilyfarm4764 I would definitely watch/listen if you were to do this venture.
Love your Larder! Curious when you do raisin applesauce do you process the same as regular applesauce? Was also thinking on making cranberry applesauce also.
Yes, I followed the same directions for applesauce...it's delicious.
@ thank you, I am going to try some.
Ok I have just one more question, where would I find a recipe for cocktail sauce to can. Thank you so much! I enjoy your channel.
Could you please tell me how you got your elderberries so clean? Our elderberries have little stem pieces! 😀
Wow!! That's a LOT of pickles. Enjoy!
Perhaps that built in shelf in the wall was to safely hold a lantern or candle(s) to light the room?
It's possible. We've had several suggestions and the all make sense. We may never know for sure.
Very nice!
Why not put a shelf over the top of the unit with your applesauce?
It would be a nice shelf for a lot of different uses.
My husband has mentioned that several times. For now I have enough shelf space, but if I make a ton of meals in jars I might need the extra shelf.
Those are great ideas....THANKS!
16 cups chicken stock
3 cups diced cooked chicken (about 1 3-lb chicken)
1-1/2 cups diced celery (about 2 stalks)
1-1/2 cups sliced carrots (about 3 medium)
1 cup diced onion (about 1 medium)
Salt
Pepper
Per Jar
1 1/2 cups chicken bite size
¾ cup Carrots, sliced
½ cup Celery, sliced
½ cup Corn Kernels
¼ cup Onion, chopped
1 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper, fresh ground
1/2 tsp Poultry Seasoning
Pinch each of Ground Rosemary and Thyme
Chicken stock - about 10 quarts (I make from Better Than Bullion Roasted Chicken Base and water to a boil)
4 quart or 8 pint jars with lids and bands
Cook chicken in a skillet until light in color (I brown a little for added taste).
THANKS! I copied it an posted it into my recipe file. It sounds yummy.
@@ChrisCalmtheCrazy Thanks!
What type and humidity do you keep your pantry?
