Thanks @DIYflyer! Only thing that keeps worrying me about the vinyl is the little kids at the breakfasts I attend: they think they have the right to try and pull it off! Where are the parents!! lol
I just checked the Canadian Air Regulations with regards to Aircraft markings. I'm impressed your 'white' registration markings is compliant. AND!! it looks Super Cool !!! If you don't mind - I'm going to copy that idea.
Yeah it’s legit. The caveat is the “straight surface” took me a while to wrap my head around it. Inspector had clarified it back in 2013. What hard to tell is that the fuselage has very little flat side surface and adjusting it to make sure that happens is what makes it ok. The new letters are actually bigger than the previous when the plane was only grey. Other Lancairs around are even smaller. All in all quite happy with new letters. Thanks for writing Mark. Always happy to hear from folks who watch the vids. I’ll be helping a few folks do some other wraps in the future. Should be fun.
Great video. I just finished wrapping my RV-10 fuselage and rudder with 1080. It will be interesting to see how yours ages in the Canadian climate vs. California sun. I’ll be attempting wingtip wrapping this week!
Heyyyy how u and the gang doin’? Lol. It was nice to allow me to join the gang. Oshkosh is like that right? Always new folks to meet and new friends to be made.
@djal1030 Yes. When I was first investigating the whole process, I found a video where there is a company that does that sort of stuff. They design the artwork and print it up. The plane in the video was a Glasair. There is also another fellow out there who wrapped an entire sonex in yellow. Sorry don’t have those links handy.
Wow, this is really good! I can’t believe this wasn’t done by a pro and you just figured it out as you went. Love it!
@weinersnitzelz thanks! Even more surprising, it’s still hanging on with no sign of decay or degradation.
Beautifully done. Just fantastic!! I plan on doing a similar wrap on my RV10, still atleast 1 year out.
Thank you for sharing.

I’d love to see what you’ve done!!
Also building a RV10, and looking forward to wrapping. Can you please share your email? Would love to connect and learn
Very informative! Gonna be doin this on my S21 soon with the added complexity of rivets!
Would love to see it when done!!
@@HUDPilot it’ll be on here for sure! Your vids will be very useful👍
@@Project2Aero Rivets don't seem to be much of an issue. Give them a little heat and push them down.
I agree.. played with it a bit on the cessna that sits behind my plane in the hangar and that is pretty much as you say... heat and press.
@@HUDPilot maybe at Oshkosh
How you doing? Nice meeting you at Oshkosh and going to lunch with a bunch of Utah strangers to the hangar.

Thanks for your honesty on applying the vinyl. I'm building an RV9a and have a similar scheme. Would like to connect with you
@seanmarshall7608. For sure. Hit me up by email and we I’ll send you off my number. hudpilot1@gmail.com
How much did this cost in material to do?
I mention in one of the videos. Don’t recall the exact amount but if I had bought from the main supplier, less than $900 CAD
have you seen anyone wraping the whole plane?
