Really!?? I don't choose the ads but that is quite interesting. All I get is "learn how to edit film"...... hmmm maybe they are trying to say something lol.
Hey Cory. I am have estimated that it won’t add more than a couple of pounds. A 30ft roll which is 60” wide lists at 5.3kg for the “package”. I’ve used 20’ and less 30” wide of material. Gotta do some math for exact weight but should be too bad.
But of course. Actually been in Montreal this past month (born and raised there) heading back this week and may get stuck in Toronto overnight is I can’t catch a direct flight. In either case. Write me at hudpilot1@gmail.com and we can exchange numbers. Or catch me on IM me on Instagram at hudpilot and we can talk.
@M Hi. Legality have come up quite a few times. But always in the context of USA ... I am in Canada and no rule has been issues against it. Given that vinyl is used for lettering on airliners (the same vinyl I have used) as well some airliners (where I used to work) have the entire plane with giant wrapped sections done without anyone running to insist on having it removed. Given you said TC and not FAA, I go with the assumption you are canadian. The airline I refer to is canadian and they also fly into the states so dunno. Also my plane is Amateur built. Lots of manufactured planes have fancy paint schemes and augmented by vinyl striping so in my opinion.. pretty vague. I have also just recently seen a cessna completely wrapped... as in you can't see the metal of the plane and no one has gone knocking. I had found no rule for it.
@@HUDPilot thank you sir. Yes also Canadian, and found an FAA regulation against it as it can hamper visibility of corrosion or cracking in the aircraft surfaces. The reason I ask is because I found a Piper cherokee 140 that I liked but it was completely vinyl wrapped also.
For me, the only concern is what did the surface look like before it was wrapped and how long the wrap has been in the plane. First part is, was it done to enhance a nice paint job or was it done to hide something (which vinyl doesn’t do well as mention in the video series). The second part of question relates to time that vinyl has been on the plane. 3M says 7ish years of life in the elements. If the plane has been parked outside in the Canadian winters then how far are you from having to redo the wrap or remove it (which will require chemicals to do so as per 3M). If always indoors then tou can probably at least double those years: guessing. I am not sure. Given that it cost me around 1k to do mine, not a bad investment compared to 20k to paint it in the scheme I have. In the end, don’t think there is a rule in Canada and maybe find out the condition before the wrap was applied.
Well done. Can’t wait for next week.
Very informative, and looking forward to how great it will be!! Thanks for sharing!
Also lots of 3M ads popped up for this… coincidence? I think not!
Thanks Paul... When you coming for the closeup look? I'll be flying this weekend!!

@@HUDPilot text me!
This is super cool and I'm excited to see it when it's done!
This is alllll your fault. You and all you great videos. Lol. I’ve created something way more complex than that original design.
@@HUDPilot I like this a lot more
Tony, how much weight do you anticipate this will add? Does this impact how you do W&B calculations? Does CofG need to be re-evaluated?

Wait - this is a Canadian registration. I'm in Canada (Toronto) and want to wrap my glider. Can we talk?

is there any issues with the legality of it? does TC approve it?
