I met Mr. Gorshin when he was appearing at a comedy club in Atlanta. He was staying at a hotel where I was bartending. Late at night after the show, he sat at the bar, had a cup of coffee and we chatted like we were old friends. Of course I got his autograph. He was an amazing talent and a very classy human being.
Mr. Clark also appeared in the 2nd season premiere of Batman entitled Shoot a Crooked Arrow with Art Carney (Ed Norton from The Honeymooners) as The Archer a ripoff version of Robin Hood
I never knew the Riddler was on American Bandstand. I met Frank AWESOMELY nice man! Totally nothing like his Riddler character. Thank you for uploading!
@@grahamlong8701 The thing is, he makes his face look like everyone he does! Kirk Douglas! I'm laughing so hard, I'm falling out of my chair just thinking about it! 🤣
R.I.P. Mr. Clark and Mr. Gorshin, God Bless You Both So Much Frank Gorshin was SO good at playin' a Bad Guy He's played a Bad Guy on The Original Star Trek and a Mad Bomber on The Original Charlie's Angels, but he'll forever be known as The Original Riddler
I saw Frank play George Burns in a stage production of "Say Goodnight, Gracie," and he was magnificent!! When he finished the final scene, looking up to heaven saying "Say Goodnight, Gracie!," I was in tears. We won't be seeing his like again anytime soon.
My favorite impressionist. Rich Little always sounded the same whether he was doing Jack Benny, Johnny Carson, or whoever. There was another guy I only saw once who did singers! He Was fantastic. Did a great Johnny Mathis.
He actually found "the green underware" to be very irritating and had a suit tailor made for him. This suit influenced the look of the Riddler in the comic book which remains to this day.
he lost his brother when he was only 17, and he got his first role of a lifetime in pittsburgh and it crushed him but his mom and dad wanted him to do the performance even tho his brother had just gotten killed in an automobile crash
Frank gorshin was the best and he created a character that was worth imitating The Riddler not too many impressionist become a star like that in themselves
Great memories. Amazing how respectful and articulate the high school audience behaved ! 70’s good times

Frank was sooooo underated. RIP BOTH MEN.

That brought back happy memories of watching him as the Riddler.. A very talented man.
The best Riddler ever
So right !!!
His Burt Lancaster imitation was gold.
My favotite impression!
He kind of looks like Burt Lancaster 🎸🤸🤸🤸🤸

Frank Gorshin was amazing as The Riddler, but his Burt Lancaster impression, kills me. Everytime! 😂😆
True, it would of funny to have him do The Riddler as/by Burt Lancaster.

I remember hearing about that on Entertainment Tonight Weekend when they did the villains of Batman Whatever Happened to Your Favorite TV Stars?
J Wayne walk was perfect! Man of many voices. Left us too early. RIP Mr Gorshin.
GOD, we sure miss the likes of him. He was so good in all he does..
Frank Gorshin was, by far, the best impressionist going back in the day.
He did shows in the 90's at Harrah's in Atlantic City. Got to meet him in person because I worked there. Very nice man.
My favorite impressionist. Rich Little always sounded the same whether he was doing Jack Benny, Johnny Carson, or whoever.

A legend
Great question Dick Clark asked:Gorshin should have been attempting Elton John or McCartney. Why couldn't he?Lou Reed? They're all doable.
Frank was my 4th cousin on my Yugoslavian Mother’s side. Great bragging rights when I was young.
Dan.
Victoria BC
he was one helluva talented bloke!
Frank was a Yugo?
@@enricosanchez894
Yes.
He had slovenian ancestry.
That's cool, I'm sure you're proud having had such a talented relative.
He was my neighbor. From Steubenville, Oh
Frank really did look like a cross between Cagney, Kirk Douglas & Richard Widmark.
I met the man over 30 years ago when I worked at Harrah's in Atlantic City. He was a very nice gentleman.
He actually found "the green underware" to be very irritating and had a suit tailor made for him. This suit influenced the look of the Riddler in the comic book which remains to this day.
Frank was also a singer,a dancer and a pantomimist.
Class act. Where are today's comic who do impressions?
@@randyacuna3248 or as this good.

Loved how he could facially mimic the person and not just the voice. PS. American girls of those days seemed so radiant.
Have you seen his Brando?
Still the best Batman villain. Everyone else was just playing genially eccentric, Frank Gorshin played genuinely unhinged.
Yes you did Frank you had a Riddler song record in the 60s !!
Frank gorshin was the best and he created a character that was worth imitating The Riddler not too many impressionist become a star like that in themselves
Great talent !!! No one will beat his Riddler !!!
He was so good. Need anything else be said?👈
wow, the John Wayne walk-off, now that was a home-run !!
I knew there was more stuff out there. The paltry amount of Gorshin stuff they featured on the blu ray release was pitiful.
Guy smoked 3-5 packs of Vantage cigarettes a day and made it to 72, I smoke 1 pack a day, I'm 46, and hope I make it to 72.
Brilliant doing Lancaster. Close your eyes and he is there!
Was his face black on the left side and black on the right or was it the other way around, if you remember that famous Star Trek episode.
Frank dose Lancaster better than burt dose himself absolutely brilliant
I'm guessing November 15, 1975 - the same Saturday ABBA and David Ruffin performed on AB.
Does anyone do a Frank Gorshin impression?
Gotta go with "Lloyd" on this: By far, the BEST riddler, ever! They can abort the "Batman Movie Thing" anytime! It's run it's course.
Anybody seeing Tom Hiddelston through this?
Uhh hell naw
Two completely different actors in my opinion but I bet a conversation between the two of them would be a really nice one
One of my friends did comment on the resemblance. Could have been fun if they had had the chance to play father and son but alas that was not to be.
The best Lancaster , ever!
