Saw him at Westbury Music Fair and he stayed after the show and signed everyone's program and personally thanked everyone. I was a kid and my parents took me and he was very kind. He appreciated everyone coming to the show. What a wonderful man he was!!

I'm not a jealous person but I envy you for meeting him. I think Paul had some personal things inside his heart that he fought. I would love to have met him, you can see his good heart in the way he treats people.
@@WillaHerrera if you mean the fact he was gay, he didn’t fight that. He fought the censors. He didn’t struggle with his sexuality at all; he was obviously very comfortable with it. He used to make it obvious, especially on ‘Hollywood Squares’, so I don’t understand what you mean.
Carson was just a really really classy guy. Today's climate only promotes scum bags and shit heads. YOu dont get anywhere in hollywood unless you put out favors and can get black mailed. this was before that time. But even for those days Carson was a really respectful classy dude.
Because people didn’t always come on to these shows to promote or plug something they were doing. Someone would be booked for the simple fact that they were funny and entertaining.
I agree you could see he liked him. I don’t see them hanging out lol but you can see he liked him even though he interrupted Paul a lot and one last thing Johnny is just turning 50 here and 75 by the way, wow did they age in the 70s
His comedic talent was in his DNA. He was a class clown in high school & very popular. His spontinayety with comebacks developed into a fibe art, as well as his timing. Excellent talent who died way too soon.
Paul Lynde seems like a talented performer with a knack for telling a story in an interactive fashion. I loved him on Bewitched and from seeing him on Squares.
Absolutely loved Paul’s work, and would laugh so hard at his deliveries and one liners. Loved his work on I dream of Jeanie. To hear him speak from the heart so openly like this is a real treat. RIP 🙏🏽❤️
Back in the day you could laugh till you had tears in your eyes at either the Carol Burnett Show or Paul Lynde's answers on Hollywood Squares. His timing with the answers was genius - incredibly quick-witted. Great candid interview. I miss Carson...he was the greatest.
I love his candour at a time when actors and performers were rarely honest. He was very honest about how tough showbiz is to make it in. Very interesting little stories and insights. Thanks for uploading.
Paul was so sincere, and appears kind. His eyes seem to show honesty. He seems perceptive on the fly, probably the "timing" thing he mentions as being God-given. The warmth he exudes for his audience. In my opinion, regardless of if the world was ready for him or not, had he managed any insecurities further, he could have gone in so many directions with his calling in life. And we'd be so much the richer for it. His humble beginnings carried with him throughout.
Paul happens to be one of my favorite actor. He was very humorous with his comics energy. Hollywood squares being in the middle box. The only reason why I watched. And loved Bewitch. He was sick of being on the show Squares. But with his humor I wanted to meet him. He's gone and never will be forgotten. Because you had this the best funny bones ever.
His style and class has no competition in the ironic, sarcastic & quiet venomous sting of a Blue Scorpian that went as unseen as the sword of Damocles fell! 👏 👏👏 #Epic
I never heard of Paul Lynde until I read online that Seth MacFarlane based his voice for Roger from _American Dad!_ on him. After watching this video, I gotta say Lynde sure is funny.
He passed away when I was a little kid. Only discovered him as an adult watching reruns. Apparently the nicest guy in person. So sad he could not live as an openly gay man. Back then it was so taboo. RIP Paul Lynde
His homosexuality was annoying. I'm gay and massively attracted to him and I think he looked like a homosexual version of beautiful George Peppard that played Hannibal on the A team but some people are actually better off in the closet. There are positives and negatives to absolutely everything.
Seemed like everytime you turned on the tv in the seventies there he was. It's weird to think this crazy, zany, and hilarious guy had so many demons behind the scenes.

I sure miss Paul Lynde. What a funny guy!
One of Johnny’s best guests
He made Hollywood squares so much better
Absolutely
Paul Lynde was great! Awesome guest interview with Johnny Carson.
Why were these conversations SO MUCH BETTER back then? Why does this feel like.. so real?
Because previous generations had respect for each other. Nobody has that class now.

You can tell Johnny Carson really liked Paul Lynde and thought very highly of him.
He was hysterical😊

These two were the best. They have no peers.

That's a great quote, worth framing and hanging on your wall!!
Paul Lynde, was and still is a great talent and a true man of class! Excellent interview here as always from Mr Carson.
Paul's laugh is iconic😊
Paul Lynde always had the best laugh! I loved his acts.too.
Two of the greats ! Miss them both.
Paul Lynde was such a cool guy
I wish I could have met Paul Lynde. He was so funny, the exact type of person I would love to be friends with.
He was way too beautiful to be funny. He looked like a homosexual George Peppard.
he was a horrible drunk and very mean. he lost most of his friends due to his drinking and bad behavior.. you would not want to have known him.
Brilliant
Paul Lynde seems like a talented performer with a knack for telling a story in an interactive fashion. I loved him on Bewitched and from seeing him on Squares.
Late night was great once. The guests were talented too. It is wonderful to see Paul Lynde as himself.
This is a wonderful video. I've never seen him more serious before.
"Scared of coming out and being myself." Around 2:54. Profound and yet completely honest even if not by design. Paul Lynde was a game-changer.
He started out a bit shy but quickly relaxed and told some interesting stories

@@blakerackley8874 Paul Lynde had a few different roles on I Dream of Jennie. His first role as an IRS agent, auditing Tony, was hilarious.
Yes, that episode was funny. "One government agency to another government agnecy."
Johnny Carson had one of the most beautiful voices . Paul Lynde timeless
What a true talent he was. I wish he were still around today. He was first class all the way. God Bless him.
A funny brilliant man gave joy to millions.
He had such a quick wit...always funny....miss you Paul Lynde

Two comedy geniuses, and two classy guys. Both seem harder to find today. Paul is SO sharp, man, the gift of brains.

Paul Lynde was so funny! He never needed cue cards, all of his lines were his alone! RIP to this incredibly talented guy, Paul is missed for sure.
That's not true. He had writers. He didn't like winging it, he preferred to have a script.

What a great interview with Paul!
For all his nervousness he was superb here
A unique character. Absolutely his own style. Great voice. The hooded claw? Just brilliant.
What a great interview.

He was a great Talent...you can see how he was nervous with Carson...but he stayed with it and Johnny loved it

He is the best comedian of all time!!!!! He was so great on, Bewitched, as Uncle Arthur!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I watch Johnny Carson every night, he is great!!!!!

Paul.. had a really Charismatic Personality, BUT he could also be Real. He wasn't "always On."
Paul Lynde WAS THE BEST! I loved that dude!
"You have no peer", Paul was exactly correct, no one ever replaced Johnny. Johnny was the best
First experience of Lynde was in Send Me No Flowers as a rather enthusiastic cemetery manager when Rock Hudson goes to buy himself a plot.

I don't think that Paul Lynde ever realized how many people loved him.
The censor may not of understood a lot pf Lynde's answers.
So sad Paul died in 1982
Unbelievable funny man
Peter Marshall : Paul is it true a female dog can sometimes give birth to as many as twelve puppies Paul - "That Bitch" !
thank you for saving these

Only one Paul Lynde..brought me so many laughs.
Lol, he said, "water was like 85¢"...

Lynde - About half...LoL

Paul: "About half".
