    I loved this portrait shoot, I love the snow and it was so much fun to take photographs in such a beautiful location. We don't often get this much snow in the UK, so when it started to fall I knew I had to organise a shoot and not miss the opportunity!
    All the photographs in this video were taken on my Sony A9 and I used the Canon 50mm 1.2 (with Sigma MC-11 adapter), Sony FE 35mm 1.8, Sigma 135mm 1.8 and Sony FE 85mm 1.8 lenses. I also used off camera flash as well and for those images I used the Godox AD200 and V860ii speedlights, together with MagMod modifiers.
    A huge thank you to Georgi ( / georgilaurenturner_ ) for being so brilliant to work with and never complaining about the cold and also to my friend Toni Darcy ( / tonidarcy ) for filming the behind the scenes video for me.
    Also, please check out Georgi's brand new UA-cam channel and give her a subscribe! • Video

    What? All that beautiful snow and nobody made snow angels? 😂 Though she quite literally looked like an Angel in some of those shots!! Beautiful!

      Merci beaucoup Xavier! Oui, Georgi était absolument incroyable et ne s'est jamais plaint une seule fois même s'il faisait si froid. J'ai vraiment apprécié ce tournage :-) Merci encore beaucoup pour votre soutien!

    Another masterclass Neil! Great work as always - whilst watching it an idea came into my head of could you have put a light behind Georgi at high power and somehow illuminated the snow flakes behind with her almost silhouetted? Never had the chance to shoot portraits in the snow..yet, and not sure if it would work in bright conditions? Thoughts?

    excelente, aunque no conozco aun la nieve en persona pero ha de ser genial tomar fotografías en situaciones así, aca a 6 grados centigrados ya no me lo creo, me imagino el frio por allá, gracias por tus videos y saludos desde México

    I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding in Lapland 2 years ago, it was the best experience as a photographer but the most challenging.
    We only had 4 hours of sunlight a day so the couples shoot had to take place the day after the wedding, with the bride and groom dressing up again but well worth it.

    💥✨💥 9:52 lens hood reversed... in the snow. HAA. We love you Neil and I know that when you’re moving fast it’s hard to stay “focused” on everything when your mind is on the model standing in snow scantily dressed. 🤟🏼💝

    • @NeilRedfern
      @NeilRedfern  3 роки тому

      Haha, well spotted James! I never bother with lens hoods, mainly because I always like to get flare whenever I can, but in this instance you're right, it would have been a good idea!

    Just a tip. Use your lenshood to avoid/reduce snow into your lens. :-)

    Beautiful! You need to cut the shutter finger and thumb out of an old pair of gloves for the next winter outing 😄

    Watching this, just as I receive an email for Sony's new FE35mm f1.4 GM.

    • @NeilRedfern
      @NeilRedfern  3 роки тому

      Haha, ironic! I haven't looked in to the new 35mm GM yet but my guess will be that it is quite a bit bigger and heavier than the 35mm 1.8 so that counts it out for me - I am sure it will be an awesome lens though

    • @carlj1964
      @carlj1964 3 роки тому

      @@NeilRedfern that's the issue. GM are amazing, but the weight will determine it's market. Like you, I love the 85mm f1.8. But I'd not say no to the f1.4.

    • @NeilRedfern
      @NeilRedfern  3 роки тому

      Haha, I exactly feel the same as you, It will be an amazing lens and if someone wants to give me the 1.4 I wouldn't turn it down but I won't be swapping my 1.8 for it. Size and weight is a huge consideration, especially for wedding photographers like me who predominantly shoot on the 35mm, because over the course of a 12 hour day it can be quite a difference.

      I moved from the Sony a mount because the bodies weighed a ton and I'm getting on a bit. E mount was, is, perfect, but gear lust never goes away :)
