I love this episode so much. You really feel for Bakugo when he blames himself for All might losing his power. Despite his abilities and bravado, he’s still just a kid and he still struggles with his emotions.
I think a lot of Bakugou´s personality was cleared up here. Like we always knew he is a hard-worker, a perfectionist, but here we can see that while he is rough on other people, he is the roughest on himself. He blames himself for All Might, because he expected of himself to do better , to be able to not get kidnapped - he sees his own kidnapping as his own weakness, that is the caliber of expectations Katuski puts on himself, which is why his personality comes out the way it does, coz he si basically under constant pressure, never feeling good enough.
Perfectly said, as well as it not even being the 1st time he was kidnapped, that would make me feel weak as well. Especially when others keep bringing it up like the 1st time it happened.

He's a hard-worker, a perfectionist, and too good at reading people and situations.
He knows there's a connection between All Might and AFO, and that All Might wants to keep it secret. He tries to push thie knowledge to the back of his mind, but it just keeps resurfacing, and his mind keeps on coming up with all these theories about the connection that have unpleasant implications about All Might, and society's faith in the symbol of peace.
He knows that Deku is also involved - Bakugo probably theorizes (at this point) that AFO forced All Might's quirk onto Deku, possibly even as a favor to All Might.
He can't ask the police or other teachers about this, because it could shatter the foundations of hero society, and he has no evidence. But he also can't ask Deku or All Might because they seem to not be willing to acknowledge the secrets (and he respects all Might in particular too much to pry further).
Yet, the public continues to whisper about the sludge villain, and the kamina incident... and so does Bakugo to himself. He can handle the doubts of the public, but what he's really struggling with are the doubts about himself, and how he can't confide in anyone about the things he figures out, or needs to figure out.
Edit: Plus, he's unsure of what he's missing. He 's always been confident. He knew early on at UA that there were people out there more talented than him (like Todoroki), and people like Uraraka that he had to watch out for.
And yet, he found himself falling further and further behind, to the point where everyone in the class EXCEPT him had their provisional license - even the perverted diaper midget (probably how he saw mineta) and the Uraraka chick he was watching out for. Even Deku. And he's not sure he understand why.
Then there's the matter of Deku - why was he chosen to be the next symbol of peace?
Did all might see something in Dkeu that bakugo didn't?
Was Bakugo wrong to put his faith in All Might?
Or was there something Bakugo valued about All Might, or about being a hero, that was wrong, or not important?
He wants to know. He NEEDS to know, to grow as a person. The weight of all his doubts and questions had become too much to keep to himself any further, so he basically pleads with Deku to fight him so he can try to figure it out, or at least, rule some things out.
Such a great episode, and your reactions were perfect, brought me back to my first time watching. I was so surprised too when Bakugou said he was guilty of ruining All Might, but it makes so much sense as soon as you hear it. Even his mother said it was his own fault he got kidnapped, for being so 'weak' - while hitting him in front of his teachers. It makes so much sense now why he is the way he is, and it puts into perspective why he was so put off by Izuku actually caring about him and worrying about him. He couldn't understand it any way other than being looked down upon, because everyone else expected him to be amazing all the time.
I really appreciate that this was less of a fight to show how far they've gotten as fighters, but to showcase their relationship. It's not exactly unique, but it's done super well!

his va is instantly one of the most recognisable now in any anime and his appearance makes the anime just better now. he did an amazing work as bakugo
3:13 - this is the point where if you really haven't read into his personality, Bakugo really reaches his limit.
While I'm not outwardly aggressive this actually fucking hurt to see him blaming himself and this has been eating at him for a while. And.... I do the same thing. I'm always hard on myself even when I'm getting praise. I blame myself for a lot of things that aren't in my control, even knowing this things eat away at me
Bakugo is complicated, far more than just being a loud 'bully' type character. You've seen him develop but it's from here on out that you really see the real Bakugo.
The stun grenade move was somewhat Bakugo did back in season 2 against his fight with against Tokoyami. Its nice that they bring back previously established moves
I may not be into MHA anymore but this episode will always have a special place in my heart cause I related so hard to Bakugo and it was one of the first time the rest of the fandom really saw him as well for more than his facade and Nobuhiko Okamoto knocked it out of the park with his performance (it also made one of my favourite AMV using Weak by AJR which is really good lol)
Just realized something rewatching these episodes. Bakugo's mother probably contributed to his guilt - she said to his face, and in front of All Might and Aizawa, that it was his fault for 'getting caught and causing all that trouble' as if he wasn't snatched from behind by a magic user while following his teacher's orders in the middle of a hellish ambush. I feel like he absolutely would have felt guilty anyway, but I think it's sick his own mom blames him for getting kidnapped.
Credit where it's due, the voice actor for Bakugo crushes it in this episode
Man I loved the animation in this episode! The parts where the background was black but they would use each character's lighting on each other like that. So masterfully done!

Bakugo is my favorite character in this series by a long shot and this episode is a huge part of why. He's such a well written character with great development. Lots of great moments still to come too!
You’ll hate season 4 +5 if you hate after credits 😂 but you’ll love season 6 :)
