Ah, yes one of my fav episodes! Def top two for me having watched all of the seasons out right now. The emotions, the fighting animation and animation in general this episode, the sudden reveal of Bakugo's vulnerability and Bakugo and Deku finally finding common ground, it's so well done! Any reactor I've watched until now never suspected anything about Bakugo feeling guilty about All Might having to retire but when you think back about it, it makes so much sense that he would feel that way, which makes the reveal even better. Such a good episode. Can't wait for season 4 now!
Bakugo is my fav character by far in this show and I'm glad this episode finally showed that there is more to his character than meets the eye. No one ever thinks about how Bakugo would be struggling with being saved by his hero and then that hero losing his powers directly after? of course he would think it was his fault and that he just wasn't strong enough which ultimately pushed him over the edge. Bakugo also hasn't had enough solid victories in the show, and I felt like he really deserved this win. This is really just the best episode of the show for me lol
I agree, but I also believe Bakugo's journey went full circle when he jumped to save Deku from AFO/Shigaraki. Now he's just cringey being edgy all the time for absolutely nothing.
For me he was always my favourite..! I mean asking Todorki to release all his power when he faught him was awesome..! Damn the guy went head on head with league of villians combined

Bakugou wasn't just trying to beat Deku here. Bakugou always thought that if he wasn't the best, then he was nothing. He believed that he was worthless if he was not the strongest. But then he got captured and "ended" All Might. He thinks the reason he got captured was not because the enemy was strong, but as he said in the episode, was because _he was weak._ He kept saying "All that power you have and I'm still beating you (I'm stronger)" during the fight AND after he won. It was different from their first fight in the bomb training (S1EP7) because even though he was saying pretty much the same thing, this time he wasn't saying it to crap on Deku, he was saying it _for himself._ For once, Bakugou's reason to fight Deku was not just to beat him, it was to prove _to himself_ that he was still strong, that he still had worth.
This episode is by far one of the best episodes of the series for me, right up there with the AllMight v. All For One fight. A lot of people hate on Bakugo as a character, but he just communicates in different ways, and a lot of people see that as him just being an aggressive hot-head. That is not the case. He is an extremely analytical person who self-reflects by leaps and bounds throughout the series. He has never been taught how to accept and process his own emotions, so he reflexively takes out those feelings with anger, because it's the only way he knows how to process them. He's never really been seen as someone who needed help, or someone who was weak, so it almost gives him the impression that he isn't *allowed* to feel vulnerable, and if he does then that makes him a failure. He'd always been taught that having strength, a powerful quirk and the determination and will to strive to always come out on top was what made a great hero. Deku (despite the determination and will) had always appeared to be the opposite of those things to Bakugo, yet Bakugo always, *always* measured his own progress against Deku's - even when Deku was quirkless. The incident where Katsuki fell off the log and Deku ran down to help him was a huge turning point in Bakugo's mind about Deku's intentions toward him. He interpreted those intentions wrongly, obviously (he was a child), but his childhood brain had come to the conclusion that Deku offering him help in his moments of weakness was Deku 'looking down on him'/ seeing him as weak and vulnerable when Bakugo was always working so hard to be the *opposite* of those things. Izuku's kindness and compassion came off as almost 'passive-aggressive' and disingenuous to Bakugo. Kind of the idea that, 'You're not really trying to be nice, you just think I'm weak'. Prior to this fight, he always had a severe misinterpretation of Izuku's intentions toward him -- and, like Izuku said during the fight, they'd never actually talked about how they felt about one another. They have both been very important to each other all of their lives, but miscommunication and bad communication led to the loss of their friendship. Neither of them truly understood each other. I adore Bakugo's character development *because* it is slow. It comes along gradually and naturally as he grows to accept his own emotions and fully understand Izuku. Izuku is absolutely vital to Bakugo's character growth, because in all the ways that Izuku succeeds, Bakugo fails. Izuku's existence is a walking, talking mirror of all the things Bakugo is missing - and Bakugo is aware of that. In the same way that Izuku looked up to Bakugo for having all the things he didn't have growing up, Bakugo did the same exact thing without truly understand what those things were. In this fight, he's going into it with the idea of 'I know that there's some vital part of me that's missing, that *you* have, and I need to see what that is. Please, show me. All Might saw it in you. I wanna see it too.' It's also telling how much he still values Izuku's opinion of him because Bakugo is literally in the midst of a mental breakdown in this episode, and *he goes to Izuku for help before anyone else*. He's a very pent up and angry kid, but he's processing so much emotional failure and doesn't know who to turn to other than Izuku. He trusts Izuku with those feelings, even if he can't trust himself with them. Bakugo is such a complex character, and that's the reason he's 100% my favorite of the series. His and Izuku's bond is far deeper than he's able to express with his words.
Bakugo has the best development in the show. Initially the author didn't think people were going to like him and said if he could go back he wouldn't have had bakugo make the suicide joke because he knows its the only thing really holding back people from loving the character
9:48 And This Is The Moment! This is the long game that Team Bakugou patiently wait for all new fans of the series to arrive at. This is who Bakugou has always been. 15:10 "You barely won...." Really ... barely?!? My guy can't win for losing. 23:23 "He [Bakugou] came around okay!" No no no... You came around! Team Bakugou always knew this about our precious cinnamon roll
I love this episode so much. Deku admires All Mights compassion, his smile, almost to a fault. Bakugo does the same with his strength. Both are so pivotal in becoming true hero’s and I love that the stage has been set to temper these two into truly strong individuals. It’s like All Might is the flame, Deku the steel, and Bakugo the hammer. They are gonna create some awesome weapons together. Great reaction you two! Thanks a bunch
This episode really shows how much Bakugo respects and admires Deku. It's not just Bakugo wanting to fight and him opening up to someone. It's him doing it in front of Deku. He never would've done that if it had been anybody else. He actually considers Deku a friend under all the "gruff" behavior.
Love this take! I also think Bakugo sees Deku as the only one who can really push him to get stronger, which is why he’s always trying to push him down, cause he knows Deku is always gonna get back up, and now, after this episode, he sees that Deku is gonna fight back. Great writing and voice acting from both the subbed and dubbed actors!
I've always felt that despite what he says, Bakugou had never really underestimated Deku. He knows what Deku is capable of, and he knows that Deku is the only one who can keep him on his feet. That's why he's always taken competing against him seriously.
The first time we see any sort of sensitivity from Bakugo. You could see hints about his depression in the dorm tour episode when he was seen asleep and apart from everyone else.
Bakugo's psychology is so interesting! He sees needing help as being weak, so he also sees offering someone help as claiming they are weak. He disliked Deku growing up, because Deku, despite being physically weaker, kept offering Bakugo help and support. He was insulted by Todoroki refusing to commit to their fight in the tournament, acter he, himself respected Ururaka by taking her seriously. He yelled at those fake victims in the training arena to save themselves, both to prevent insulting them as weak, and to yell at his past self for not saving himself and relying on All Might. He FINALLY takes Deku seriously and talks to him in this episode, after Deku makes the decision to take the fight seriously. And finally, Bakugo adamantly insists that he is being practical, not compassionate, by keeping All Might's secret, because he respects the man too much to 'weaken him' by admitting to helping him. Also, side note, but the scene with Bakugo's parents, All Might and Aizawa plays painfully differently now that we know the blame that Bakugo is placing on himself... poor kid.
This is something that we see in high school classrooms a lot. Children blame themselves so often and do not have the knowledge in order to separate the fact that it is not their fault. I thought all might letting them physically hash it out is commendable too. Sometimes ya just gonna hit one another until things get through to each person.
I realize this is an older video, but I just want to point out that from Bakugo’s perspective, Deku was hiding his power and messing with him. Of course, he realizes later that Deku inherited One For All from All-Might. But based on what Bakugo thought before finding out the truth, you could see how he could be upset.
I don't know the exact timeline, but I think the second movie "Heroes Rising" came around after this confrontation between Midoriya and Bakugo. By far, I think It's personal pick of my most MHA movie. Can't wait for when you'll watch it.
Have to say that in the dub, when deku responds to bakugou’s “looking down on me thoughts”, he says “All Might was my hero, but you were actually in my life!” Felt the dub hit a bit harder there
@12:42 on of the few times i actually liked the english dub version better because deku says something like "All Might was my hero, but you were the one actually in my life!"
I appreciate the comment about Bakugo not losing his usual personality, yet the character growth is still very visible. I know you're way ahead in the episodes and I wish I could watch them right now, but I'm kind of in a pinch right now lol. All I have to say is that I'm looking forward to your reaction to the next movie! Excellent video, as always!
AHHHH MY FAVORITE MHA EPISODE IM SO EXCITED TO SEE YOUR REACTIONS!! honestly this was a huge turning point in Deku and Bakugou's relationship and honestly it made me appreciate their bond and development so much. you could see soft hints before but this was right in your face and I love it. ++adding on as im watching your reaction and honestly Bakugou already knew Deku was special in SOME way which is in part why he has this feeling as if Deku was looking down on him when he wasn't. And it was hard for Bakugou to even process that Izuku could just be a good person so he perceived it as Deku being the opposite and made him unspecial and useless. Izuku is the only one that could made Bakugou lose his head like this. ++ Izuku is honestly the only one Bakugou could open up *like this* literally crying and spilling out his thoughts and emotions. I feel bad that Katsuki really thought he ended All Might. I mean the kid has a superiority and inferiority complex and made his personality about being the strongest and the best so him being the reason his idol is *gone* is a huge hit. ++ In a realistic sense, Deku looked up to Bakugou more than he did to All Might because as he mentioned, Bakugou was close and despite everything, Deku continuously saw the good. Katsuki is his incarnation of victory. He didn't negate the bad obviously but he believes in Bakugou and Bakugou misunderstood that and hero society did not help that in any way. This battle was a way for them to see each other's perspectives, find common ground, and become proper rivals and potential friends. I honestly hope they become hero partners in the future because they both complete/compliment each other and they work together well. Save to win and Win to save, they'd be amazing. I love them sm :(( ANYWAYS!!! I absolutely loved yalls reactions as always!! Y'all are some of my favorite reactors seriously. Im excited for y'all to watch s4 and 5!!
"I think you both understand... If you both recognize each other and can focus on making each other stronger, *then you can save people to win and win to save people* " This is basically the philosophy of the manga/anime, everything revolves around that. Another important thing is what Deku said about how he perceived Katsuki "as a symbol of victory", I think it's something important to keep in mind, especially later on. My English is not verry good, so i apologize if there is an error in grammar or spelling.
oh my goddd this is one of the best episodes and i’m soo glad y’all reacted the way you did! bakugo is by far the most well written character of the show and his character development is amazing! i can’t wait for you to start season 4 :]
I've been waiting for your reaction to this episode for ages!! One of my favourite episodes of MHA. Bakugo is such a complicated character beautifully written his development. Thanks guys♡
Imagine somebody you bullied was acknowledged by the person you idolize in a way you could never be. Now imagine that you inadvertently caused that same idol's retirement and pain. Bakugo's whole world was centered around being the next All Might, and it's slowly crumbled since the start of the show.
As soon as bakugo got his powers everyone praised him and told him he was going to become a great hero (boost ego). His favorite hero all might (#1 hero), he wants to be better than him. He falls off bridge, deku comes to help him (who helps the #1…. No one, all might never needed it so bakugo doesn’t need it and Not from someone who doesn’t have powers so now he feels looked down on). Wants to get into same school as all might, some how powerless deku (who he thinks looks down on him) gets in too. Deku shows power first time (and it looks cool) bakugo gets angry because he thinks deku has been hiding this power from him this entire time…. I could go on but the ground work has been there and I love how this has been evolving. Bakugo can ve misunderstood but if you see all the little thing it makes sense on why he is the way he is.
The irony is that Bakugo _already_ saw what made All Might choose Deku, he had a front-row seat to that scene. It was when the sludge Villain held him hostage and Deku rushed in to try to help him despite being powerless. Meanwhile the Heroes present were waiting for someone with a better suited Quirk to show up. That's the spirit that made All Might acknowledge Deku. But Bakugo can't see any other merit than being the strongest, so he's unable to reconcile Deku being chosen over someone like him. Also, even if he feels responsible for All Might's retirement, that doesn't erase Bakugo being a bully to Deku, and an overall prick, for years before that. So don't feel _too_ bad for him ^^
People often forget while Kacchan may be....is an hotblooded asshole, but he's still a child with feelings and conscious and this does breaks my heart to see him vulnerable and guilty for All Might's retirement.
Also another thing people don’t realize is the reason bakugo could take that hit is bc it’s only 5% obviously but it takes back when all might was hitting them both with immense power and flying them away
I'm with Bakugo. Deku is improving but is too naive. He needs to get more serious moving forward. Also I can't wait for the girls to meet my favorite hero.
finally! yeah even though it took three seasons to get a bit of bakugo growth, i feel like that’s what makes it more impactful. His breakdown comes out of nowhere but makes perfect sense despite not being given any emotion from him whatsoever in three seasons. Everyone goes into this ep thinking "oh bakugos being annoying again" but nope, time to cry hahah
Bakugo knows how strong All Might is and that Midoriya has his power and thus has much more power in him, after all its was their first fight in which Midoriya used 100% in front of the class. And the notion that he would lose the will to fight is absurd, he literally kept trying to fight All Might in their mid term test.
If there was the scenario where Midoriiya with 100% fought Bakugo with the power he has in this episode... they'd probably both get seriously hurt, since he can't rlly use 100% without being 🦆ed.
Toga as Camie scratched Deku's cheek with one of her first sneak attacks (the cut is visible for the rest of the exam). She barely has any blood when she answers the phone, so it probably came from that little wound.
Not surprising ....... there is more in becoming a hero than having a quirk ....... there is should be well power, mental strength , sense of justice , sense of humility , sense of understanding to self and other and above all obedience to follow the heroic laws to keep peaceful balanced society
You both are my upper tier for reaction content. You both watch it in subbed, which is a huge plus, plus you actually watch it and have human reactions. A lot of others watch it in dubbed and scream over everything and, based on that, they've already seen it and the reaction is faux. I never understood Bakugo fully until I saw him at home with his family and realised he was literally the embodiment of chaotic-good. When you guys watch the show as it catches up with the Manga, you might need diving suits, because you will both drown in tears. And, I'll be here to see it! Keep it up!

Any reactor I've watched until now never suspected anything about Bakugo feeling guilty about All Might having to retire but when you think back about it, it makes so much sense that he would feel that way, which makes the reveal even better. Such a good episode. Can't wait for season 4 now!
Yes it’s so good to see more vulnerability coming from bakugo finally -Morgan
Absolutely. Some of the best reveals are the ones where you feel shocked, but upon reflection think ".. Ah, of course."
top 2? such a weird number
@@IGNACIO_MARIN please, don´t spoil them...
@@tunencio7288 Don't worry man, I think I was as ambiguous and dull as I could be.
For me he was always my favourite..! I mean asking Todorki to release all his power when he faught him was awesome..! Damn the guy went head on head with league of villians combined
@@seeda5545 exactly!! I felt the same lol
You can hate or like Bakugo depending on each person.
But he is definetly a good charcter as in well written
agreed, but i still get mad when people hate him because "he's such a bully" i mean come on we're passed that stuff now and he got like THE character development. you can hate him for being to loud or that he always cusses. but not for him being a bully because he isn't that bully anymore.
@@elianalmao yep
Although.. People can hate him for being a bully in the past as he had bullied deku and even told him to k*@l himself
I don't hate him and its okay if someone else hates him
@@elianalmao He still acts like an asshole for the most part even after Deku vs Kacchan 2
Like he got his development and did changed a little but he still acts rude, belittles others and insults people. He constantly belittles his teammates in JT arc. He is invited to Todoroki family dinner and he is rude to them. He calls previous OFA users bunch of nobodies just because he hadn't heard of them or their quirks
Development or no, people has the right to dislike Bakugo for being an asshole especially considering that everyone in the story just ignore his abrasive behavior. Being loud and cussy has nothing to do with it
@@itzmehDevi no cause its kinda weird that people be simping over those villains who literally killed 1000 of innocent people and they hate bakugou for being a bully in s1 when he was insensitive kid and later on he acknowledged what he did was wrong and apologised to deku and deku already forgave him i mean okay some people can't let go and not like him but people be hating so much that they want 16/17 years old child to die like bro
@@ikakattel meh
They are fictional characters- people can like them or hate them
All I am saying is it's a well written character
I love listening to the Japanese and English voice actors for Bakugo in this episode. Such an amazing job
Agreed. They both KILLED it!!
I don’t like the English va to be honest not enough emotion but the Japanese va knocked it out of the park
@@twiningeight3178 nah, the English va did a better job tbh
Hahah Morgan choosing the absolute worst time to go off screen. Man that was some epic tier voice acting in that scene
I wanna see it too.'
It's also telling how much he still values Izuku's opinion of him because Bakugo is literally in the midst of a mental breakdown in this episode, and *he goes to Izuku for help before anyone else*.
You wrote a whole essay about him 😂
Bakugo has the best development in the show.
Lmao, I still don't like him.
Wasn't that because he always sleeps at 9pm every night?
Bakugos voice actor killed it this episode.
When bakugo said that it was his fault all might ended up like that make me cry
I recommend watching this episode in dub as well. Both voice actors for Bakugo nailed it.
Dub Bakugo slays. So damn good.
Heroes Rising is way after this point
@@willfanofmanyii3751 Is it too close for the third movie ?
Have to say that in the dub, when deku responds to bakugou’s “looking down on me thoughts”, he says “All Might was my hero, but you were actually in my life!”
Felt the dub hit a bit harder there
dub was the better version imo
100% that line is my favorite line in the show and it hits harder in dub at that part
YES! Best episode of this season! I love seeing the growth of power and emotion between Bakugo and Deku
I love them sm :((
ANYWAYS!!! I absolutely loved yalls reactions as always!! Y'all are some of my favorite reactors seriously. Im excited for y'all to watch s4 and 5!!
For the movie: Heroes rising in the timeline it's between season 3 and 4
"I think you both understand... If you both recognize each other and can focus on making each other stronger, *then you can save people to win and win to save people* "
This is basically the philosophy of the manga/anime, everything revolves around that.
Another important thing is what Deku said about how he perceived Katsuki "as a symbol of victory", I think it's something important to keep in mind, especially later on.
My English is not verry good, so i apologize if there is an error in grammar or spelling.
Always be my favorite episode. Just felt the pain in Bakugo's voice.
oh my goddd this is one of the best episodes and i’m soo glad y’all reacted the way you did! bakugo is by far the most well written character of the show and his character development is amazing! i can’t wait for you to start season 4 :]
The thing is Bakugo knows Deku better then anybody else, except himself.
I've been waiting for your reaction to this episode for ages!! One of my favourite episodes of MHA. Bakugo is such a complicated character beautifully written his development. Thanks guys♡
The VA of Bakugo is just amazing in this episode...no spoiling but this is just season 3...the show goes better and better, believe or not...
This episode was soooo spectacular. Very natural and understandable character growth.
it was well done
Definitely in my top 10 episodes at least, so freaking good and one of the best fights.
So don't feel _too_ bad for him ^^
People often forget while Kacchan may be....is an hotblooded asshole, but he's still a child with feelings and conscious and this does breaks my heart to see him vulnerable and guilty for All Might's retirement.
i've been waiting to see you guys do this episode for a while. it's a sad beautiful fight as they finally learn to communicate with each other
Episode 1 of S1: "Midoria Izuku: Origin"
Episode 10 of S2: "Shoto Todoroki: Origin"
This episode: "Katsuki Bakugo: Origin"
Technically that was episode 24 of season 2
Also another thing people don’t realize is the reason bakugo could take that hit is bc it’s only 5% obviously but it takes back when all might was hitting them both with immense power and flying them away
I knew that you guys would come around to like Bakugo😌 Every time he gets angry now you’ll think it’s hilarious watch!🤣
Do they stop the Bakugo (the best character) slander after this?💥💥
I'm with Bakugo.
One of the best VO acting episodes from the series.
my absolute favourite episode of season 3. that's where i really started liking bakugo more than anyone
So this was the first time they saw Bakugou's growth? ''Barely won'' ok.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Mirio should have been as All Might's successor.
Imagine if Midorya mention that he was using only 8% of his power....
*Kachan would lose his will....*
It’s funny Endevoer and Bakugo kinda have a similar personality but have a different look at All Might. Anytime Bakugo and Deku fight I love it
The voice acting in this one hits so different
She just had to go do some shit at the most important moment. God damn
Bakugo has to stay angry because of his quick . He’s needs to keep sweating
Not surprising ....... there is more in becoming a hero than having a quirk ....... there is should be well power, mental strength , sense of justice , sense of humility , sense of understanding to self and other and above all obedience to follow the heroic laws to keep peaceful balanced society
BakuGOAT
It was All Might who stopped Aizawa , I’m surprised you didn’t figure that out 😂

Bakugo's VA is the BEST...
Keep it up!
Probably the best episode of the series.....
