Just a reminder that the 3070 Mobile had 84% of the performance of its desktop counterpart, while the 4070 Mobile has only 55% of the power of its desktop version.
That's because the 4070 mobild really just is a 4060 desktop in disguise. I believe that the 4060M also uses the same GPU, which is also why the jump from 4060 to 4070 is negligible on laptops - the opposite of what you see on desktops. That's why it's almost never a good deal to upgrade from a 4060 to a 4070 on laptops.
@@GM-wx8ni That's not even the piss-off here. What actually is a piss-off is, MSI adding the "AI" name for absolutely no reason. Despite them having ) AI "functionality".
The Stealth GS77 i got a few years ago (i9, 64GB Ram, RTX 3080Ti) is still running strong, no issues whatsoever. I have heard the hinges on MSI are really bad but this one seems to be the exception.
The Msi hinge problem is mostly referring to recent but not most recent designs (GF63 thin, katana etc) that sadly weren't built well Older models like the gs63 and high end models (both new and old so vector/raider/stealth/titan etc) tend to be built quite well, my GS66 from 2020 with a 2070super is still going strong
I was planning between getting the gs77 or this and I know the a16 is of course newer im just curious to ask if the build quality and extra 600 is worth it. Plus I can get 2 year warranty for free on top for the gs77. Any thoughts?
Nothing is more gamer-like than that keyboard. If it really wants to be a stealthy laptop, they gotta change the font, and I don't mind it not having RGB backlight since I usually don't use it and makes it look more "normal", plus maybe it'll reduce the cost
i can confirm that the battery life sucks speakers meh keyboard rgb sucks honestly if could i would go back in time save myself the trouble and buy an old g16 with rtx 3070ti.
This intro made me spend 3 minutes trying to find out why the audio wasn't working, cause Factorio's volume was fine on my other monitor... I was playing the first few seconds over and over again to troubleshoot.
I had my computer outputting to my headphones at first instead of my speakers, and thought the silence was my fault. Then I realized I got pranked, in a sense. Well done 😆
@xnutzii your telling me that because of screen recording that his RTX 4070 is at 90% utilization. I would understand if it was intel laptop budget gpus, but its not
@@hey_how_are_ya Well, my RX 7900 XTX gets quite the high usage at 1440p (360hz), so I can't really say for sure. I was sure it's just the video codec having the high utilisation, but it didn't. Can't really know for sure - maybe they had the game running in the background and it doesn't support loss of focus.

I'm very surprised Alex didn't even mention that. Dumb question but can you just switch out the wifi on most laptops? I always figured that whatever a laptop's wifi was just part of the mobo and not upgradeable....or that the chipset determined it
depends on the laptop, but yes there's a standard slot for wifi cards, and like ram some manufacturers will solder it to the main board rather than make it swappable.
It's usually an M.2 slot, though it doesn't support SSDs, just the WiFi. Don't expect to see one on any recent MacBook, but most Windows laptops (unless it's an ultrabook) have it.
@@mcslender2965 Yeah of course, there's tons of issues with the ARM platform, but as someone that doesn't uses tons of apps and most of it is browser based (and I prefer it when the option is there), I don't care about it as much, I care about battery and cad work
This is like as souped up version of the thinkpad P1G7 but with AMD. On that topic, slotted wifi card is great to see, even though Qualcomm has improved their WiFi card drivers, Intel still does it better, and having a WiFi card slot means you can always swap it out

I don't understand the numpad on the laptop, the keys just become too squeezed together. I swear every laptop I see that I like the specs always has some weird keyboard layout. I don't understand why laptop manufacturers aren't just copying the MacBook keyboard, since to me that's the top tier in terms of laptop keyboards. The surface tried but didn't match the same build quality in my opinion. I'm probably like the 1% though that cares about this
I am curious as to what you think AI is, really. A lot of the core stuff has been around for >12 years now, and stuff like both training and using deep learned models is pretty much an everyday affair: if you use any kind of voice chat/calling chances are that you're using a deep learned (which technically is AI) model to do noice cancelling. Lot of authentication methods using biometric stuff (like facial recognition) also classify as such, and even if you go to the more "in depth" stuff, which generative AI such as a large language model falls into, a lot can be ran locally. If you download a tool such as MSTY, you can add offline models (or simplify it through that tool, but the model files themselves suffice), disconnect your ENTIRE network, and still have a very capable chatbot, which you can even edit/enhance through stuff like LMStudio. The fact that this hardware runs those models very well, is exactly nice because it means you can do it WITHOUT spyware. If stuff like copilot-online and ChatGPT/DallE worries you, you in theory should be exited by the fact that these machines can run this stuff locally. The fact that it comes with some implementations such as a fully offline auto-powerprofile manager is a nice 'gimmick' but also welcome.
keyboard layout is atrocious, The reason I can't get rid of my (2015) Alienware 15 r2 these modern gaming laptops feel cheap and nothing feature wise beats my current laptop...power wise absolutely, but if power were my only goal post I would just stay on my desktop...
I DID IT!!! I SOLVED THE PROBLEM WITH MY FC8 Alpha build! I swapped the A12 9800 APU for a Ryzen 2600E I bought from China. Yes, E variants are so rare I had to buy from another country. I hooked up an RX 6400 and BAM! It finally posts. Now I can hopefully setup both Windows 7/10 on 2 drives: 7 for 860 Evo M.2 SATA, and 10 for the 960 Pro 2TB, MLC NAND BABY. I'm also attempting to use an M.2 to PCIe cable that I pretty much bent to get it running the other way to the 5mm disc drive opening for a capture card. Here's hoping all goes according to plan.
I'm STILL salty about all the MSI hinge failures. Shame on them for how widespread that issue is and I will never get another laptop from them ever again I don't care how cool it looks
