Guga is right, you have to judge a restaurant by the bar they set for themselves. If they're trying to present themselves as an ultra-high-end place with prices to match? That's what you compare them to. If they're just a small cafe/diner trying to be just a cafe/diner, then that's how you judge them. And for the prices Salt Bae charges, you should be having A5 Wagyu with caviar.
still there's no reason to hate somebody for their choice of running a business, it's not like Salt bae is running around the tables punching customers in the face. apparently Salt bae's worth around $80M and if people are willing to pay the prices he asks then it's nobody else's business. Hey guga come to Fairhope Alabama I work at a assistant living place they never get food as good as you can cook would be awesome if you can make there day
Chicken fried steak tends to be a white gravy maybe heavy on the black pepper (like a bechamel while being thought of as a littler more Southern); country fried steak tends to be a light beef gravy usually with mushroom (like jaeger sauce). I'm a schnitzel (mostly German old) girl so I order it whenever I see it on travels just to evaluate it and make those two variants all the time (there are a few other variants in German cuisine that I'm not fond of - esp. a paprika one or those made from pork). However, it is a good dish to make cheap tough beef (like London Broil or round) serve as many people as possible by pounding the you-know-what out of it to tenderize and make a small piece take a lot of breading. It's best smothered in gravy (though my ancestor's are likely spinning in their graves at that suggestion) not just a healthy dollop. Its a composed dish - the beef isn't really there to enjoy except in combination and to have something to chew. A good piece of beef would be wasted on the technique as would any attempt to cook it less well done as juices would ruin the fried breading and red juices wouldn't work well with the gravy. Thanks for evaluating this kind of "steak"!
So is schnitzel supposed to have a heavy vinegar flavor? My wife and I went to a place with the in-laws and I ordered schnitzel and I could barely eat it. I don't like complaining, especially when someone else is paying so I just ate what I could and feigned a stomach ache for the rest. Guga, you should try the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant in Sevierville, Tennessee! My husband and I went for our honeymoon two months ago, and it was the best restaurant we tried. It’s located in the middle of a huge apple orchard, and they use the fresh apples to make complimentary apple fritters, hot apple butter, and apple julep for every customer. I'm old-old school Southron, (no misspelling for us wicked old families we Southron not 'southern') and when I eat Biscuits with Sausage Gravy? Half my biscuits are covered in Sausage Gravy heavy with sausage and black pepper, the other half? Butter slathered and in a puddle of Cane Syrup....an I just made my own self hungry. Pro-Country Cook Tip, freeze your butter and grate it into the flour/salt/baking powder mix, then add your milk/butter milk. As for measuring the sausage grease to flour mix amount, eyeball the amount of hot grease you got and add table spoons of flour to it until its almost fully absorbed. After you make that gravy base, throw the chunks of sausage back in it with an amount of black pepper that makes you think "that is way too much black pepper". Other than that, serve up with some freezing cold Southern Sweet Tea with lots of lemon or lime.
Finally! Someone else who eats their biscuits with cane syrup! We would always wallow out a void in the biscuits and fill them up with sugar cane syrup and eat them that way. It's a family tradition to show the little ones how to use their butter knifes to measure the biscuit properly so you don't poke through the other side and spill that delicious Steen's goodness.
Guga!!.... I don't know how to get directly with you. You like the Japan egg salad. I've never had it. My egg salad uses soft boiled eggs. Diced onion green pepper onion some red pepper flakes small amount of garlic. Dijon or spicy mustard your choice of mayo. And crisp up your favorite bacon. I usually let the egg salad sit overnight for the flavors to meld. But if you want each veggie to pop just chill and eat. I add the bacon while making the sandwich. I like my bacon well rendered and cold so the fat Is cool and creamy. Use the bread of your choice toasted or not.

Enough with roasting Salt Bae. It’s getting repetitive. At the end of the day, people are choosing to pay those high prices for a steak, and there’s nothing wrong with him capitalizing on that demand. Both sides are happy with the exchange

I live in the general area and have been to Loveless Cafe once. It’s good but not superior to other closer options to my home. Puckett’s is my more convenient choice for a southern food restaurant.
Guga, why don't you try to add Soy Sause to your stakes and burgers, instead of salt? The salt within Soy Sause is fermented, therefore better for the body, and it has a richer flavors, having said that... You can choose from a wide variety of Soy as well, so that also means a wide verity of tastes. I learned this in both Indonesia and India, and I will never go back to using salt only. I mix my burger meat with both Soy Sause and Indian Red Curry, and a pinch of sugar as well (sugar cane sugar, not the white bad stuff). Instead of just adding salt n pepper outside. The depth of flavor is amazing. Gordon is many times adding Ketchup in his burger meat, I understand it, but the end result is better with a few drops of vinegar, in my opinion.
We need a Guga meets Saltbae Christmas spectacular in Santa Claus hats, a long interview, hands-on review of the butchering and creating the raw chops and a thorough cooking segment. Both would only benefit while promoting steak excellence. Saltbae is quite a marketing force-however his underlying passion is steak....just like Guga.
His “underlying passion” is money. Anybody that was passionate about steak wouldn’t be serving gold wrapped Denny’s food and charging people 2 months wages to eat it.
From Europe: Guga, you are 100% right, many years ago, I paid £35 for a steak, but it was the best steak I have ever eaten and I am talking the best. As it was around 25 years ago I now consider it a bargain!! 🙋♀🙋♀👍👍

LOVELESS IS A TOTAL RIPOFF!! I collect cookbooks. My girlfriend stopped at the Loveless Cafe while she was on a business trip. They have a gift shop. My girlfriend got me one of the "Loveless Cafe" cookbooks. She gave it to me a week later. ALL of the recipes have some time of Loveless product in them. As in a garlic bread recipe would say "3 cups of water, One bag of Loveless garlic bread dough mix" or a recipe for a roast would be "4 pound rump roast, one cup of water, one bag of "Loveless roast seasoning". No quantities (2 cups? 16 ounces? 2 ounces? ) of the bag or can or jar of Loveless brand item. No substitutions of Bisquick or garlic powder or anything The ONLY way to make any of the 100 plus recipes was to buy the Loveless item (either in person or on-line) specifically mentioned in the recipe. TOTAL RIPOFF. Totally worthless as a cookbook.
I wish I had known you were coming to N'ville. I have so many wonderful places for you to visit. Pancake Pantry, The Pharmacy, Newroz Market (the #9 mixed meat shawarma wrap will change your life)... and that is just for starters.

Yes! They are amazing! But they get busy so prepare to wait.
I been watching Guga for years now and he keep it 💯💯
We need a Guga meets Saltbae Christmas spectacular in Santa Claus hats, a long interview, hands-on review of the butchering and creating the raw chops and a thorough cooking segment.
Nashville local checking in. Loveless is just a glorified diner. They’re consistent and decent quality, but aren’t worth a 90 minute wait.
From Europe: Guga, you are 100% right, many years ago, I paid £35 for a steak, but it was the best steak I have ever eaten and I am talking the best. As it was around 25 years ago I now consider it a bargain!! 🙋♀🙋♀👍👍
Those scrambled eggs look perfectly fluffy. I've never seen that before at a restaurant, they all seem to overcook them.
An hour and thirty minute wait?! Absolutely not worth it, sorry.
Me as a fellow Swede, Really want that knifeset. Unfortunatly I can''t afford it. Also you asked @Guga regarding saltbae first appetizer or PB sandwich, I am more for the Saltbea (if I could choose you make it instead). But again I can't afford thoose items. Great cover of the food, ty yet again Guga
agreed...anyone who says theyd prefer the1 sandwich are either vegan or 100% lying
that place is a tourist trap like the crappy places you visit abroad(in italy for example). you may as well go to a hard rock cafe or something. if you are going to review food, find somewhere thats actually good.
W vid. I always have a soft spot for motel diners
I've eaten at Loveless dozens of times but always breakfast. It is pretty good. Nothing I couldn't make better at home.
When Guga said "most famous motel"......
I was thinking Bates Motel.
That would be some scary food.........😊
Hi Guga, you look so fit and slim now, kudos! You are my motivation for losing some timber before the Xmas Feast!
Salt Bae living in Gugas head rent free
No one even remembers who Salt Bae is besides Guga haha
Great video, Guga! First, PB&J sandwiches, all day long. I agree with you. Food made with love beats food made for money every time.
In Australia those biscuits are called scones and we have with Jam and whipped cream
I wish I had known you were coming to N'ville. I have so many wonderful places for you to visit. Pancake Pantry, The Pharmacy, Newroz Market (the #9 mixed meat shawarma wrap will change your life)... and that is just for starters.
Pharmacy is legit. Good ass burgers
@@saikanonojutsu yes. Nashville has such an underrated food culture, especially among hidden gems of the ethnic cuisines.
glad you were honest with the patty melt, says a lot about ya character. Everything else was fire!
