The diesels still have oil dipsticks. I’m still peeved they got rid of transmission dipsticks back in 89 though. They stopped including mechanical LSD with cold weather package about 1992, when they started using ASC. FYI: My f31 has none of the rattles you describe, despite me having pulled it apart 2-3 times. It’s your particular handles that are the issue. Agree on the dust, my 340 caliper conversion with stock msport pads are the same. Thinking Hawk 5.0 for next set. you can get rid of the squeak by re- cleaning the pads and rotors with crc red brakleen (not green) and relubing pins. When you decide to pull the calipers to paint them, make sure you buy enough cans. And alternate coats from different cans, the mix is never identical between different batches of the same color, even with name brand paint. Simple and effective, VHT caliper paint in silver covers well and looks nice. Especially cleared. Or you can then go crazy with any other color as it is an excellent base coat. Mine are VHT candy purple over silver base. They look dark violet when not in the sun, but almost plum crazy purple when light falls on them directly. Best of both worlds. Both Subtle and attention grabbing. Powdered coating costs 3xtra time, money, requires caliper rebuild kit, and from what I’ve been told, will brown due to heat if you track the car. $50 in paint and a weekend and you can have some stellar looking calipers that are easy to keep clean.
Thanks for the comment! Interesting about the dip stick on diesels and the LSD. Did not know that! It is odd that my previous E90 335 did the same thing with the door handles. The trim on that car was stock aluminum. I have heard of other people complain about the same issue on the forums. Glad to know that you don't have that problem though! I actually just bought Hawk 5.0 pads, so that will be another install in the future :) So hopefully that will help with the dust. Good idea with the brakleen. I will give that a shot. For caliper painting, I plan to go with G2 Caliper Paint vs. rattle can. I have read good reviews on G2 and its applied with a small paint brush and dries evenly. A buddy of mine used it on his M3 and it turned out really nice.
@@accelerated_motion I went with spray after seeing pictures of some of the G2 painted calipers on f30.bimmerpost as well as others locally. They just weren’t up to my standards... seem to dry with a textured finish unless you really goop it on. Then it looks gooped on. Plus I’ve been told because of it, they are hard to keep clean. Mine jut rinse right off whilst cleaning the wheels like any other painted surface. (Plus I gave them a nice hydrophobic coating before I put them on) Othe than my can of base silver, I used two cans of color and nearly two cans of clear. The 340 brembos need a lot less paint than the Bosch single piston rears do, surprisingly enough. If you are doing g2 you may want to buy two kits to be sure you have enough. And don’t forget to bake them for a while at 250-300 in the oven, with spousal approval of course. Before you invest that much in g2, try one can VHT caliper paint and one can VHT clear and a $5 can trigger. For $35 they will come out much better and smoother than g2 will. And you can g2 over it, but can’t paint over g2. Make sense?
Hi. I'm an e92 325i owner. My car too doesn't have spare tire. You can however use normal tires. But then there's a concern of getting stranded when a tire goes flat. You can purchase this special goo that you can add in your tires. When you get a flat, that goo will fill your puncture until you can get to a tire shop. That goo is like tire sealant on a mountain bike tubeless tire

Hi Dave! The electric steering takes some getting used to. Initially, I did not care for it, but Ive had several newer BMWs since and now I am used to it.
