    My M140i is only running 411bhp/576nm at the moment, and has smaller tyres (245/35/18 on the rear), and the Pilot sport 4 tyres are pretty good really.

      It's still a bit sketchy in the wet, but in the dry it's really very good and I'd have to be a bit careless to spin it.
      The pilot sport 4S are even better in the dry, but they are much worse in the wet, so the normal pilot sport 4 are the best compromise I think.

    I live in California and I don't have access to good gas. Finding anything above 91 is difficult. I bought a 2016 340i m-sport a couple weeks ago. I love the car and the power. I am looking at an MST Intake, vrsf downpipe (high flow catted). I will eventually go stage 1 bm3. Do I need to change the charge pipe? I really like the burbles on the m sport exhaust - I just want them 20% louder - I like the deep tone and low-end pops nothing excessive though as I have neighbors and don't want to be "that guy"

    • @NWAuto
      @NWAuto  3 роки тому +2

      Glad they helped. I'm actually shopping for a 340i right now and I plan on making a ton of videos on that car.
      I don't get 93 where I live either. And from what I've read, you don't need to do the charge pipe for stage 1 on the B58. The charge pipe upgrade was required on the N55 because one end of the charge pipe was connected to a moving part(engine), and the other was connected to a non moving part(intercooler). This caused some flex and end would crack under high boost. The B58 doesn't have this issue because the intercooler is bolted to the engine. But you can still do the charge pipe if you wanna be 100% sure you will never have any issues.

    Hello NW Auto. I'm driving a 335i ActiveHybrid 3 with Stage 1 tune, so 400hp. It's doing what you describe in the video, hard upshifting with a noticeable kick. Especially when cold. When the engine warms up, it's much less noticeable. Higher gears aren't distinguishable, but lower gears are. This car was tuned in 2017, according to the previous owner. Does this sound like a tune thing, or something else? I did do both adaptation resets, and it might have helped a little, hard to say. I also cleaned my MAF. There are no codes. Basically first 20 minutes when driving cold, low gear shifts are quite punchy, and when slowing down to an intersection, turning right and applying more gas after braking, it might downshift quite hard and it feels like a kick from behind and it's trying to figure out what I'm doing. Trans fluid was changed and trans serviced like 2 years ago. This happens on all driving modes, sport, etc. Kicking might be the wrong word, it's more like, I can easily feel gear changes. The accelerator is also pretty eager, just by pressing my toe down on it, the car is already ready to fly, so there is no hesitation.

    • @NWAuto
      @NWAuto  3 роки тому

      I can't tell for sure what it is. Data logging might help. But for me doing the trans tune helped smooth things out. And I just made sure to let it warm up properly

      @@NWAuto I'll apply a fresh bootmod tomorrow, since the last tune was made such a long time ago, and in a shop. I'll see what that does.

      @@NicoEvaluates Yeah let me know if you figure it out. I'm curious about the issue

    • @NicoEvaluates

      @@NWAuto New bootmod3 is in. Initial shift from 1st to 2nd when cold is still punchy, but it does seem smoother now, though every lower gear still makes a very definitive "pause" and I can tell when gears shift. I'll try the stock tune some day, but it does seem better. I'm not sure if this is what you're experiencing as well with the tune.

    • @NWAuto
      @NWAuto  3 роки тому

      @@NicoEvaluates yeah I had that happen after installing my downpipe and going stage 2. But it only happened for a few minutes after cold start and got better as the car warmed up. I wonder if XHP flash could help with that

    For stage 1 can you leave everything stock including the exhaust?

    • @NWAuto
      @NWAuto  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah you can. But I recommend installing at least an aluminum charge pipe. The stock one is plastic and tends to break with higher boost.

      @NWAuto  3 роки тому +1

      @@AK-qj6mb I've been around a 335i that had a muffler delete and kept the stock resonated midpipe. It wasn't too loud. You could start with a muffler delete and then buy a performance muffler if it ends up being annoying. Or just do a resonator delete and downpipe.
