I would add the following: To adjust the cabin temperature setting, there is no sync. You have to turn both the driver & passenger knobs. Great catch by Brian on the center door locks! I woulda mentioned that one too if he hadn’t. But these cars are AWESOME! I love so much about my 335i even after 4 years.
Ya what’s up with no sync? My 2015 x3 has sync
My 2011 does, guess bmw went backwards on that one.
Ya mine too, need to adjust both. Quite annoying
@@MickeyGlover not an f30
Yeah, the E chassis had a temp sync. The F chassis lost it. But they brought it back with the G chassis. It’s just an F problem.
Justin I have been subbed for awhile now and you totally inspired me to get my 2016 340i I just purchased this past Saturday and already put on 500 miles lol. So happy with the purchased and blessed to be embraced by the BMW community. Cant wait for whats to come keep up the great content!! 💯💪🏾
Really appreciate what you do, just got a new car myself and watch a lot of your videos. Anything you do public subject you to a lot of negativity appreciate you weathering that and throwing out all the good content for those of us who want to see it much appreciate it
I did not use to b a fan of the F30 body style but it has grown on me a lot. The steering feels is the weakest part of it
I came from an e46 and noticed the steering right away. I upgraded the interior to cover the plastic with stainless steel covers. Looks a lot better (especially around the shifter base).
I think they changed the location of the oil filter on the newer engines due to oil housing leaks. BMW can’t seem to make a gasket to save their lives.
When I took an E92 for a test drive fifteen years ago, I immediately thought the steering feel was wonderful. I ordered one right after and have driven it 143,000 miles and never fail to marvel at the excellent hydraulic steering feel. I have been unable to consider buying an F or the new G series and give up on the great feel of my car. I don’t have the 335 but I have the more reliable 328 with the naturally aspirated inline six. The engine is incredibly smooth.
I agree w/ all these. I wouldn't categorize all of them under things I hate, but definitely falls in the "annoying" category. Hands down, my F30 N55 is the best car I've owned. I also do a lot of DIY on it. Although at times pricey, I've enjoyed the ownership experience.
Beautiful car man! I got the same one yesterday. White ext. w/ coral red int. very nice! I was fortunate enough to get it fully loaded w/ m sport package. Coming from a F30 328i I don’t have many complaints but I do agree with a lot of what you said. One thing I don’t like tho right off the bat about the car is that it has the infamous exhaust rattle noise. It only has 35k miles and the pin on the exhaust actuator valve rattles on start ups and when you give it some revs. Today I managed to just move the pin and keep the valve open. So far it’s fixed the rattle noise but I’m going to bring it up to the dealer when I take it into it’s first service. I don’t plan on modding it and I’m not too familiar with the B58 at all, so ima just have the dealer take care of whatever it needs. At least until the warranty is up.
Totally agree with you, F series is also my fav visual BMW… looks really agressive (in good hands) im really hppy with my F31 M3 optik but thinking about to go for a 35D or 40i not sure yet, anyways nice vid and nice car there 🙌🏻
When I copped my f30 back in March, the first thing I noticed was the crayon smell. I kinda liked it mixed with the leather smell lol
I just recently found your channel man I been stuck watching a bunch of your DIY videos love the content super helpful just want to say thanks a bunch this channel is super informative
thanks Justin I feel like I know you because I am going from 335 to 340 and I like your information. The only thing I'm bummed about is the steering it's almost enough to make me keep my E 90 since I have it all tuned and everything. I finally got the Carly after many hours to function in most things .
Due to pick up my first BMW, an f31 340i this Friday. Your videos have been really fascinating, helpful and inspiring to me. Thanks!
Glad I can help!
I have 2016 340 Xdrive - I drive an hour to work every morning and it’s the best part of my day - love the wheels Justin
I "LOVE" the light steering, fantastic, big change from my e88
Great video!
Thanks for making an appearance 😁
I got a f32 and I hate how the dealership is telling me I need to change my oil every 15k miles. Been watching your videos and learning how to do my own diy maintenence. Keep making great vids bro!
Every 15,000 kilometres. But do it yourself bro
In addition to all that was mentioned. I hate all the interior creaks in the car due to the plastic parts.
The steering feel is really tough. Having also come from an e90, I can't get over the numb feel. That said, I love my 440i gran coupe.
It’s gran, not grand…
@@X11CHASE auto-correct my dude.
Great commentary! The light steering is improved by switching to SPORT mode, but the lack of on-center feel really makes driving it more work than it should be!
Feel is different to weight.
thanks for posting the wheel links. been looking for the right wheel to replace the OEM wheels on a 330ci Zhp
I love my 2013 328i XDRIVE but I hate the interior creaks due to the plastic trims. The soft material on the interior door handles turn to melt/deteriorate after prolong exposure to sunlight. I still don't understand why an anti-theft system should be an option on a powerful beast of this caliber that costs over 40K bucks. But all the same, the driving pleasure is top notch!
Your car does smell like crayons lmao I thought after a year it would have gone away, but everytime we get in it’s like a box of Crayola 🖍
The smell comes from the sound deadening material in the car.
Better than my old G35 that smelled like bandaids. Both are easily remedied with some WonderWafers (leather smells great!).
Great video Justin! Been watching you since you had your e9x and I was still driving an ‘01 Camry… Oh how things have changed… Went to a BRZ around the same time y’all picked up an FRS, and recently sold the BRZ to move into a 340i to follow in your footsteps 😝
Lol that’s awesome! How do you like the 340 so far?
@@justinbuice absolutely love the power gains! and comfort and also usability of the 4 doors! Might be moving for work soon so the extra doors will come in handy :)
I concur on the steering feel. I owned an E92 and then got into my 340i.
Brian said it! Plus, I also would like the iDrive controller to be moved up. I have long forearms.
I have an F32 but something I hate is the OEM diffuser on the M sport bumper. The flat grey one. I quickly swapped it out lol
Also just got my full carbon spoiler today so cant wait to put that on
My first car was a 2011 BMW 328i xDrive. I got so used to the steering feel of it. So perfectly heavy. Had it for over 5 years and sold it a few months ago. Miss that heavy hydraulic steering so much. E90s and earlier when you turn the wheel you feel like you’re actually doing something. Now it just feels like nothing.
Not to diss but John Deere has that heavy steer feel too lol In Europe they try to make vehicles towards comfort. Even their trucks are light years ahead.
I just really can't understand why did they stop putting the window regulator buttons near the gearbox knob. Comming from E46 to E90 was a huge wtf in my mind and after over a year driving it, still can't get used to it and I miss it so much ! :D It was such a great and comfortable solution. The stearing you mention is what I love about the e90 tho. I love the wheels ! Big up
Love those wheels man was looking for something that really screams bmw for my f30 those hit it for me classic amd classy
Those wheels are awesome! It looks OEM + especially with the BMW center caps
Thank you!
I have had my 330i since May of 2021. It's an '18 that I got with 14k miles. I'll try to keep my cons/pros specific to the car and not how BMW's have been in recent years. I have been driving BMW's since 2004 when I was 20 and have had an 1999 E36 328i M Sport, E39 528i touring, E46 330i M Sport (all sold). We now own a 2017 X3 sDrive28i M Sport and my 2018 330i M Sport
Cons:
270 degree top down camera
No HVAC sync
Unnecessary to have individual air vent adjustment for driver and passenger
Door lock button location, on our F25 it's on the door, what gives?
Lane keep doesn't say which side of the lane is being detected with 6WB (I have the executive package)
No option to go wide with the rear view camera
Center console should have a latch to open it.
Leather could be of better quality
M Sport does not get factory tinted glass like other BMW models.
Run flat tires (yes, I know they can be replaced)
Car set latch system is hard to use
Pros:
Another BMW timeless design
B46 engine gets about 37mpgs on the highway
6WB cluster really makes the car stand out
Comfortable on long trips
M Sport package (Only way to get it)
4 Piston calipers up front
Ambient lighting and chrome accents on LCI model interiors
LED tail lights on LCI's
Touchscreen iDrive on 18's. I don't use it, but adds functionality
Automatic parking assistant
Extra crash strength on LCI's (car is safer)
I know I'm a bit late but I'm thinking about buying a 328i and while I know it isnt the same drive train some of this info is always good to know as I'm also coming from a E90 myself and I'm looking forward to it so much. I'll be watching much more of your videos and possibly making some upgrades to the car in the near future, loving your content my man!
Make sure you get a late 2014 or newer F30 328i. The timing chain guides are failing left and right on early N20s. I personally know 2 people that had failures, so I’d be very careful. I had a 2012 328i that I maintained religiously, but I ended up selling it at 72k mi because I wanted an I6 and I didn’t want serious engine issues down the road.
Nice wheels! I have the same widths you went with just with ec7's!, and the fitment is really nice.
absolutely amazing video skills you have Justin!
Thank you!
that red/black interior is sooo dope!! I wish my 328ix had that :-)
Thanks very much, contemplating a 2013 328 sports. This was helpful
I agree ill be purchasing one in the next couple months . cant wait
I have to say I miss the heavy steering from my '13 E70 X5 to the featherlight steering on my newer '17 F15 X5
By the way... I upgraded the oil filter cap to a billet aluminum one, so as the charge pipe.
New wheels look sick! ♥
have a 2016 340i as well and love it. The main thing I can only think of is the inner door handles getting sticky
had the same issue and then I ordered this plastic from Ali Express. Just put it over, no need to remove anything, it fits perfectly and is really cheap :)
You've done a really nice job with upgrades, it's a beautiful car! I have a silver over black 2018 340i xdrive. Nice car, but I miss my 2015 435i GC (mineral white over black and fully loaded). One thing that drives me bonkers with the 340i is the central locking system, specifically that I can't set the car to unlocked when I put it in park. There are several other minor things that I dislike, but most of them are vehicle specific (lesser equipment than the 435) and I liked the 435 body better. It's a damn shame some a**hole had to rear-end that one.
I totally understand the complaint about the steering feel, but I guess it doesn't bother bother me as much with the xdrive system I have (the steering feels different anyway). I've been driving BMW's since the mid nineties and this is now my second xdrive car.
Hello, Justin, I have a question. You had the E90, did you ever run into an issue where you cannot reset the oil service light? I replaced the oil level sensor but it still won't go away. The car is under 150K miles. I would appreciate any advice, thank you.
Just got 2018 340 awd. It has just about everything loaded... Driving package, executive package, premium package, cold package, of course M sport package....(they Don't call technology package any more), but it has navigation system, heads up display, Bluetooth, phone charger....and more. Love it, Just 27700 miles. Still have one year warranty (first owner bought it in February 2019). I had e90 (N54, first year, 2007). So i share with you all the same experience about the F30. It is the best looking (2016-18). Can't stand g20 look. So decide on the last year of F30. One thing about BMW, I 'hate' is that the power door lock button is at the center console. Do you think bmw wants to save a button so they could not have on each side of the door?
Just bought a 15 428i. First ever bmw and I absolutely hate where the door lock switch is.
Im in love with the steering tho. Its so smooth and light
Great video! If you are looking for a better steering feel the SPL control arms and tension strut help quite a bit, but as you said it'll never feel like hydraulic. Also Sway Bars are a pain to install, but sooooo worth it! Keep it up 👍
Those will help adjustability greatly, unfortunately won't enhance steering feel...will be more direct as a good result tho..
Best collab ever 😅
noice video loving the car i agree on the screen as ive just bought my first bmw a 335d lci model and it has rhe crap small screen is this a easy swap and is it just plug and play many thanks
Just got my F30 last week, so hyped stage 3 bm3
I just replaced my timing chain on my 2014 bmw 328i xdrive n26 engine. Everything went well, and I drove the car a little while seemed to run great no issues then when I was coming to a stop the front left of my car made a screech sound and it turned off and now wont start any ideas? Would help alot.
Your e90 looked so beautiful. I didn’t expect to drool after seeing the f30. I think I might get an e90 now.
Love my F30 as well, but I agree with almost every thing you’ve listed lol especially the unlock button being placed in the center of the dash
I SEE no issue with that. I can’t think how can your driver door be opened and the rest not. The Button there is great, the passenger can also lock or unlock the car if he/she wants.
Still driving my E90 but that F30 is sharp!! Especially after all the tasteful mods💪
Thank you! I miss my E90
Car looks sick 🔥🔥🔥 how I want mines to look !
I can’t imagine turning the wheel with 1 finger, lol. My E90 feels heavy even after driving my old FWD prelude for years before
I think the heavy wheel is what makes the E90 such a great car, makes you feel a little more connected with the driving experience! I drove my moms new(ish) Toyota Highlander and the power steering made it as light as a feather. It was so light it was uncomfortable to be honest, I’d take the heavy E90 steering wheel anydau
When i got my e90 i got scared that something was wrong with steering wheel how heavy it felt. Then i read on forums to see what the problem is but in meantime i fell in love with how accurate it feels and responsive. Turns out it is just BMW hydraulic steering wheel :D
What do you think about the wind and road noise isolation of the F30. There are some complaints in Europe.
Living in equator with a F30. I hate the AC temperature knob got melt and sticky to touch if I park under the sun for too long. Same goes to the door handle too.
This will be my next project car. Will attempt to get manual if I can. Then M3 suspension and bushings, LSD, VTT turbos, FBO the rest.
I have an F30 aswell (330e hybrid). Had an e92 before that.Thats why I follow you on YT.
I recently ordered an rubber trunk matt, but its not fitting because of the batterypack.
Maybe you want it? As an thank for your videos.
Will you wrap the roof black and get carbon mirror caps?
Loving the plate bro, here in England the fewer the letters there are the more expensive the number plate, something like that would be in tens of thousands of £££ 🤯
hi guys, I'm getting a f30, 335 xdrive msport package. it is originally from Canada and it has 61k miles. What are some things I should be looking out for and when I get the car and what should I do for the maintenance?
I love your wheels. Where can I buy them? I have a 2013 BMW 335i with staggered fitment, 19 inch wheels. Front sare 8.0 wide and rears are 8.5 wide. Front tires 225/40ZR19. Rears are 255/35 ZR19. Would love to buy the same wheels you have.
I just bought an F22 m240i for the wife. I am a manual driver on my cars but the 8 speed auto is brilliant
My biggest complaint with my f30 335i are the brakes I’ve gone through 4 sets they all squeal and it’s not cheap since it’s the m sport pads and rotors
whats your guys opinion on the 335d f30 im thinking on buying it
I hate the fact that I don’t own a F31 330d. Love the car dude, keep up the good work!
that car is beautiful man you have a nice style!! great job with the e90 and 340i
Thank you!
I just got a 2013 328i for my first car. Can’t wait to do things to it, but I’m not sure what to do first
Love my 330i xdrive with B48, ❤️ F30 was and will remain the best driver's car.!
i have f31 320d i love it starting to build as a sound car
I have 2016 528i 2.0 w spots + twin turbo. (305)
Love it
In Serbia, custom plate is around 1200$ and it is valid just for 5 years then you have to pay the same price to extend it for another 5
You have a very beautiful car, keep up the good work
Thank you!
I have owned my 2014 335i m performance with the xdrive for 4 yrs and small maintenance was all that was needed. I was taught you pay to play. Only people who ever talk down on one fully is one that couldn’t afford it, meaning anything that goes wrong and even upgrades. People ask me “ were do you go to get it worked on” well when you don’t truly have to work on them often you can easily do things yourself or take it to a professional shop that knows these and treats cars with respect that simple. I honestly would rather have the new b58 but this is my first bmw entry and by all means 2014 edition of the m performance xdrive was more than enough to get me started. Having that feeling of value while driving the f30 is always there. Constantly turn heads even though they are everywhere out there but make it your own and boom perfect car. Ultimate weather conditions too I have never been stuck once and even made a video of going up ice and snow after dead stopping on a San Fran style hill. They truly are ultimate but like he said they hold to much back sometimes saving it for the M series. I got every package I could get and it’s perfect. Other than the M240i thundernight metallic it’s uncompromising to any ride. $1500 can unlock the car to 400 easy hp and 400 in one of these feels like 600. I would say the only thing I find bad about the f30 is it glides up to blazing speeds so fast and so refined smoothly it doesn’t feel like you earn the speed but you can feel the power there. Very hard to describe. It’s like “oh man this is fast” then “oh I am already at 100+ hmm didn’t feel like it dang”
Hey guys, I have an 2013 f30 with xenon lights and would like to upgrade them to the adaptive ones that Justin has, is this possible???
Where can get non-plastic parts to replace all the plastic stuff?
My 340i makes that exact same annoying sound and I never knew what it was until stumbling across it in this video, thank you so much lol I’m finally gonna get rid of it
Fantastic video Justin, easily my least favorite thing about my f30 and now f80 is the lock button haha.
I love those wheels Justin! I went to follow a link to a maintenance item, and it was gone. The host left a comment, opinion I’m guessing, about BMW and their seeming lack of support for RTR “Right to Repair” movement.
I Love my G06! Ive been driving BMW since 2013 my first beamer was a F10.
Rattles from the dashboard/screen somewhere! Can't figure out where it comes from, and its driving me crazy..
Great video Justin, I’m envious of having professional Kies to set up your car. My 320i has no modification direction yet
I finally did some upgrades on my '15 320i. Have you figured what you want to do?
As for the steering I figured out that if you change the setting for the edc to be just steering and suspension it helps a lot but then you’ll lose sport mode. I only use sport plus or comfort anyways so not much harm for me
How do you compare Fs to Gs? I think the B48 engine is a decent amount more reliable, and the newer M sports drive great.
23 things I hate about my 2007 E90, but .... dang it's fun af to drive. it was a DIY'r before me, which left it in a mess, spent a ton to get it back into form. The straight six torque scares my passengers lol, but at least I know how to handle it now after a few years. Love your vids. keep 'em coming.
Can you do a video about sound system of the f30?
Absolutely LOVE my 335 I. Modified, but tastefully.
How about the base brakes?
What year is your F30? I love that color combination of Alpine White and Coral Red👍
I'm an owner of E90 318d and have just bought F30 330xd LCI and I must regretfully confirm that the steering wheel is much worse! but 258 hp vs 136 is nuts! :D love the 3L engine already!
The power is great. Remap it after a year if you ever get bored of the power.
@@ronniep9272what's the process of that?
Can you remote starter for 320i
One major thing i hate about 17" 330e... Every month i have to spray the rubber seals around the doors with silicone spray so the seal on the door and the seal on the body dont rub against each other and squeaks worse than a 1990`s Camry.
Other than that i love my car lol, hopefully getting it stage 1 tuned sometime this year so it goes from 252hp and 420nm on the wheels to 340hp and 550nm on the wheels. But honestly for now its more than quick enough.
The blinker lever man... it drives me crazy. At least it looks like they fixed it in the G20, the lever now actually stays in place when you're signaling.
You use your blinker? Come on man we are Bimmer drivers lol…..jk I freakin hate the lever
@@MotherViksChaat lol yeah man, first time I used the blinker in an F30 I understood why bmw drivers don't use blinkers... it sucks!!
Hah-hah - I thought I was the only one. I've always used blinkers, but my '15 320i is the first car where I don't bother using the blinkers!
@@MotherViksChaat I drive E92. People behind me must be thinking I'm mad, and don't know where I want to turn :)
I don’t know if someone can answer me question but I want to buy my first car, my budget is 24k, I want to know which car is best the bmw 3 series or the Subaru wrx? Because I am a manual fanboy but also I want the luxurious look of the bmw
What packages does your 340i have?
I hate on my F30 that I can't skip songs on the steering wheel, but I have to use the button on the center console, which is really flimsy to use and makes it even more annoying. I listen to podcasts while driving which I have saved to a flash drive. At times the system forgets where I stopped and starts the mp3 file right from the start. This is especially annoying when the podcast is 2 hours long and I got to fast forward really long.
Moreover they should have added a sync button for the temperature control , but I'm glad there's at least a knob unlike in most modern cars.
The paint looks really good!
How you can make Bluetooth calls but not play music on Bluetooth. Have to start the radio from the wheel (volume button which you can press to mute it doesn't work to start it)
I love the viewer segment at the end
The things I don’t like is the old leather smell I can’t seem to get rid of. And unlocking of the doors. Especially when I put it in park and it doesn’t automatically unlock
