  • Megyn Kelly is joined by Batya Ungar-Sargon, author of "Second Class,” to discuss the Democrats abandoning the working class, polarization as an elitist phenomenon, how most Americans are more tolerant and united than elites on the right and left, why minority voters care about illegal immigration and are turning toward Trump, and more.

    I used to live in a community in northern Virginia, where people were highly educated, had high incomes and lived in million dollar houses. A gal was at the local store, and her car broke down. Nobody came to help her. If I had a set of jumper cables, I would’ve helped her. Retired to West Virginia. One day I was at a local store in my small country town and I saw a girl whose car broke down. She needed a jumpstart. At least six people pulled over within 15 minutes around her car all trying to help. She was on her way in 20 minutes. The people in West Virginia are all working class. The moral of the story is if you have trouble you better hope you’re in West Virginia and not amongst the highly educated, rich folks, who live in the big city. These working class hillbillies are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

    I am an older Republican. I am not a Trump fan, but as things stand I will vote for him loooooonnnnggg before I will vote for Biden (or Kamala or Gavin). My disagreements with Trump are not about his goals, but rather his means of accomplishing those goals and his character. My disagreements with Biden and the Democratic party are far more visceral. They actively tell me they hate me every single day. They hate my values of patriotism, faith, family, honor, decency, logic, reason, and freedom..... to name just a few. They have shown through the legal system (and with idiots like Judge Engoron and Ketanji Brown Jackson) that they will do ANYTHING to exert dominance over the country. How could I possibly want what the Democrats offer for the country I love?

    I'm a retired working class American. I worked in construction and the biggest problem I had most of my adult life was competing against illegal migrants for bids on jobs! The DC elite of both parties kept passing the buck on illegal immigration, talking a lot, but never doing anything about it! So, when Donald Trump came along and made his whole campaign about securing our border, I was all for it! Even though it was too late to help me, it could help other legal Americans who were still having to compete against the illegals! The biggest problem with the DC elite is, they think they were elected to "rule over us," instead of serving us!

    • @88wildcat
      @88wildcat Місяць тому

      The problem with that is that many of them are in positions in the government that you can not vote them out of. You don't vote people out of the IRS. You don't vote people out of the CIA. You don't vote people out of all of those government regulatory agencies and bureaus. Once they become a federal unionized employee they are harder to get rid of than bedbugs. (Which they are similar to in other ways as well.) All of those agencies and bureaus are aligned with each other and will strike back en masse against anyone that tries. You try to take jobs away from these people you will face the wrath of the IRS, the intelligence agencies, the DOJ, the EPA, the NRLB, the FTC, and every other acroynm in Washington or northern Virginia you can think of.
      The problem isn't in electing different politicians. The problem is the inability to shrink and reduce government size and power and the unwillingness to cross the bureaucracies that is necessary to do so. Everyone has their own skeletons in Washington D.C. Everyone else in that town knows those skeletons and no one wants those skeletons exposed and if someone somehow has made a career there without acquiring those skeletons they do not want to be Seth Riched or Boeing whistleblowered while going up against this system.

    The problem the working class sees with healthcare is that their costs have skyrocketed because of obamacare to pay for people who don't work.
    People who work hard for a living don't want handouts they want to be left alone.

      You are right on the money. I have a friend who is full time disabled. Her medical expenses are paid in full. She pays nothing. I work & I’m lucky to have insurance. I pay $400 a month & it’s 80% them 20% me. I still pay a fortune out of pocket. Unfortunately I have a lot of medical issues. I sure wish I didn’t have to work & my healthcare was free.

      @@lorimoffat2444 I would argue disabled is a different thing all together. If you are disabled and can't work I actually think everybody is on board helping that person out. Now if that person is abusing the system then theres an issue. I mean healthy people who live off the government and refuse to work.
      Its a pretty big slap in the face to go into work everyday work hard and try to do right by your family only to have the government come in and overtax you amd overcharge for healthcare because a rather large percentage of the population refuses to work.
      Grew up with nothing but poor and working class folks they don't want a handout. They just wish people would quit reaching into their pockets and turning around and giving it to someone else.

      Citizens should get first chance at services, benefits & welfare. Not illegal economic migrants. Welfare to illegals is ‘sugar on the table’ to attract more. Jobs should only go to valid citizens & legal immigrants. Expel illegals who cannot prove asylum status or who cannot support themselves if not actually valid applicants. No amnesty for illegals so less pull for more illegal invaders.
      DACA dreamers should go to parents’ home country to apply for visa to USA as legal permanent residents, then same rules as for other foreign legal immigrants. Show that legal US citizenship is more important to the USA than the wishes of alien individuals. Any with criminal records will be assessed just like other foreigners applying to enter USA. Otherwise, remain as undocumented or leave for good.

    Megyn Kelly described the Liberal elites a lot, like how the elites we see in the movie "Hunger Games." The irony in that movie is the fact that nearly all of elites wore colorful hairstyles much the same way as the modern Liberals do. The only difference in that movie and reality is that most of the colored hair Liberals are mostly middle class while the rich snoody Liberals are the elites. All that the Hunger Games did was combine the two. Another ironic part of this whole thing is that the Hunger Games depicted the downfall of Socialism which the government of the Hunger Games were, they were Socialistic. The entire practice of the government in the Hunger Games was 100% Socialistic. Here's another ironic thing to think about. Most of the actors, such as Jennifer Lawrence, played in this movie depicting Liberals in a negative light and depicting Socialism in a negative light, but yet these very same Hollywood elites do exactly what the villains of that movie do. They snub their noses up at the working class as if they were deplorables. They also support Socialism which is a mirror image of the totalitarianism displayed by the government in the Hunger Games.
    There is a distinct parallel of the rich elites in the Hunger Games and modern day Liberals.
