If your talking about gig workers, they are independent contractors. After opportunity cost, taxes, and expenses they make around $8.11 an hour when broken down. Also these workers don't pay unemployment insurance through Medicaid, medicare or social security. So they are not paying into the system. 16% of the country is doing these kinds of gigs, which is the reason the unemployment rate is being manipulated. It's a lot higher than 3.9%.
