It's very sad as they miss out on really everything India has to offer like that, sure the big boy castle in jaipur is neat, but there's great castles in Turkey, Switzerland, France, many places, but nowhere has as good of food, as rich of culture, and as friendly of people as India/Nepal/Lanka.

This looks like the exact same place my driver brought me on my first trip to India a few years ago. It was on the drive from Jaipur to Agra. I refused to buy anything there and the driver was pissed off because he was due to get a free meal if I ate in the restaurant. There's a smaller room near the main restaurants where the drivers all eat for free, massive platefuls of food. I ended up just buying a lassi for 300 rupees.

Update: I went to visit my parents in New Zealand, and I found one of those MAGNETIC chess boards in his room! Dad bought one sometime later on the trip 😂 He got it for ₹250 at the local market luckily 👍 Basically, where the bus stops, you use the toilet, then go to the small shop next-door or across the road 🙏 Dosto, all of these souvenirs are mass-produced. Don't think they're rare, they're sold everywhere in Rajasthan. If you want better prices, wait till you get to Jaipur and shop at the many vendors near Hawa Mahal. Your hotel souvenir store will probably have fairer prices and more reliable quality products than Motel Gangaur too. Fake marble is a big issue, usually, it's alabaster which is more chalk-like. Always bargain, but realise you won't get the local rate and will always pay 10-20% over it. Always check your bill at restaurants because some bad ones add on additional items. This video was filmed just before Lockdown.

Honestly Delhi and Rajasthan is a bit too much for us "foreigners" Lol (no hate to local people though) Okay so I too went to a delhi shop and the shopkeeper, he thought of me as a foreigner and spoke to me in English. I wanted to buy a skirt and he said to his partener in hindi that "bhav doguna karde konsa fark padhega" which means double the original price of the skirt doesn't matter to them. I got SHOCKED 💀💀💀 For a sec I was like bro what??? but in the end of the bargaining I TOLD HIM BHAI SAB MEREKO URDU AATI HAI 💀💀 He laughed (I don't know what was funny tho) But yes I didn't buy anything from that shop haha

It’s happened to me in India & Indonesia BUT the shock I caused when berating them in their dialect was priceless…. My friend is a Kenyan Indian who has lived in Britain since she was seven. Despite speaking Hindi, when she visits relatives in India they tell her to let them do the talking because the scammers will pick up on her accent and bump up the prices.

I'm still pissed off about getting scammed when I was 11 in Chinatown, NY. The Girl Scouts went on a trip to NYC and the first store had chopsticks for $10, the next one had the same chopsticks for $3, the next store $1. I was only 11 but that lesson has stuck with me for 50 years.
Same things happens when you travel interstate. The bus drivers will have some commission from hotel where they stop for breaks - Could be for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, etc - Bloody Ripoff! Its common for both local & International tourist. If you want to avoid expensive stuff, do window shopping and restuarant hopping wherever possible, a bit of hustle but you will save a alot.

I live in Nagpur and a restaurant has very delicious veg food paneer butter masala for only 70 rs and pulao for 70 too both 1 plate and the 1 plate does the meal of two people it’s fully hygienic, tasty 😋.

Same things happens when you travel interstate. The bus drivers will have some commission from hotel where they stop for breaks - Could be for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, etc - Bloody Ripoff! Its common for both local & International tourist. If you want to avoid expensive stuff, do window shopping and restuarant hopping wherever possible, a bit of hustle but you will save a alot.
