Off all the encounters I had with the police here, they've been really respectful and only seen troubling them if there's a sign of malice. The Islamic scripture absolutely DOES NOT teach such blasphemy. Especially with non-muslims, there is no reason to hate them unless they were to perform an act on you. Generalizing non-muslims to be the root of all evil is a terrible thing to do. We have "Muslims" on our side who perform horrible acts on their own Brothers and Sisters. Islam is a religion of choice. When you wrote in the "Verse of Quran" you did not write the surah non-muslims have absolutely no idea about, you only wrote the numbers which made me ever more suspicious of your acts. But it seems like Pakistani police and authorities is taking extra measures to ensure guests have a good time and to promote tourism. There are bad people in every country and city. Police best interest to look after you. You represent 99% to 100% tourists in the area. Anything bad happens to you is super bad tourism for them. Either bad experience or whatever extreme mugged and killed on the streets. I don't think the government wants to stomach either outcome. Imagine the news gets out. In the smaller cities there might be some security problems so that is why the hotels are instructed to send a security guard with any foreigner who is leaving the hotel for a walk. It is for the well being of the foreigner. It is only for the security of the guest so that he doesnt face any unwanted situation or trouble. The hotel guys were bound to provide you the security during your walk but perhaps you denied them or probably they made a mistake. The Police guy did a wonderful job. Sometimes even if a Pakistan national visits some other city, he may face a scam, fraud or theft and you are still a foreigner. Salutes to the Police guy who fulfilled his duty in a best manner. Karl. I'm someone that's grown up in the West but I was born in Bangladesh. This might seem intrusive and scary but generally the cops want to keep foreigners safe. This man did you a favour. He was looking out for you. His idea of giving you a drive was his way to go to an extra length to be hospitable. What he didn't understand is that someone from the west values their freedom over being looked after. I would've been irritated as well if this dude was harassing me even though he was coming from a good place. It's a hard thing to adjust to. But sometimes these small towns harbour dangerous criminals. That's why he laughed at your naivety. Still, I understand where you are coming from. The title in the video is misleading. He didn't bust you. He was trying to be a gentleman but someone from there will never understand why you wanted to be left alone. The privilege we often take for granted in the west for security is not evident in a rural town in the sub continent.

As a person who has lived here (hometown) and worked there all my life, the Poilce Officer was rightfully there to protect you. Nankana Sahib though filled with beautiful places to visit and many things to offer to the Tourists, is also not far from crime. The town itself is very small and though safe during the day, surrounding villages can harbour some bad people out at night time.
Hope you enjoy your stay there and stay out of trouble.

Being western I’m oblivious to the area. Was the concern for safety for overall criminals or like an organization in the area? I understand being foreign would be a case for concern, just wondering what specifically? Also great job to that officer!

@@SinkingShips1998I think it was just an overall unsafe place to be walking alone at night. We have the same in New Orleans. Here, you're never very far from a bad neighborhood. Plus filming with the camera makes one look like like a tourist. I love the videos, but I think the local police know their area and were looking out for him. Props to them.

I would have been more scared to follow them than to just walk alone! Egypt is the same way. Police not wearing uniforms demanding you follow them. Scary as a foreigner because you don't know what is real or fake

They really cared for him, they are cops they know what is going on, they are just doing their duty, you guys should understand. Not all places are safe without personal security, Im from south asia I would be very grateful to the cops in this kind of situation. Many people go missing every year, you guys should be understanding. I sense the situation and the cops are doing their duty rightly in this situation, they have intelligence and there must be a reason they ensure his security

I am an American. I was in Rio De Janeiro for a month on business in 2018. My chauffeur was also my security. I went nowhere in public without him. You were fortunate that the police were truly concerned about your safety. They knew something that you were unaware of. It is not wise to go roaming about after dark alone in an unfamiliar place. You could have gotten kidnapped or much worse.

Happy this worked out well for you and that you encountered ethical and well meaning police officers. Also being an international traveler I know exactly how you felt. I've had some incidents before where I barely escaped abduction and violence.

His situational awareness is very poor, not only were they telling him it wasn't safe, he was being watched by everyone and was the center of attention holding a camera by himself at night. Foreigner with money all by himself, for someone who travels a lot like he said, it is kind of mind blowing he would put himself in a situation like that.
