Hi Loma, Again, thanks for your kind words, so glad you are enjoying my video projects. Hopefully one of these days you will make one of these projects, start with o easy one, like the first video, Leaded Glass Solar Lantern for Beginners. That one is great for the beginner. Thanks for your comment and have a great day. Regards, Bill Stone
Hi Sylvia, So nice to hear from you again and thanks for your kind words, makes all the hard work to put these video projects together even more special to me. I love sharing these projects with others!! Again, thanks for your comment!! Regards, Bill Stone
Hi Brad, When I cut the glass, I always use a straight edge, so each piece is the same size, 1" 3/4",1/2" and so forth. Then I set up my project with the U Came and the H Came so the glass just slides into the channels on the Came. These small projects don't need to be glazed. Just make sure your glass is all the same size and they will fit tight in the channels on the Came. Thanks for your comment!! Hopefully this answers your question. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Hi Craige, So glad you are going to make one of my video projects. There are several to pick from. The solar lights are the tops off the garden path lights you put in your yard. The ones I like are from Amazon, sold by Maggift Solar Pathway Lights and come 12 to a box for right $25.00. I have used them in almost all the solar lanterns I have made on my channel. If your new to stained glass, check out my very first solar lantern video, called Leaded Glass Solar Lantern for Beginners!! It has a lot of ideas and talks about lead came and tools need to make these projects. Best of luck on your project and let me know how you make out. Please feel free to ask me anything about these video project. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone PS: I was in the Dollar Tree Store the other day and they had solar lights for $1.25 each. I don't know how bright they are and how long they will last. Check them out if you have a Dollar store close to where you live.
Hi Austra, At the time I purchased that cutter it was being sold through Delphi Glass and it was just called Lead Came Cutter. I hesitated to put it in the video because I don't think the company is still in business. You might find one on E-Bay for sale. It is 20 + years old!! It works great if you are making a project that has a lot of lead came in it that is all the same size as this project. Thanks for your comment, sorry I couldn't have been more help to you with the cutter. Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
@@billstonesstainedglasscrea3310 Hi Bill Delphi glass do a lot of you tube videos too, I'll look into it & see it doesn't matter if there not available but worth a try, Thankyou you are always helpful, have a great day 😁
Hi Austra, Nice to hear from you again, your right it isn't something you must have to make these projects, it is something I saw at a friend's shop, and I just needed it for some reason. I have used it over the years when making my larger window projects where you have a lot of pieces all the same size as on a boarder around a window. I don't know if you have looked at the video with some of my larger projects in it. It's called WHAT DO I DO WHEN NOT MAKING THESE UA-cam VEDEOS. There are several windows where I used it to cut the lead came. Hope you have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
@@billstonesstainedglasscrea3310 Hi Bill Yes I did watch them & I live all the windows, I just thought id check it out as I'm going to make a few of the lanterns & projects for the garden, if I can't find it I'll just use the normal cutters, just trying to make my life as simple as possible 🤣 Thanks Bill have an awesome day
Hi Austra, Nice to hear from you again, glad you enjoyed the video on the larger projects. They are always fun to design and make!! I'm working on a new video right now called "LOLLIPOP SRINNER" should have it posted by next weekend. It's another off the wall idea I had and wanted to try and figure out how to make it all work. Enjoy your day!! Regards, Bill Stone
Hello! I am going to attempt to make your 3 lantern hanger. I have a questions I need to get an answer to before I start. You recommend using RU70 Lead came and RH9 Lead came. I'm having a problem finding lead came by those names. I know what the letters stand for but everything I see is by a size. Could you tell me the size lead came I need to look for? Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi Lee, Nice to hear from you and thanks for your comment. Yes, the came sizes can get confusing at times. The two sizes I use are RU-70 Face Width of 1/4" and a channel width of 5/32" and the RH-9 has a face width of 5/32" and a channel width of 3/16". The RH-9 H came is what they call high hart which has a larger channel than the RH-8 which is a standard size came. The RH-8 has a face width of 5/32" and a channel width of 5/32", Both the RH-8 and RH-9 H Cames work great for these projects. I like the RH-9 because it has a little larger channel and works better with thicker glass than the RH-8. I hope that helps you out. All of these Lead Cames are made by Cascade Metals, and they have a great chart showing all the different sizes of came and different styles also. Chech their web page and you can print it out, it is in decimals, but there is a box to check to turn them to fractions. So glad you're going to make the project, be sure to make a form so all the panels will be the same size. Thats super important to make them go together right. Do you have a glass supply store in your area?? If not try the internet, I just typed in Leaded Came for Stain Glass in the search bar and there are all kinds of places to get Lead Came, some even have free shipping. Also, you might want to check out my video called Leaded Glass Solar Lantern for Beginners, it's the very first video and has a lot of info if you are just getting started. Let me know how you make out, and please feel free to ask me anything about these video projects. Have a great day and best of luck on your project. Regards, Bill Stone
Hi Bill, Thanks for your question on the paper clip clamps. They are made using a standard 1 1/4" paper clip. In the center there is a lip that is bent over between where the metal finger livers are hooked to the paper clip. I just take a pair of flat noise pliers and bend it to a 90-degree angle and then I take a pair of long noise pliers and bend it on over to make small fingers on both sides of the paper clip. When you open the paper clip you can put these small fingers between the glass and the lead came to bring them together. I hope that makes sense to you!! If not send me another reply and I will try to give you a better answer. I have had several subscribers' ask about these clips, maybe I should do a short video on how to make them!! Have a great day!! Regards, Bill Stone
