About a year ago I reviewed the original DF83 V1, and it was my favorite grinder at that point and remains an excellent value grinder today. And in that year, the DF83 gained a second revision and now has this, the DF83V. A new version of the DF83 that has been flipped on its side and now features variable RPM.

Great video, really interested in checking this one out
You truly have the best videos.
Love my DF83
what about the timemore 078s? I'd be good to see a comparison with filter and espresso using the stock burrs
Great video as always. Would you recommend something like the DF64V or gen 2 with SSP MP burrs over this with stock burrs, for both filter and espresso?
Thanks for the short summary of the DF83V! What are your thoughts of this grinder vs the Weber EG-1? I am considering the DF with SSP MP burrs for both filter and espresso and would be interesting to hear your view of the grinder versus the "end-game"
the EG1 is a different beast, working on the script for that review now
I have an original DF83 and just ordered its replacement. While I might be vilified for saying this, the DF83 (at least the 1st gen) is loud, equipped with poor parts (the chute, for example) and I think its grinds are inconsistent day to day. While this new DF83V is likely superior, I don't trust its build quality after living with the original for over a year. I should have just purchased a Niche Zero which seems to be better built and designed.
I had my original DF83 for over a year before it was taken off bar, the chute on that one could've definitely been better, and it was loud, but I didnt have inconsistency issues (although I was aligning it after every deep clean)
I am really considering this grinder. However, I just had to return a df64 gen 2. The QC was horrible. It kept clogging, produced a ton of fines, and was so out of alignment I couldn't get it right. The risk of getting a bad QC is the only reason holding me back. I'm nog sure what to buy
Which is better to choose Eureka Xl or DF83V?
Good Video, thank you! I have one Question: What kind of stand is that your kettle is sitting on? Seems like the Tally Pro fits perfectly underneath it. Since i have the same setup this is really interesting to me. Thanks!
its the Stakk by FDM by OptikalBlitz on Etsy!
@@itsxris cheers mate!
Missed opportunity for "Turin can't be Frigga'n stopped!"
Matching color with white lelit bianca ❔
Have you tried MP and Cast/LS SSP burr on it? Thanks!
I have not
Question… is the Linea Mini decals letting in the front drop tray stickers?!?! I’m about to order mine upgrading from a Rocket Mozzafiato and I’m shocked to learn that they can peel off from factory? Is this true? Rockets badging is bolted on and looks amazing but LMLM is a sticker!? Can you confirm this please!
it is but i dont think it will peel off without high heat
@@itsxris gotcha. Thanks man
How is the espresso dlc burr for milk based drinks? Med-dark beans
Fantastic for those. If primarily milk based drinks though I'd save a few bucks and go for the DF64 Gen 2
I won't buy from Turin or Espresso Outlet because Joe Kolb is profoundly racist, unfortunately I found out after I bought my DF64, choose MiiCoffee instead
What happened? Care to elaborate?
To tarnish my reputation on the Espresso Aficionados FB group Joe Decided it would be a good idea to Photoshop a very racist DM and send it around to various members of the group. When I confronted him he didn't deny it
78s is better than the DF83 in pretty much every way
Lol would love to hear your explanation
Probably , but that 78mm burr size isn’t ideal if you want to play with burr options.
@@h3yn0w if SSP produce a 78mm burr for the Timemore then it will solve this issue.
@@allen.t sadly just true fact! Even having to wake up in the morning to look at that poor design, quality and horrendous bellows.
@@DanielLowe15 sure, but they don’t right now. And likely never will since not many grinders support it.
