Wish someone would talk about the speed control and how it can effect the taste in the cup. I have been running 500 rpm for now. Seems to provide a good taste profile on Espresso.
Thank you. Do you find the grind setting dial very tight? I have been using it for a few weeks and find it hard to turn the dial with one hand especially ok finer settings. I often have to make adjustments by turning it with two hands. Ttank you.
Short, stayed on topic and to the point quickly! Good video Hoon. One FYI is that RDT significantly reduces retention if you don't want to use the bellows to 0.1g
I purchased it last month with the lab sweet burrs preinstalled and Miicoffee even sent me a before and after picture of alignment of the burr. Been using it with pour over and drip coffee. Planning on buying my first espresso machine this week. Hoon how is the 83mm Sweet Labs burrs with espresso?
My Turin DF83V arrived yesterday, ordered over a month ago, it was on backorder. Played around with it today, could not get the espresso quality grind. It was very coarse. And I had a lot of static, bean grounds flying everywhere. A little disappointed.
i went from niche zero to df64v + ssp mp, night and day improvement in terms of filter coffee especially. it pretty much sits on the other end of the spectrum, much more clarity and separation of flavour
Same question here. I have the 64 gen 2, and ordered the 83v with the dlc brew burrs. It seems like the 64 has more espresso focused burrs, and the 83v had more brew burr options. I figure I can add an ssp upgrade to the 64 for only $180, instead of $350 like on the 83v
Hello Hoon, What’s a good grinder that’s in the $300+/- range? I have a Breville infuser Espresso maker but I currently do not use it due to not having a good grinder at home. I would love to have a set up like yours but unfortunately I can’t not afford it, maybe someday I will lol! I do know when you started this channel you didn’t have all the bells and whistles that you have now. Your espresso machine did have a grinder in it though. What would you suggest for a good cheap/budget friendly espresso grinder for someone who is new to at home espresso?!
That choo choo train look is just not doing it for me. But 83mm lab sweets and static control for filter is enticing. But not as enticing as keeping my money in my pocket
I keep going back and forth between the 078s and df83v.
Which did you buy? I've just ordered 83v
Yes. I really want one Hoon.

People have done this plenty of times on other RPM grinders. General consensus is that it makes a difference on pour-over.. Not so much for espresso.

I definitely want one, although it's going to be a little bit before I can get one (for personal finance reasons). Will get the SSPs when I do.
How loud is that? Sounds a bit loud in the video.

Is this as inconsistent as a DF83 v2, with the moving zero point and grind size?

Had the same with df64v with ssp sweet lab out of the box had to replace it with espresso burrs
Hmmm upgrading my Df83 or getting a 83v will be a tricky choice 😅
Stock Turin DF 83v and an Ode with SSP-MP burr set...
Hoon what are your top grinders you use? I currently have a MC4 and love it. But wanted another grinder to get more clarity out of my espressos 1:2
heyas! hoping for some advice between a DF83V (upgrade burrs later) vs P64? Thanks!
Nice video ! How is DF83V in comparison to timemore078s you reckon ? Which one would you recommend more ? Thanks !
how do you like this grinder compared to the niche zero? I have the zero but mostly drink lighter espresso, so i'm debating on the df83v
i went from niche zero to df64v + ssp mp, night and day improvement in terms of filter coffee especially. it pretty much sits on the other end of the spectrum, much more clarity and separation of flavour
Coming from DF64 gen 2, is it worth upgrading to the the DF83v?

Do you think the DF83v can compare to quality to Mahlkoning EK43? As advertised?
350!!! That is pretty criminal...wow!

Yah, I buy too. Wanted Zenco but not going to pay hundreds of dollars and wait 5 to 6 months while they collect interest on my money! Ripoff!

Looks ugly and cheap
