  • There's certain needs and musts when it comes to a camping cookset. A camping cookset must be able to withstand the rough and tumble of the outdoors, exposed to the elements. That is what we are looking at today! What I believe to be the ultimate cookset, my favourite camping cookset - The BCB Crusader Cookset MK2. Developed from stainless steel, the kit consists of Osprey 58 pattern genuine issue canteen and cup, a cook pot and a stove (developed for multiple fuel sources) all contained and neatly nestled into it's own multicam molle compatible pouch. It's a one a done purchase! Check it out!

    Finally got one. It's a great bit of gear. Partnered it with a US GI Mess Tin as my fry pan

    I've swapped out the plastic cup for the mark 1 steel cookpot and then you've got 2 cracking cookpot options or drinking vessels.

    I use pretty much the same setup apart from the plastic mug. Thanks to a friend I have sourced an 85 pattern mug which fits on top.

    A bit hard to get those in Australia, so it's the mighty Trangia with gas burner in summer fire ban times & the just as mighty Kelly Kettle Trekker Ultimate the rest of the time. A Firebox Nano is the go for hiking. Thank you for sharing.

    I have this kit this is the mk2, it goes to mk4 all slightly different.
    Its anodised aluminium not stainleess steel. Most in military ditch the plastic cup and just use the cook pot. Puch not brilliant but ok .
    I use the osprey canteen and an americal type stainless steel. And have two puches for these. Cook stand i put in a pack for when cooking or having a brew.
    Good bit of kit generally bullet proof. 2 canteens will give you 2 litres water, not zuch a lot but yoew up and have basic melals with this set up.

    The USGI canteen cup is comparable. The UK canteen is far superior, though.

    Just shows, you dont need to spend ££££s to get good kit. Your local army surplus store might just have something that will do the job nicely. Cheers lad.

    Wish they would produce this with an internal fitting steel lid with drain holes for the metal cooking pot part like the GI a type kits. The plastic lids the make are useless.

      If you’re in the UK there’s a guy who makes aluminium lids for mk1 & mk2 crusader cups (with and without drain/straining holes) to order. I’ve had two in the past and they’re really good.

    • @nothinglessness
      @nothinglessness 6 місяців тому

      @@iwan_teamloz I have one of those but it would be much nicer if the Crusader came with a made to fit internal fitting lid like the American GI mugs.

    I just don't get it, really bulky, heavy, not very cheap, and that plastic pot bit you all call a cup is not a proper cup its a pot with a wide surface area exposing your hot drink to the cold. They were that shape for heating ration packs, pretty useless at anything else. Just my opinion though, don't shoot me 🙂
