Thanks mate. I have been to Oakley which is great for fungus at the right time of year. This is Hay Wood near Rowington and Baddesley Clinton. It’s great for a walk or a day. ATB🏕🍻🌳
@@warwickshireoutdoors Ah I've not been there for ages. Yes, Oakley has some great fungus (King Alfreds cakes etc) - something I'm starting to get interested in
Hello hello hello !!!! Thank you very much for the kind words. Very much appreciated. Works very well with fire rope or Trangia burner. Thanks all the best my friend. 🌲🌳👍
Cracking video mate. I just ordered a crusader yesterday and can't wait to get it. I was going to use my trangia but now I might get those blocks. A real space saver. Also, hats off to you and your tarp. Gotta love a tarp!
Hi just discovered your video, I've just ordered this kit so this was interesting to see, just subscribed so will work my way through your other adventures, thanks & best wishes
Excellent mate. I still take mine out now and again or parts of it. Thanks for watching. Out for a walk tomorrow. I hope you have a cool weekend. ATB 🏕🍻🥾
A Cusader and a Dixie is a good for 2 can fry steak onions gravy peas n corn and instant mash. It's awesome after a 15km to camp hike for dinner and camp overnight. You got 2 pots add a mess tin gourmet kitchen lol. You can bake bread in a crusader and all.
Thanks for this video - I really felt that I was there! I have had the Mk.1 Crusader for a while, but just upgraded the cooker unit to the Mk.2. As this is higher, the cup sits more in the sweet spot of the flame, so decreasing the cooking time. Your meal looked tasty, just the thing for such a dreich day. For "real" coffee I use coffee bags, and condensed milk which you can buy in "toothpaste" tubes from the home baking section of supermarkets. Very convenient, especially for multi-day trips. For instant coffee, I use the "3 in one" sachets which also have sugar + milk powder. You can get a packet of 7 to 10 from the pound shops. Where was it filmed? I am a Brummie, but have been living in "Embra" for the last 40 years. Last time I wild camped in the Cairngorms, I picked an idyllic spot by a burn. However, it was the rutting season, and once it got dark, stags started to fight it out right outside my tent. Don't get that in Longbridge! Thanks again for "taking me with you". All the best, Tony
@@warwickshireoutdoors I camped somewhere near there over 50 years ago, when doing my "Ducky Embra" (as they call it up here) expedition. I don't think I have been back since. Good to know it has not been built on.
Not had a chance to cook in mine yet, I have the Mk2 set, but with a steel Mk1 mug instead of the aluminium one, had a choice between the two. It’s heavier, but I like the fact it’s steel. The only thing I would have changed in your recipe is, I’d have fired off the garlic in some olive oil till golden, then thrown in the chilli flakes, fried for 30 seconds, then added the tomatoes,😁
That was a good idea to take the Crusader Mk. I cup with you. The plastic Osprey cup that matches the Osprey or NATO canteen is nice, but the former is what you want in a survival situation.
Bob Holmes thank you for your comment. Very pleased you watched it. Yes it gives you a different option. I really like self contained kits like this. ATB 🏕
I just wonder why they made that decision to change that metal cup to a plastic one. When you eat from bigger cup, you can warm water for cup of coffee, to clean cup, or keep water from frosting in your canteen with remaing fuel.
I am going to invest in a basha myself. I think that a regular a frame setup would have worked better in that levelnof storm though. You sold me on keeping one in my hiking pack though.
It was issued to all brances of the uk armed forces, icluding reserve and cadets also. Its for brewing tea, ad making basic food compo rations on task, nothing fancy. Its just basic its not for ambitious cooking as you get in a field kitchen. To avoid having to clean everything foreever with soot build up. Put tin foil under cooking pot.
sky blue it’s called Hay Wood. Public access and run by Forestry commission I think. Lots of paths and popular with dog walkers etc. Do you know the area? ATB🏕🌲🚣♀️🍺

@@warwickshireoutdoors awesome thanks for the response I’ve used the gel in the squeeze bottle before didn’t know they had cubes. How does it compare to about the same amount in the gel vs the cube
@@AquaTech225 I couldn’t say mate as I haven’t used the gel. Depends on the conditions of course but one cube will boil enough for a drink. Sometimes need two to heat a meal. Again it depends on the conditions.
