Thanks for sharing that with us, Wynrick. I do not freeze the eggs that I cure, I keep them in the fridge and they stay good all year. I only freeze the eggs that I don’t cure, sometimes I just river rinse and air dry and then pack them in air tight container. Wrap with aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. I’m coming over because I need some loose roe. 😂👍
Thanks Adrian. This time I’ll try not to freeze those eggs, still sitting in fridge right now. We’re heading to Saugeen this Sat. if the rain is not bad. Tight lines!
Thanks for sharing. I use brown sugar solution after using salt water. Is'nt burn if we keep it in freezer? How do u keep it in freezer?I never tried though.
Put them on a ziplock and wrap thick with newspapers then freeze. On a glass jar with tight lid, you can leave them sitting on the fridge. Actually I still have the leftover from this video, they’re still good.
@@WynricksFishingAdventures Thank you. I found after 4-5 casting the roe sac are getting white. What could be the reason? I used river water with salt and tap water(cold) to rinse.
@@s.m.omarsharif435 when you scrape eggs, make sure there’s no membrane into it coz that tiny membranes turn white and thats normal to premature eggs. Even loose eggs will turn white after many cast. When I noticed that to my roe bag, I change right away.
@@WynricksFishingAdventures I used loose roe. No membrane. So, no chance to jave bloods. Also, my another question is if the collected with membrane can I cure it with salt water?
@@s.m.omarsharif435 with membrane ( skein ) I prefer to use pautzkie curing powder. Air dry after 2 days in fridge, then cut into smaller chunks when u use it. You don’t need to tie.
If you want the hard ones, you need to have the loose eggs, river curing itself will do the work plus the salt to last longer. But those eggs that you had right now, you can still use it.
They look good Rick. How and when do you separate them from skein. I think the hard part is separating the eggs from skein and cleaning the blood line. It’s time consuming.
These are loose eggs, you don’t need to separate from skein which is hard for me too. You need to choose a hen that eggs fall off when you lift, and very easy to clean. Thanks a lot man.
@@WynricksFishingAdventures Thanks. I don't like to harvest or dispatch my fish at the river. Unless the hen is shooting out eggs, and I have a bag handy, I can river cure. Otherwise, I guess I will try to salt cure without river rinsing them. Hopefully it will be ok.
Hi Joven, it’s time to go for some steelhead my friend. Hopefully Monday I will be up north in Thornbury and Meaford chasing some chrome. Hope to see you and Wynrick out this fall on the water.

How did you get the eggs off of the skeen? I've used tennis rackets in the past. Today used hot water and that seemed to work better.
That’s loose eggs alredy when I harvest. ( Egss fall off easily when you hold the hen from the belly ) thanks.

Does it have to be the river water the eggs came from or can I use other river water? I already have the eggs at home from last night
You can use water from other rivers as well.
@@WynricksFishingAdventures much appreciated.
Do you have any videos of you putting a hook throuvh the egg after cured??
I don’t hook through the egg( single egg pattern), I always tied them with spawn sacks.

Why the bottled water? Spring water is like tap water. Is it the chlorine you're worried about?
That’s right, I’m worried about chlorine and yes you can use spring water also instead of bottled water.

Is adding brown sugar good?
I haven’t tried adding brown sugar on loose eggs but I’ve heard it’s good.
Nice…how do you do River curing and can I purchase the small bottle of salmon eggs?
Put eggs in a ziplock and leave in the water (river) for 20 mins then try popping it, if it’s hard enough drain and put in the cooler with ice.
I'd be willing to sell you some eggs when I get back to PA as long as you live in a state its legal.
Do you eat it?
I don’t. My friend does, and said it was good.
Thanks for sharing but I try exactly what you do but it doesn’t get hard , I believe I do something wrong , might be not enough salt or ?
Did you have the loose eggs or you scraped eggs from the membrane?
