Hey Luc are you going to apply for that Halo developer job. INstallation00 can't do it. I can think of no one better to give us something f'n awesome than you. Appreciate all your hard work. :)
I'm fairly sure scraping the bottom of 20 year old barrels for tacked on mod support for games older than the kids who can't spell win for some reason is reaching harder for long term relevance than that fun spinoff game from 2010 you keep playing when the new game is bad and you still can't do anything better with your time like a shower or play any other game.
@markricheard1870 7 or "Infinite 2" or whatever they call a sequel is a safe bet, but absolutely nothing in the way of confirmation. And the CE remake is a rumor, again with nothing from 343.

If they made a stealth game, I'd want it to be based around one of three things. You play as the ODST again, you get to be part of the headhunters or the original Spartan 3s before they had shields and stuff and were sent on suicide missions, or you're a Sangheili Spec Ops unit during the Human Covenant War, tasked to hunt down human VIPs, sabotage defenses for an impending invasion or clear out forerunner facilities the humans have set up labs in. Or anything along those lines.
10:20 I feel you. I remember playing those levels in reach and ce and being “oh cool a stealth mission” then being equipped with a weapon that sounds like God’s wrath and being “oh so not a stealth mission” 😢
Amazing!!! Those first 2 images have a distinctly Halo CE vibe! Really interesting how they strayed from that look to the more monolithic more refined look. I can understand the streamlining to make it run at anywhere near an acceptable level. But it's very gratifying to see something concrete from an era that is largely mythical. This makes me believe we will get a forerunner ship map one day 😊
At least you got your stealth missions with ODST! I think more stealth missions would be awesome in Halo. I’d like to see a survival Flood horror game, using stealth to sneak past
You know I'm not one for stealth levels but to be honest the way that sounded in like how the level would play out it just sounds sick like I'm all for that because it sounds really fun
Bungie had so much ambition with the old games. It'd be so cool to see more insane sandbox things like this in future games. Like go crazy make a level where you can call in and command troops like a hybrid of Halo wars and FPS Halo
Moonbase was definitely my favorite. But I completely managed to miss the proto creatures, so that was a little mind blowing to me. I messed around in the levels, but managed to miss most of what you're talking about, so I'm glad I watched this.
You can see a lot of remaining geometry in Halo 2 from these level designs and its very apparent that Bungie really wanted to keep a lot of their original ideas, I'd like to point out how that moon level seems like just a very early version of quarantine zone, both in the wasteland's design and also the corridors, I imagined seeing a sentinel enforcer encounter, as it's mowing down flood with it's darts you're staring through the window above studying it and then you would eventually make it to that chamber to fight it.
they should really add these "Lost levels" to mcc like maybe finish the levels based on the ideas and release them as extra levels that most likely wont be cannon but would be fuckin awesome to play and see
Would i be wrong to say.. with the amazing work the Digsite team is doing, could we , in theory, have "definitive versions" of these older Halo games at some point in time?
I thought they were done with mcc? Surely by now, they would've been releasing something new as opposed to digging up a bunch of corpses. A halo 5 pc port or maybe the dig site team can start digging up and remaking something that actually needs it like halo 4. That whole game felt like a rough draft that needed another year in the oven.
This part 17:00 is very reminiscent to Sierra 117, the first mission in Halo 3. Could be a stretch but it seems like they reused some of the art direction from this cut mission for designing that mission. Maybe.
So I can't believe that I never thought to post this here because out of everyone who would enjoy it, you guys would. A bit of backstory first. I'm an (amateur) writer and would think of myself as a creative person. That tends to translate to my dreams. Well, a long time ago when MCC added all the Fractures armor, including the knight themed sets, I had a CRAZY dream of an Alternate Halo Universe. I'll put it here for y'all's enjoyment. Bear in mind, things may sound weird because you know, dream logic. Here you go: An alternate universe that combines the different events of Halo 2, 3 and 4. Humanity and the Covenant released an infectious plague on each other, leading to the species of the Covenant turning into the Flood and humanity largely uninfected except turning most of them into sinful and debaucherous creatures. Save for the Masterchief and Cortana. This plague sends humanity into a strange mesh of futuristic, dark-ages. Cortana in the midst of the war, or maybe at the start of the war, becomes rampant and begins cataloging her journey with John, calling him her "Knight" and herself his "Guardian." As John travels around the many human owned systems, bringing justice to the innocent and righting wrongs done to humans from other humans who are affected by the plague. Cortana, in her rampant state, also begins to wonder about her own rampancy, which has gone unnoticed by John, and for some reason has knowledge of the original events of Halo 2, 3 and 4, and questions whether the current state of their alternate universe is just a result of her broken, rampant perspective of the outside universe, or if everything going on around them is really happening. Meanwhile, the Arbiter (called Jaiden in this universe for some reason) is exiled from the Covenant, as the new infected Covenant has begun to see the Floof infection as their new "Great Journey" and begun worshiping the now Truth/Gravemind hybrid as he infects more and more of the Covenant. The Arbiter, disagreeing with the views of Truth and his so called "ascension" is exiled to human space for not being a believer, under the title the "Exiled Knight." Eventually, Truth turns his sights once more on humanity, because after the plague began to take both sides the war came to a standstill as each side sorted out their own. Now, Truth uses his new Flood infected Covenant to attack humanity and it's at this point where John and the Arbiter (Jaiden) meet up and the Exile explains to the Knight everything that the Truth/Gravemind has planned. So the pair team up to take the fight to Truth, hoping to find a cure for the plague for both their peoples. During the immense final battle with Truth, Cortana goes fully rampant and gives her life to hold Truth long enough for John and the Arbiter to kill him as well as delving into the Covenant network, successfully finding a cure for the plague. However, as she dove into the network she had to shed things from her rampant self in order to complete her mission. Some of that data was the logs she had been keeping of all of hers and her Knights travels. The Arbiter finds these logs after the final battle and gives them to the Masterchief. He also finds a message from the Elite homeworld intercepted by Cortana calling out Truth for his unjustified exile of the Arbiter and saying that he is no longer exiled. The two heroes spend a silent moment thinking of the long journey from the start of the war to where they are now, then the Knight looks to the Exile and says simply, "Good," happy that his new friend will now get to return home. Fade to black and run credits.
