I love my infinity bottle. There have been times that it has fallen flat, and other times when it is super complex and amazing. But I don't keep an infinity bottle to try and make a cool blend before stopping, I keep a bottle so that I will always have a little bit of some of my favorite whiskeys from over the years. When I open a new bottle of something that I love, I put some of it in my infinity bottle right away instead of waiting until the bottle is almost killed off and the air has had a chance to change it. So for me, it is going to be an ever evolving trip through the best bottles I have ever owned.
That's pretty much what I've been doing with my first infinity bottle. I started out with a general plan for what I wanted to do, but that quickly fell to ruin. I now just refer to the bottle as my 'Chaos Blend', adding in a couple ounces of most bottles I try. Like yours it has fallen flat on occasion (a couple different Jameson Caskmates were the culprits, oddly enough), but after a couple additions from new purchases it came right back. It's just a hair over 1/2 full right now and I honestly can't remember what all went into it, so the rare occasion I pour myself an ounce to sample, it's always a new experience and I'm constantly finding new things in it.
My infinity bottle is a 375 woodford bottle that I keep in my golf bag. Whenever anyone I'm playing with makes a birdie, my friends and I have a tradition where we all take a little pull of whisky. Every time I'm about to go play, I make sure the bottle is sufficiently full by topping it off with whatever I have on hand, so at any given time it will probably be a blend of a handful of different things.
New to the whiskey game here's what I put in my infinty bottle so far ( these are my first in my adventure) • Buffalo Trace • Sagamore Rye • Elijah Craig • Woodford • Monkey Shoulder • Proper • Angels Envy • Roe and Co
Just got a sample dram of this from Masters of Malt (the bottles have sold out, even at over £100 a bottle) - you're right Daniel, it's amazing. One of the best blended malts I have ever experienced.
On reviews: I share Daniel's affinity for Islay scotches, so if he really likes something, pretty sure I will too. I also watch Ralfy for a more general quality to look for in a whisk(e)y.
Daniel and Rex's O-faces in the thumbnail and throughout this episode is kinda disturbing. Lol PS...if I ever get to a point where my Infinity Bottle is amazing, I would stop and start a new one making sure to put in a generous pour of the previous Infinity Bottle. That way the "line" is not broken.
When I went to buy my first bottle of Scotch a couple of years ago, I browsed around a bit until I came to the Talisker bottles. I remembered Daniel saying several times how much he liked their whiskeys, so ended getting a bottle of Talisker Storm. I did not regret the purchase one bit.
Somebody needs to develop an Infinity Bottle WT App. Where it tracks volumes in and out, because the relative proportions can/will change based on the frequency and volume of tastes.
New to whisky tasting. Very much enjoy your channel! During this COVID-19 ‘crisis’, I built my own home bar for myself and the boys. Would love to send you a pic of the current whisky ‘stock’.
I don't really tend to buy too many crazy things out there, so I guess I don't have that same thought process of "I gotta conserve" Tullamore Dew, Glenlivet, etc are all gonna be easy to get. I do need to get my infinity bottle back up and rolling and keep better notes this time. Though I liked what I did last year better. Instead of just a random blend, I took a little bit of all new things I tried and added them to a 375 ml bottle. Now I made them Bourbon/American whiskey, Irish, and Scotch. Then, I shared them with friends at the end of the year so they could see what my journey was like. Each one I tried to get filled by October so it could marry a bit and I was glad I did. The Scotch one was the only one behind and the Laphroaig and Ardbeg just overtook it anyways. It was only a half bottle lol. Oh. The only one I did ration for a long while was my Compass Box Oak Cross. I was sad cause the box got tossed out too. Was such a nice box and bottle. Was an amazing little blended Scotch, mostly felt like Speyside, then finished in American and French oak barrels. Just sweet, clove, vanilla...was AMAZING with cheeses like Havarti and Muenster,
There is a bar here with thousands of whiskies from around the world. I watch reviews like yours, find the flavour notes and if it sounds like things i like i will go to the bar and try a sample of it. if it's good I buy a bottle.
I definitely agree with you, Daniel. I usually go into a whisky based on curiosity alone, and I often drink a whole dram alone before watching reviews on them. I like to see how my palate compares to yours, Ralfy, Horst, Roy etc.. Its only after I've taken my own notes that I allow other reviewers to chime in.
Did I miss you guys going over the whiskey wall additions??? Pretty sure I haven't missed an episode since it was filled up, but it seems like forever ago that everything was added and we've heard hardly a peep about it. Whadupwitdit?!?!
If you guys like that, then I’ve got a great English-distilled whisky for you. It’s about 20 min from where I live while I’m stationed here in the UK and they just released a rum cask finished cask strength that is just exquisite. Will try to bring some back to Austin for ya when I come back to the states.
Hello, Thanks to share your experience and your good vibration. I come to Soumagne in Belgium, somewhere on earth :) I just find No Name one and two this week, my question here is, do i have to taste the No Name 2 first, if i taste 4 or 5 other whisky in the same hour ? I m searching to learn all about whisky. Im a peat lover and i hear that not the best way to practice my whisky education. What are you thinking about that ? Excuse my bad english, i speak french first. I love your vidéo its always a pleasure to see it You are not on Face Book ? Jean-Pol
I actually just finished an infinity bottle after slowly adding to it over the last eight months or so. It tasted good, but was’t mind-blowing or anything. I took an ounce from all the whiskies I bought (except peaty/smoky whiskies) and poured it in. I think the rule I’m setting for myself is to continually add to it like I have been, and to never let it go below half full. I don’t think any blends that I make from this could be calculated and replicated after this point, but I’m honestly just excited to see how it changes in flavor and complexity and density from here on out :)
I did that with my infinity bottle. I drink bourbon. It was 2/3 full and I tasted it and it had a slight mint taste to it that caught me out of nowhere. I ended up drinking it instead of putting more in. I still have no idea where the mint came from but it was delicious.
Add an infinity bottle part to the regular vault episodes. You each get 1 bottle and you can choose whether or not you want to add the whiskey of that episode to your bottle.
What does the tribe think I should try next as someone that prefers Laphroaig to Ardbeg? Ardbeg is great but a bit too sweet for me while Laphroaig is magical. I'm thinking Coal Isla from the descriptions. And don't say Lagavulin. I've tried it and it's amazing but out of my price range.
I Luv it when my bottles run low & I have some to replace it because I planned ahead. It's like oh no I'm almost out but then no wait I have that, it's like X-mas !!!!🤣🏴☠️
An Infinity Release series from the Crowded Barrel would be cool. Tribe/Patreon could vote on additions and once Daniel/Rex think it hits "amazing", the group names the release. Then it's just logistics on sourcing enough
watching this great video and over Daniels hobbit shoulder i spy with my drunken Newfie eye, a bottle of Trailer Park Boys liquor!!! Well done bastards....well done. Cheers from Newfoundland Canada!
I still have not samples my infinity bottle, I kinda know what's in it, but not enough to make it again. hopfully in a few months this stuff will have been delt with in a way I can try it with some friends.
Whenever I try a new whiskey I always look for a video you guys have done to try it with you guys! Also referring to the infinity bottle what if when you get to sweet spot of the bottle then make another one exactly the same to mix with the first? Would the taste stay the same a bit or would it change significantly?
When my bottles get to that last quarter or so they don't get put away. I leave them out on the table and have at least a little pour every time I drink. Sometimes I only drink from that bottle just to finish it off. It doesn't matter if it was a bottle I loved or learned to appreciate. Maybe I need to find other sources of accomplishment in my life.
Infinity bottle tribe video idea: Rex and Daniel both choose 5 whiskies each to make the best infinity bottle possible. They then leave them to settle for a while then try each other’s and try to guess what’s in it.
As a blended malt that shares a lot of Diageo whiskies is there much of a comparison between this No Name 2 vs Johnnie Walker Green Label? Green Label is less than half the price of the No Name here in the UK so would struggle with the price difference
Hello lads... hope you are keeping well. Love your talks very interesting... i am from India and was thinking if you have tried Paul John's Single Malt if you could please share your views on that. Thanks guys. ChinChin !!
I do still have unopened bottles of each no name. Original one had more smoke and fruit was definitely in the background. I like no name 2 a little better, the Talisker really gave it more complexity.
Current infinity bottle-6 ounces bulleit bourbon, 3 ounces Elijah Craig cask strength and 4 ounces Johnny Walker game of thrones edition. I need to get another few ounces to top it off. Lol.
QUESTION: A bit off the subject but I just came across a bottle of Glenfiddich 19 year Age Of Discovery single malt. I am having trouble finding reviews on this particular bottle of scotch, my question is, is this a good thing or a bad one. Thank you
depends on the release, there are three. I had the red wine finish one and something was off. the whisky guru Serge Valentin says they're alright, check it out: www.whiskyfun.com/archivemay11-2.html#310511
A better idea is to create a tribe infinity bottle starting off point. From there the bastards push their infinity bottles in their own directions and at a bastards ball in the future host a infinity bottle competition. The winner of that competition has their name on a buyable blended whiskey. (empty bottle with a recipe or lower volume additions with a shopping list.) This line could be called the "bastards blessing of name".

Does anyone have a recommendation for a Scotch that will blow my palate away? Something complex and dark preferably. I just scored a new job after a few months of redundancy so I don't mind spending a bit more as a self congratulations.
Itd be cool to see a whiskey tribe "youtube" infinity bottle where each episode you pore a little more in, and poor in a certain bottle picked by the whiskey tribe. Just a thought!:)
A tribe digital library of infinity bottle blends sounds like an amazing idea
Yes it certainly does! Including them making and reviewing the results👌

On reviews: I share Daniel's affinity for Islay scotches, so if he really likes something, pretty sure I will too. I also watch Ralfy for a more general quality to look for in a whisk(e)y.

LMAO, I have 8 infinity bottles/barrels because they keep hitting the magical level, thanks to you magnificent bastards.
So glad they found #1, the A-B comparison is fantastic!
I managed to grab one of these bottles the other day and now cannot wait for the weekend to give it a try.

Only thing is that I don’t measure my pours...
In regards to infinity bottles, you could have an episode on what the best, most popular, and/or most exotic bottles for it
No name no1 was the first whisky I bought still my favorite and I cant wait to try no2
hi to all the scotch drinkers out there ...hi from scotland ..
This ep has put me over the edge to start my infinity bottle. Can’t wait to see what the stuck bottom 1/4’s of my bottles taste like together
Enjoy the journey Nathan it is a rabbit hole 😉
love the couch, It adds an interesting dynamic.
New to whisky tasting. Very much enjoy your channel! During this COVID-19 ‘crisis’, I built my own home bar for myself and the boys. Would love to send you a pic of the current whisky ‘stock’.

So glad I found this bottle today at retail. If a special occasion doesn’t come soon enough I’ll have to create one 😆🥃

7:01. Yay Brandi! 😁. Thankfully my husband and I don’t overlap too much.....except in Heaven Hill Territory. Then watch out. 😳

Is Rex complaining that his wife is a moch?!
Beat me to it! haha
The moch has a mocher
Right??
And so, Rex's student has become the master.
I intend to save that last bit in the bottle for other people to try that have never had it. Most often it just sits there for a year or more.
Rex, so good your taste buds were on a different plane of existence where are you were incapable completing the goat noise?
I really enjoy compass box. I had the Spaniard and it was super nice.

The dark edge of the meat/steak is called maillard reaction. And it's soooo good!
Who knew that a aggressive yawn could be more effective than preemptively saying "Yeah, yeah, yeah.." to end a stream of conversation.
We need a ep on infinity bottles how to fix a bad bottle or how to draw out certain flavors
It is yummy! I read somewhere that there were 15K bottles of the most excellent No Name 1 made. Do you know how many bottles of No Name 2 were made?
watching this great video and over Daniels hobbit shoulder i spy with my drunken Newfie eye, a bottle of Trailer Park Boys liquor!!! Well done bastards....well done. Cheers from Newfoundland Canada!
I still have not samples my infinity bottle, I kinda know what's in it, but not enough to make it again. hopfully in a few months this stuff will have been delt with in a way I can try it with some friends.
Got myself some 15 y.o. J.P. wisers.
Why is it ginger ale always pairs with every whisk(e)y so perfectly?
Where is the 2020 Vault Infinity Blend? Curious to see how big the container is and if we’ve made it to a barrel. I know Daniel has a spreadsheet.
Whenever I try a new whiskey I always look for a video you guys have done to try it with you guys! I am the embodiment of the chaos theory. My infinity bottle is a mystery of drunk additions of over 100 proof bourbons

The mooch has created a mooch. This is the circle of whiskey.
This whisk(e)y sounds like it is right in my zone
That Radiohead album in the thumbnail really got me
Hello lads... hope you are keeping well. Love your talks very interesting... i am from India and was thinking if you have tried Paul John's Single Malt if you could please share your views on that. Thanks guys. ChinChin !!
They have 2 Paul John’s in the Vault🧐😃
posting infinity bottle recipes is a fantastic idea
This one sparks joy!
This is Compas Box. More rings were needed!
I do still have unopened bottles of each no name. Original one had more smoke and fruit was definitely in the background. I like no name 2 a little better, the Talisker really gave it more complexity.
Go for Solera method and keep a little of the infinity going while saving the majority of it when you like it to much
As soon as you find out that a inifity bottle you have gets an amazing profile, split it and keep one part and keep blending the other part :)
Damn Patrick Kohn donated that about a year ago it seems!
I just bought a bottle. It's sounds so good that I'm going to save it as my special occasion bottle.
Great review minus the yawning since they are contagious and I have two cracked ribs. I need to find these whiskeys
The mooch has his own mooch. Mooch squared
Daniel at a whiskey shop must be like Marie Kondo - "does this whiskey spark joy?"
Recreating and testing infinity bottles from the tribe; FTW...
The Mooch is being Mooched!!
I do the same thing as Daniel. Though usually it's here, after I have my first glass.
You should try Horse Soldier, it has a pretty cool story behind the name.
Imagine being such a master blender you can make any whiskey nerd instantly defend blended whiskies by saying "What about compass box?"
Did y'all just demote the mighty Patrick Kohn from Titan down to Patron Saint? THE HEIGHT OF RUDENESS. hahaha
Please note an important distinction between seeing what NOTES others have and getting on the facebook to ask LOOK DID I R DUN GEWD?
Current infinity bottle-6 ounces bulleit bourbon, 3 ounces Elijah Craig cask strength and 4 ounces Johnny Walker game of thrones edition. I need to get another few ounces to top it off. Lol.
I've shared a pic of my infinity bottle with a qr code on its side in order to keep track of the input on reddit and it is really convenient
QUESTION: A bit off the subject but I just came across a bottle of Glenfiddich 19 year Age Of Discovery single malt. I am having trouble finding reviews on this particular bottle of scotch, my question is, is this a good thing or a bad one. Thank you

Last night I put the last octomore into my infinity bottle
and... now it's a peathead
1/3 balcones rye 1/3 michters bourbon and 1/3 red breast. It was delicious!!!
ALL HAIL COMPASS BOX!!
Rex - Enthusiastic? Yes. Valued? Like wooden nickles are valued.
I know I’m skipping ahead in the order of videos seeing I’m watching all the whiskey vaults in order, but do you go into a store knowing what your are kind of looking for or are you standing in the isles reading the back of the bottles?
I do the same thing what Daniel does. I'll buy a bottle that looks interesting, then I go online to see how people have reviewed them.
Not really a blend, but 80% glenmorangie original + 20% caol ila 12 makes for a great mix that somehow reminds me of a chocolate orange.
And still working on a blend containing roughly 50%~ Tomatin legacy, 36% Glenfarclas 105, 8% Four roses small batch and 6% Caol Ila 12.
Pro Tip: Get bottle #1 out BEFORE you start recording.... SHEEESH such armatures! 🥃
Hey tribe! Bit off topic. I've fallen in love with Ardbeg 10 these past weeks. It's very much an easy sipper at this point. Does anyone have a recommendation for a Scotch that will blow my palate away? Something complex and dark preferably. I just scored a new job after a few months of redundancy so I don't mind spending a bit more as a self congratulations.
I wait till I’ve tasted my new purchase then seek out reviews to see how my thoughts on it compare to others. I guess I just need validation, lol
What about a comparison with JW green 15, both have talisker in their blends. Can I mooch some ?
Love the "Bends" reference. 😉
Still hoping for an update on the vault infinity bottle with one of every review of 2020
I've never been this early for anything ever
Itd be cool to see a whiskey tribe "youtube" infinity bottle where each episode you pore a little more in, and poor in a certain bottle picked by the whiskey tribe. Just a thought!:)
I preferred No Name 1 but I might have to get a bottle of No Name 2 to compare
