Smash 6 is inevitable tho. Smash is such a big money maker that it would just be stupid to end the series like that. Also every character returning is very unlikely due to licenscing and all that. Pretty sure that characters like sora and cloud wont make it to the next game
Yeah, pretty much. Even if Sakurai isn’t part of it, Smash makes too much money for them to say “Alright, time to shelf the series and remaster Ultimate from time to time. Good work folks”. It’s how the industry works, if money can be squeezed out of a popular IP, it’s what they’re gonna do.
@@vvlaze I don't think the alternative is to shelf the series. Ports for ultimate to each new generation alone would generate giga sales, and they can sell DLC like another fighter pass, or map pass, or even lower effort shit like more music, textures, or mechanics for the map maker, or even new alternate costumes, like skins sold in other games. I think a smash 6 is most likely, too, but it's certainly not inevitable. They have a few ways to play it that can make sense.

Am I basically saying to make official versions of the costumes people have already made in the modding community? Yeah pretty much-
There will never be a higher note to end the series on again. If they ended it with Ultimate, it would almost certainly be the most satisfying ending in the long run. Everyone returned, fan favorites who were requested for years or even decades were added, and even Disney played nice to allow the winner of the fighter ballot in. This is the peak, and we can either take in how far the series has come, or start the descent back down.
Yeo what are you smoking that makes you think a million dollar game should stop? Especially when there a lot of character that where missing and the game has nothing new to offer for years there’s lots of characters people don’t even want in the game
I’m basically all but guaranteed to not play the potential Smash 6 even nearly as much as I play Smash Ultimate. Every character being in the game is simply too appealing and cool, and I can’t see it being anything but a downgrade after Ultimate. It doesn’t help that my secondary (honorary main at this point) Sephiroth, likely wouldn’t be in the next game *if* they cut out characters. Adding every character into Ultimate was both the smartest move in terms of appeal and making money, but it also caused them to step on their own tie in the long run for future games should they cut characters. Honestly, I wish Smash had stayed as just a Nintendo crossover, and not a full on multi company crossover. It would have most likely avoided character cutting, and also made it so everyone could have realistic expectations for newcomers. And again, I say this while being a Sephiroth secondary (I main Greninja)! I genuinely hope they continue to port Ultimate forever, and just add characters to it, with updates to balancing between ports.
Im Glad That Smash Is A Multi-Gaming Crossover And Smash Should Stay As A Multi-Gaming Crossover Because It Allows Smash To Become More Ambitious And Lengendary As A Fighting Game
I actually really hope a Super Smash Bros Ultimate deluxe happens because it really wouldn’t make sense if they added another Smash Bros game, and also like you said already give Sakurai a damn break. 💀
Ultimate was literally marketed as the series swan song. No matter what they do with the next game, many people are going to be disappointed. It’s like if they brought Robert Downy Jr back to the MCU after he left the franchise with a bitter sweet ending to his character… wait a second.
I'd agree with this take, if they would have continued balancing the game. While still pretty balanced they gutted a couple of characters and gave other characters op mechanics.
no it shouldn't be the last as people need to get over the fact not many of the series may return(if anything they should ask those companies to keep interest compared to mario kart which is just being milked/mario being a cash cow.) as the next game should be a soft reboot focusing on improving veterans & more single player modes instead of deluxe which isn't happening.
@@mrmelonman2893 "unreallistic" no, they can all come back in the next update of the next smash game as NOT dlc but still smash characters, unrealistic is such a asinine way of saying, "these characters are not getting in bc i said so"
If we are honest, Smash '6' or anything later will never compete with Smash Ultimate in terms of starting roster. I doubt Sakurai will be able to work on another one without killing himself and someone else will never put that much effort in. And Nintendo knows their consumer base. They can resell all these old characters as DLC and people will buy them even if some should be in the game from the start. Popular targets I can see are most 3rd parties, Mewtwo, Zero Suit Samus, King K-Rool.
I think cutting roster is dumb, keep everyone. But add new moves for certain Characters. And a Great New Story Mode the play we can each level, not that World of Light board bull crap I'm still pissed off on how they did that.
Smash Ultimate always felt like the last game to me. Everyone is here, Sora being the last fighter, so many fan picks like banjo and ridley, it felt like it was tying up loose ends. Even if sakurai wanted a smash 6, it just wouldnt feel right to me.
I really don’t think that any of these things will be an issue or should be reasons for not making a new Smash title. Not only did Sakurai already lay out expectations for Smash 6 having fewer characters than Ultimate, a roster that isn’t larger than the previous game’s was always inevitable, right? Eventually we would reach a critical mass of characters in Smash that would be too many for a development team to top or even reproduce without sacrificing quality and balance. We don’t need all the echo fighters. We don’t need two electric rats with similar animations for most of their moves despite playing differently in some ways. I enjoy watching all three in tournaments, but we don’t need three different versions of Link. I play a good amount of Dr. Mario and love watching JaZaR and BacoN play him, but we don’t NEED him to have a good or even great iteration of Smash (that sounds a bit blasphemous to me, but I believe it). And then there’s all the characters from non-Nintendo licenses that are a pain to secure that would just make things easier for the Smash team to leave out. But in every iteration of Smash past Melee, some characters were always dropped to make room for other new characters, and while there were plenty of people bummed about losing Mewtwo in Brawl or Wolf in Smash 4, I’d be surprised if there were people who didn’t play Brawl because Pichu wasn’t in the game, same for Smash 4 and Icies or Snake. And finally, Sakurai’s his own man. If he really doesn’t want to do a project, he won’t. He’s been at least somewhat transparent with us about what he does and doesn’t want, and I think that some in the Smash community have taken that to mean that he’s somehow being strong-armed into this by Nintendo. As a game developer, sometimes you have to work on a project that you would rather not, and if it’s an issue of overworking, then it’s not a Sakurai thing, it’s a Nintendo thing, and we should be adamant as a community that we don’t want a new Smash game if they will be overworking any of their employees. But if we get a new project head to replace Sakurai, I’m all for it. For one, he no longer has to work on a project that he would rather stay out of (if that is still true), and for two, we maybe get a new take on a Smash entry. Each iteration has felt starkly different from the previous one anyway, so I really don’t see how the status quo would change here. Sakurai’s done a lot for us, but we don’t need him to always be there to enjoy his legacy.
I’d be much happier with a smaller roster as long as we have more content, a big roster’s cool and all but when there’s not much you can do with it other then online then what’s the point
@@tilt9808 yeah but to be fair not everyone is online playable some people need more solo content Also these aren’t one or the other options I personally think the next game should have better online and more solo player content Ultimate has neither so yeah smash 6 definitely needs to improve things

Ultimate will be the last smash game . Grew up with all smash games since 64 (born 1997) & i know for a fact this the last game ever . If anything it will just get ported to newer consoles
I strongly disagree. There should only be ONE more smash bros game. An expanded iteration of Melee. Ultimate is an excellent game, but Melee was and is better in such a wide multitude of ways--not just competitively.
I agree melee is better than ultimate and it also my personal favorite game ever. But I mainly like it's gameplay more and it's single player modes more than ultimate's offerings.
@@user-be3qc7re9o Lots of people overlook it, but World of Light is actually pretty good. Better than melee’s single player. Ultimate also has unique classic mode routes and seven other modes and especially online which Melee does not have, so that’s pretty good single player. Plus, Smash is a fighting game, so multiplayer is the main focus anyway. And with Ultimate having so infinitely more characters and content, I believe it is objectively better than Melee. I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but nostalgia and people over-critiquing of new adaptions seems to be the only reason people like the only reason that people think melee is better. And if we are talking about single player campaigns, the best is obviously Brawl. Melee’s competitive scene is most because how janky the game is.
Because the Smash series is easily the best and biggest crossover video game series on the market, having a dedicated fanbase since day one. Ultimate has had its time in the sun, and people very reasonably want more.

This is reasonable, but Nintendo isn't really known for reasonable decisions.
They usally have one of the most reasonable gaming businesses decisions
It would be funny if smash 6 was called “everyone is gone” and it was just the original 16 characters with completely different movesets
I'd be down for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Deluxe. With all DLC characters and stages at launch. Just like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I think the next game should be only the previous assist trophy's
I think it should be the last for a while
no it shouldn't be the last as people need to get over the fact not many of the series may return(if anything they should ask those companies to keep interest compared to mario kart which is just being milked/mario being a cash cow.) as the next game should be a soft reboot focusing on improving veterans & more single player modes instead of deluxe which isn't happening.
no, JUST NO!
@@smashbrosgoatyes. Its unrealistic to expect all the characters to comeback. Cuts are going to made
@@mrmelonman2893 "unreallistic" no, they can all come back in the next update of the next smash game as NOT dlc but still smash characters, unrealistic is such a asinine way of saying, "these characters are not getting in bc i said so"

@@smashbrosgoat I mean they said themselves they don’t think everyone is here could happen again so stay off the Hopium
And a Great New Story Mode the play we can each level, not that World of Light board bull crap I'm still pissed off on how they did that.
thank you for speaking the truth, that is what smash should remain as, an ambitious fighting game
So why can't we just get a remaster of smash ultimate refining the combat and story mode content
Smash 6 should keep everyone
I don't think that's possible.
no way they can make that happen
again with the unnecessary doubt, they can make it happen again
If that game happens it will bomb HARD
@@eliparrott9350 excactly and people need to stop pretending that a smaller roster will help smash at all
Nah we need smash 6 and that's that
oh god PLEASE give me a new smash I'm so sick of ultimate's movement system
I’d be much happier with a smaller roster as long as we have more content, a big roster’s cool and all but when there’s not much you can do with it other then online then what’s the point
idk personally I've never found any of the other modes particularly fun. Would much rather have playable online for once
@@tilt9808 yeah but to be fair not everyone is online playable some people need more solo content
Also these aren’t one or the other options
I personally think the next game should have better online and more solo player content
Ultimate has neither so yeah smash 6 definitely needs to improve things
@@lestatcanada yea, I mean both take development time but there has been open source rollback for at least a decade now so it shouldn't be hard
@@tilt9808 that’s why I think it’s a good thing that the next game would have a smaller roster
I like big rosters but wanna know what I like better? Having other modes I can use characters in
If it has to be a smaller roster fine by me I always more considered ultimate a special one time thing anyways I never thought of it as the future just a cool one time thing
I think theres room for a reebot since sakauri can make a more polished game
disagree if people don’t like the new one they won’t play it
It isnt going to be the last. Just see the box office sells comepared to the budget that made the game. They absolutely will make another one after their outrageous profit.
For smash bros 6 I think the characters that were lower than a b tier would be cut and then they would be replaced with those new characters and I want to see sonic have a new moveset he could have the boost, sonic wind and lightspeed dash shadow could also have the lightspeed dash with the aura being red and becoming 10 times faster and I don't think he should be an echo fighter he is way too popular for an echo fighter it's okay to have some moves similar to sonic but also make is quite different
I actually think he should become 5 times faster with the lightspeed dash
Keep porting ultimate to new consoles and add dlc every couple years or once a console generation
Let’s be honest, half of the people who want Smash 6 only wants it because they want Waluigi to be playable.
I want a smash 6 because I honestly think smash ultimate being the last game would be disastrous
i want a New Smash Game Because It Will Define Fighting Games And Become Even More Unique Than Ever Before
Super Smash Bros. 6 Cancelled?, how did Super Smash Bros. make a tribute to FUNiMATION?, Is that why FUNiMATION moved to CrunchyRoll do to rules by Buena Vista?
uhhhh the world doesnt revolve around you. take a seat, and try something else.
to bad it was confirmed to happen
Well I hate to break this to you, but a Super Smash Brothers 6 will more then most likeky happen eventually for what Nintendo next console will, its just when anyones guess.
But fighting games always have new characters that's just how fighting games are😊😂
Too bad
*Waluigi time !*
Can't argue with that
Honestly a port is fine idc
Man what the hell are you talking about
i don't want smash 6 either. what i want is just more dlc fighters. just keep them coming. screw competitive, screw balance, i just want to play as all my favourite guys in my favourite game
"Screw Competitive, Screw Balance."
Those are TERRIBLE ideas.
I'm with you and I agree with the opinion of this video's author, espeically the word "Ultimate" in the title and the "Everyone is here!" tagline.
Nah give us one more without any bullshit steve or bayo or meta knight and have it actually be fun. Cut all the lame redundant characters and add a baller story mode focusing on the smaller roster. Done.
this is the problem, you want characters to be removed in the next smash game because you don't like them, why is it so hard for people to put their unnecessary and silly biases to the side and allow smash to become a new ambitious fighting game that will define video games?
let bro retire from smash bros uncs pushing 60
I don’t mind if Sakurai isn’t in the development of smash anymore when he left Kirby the games were still great if not better
crazy yap
Ultimate will be the last smash game .
Grew up with all smash games since 64 (born 1997) & i know for a fact this the last game ever . If anything it will just get ported to newer consoles
Not likely.
an unsubstantiated and incredibly opinionated conclusion that is this, smash will return
I’m fine with a port of ultimate with more characters though
Nintendo is making a 6th game. Cry about it
You didn’t have to be so mean gosh
Super Smash Bros. 6 release Cancelled, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Series Finale, Super Smash Bros. Nintendo 64 Pilot.
All of your points suck
I strongly disagree. There should only be ONE more smash bros game.
An expanded iteration of Melee. Ultimate is an excellent game, but Melee was and is better in such a wide multitude of ways--not just competitively.
Maybe a melee mode for Ultimate as a special mode.
Objectively only competitively, but I’d even argue against that. But apart from competitively, what about Melee is better?
@@thecatinthehat125
Better Single Player Modes and the like.
Why do you even care if Super Smash Brothers Ultimate will be the last game in the series or not? Its not like Ultimate is going anywhere.
Because the Smash series is easily the best and biggest crossover video game series on the market, having a dedicated fanbase since day one. Ultimate has had its time in the sun, and people very reasonably want more.
We'll its not up to you to decide if Ultimate will be the last Super Smash Brothers game or not its up to Nintendo.
