    OK; Robocop never tires, has a literal photographic memory, and his face and robo-penis is all kinds of bulletproof. One thing RoboCop apparently can’t do, however, is walk down stairs. Mask and suit restricted Peter Weller’s movements so much that he found it exceptionally difficult to walk down stairs. But he can still kick ass. The clip og ED-209 falling down the stairs, so pay attention to the last few seconds. If you watch carefully you’ll see Weller very clearly break character and move in a very un-robot-like fashion down the stairs while holding onto the railing before the shot abruptly cuts. This means that just like ED-209, RoboCop also struggled with stairs, lol...Thanx Me. V. Stay groovy, Peace

    Welcome to the world of Paul Verhoeven. Ultra violence, social commentary and, satire all rolled into one. It's not that uncommon. Especially back then, but the soundtrack by Basil Poledouris imo elevated this movie. Everything just works in this movie.

    So, originally, the makers of this film were setting out to adapt stories from a comic book from the UK about a futuristic cop called Judge Dredd. They couldn't get the rights to it, so they made their own original character sort of based on the same concept. The studio that did end up getting the rights to Judge Dredd made a bad Sylvester Stallone movie out of it a few years later, not worth watching. But in 2012, another movie got made, this time just called Dredd, and it was spectacular. Well worth the reaction if you haven't done it already.

    I think people in the 80's expected technology to progress just a wee bit faster than it actually has--especially if you were a kid. I was six years old when Robocop came out. If you'd asked me at the time what I thought people would be doing in 2023, I would have guessed that highly advanced robots would be bottom-tier technology at this point, and that we had been living successfully in space colonies for a number of years, if not decades.

    The idea of Robocop defines what kind of hero is needed in Old Detroit and other cities in peril.
    The human spirit cannot be broken, torn away and defeated by the corruption that stands before it.
    A summer blockbuster, social satire and hyper-crime action thriller that indeed blew away the masses.
    Box office smash and winner of an Academy Award for Best Sound Design.
    One of the first-ever Rated-R properties to transition into multiple mediums.
    From film to television, live action & animated as well they were toys, video games, comics and more.
    The much-anticipated Robocop:Rogue City harkens back to what made this first film so memorable.
    "The Future of Law Enforcement" was the tagline.

    Murphy/Robo isn't an AI. His brain is still inside, which is used like a massive hard drive, but Murphy is still in the parts that weren't destroyed by the bullet to his head, which is why Robo is able to fight against the programming at times, due to his own personal morals. * Conan the Barbarian (1982 original)
    * Demolition Man
    * The Warriors (Theatrical Cut)

      We had a lot of video salons in Russia at that time where they didn't look at the rating and allowed children to watch. I saw this movie for the first time in 1988, when I was 8 years old. We had themed toys much later, but we perfectly sculpted robots out of plasticine))) It's a pity that they don't make such films now and probably never will.

    Trivia: Robo's pistol is called the "Auto-9". Ammo for it is fed through his hand from a reserve supply in his arm (if I'm remembering correctly), and enough for a magazine's worth from his leg.
    There's also a Robocop game that just came out, based on the original trilogy.

    The social commentary and anti-corporate corruption messaging is incredible. You think about it. The villain has the ability to provide military weaponry to a hoodlum to advance his goals. And those goals are the reduction of crime to make it easier to essentially buy and privatize the city of Detroit. But if they have those kind of resources, why not provide them to the cops so they can more effectively fight crime? Answer: Because the company can't make money doing it that way.

    When the emil got all messed up by the toxic waste, the actor with the back hair was not told about how emils actor would look. So when he turned the corner to see emil all mutant and flesh melting off his body look "all practical effects btw" and he scream "AHHH GET OFF ME MAAN!!!!" It was an actual genuine reaction. Facts:
    That scene where Murphy grabs the keys when he is first deployed as RoboCop at the station took so many takes due to the rubber on his hands bouncing the keys off multiple times!
    During the scene where RoboCop shoots out in the factory, Peter Weller (who plays Murphy/RoboCop) was listening to Red Rain by Peter Gabriel on his Walkman during filming to be in the mood.
