What's noteworthy is the one's playing Akeem's parents are the same two people that play's Simba's parents in Lion King. This is my favorite movie of all time. I know it word for word.
Oh wow, I knew about Janes Earl Jones but I didn’t know she played Simbas mother
Fun fact! James Earl Jones was chosen for Mufasa voice for Lion King because of his performance in Coming to America
The actress playing the Queen also played the voice of Mufasas wife
James Earl Jones always plays the best fathers. not to mention darth vader
@@blaster-vv8soI don’t know about the BEST fathers. As you said, he played Vader. :)
@@thajuice100ifyRIP Madge Sinclair
@@blaster-vv8so That's what makes Vader coming to America so funny ua-cam.com/video/DXze55Z2GuY/v-deo.html
Eddie Murphy was the funniest man on the planet in the 1980s. Everything he was in was box office gold! Coming to America was and still is a comedic masterpiece. But if you really want to see his absolute magnum opus, then you all must see Beverly Hills Cop, considered by many to be his all time greatest role and one of my all time favourite films too. You’d all love it!
Yes, Beverly Hills Cop and I think 48 hours would be a good one. I'm not sure if they have seen Trading Places already? But if they haven't, they'd like that one too
"Changing Places" is pretty high on the list too.
You mean Trading Places? that is my favorite from Eddie.@@kennethwhite8045
Eddie Murphy as the old Jewish guy Saul is one of my favorite roles ever. The eyes give it away a little bit, but only if you're really looking for it. Just great. Eddie totally played the character, the voice, everything. And with makeup by the great Rick Baker- with whom Eddie would work on many projects to come.
Both actors playing the King and Queen in this film, James Earl Jones (King Joffe) and Madge Sinclair (Queen Aoleon), later went on to play King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi in The Lion King. Madge Sinclair sadly passed away a year after The Lion Kings release.
28:36 - By the way, the two old homeless men that Hakeem gave the big wad of pocket cash to, were characters from another Eddie Murphy film that came out before Coming to America, titled, "Trading Places", which also stars Dan Ackroyd, and Jamie Lee Curtis. This scene in the movie was a hilarious little nod to that other film. You would have had to see that movie to really get the joke.
Very true, and the director of this movie as well, was John Landis who directed Trading Places and more famously, Michael Jackson's groundbreaking "Thriller" music video:)
The Dukes!
Girls , he is I the nutty professor, trading places, Beverly hills Cop. And he is the Voice of Donkey in the Shrek movie series
And Mushu from Mulan
Thank you homies! For reacting to my suggestion…so cool 😎
You didn't recommend it, did you? 🤣
@@DustinHawke yes I did! 😂
James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair were in The Lion King as Simba's parents Mufasa and Sarabi
Bro they don’t read their comments 😂
And voice of darth Vader
J+M=JTT
And prior to that, John Amos, who plays the father, and Madge Sinclair starred together in the 1977 tv mini series “Roots”. Amos played the adult Kunta Kinte and Sinclair played the woman he marries. That’s why they probably had that strange look at each other at the end after the wedding.
This is coming from Queens, Much Love & trust when I say we are very proud of this movie!! 🤣🤣🤣 Always remember to let your Soul Glo0o0o0o0o!!!!!!!!!!!
35:17 "...I shall deal with him myself." A line that might have reminded our Homies of a certain other movie they've seen - from a galaxy far, far away - if only that rich baritone voice of James Earl Jones had sounded familiar enough! Virtuoso performances from Eddie Murphy (and strong supporting cast) really do make this a great movie of the 1980s - and there's more!
I was looking for this comment!
You find out what happened to the "ex-bride" in the sequel. 😂 It isn't as good as the original, but it's not a bad movie. It has a great "the band is back together after all these years" vibe and is a fun little movie.
"The Royal penis is clean, your highness"...
The GREATEST single sentence ever spoken. It's a running joke between my wife and I.
I was dead when she said they cake is coming at the wedding 😂. So glad you reacted to one of my fav films of all time.
"48 HOURS" is the GREATEST Eddie Murphy movie of ALL-TIME
This was Eddie Murphy’s first time doing multiple characters in a movie and he liked it so much it became his trademark. Randolph and Mortimer have their own prequel spin-off called Trading Places
Trading Places is not a spin off. It was first.
And he has mastered that since..love it
*SPOILER* 🤦🏻♂️
YUP! that part where he gave out that pocket change that has to do with the movie tradeing places etc thats another great movie
Technically Beverly hills cop he played different characters just not in makeup lol
Lisa's dad played the dad in Good Times, an American sitcom from the 70's, you should check it out!
33:23 "They're like the hyenas from The Lion King." Well, the man who portrays the King here was also the voice of the King there (Mufasa), so I guess that makes sense!
Trading Places is another classic
this is my favorite movie. Seeing yalls reaction to seeing something ive seen over and over was dope. i had a big ass grin the entire time
Fun fact: Eddie Murphy is also singing the Soul Glo song. Also, wasn’t sure if you recognize Samuel L. Jackson as the robber. And a very little know casting is the taxi driver is Jake Steinfeld who is actress Hailee Steinfeld’s (Hawkeye, Pitch Perfect, True Grit) uncle.
Actually Eddie Murphy sung the song…when him and semi are walking in the club…”I know I got it.” That’s Eddie..it’s another singer singing the “slo glo”. Song lol 😂 just a cool fact lol
@@dawnisuniqueLmao Right
Golden Child, Beverly hills cop 1-3, Dr. Doolittle, vampire in Brooklyn, and a few others. Live your reactions, so beautiful
Murphy is sincere and the cameos from now-celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson are fun.
It's not a cameo, even if he did it now. It's an actor playing a part.
James Earl Jones: No one can match him and how he dominates the screen.
His master acting, his VOICE, his facial exoressions….
Darth Vader, Field of Dreams, The Hunt For Red October, Coming to America, and countless other films.
And Conan the Barbarian
Don't forget the lion king
@@johnnymoreno5065 …..”Countless other films” = There are too many to list! 😉
35:15 "Do not alert him to my presence. I shall deal with him myself." (cue Imperial March)
Daddy Day Care is a childhood favourite of mine. Not one of Eddie's classics but a fun family film. Recommended.
-28:22 If you've never seen "Trading Places" you won't understand this callback.....
-13:34 The jewish guy Eddie Murphy played was actually modeled after the make-up artists father-in-law. In the barber scene, if you look BEHIND Eddie when he gets the haircut, you can see the ACTUAL guy the look was modeled after...
An all time classic...It don`t get any better than this movie...A great cast and awesome story.
it does get better sorry , i think "what about bob?" is better
Love your reaction ladies! And I hope that you all watch more Eddie Murphy movies, because he made some comedy classics! I would suggest "Beverly Hills Cop", "Harlem Nights", and "Trading Places". You will enjoy the super cool comedy from these flicks! Thanks again Lia, Ellie and Michelle! 🎥🍿👍
"Harlem Nights" sucks!!!
They should've Trading Places before watching this, simply because of the Dukes
@@gowmitch069: Yes!
Coming to America (1988) is so hilarious movie 🤣
The expressions these three are pulling are Hilarious 😂😂😂😂 awesome film watched it back in the 80s many times as a kid
Eddie Murphy's best films were his earliest ones.
48 Hours, Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places, Coming to America, The Golden Child
"Golden Child" is a weak film.
Homies
A lot of the actors in this film are the two lead Stars.
Just like you noticed his friend dressed as a girl, they are also all the actors in The Barber shop
....someone clearly didn't watch the whole video lol
28:32 - It's unfortunate that you haven't seen "Trading Places" first. Otherwise you would definitely have recognized who these 2 guys were, and why this was so funny.
Trading Places and Coming to America need to be watched back to back. Incredible films.
*Paula Abdul* choreographed the Zamundan dance scene. 💃🏻
This movie is not only one of my favorite Eddie Murphy movies. It just truly shows how talented he really is of all the rules he played. In this film, it's just great.
That Soul Glow commercial is awesome. 😂
You´ll get the joke in the scene at 28:30 much better if you´ve watched "trading places", trust me 😉
You ladies made me laugh more than the movie!😂 This was me and my mom's favorite movie to watch when she was still alive. She passed in 2003 I will always think of her when I see this movie..
So many people cut out one of my favorite jokes.
"That boy's good."
"Mhm. Good and terrible."
Another recommendation of Eddie Murphy’s movies: The Nutty Professor (1996)
I loved the 80s.....good movies....eddie had a great run of movies. Beverly hills cop 1 and 2 , trading places, this movie.....
One of my favorites, I practically know this movie by heart and it still cracks me up. A true classic which can still hold it's own in these modern times.
I suggest this and they reacted

21:40: *Samuel L. Jackson* in his first movie role!
Half the cast are either Eddie or Anrsenio. Eddie plays the white guy in the barber shop as well as a barber.
You could do Beverley Hills Cop 1 & 2. They are amazing fun.
Saw this movie a million times since i was a kid and i just realized that its young Cuba Gooding jr getting a haircut😂
I LOVE OLD SCHOOL COMEDY! Back when movie makers didn’t have a 💩 about people who were offended by their content!
The Queen was the real MVP 😆
*I hope they watch the outgoing credits because so far they've only noticed them playing multiple roles once when arsenio plays the manly chick*
There is a Coming 2 America that came out two years ago. The sequel to this. All the main and almost all the supporting cast returned as well.
22:00 The Homies didn't notice the assailant with the shotgun is Samuel L. Jackson. 😂
If you haven't watched Trading Places with Eddie Murphy, you should do that next. The 2 old guys that Eddie gave the pocket change were part of that movie, makes that scene funny when you've seen Trading Places
Eddie Murphy is comedy gold!! Next to Beverly Hills cop and trading places this is my favorite Eddie Murphy movie!! So glad you guys are reacting to this one!❤️❤️🍻🍻😎🤘
1:12 Screw An Alarm Clock, Akeem Got An Orchestra To Wake Him.
beautiful film. i wish they still made movies like this
Still a Masterpiece 😍🥰
Let's take a donation and send these girls some Soul Glo! 🎶 Just let your soul glooooooo🎶
Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall both play several characters. Eddie Murphy played Prince Akeem, the barber, the old white Jewish man, and Randy Watson. Arsenio Hall played Semmi, the extremely ugly woman, the old black man in the barber shop and the minister.
A Fish Called Wanda is another great comedy from the 80's.
If you haven’t seen Les Visiteurs (1993) / The Visitors, you haven’t seen a real comedy, ladies! Please - watch and react! ...You will thank me for that ...for years to come 😇
Eddie Murphy revealed he stepped away from acting after a string of critically reviled movies made him a Razzie darling. “I was making shitty movies,” Murphy said .
The woman in the middle here (the middle "Homie" woman) resembles an Icelandic actress of the 1970's named Anna Bjorn. She was in the movie "More American Graffiti."
Hello Ellie, Michelle, & the gorgeous Lia looking fine in black!🙂Great reactions to this classic 80s comedy, Ladies!!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I really enjoyed your reaction. Please consider BOOMERANG (co-starring Halle Berry) and HARLEM NIGHTS (a cast of comedy legends). Both are great comedies starring Eddie Murphy.
Eddie Murphy in "48 hours". Awesome movie.
“Is this a private plane”
A single line that reveals so much…
james earl jones "the king" is the voice of darth vader
Could you imagine if the Homies watched Eddie Murphy‘s stand up comedy. Delirious or Raw. now that would be one. Funny reaction.
This is such a GREAT movie. LOVE IT!
All you girls should…COME TO AMERICA! 🇺🇸😎
The two homeless guys were in a movie with Eddie Murphy called Trading Places, where they were rich and Eddie Murphy scammed his way into their life and they ended up broke, that’s why he said “we’re back”
One of the funniest romantic comedy movies ever made!
Everyone in the Barbershop except the guy next to the window was Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall
1. They killed the multiple roles.
2. The appearance of the Dukes is an "Easter egg" from "Trading Places".
3. James Earl Jones AND John Amos! GMAFB😎😎😁
4. A movie featuring John Amos worth a first time/share is "The Beastmaster".
This film is a classic comedy. Great reaction Homies! 👍🏿
45:30 Lisa! 😆
The King (James Earl Jones) and Queen (Madge Sinclair) in this movie were Simba’s parents, King Mufasa and Sarabi in the animated The Lion King.
This Trading Places, and Beverly Hills Cop are my favorite Eddie Murphy movies.
Eddie Murphy WAS an amazing comedian actor .... he changed A LOT (at least I don't know why) .... you must watch another movies from him near to those good years! .... there is a Crossover to this one you didn't notice because you haven't seen it yet!
I have a suggestion for you: "THE NUTTY PROFESSOR", with Eddie Murphy
34:51 RIP Louie Anderson.😢
Michelle.. seeing those clear eyes opened my heart a little. Thanks
Dude said an oblong ball. I felt a sense of COME ON MAN!
The landlord at 11:32 is Barney from Red Dragon, the Silence of the Lambs & Hannibal.
6:20 - This was the most amazing dance performance I've ever seen in any movie. As it turns out, Paula Abdul did the choreography for this dance.
I always thought it was Debbie Allen who did the choreography?!! But Paula did it! How cool
@@dawnisunique Yes, I just double checked it. It was Paula. 🙂
@@TampaCEO lol how cool! Either way both ladies are great choreographers 😌
@@dawnisuniquePaula was a former student of Debbie Allen, but Paula did do the choreography. She was dating Arsenio Hall during this time.

Now that you have seen this movie you must watch "Trading Places", because of the crossover scene with this movie. You will understand after you see them both. You should also watch the "Beverly Hills Cop" series with Eddie Murphy, classic and really good. I would also recommend "48 Hours" I believe it was his first movie, and I don't think I have ever seen another reactor watch it.
28:30 for understand this part you must to react "Trading Places"
You girls are fun, im American, played football with some Bulgarians watched the world cup with them too, girlfriends cooked goulash, you should watch The golden child and then Beverly Hills cop 1 and 2, and then 48 hrs 1 and 2, keep up the good work, Eddie Murphy is a legends legend here in America
5:49 beautiful way of asking :3
King Jaffe Joffer: "There is a fine line between Love and Nausea!"
Ellie: 😂
the movies "Golden child" and "Boomerang" are classic Eddy Murphy too!!!

It’s a underrated funny movie
They didn’t recognize all the MANY characters Eddie and Arsenio played in this movie. 😅
Right! Lol but Michelle caught on immediately that the guys in the shop…had on masks. It wasn’t until the end that they all realized it was Eddie and Arsenio 😂
2:33 - It's good to be the king.
This was my fave film when I was 12,great reaction 😊 but you really need to watch Trading places as some characters in this film were in this one! Would be better if u seen it first to get the joke but even so I think you will enjoy Trading places, also Beverley hills cop great film too 😀
In 1988… I was 11! 😉😉
“Is this a private plane?” Lol. Wow you girls are young. That was a Concord Jetliner.
You can't beat the older classics .. Another good Eddie Murphy movie is Trading places .. You will LOVE it.
Beverly Hills Cop and 48 Hours and some of Murphy’s classics. Nutty Professor also
