You're wondering why major auto manufacturers can't build a car like this. I'm wondering why major auto journalism companies can't produce content as good as your reviews.
He's wrong All those manufactures can make a car like this but they won't cause it won't sell as many Majority of ppl now want auto transmission, they want those safety features as they want fast cars but refuse to educate themselves how to handle It's all about supply and demand my friend
Doug would probably go, "Look at these funky plastigy pedals, it's a 6 speed manual. What are these? I feel like I want to shift with it all the time! And that's the quirky part of the Subaru S209."
I feel like the car in this video and the creator(s) of the video have some things in common. Attention to detail where it counts, spending the time to get all the necessary data, and a dying breed. Absolutely phenomenal. This was a fantastic review. Unbiased, highly critical, looking between the lines. This is why I watch this channel avidly. Keep it up guys.
I should never have watched this. I sat in a dealership in San Antonio trying to make numbers work on this car. Didn’t happen. I knew I was going to miss out on something amazing. Now I know I really blew it! Great review.
Think of what other great cars you could had gotten for 70k new or used that is better than this car. A GTR is better than this car all around and for a lightly used one, 70k hits the mark pretty well lol
Dude just because he's buying into the overhyped manufacturer bs doesn't mean this car is even close to worth that price... You did yourself a favor by not spending all that
Agreed. But then they release the next gen WRX and make it look like a Crosstrek and make the top performance trim available only with a CVT. 1 step forward, two steps back.
This IS such a special car. I applaud Subaru and STI for making it and bringing it to the US market. Their passion is not lost on me. The ONLY thing that upsets me is that right now I am not in a position to buy this car but I am so happy for those who are. I hope the exclusivity of the limited production of this car means those owners will own and appreciate this car with all the respect it deserves. Again, well done and thanks for the in-depth break down on this car.
This is the best review on this car I've seen, by far. I now understand why someone would want to buy it. It's not for me, but I get it. Thanks for sharing.
These cars are so much more than numbers and much greater than the sum of their parts. I was lucky enough to drive an s205 and it's one the best cars I've driven.
Yes, I am absolutely a Subie fan, but the quality of this video was so good! The way that you explain the build process and how the price was assigned was so intricate. Thank you for yet another informative and entertaining review.
Great review. I love my S209. I also own a 2017 STI Limited. Driving them side by side you can feel the difference in engineering. The 209 was worth every penny to me.
I never understand what you guys are talking about when you go into the specifics of the suspension and tuning but I like it because it makes me feel smart when I adjust the suspension in video games.
lol subaru engineers are the 3rd rate bum team, the guys that couldnt get jobs at toyota or honda or nissan or mazda. subaru sucks at track racing. this thing is junk engineering with junk parts: steel rear arms, 340hp 30year old turbo 4popper with 15mpg. 60/40 weight balance. this thing is for the fruity fanboi dog owners
I am a Subaru fan and have lusted after these "S" cars. This is a dream come true that Subaru has done this for us here in the USA. This was such a dream that when I logged into UA-cam and saw this video I stopped everything to see what you all had to say about it. Thank you gentleman for making this video. (:
This is what I felt when I drove a EVO 6 for the first time. Nible. Connected light and it did what I wanted it to do. Amazing feel for a car from 1999. Ended up buying 2 of them. Best experiece to date. Great video Mr Goose
100% accurate: there is a relationship between fatherless homes and consumer choices, along with societal outcomes, but we’ve decided it’s nolonger allowable to discuss root causes of issues.
Because that what most consumers want, they want fast and insulated cars. Raw and pure cars are always niche market. If subaru replace all standard sti and only sell s209 spec sti with 65k price tag, I'm sure subaru will not making next gen sti.
This was the best s209 review yet. You covered so many details, and this really helped put into perspective what you get, vs taking a vanilla STI and dumping cash into it. It's really something special.
There is nothing more fun and satisfying than a good handling car, you can do so much even with little power. This subbie is like Porsche gave their blessing to an STI.
I went into this video wondering just how much you'll harp on the cost of this vehicle vs. the similarly priced track focused competition and came away pleasantly surprised with how much you focused on the engineering and the feel of this car instead. It gave me more reasons to appreciate this car, as well as what Subaru continues to do for enthusiasts by keeping cars like the BRZ and WRX on the market.
I stumbled onto your channel about a year ago and I have to give you mad props. Your cinematography is great but its your KNOWLEDGE that has made me a fan. You've taught me so much I feel like I owe you tuition! :-)
Excellent! The philosophy mirrors what I've been doing looking for - a cohesive element that enhances the total driving experience. and that doesn't necessarily require the most HP, 0-60 times, biggest fins, that best infotainment, etc. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts
Somehow, this is the best sounding EJ motor I've ever heard. I'm glad STI had the guts to get this out the door, and I'm glad Mark and Jack have big smiles on their faces after driving it.
I watched about 12 seconds more, and I am mistaken. That being said, this is the last model with the EJ, as the new WRX (and STI) will have an FA-24 (that part I knew)
I love seeing your reviews. Love the grown up dry midwest humor. love the quirky awkward laughs from your co host. i especially love your passion for the car can be felt in the video.
How the fuck do you ONLY have 371k subscribers? You have, BY FAR, the highest quality automotive content. You are one of very very few reviewers who actually flesh out vehicles. Thanks for everything you do!
Great review thank you. Couple of comments: The apparent loss of power, I think is due to ‘heat soak’ which is a feature of top-mounted intercoolers. The intake temperature is monitored and the timing is adjusted accordingly to prevent det. My 2002 STi (which I sold many years ago) was prone to this. Obviously the solution is to change to a front mounted IC but not many will want to meddle with a 70k special edition. The FA engine (specifically the FA24) will almost certainly power the next generation STi and this should be worth waiting for.
Your reviews are quickly becoming some of my favorite. I was so used to hearing the same lines from the same journalists about these cars that hearing an original opinion was kind of shocking at first. Idk why, just conditioning I guess. Great job as usual.
I still don't understand why you only have 371K subscribers. Should have 1M+ The only channel that actually goes under the car to explain things properly (its probably been said too many times before)
It's quite common clichée amazing, though. Truly amazing would be to try and not make the world suck in a way that tries to kill these passions. While I can appreciate these endeavors on some level, there are other endeavors whose amazingness blows these kids' toyings out of the water. I do not enjoy watching fireworks celebrating a losing game.
Great review guys - and you totally understand that the S209 is a complete balanced package, for a connected driving experience. Sure it is possible and cheaper to get a base STI and add power, but you forget the suspension, transmission, tuning, brakes, chassis, body, wheels, tyres and the rest of the package. I'm an S208 owner, and know that there is a world of difference between the regular STI and the S208, as a few others who have driven both have also written. FYI - Just driving highways and around town in the 'SI' mode, I'm getting close to 27 mpg, but if I take it up into the mountains, go to Sports# and thread it around the bends at between 4-8,000 rpm, it's down to 15 mpg!
For the price, I do find myself catering more towards the gt350 or even the r. With that said, I found a newer appreciation and understanding for this car after watching this video. There are certain things that this car can do that the 350 can’t like behave well on the road and be more daily friendly. Yes, you can always tune the crap out of the engine of a normal sti and get more performance than the s209 for a significantly lower price, but that can be said for most manufacturers. But that’s not the point of this car, the point was to push the engine as far as they can and still make it work cohesively with the rest of the car’s chassis and suspension as well as be able to offer a warranty on it.
Great video. I can't imagine how well it drives, I owned a WRX and test drove a 2020 STI and was shocked at how much better it handled. The steering, brakes, and transmission were spot on. Everything was awesome except the engine. But everything else is so good that it is still a great car.
First of all, wrx and sti variants carry the same suspension and brakes. The only difference is the tranny and more power. Second of all it drives the same, it’s just faster. Third and lastly, the wrx actually has more aftermarket parts and upgrades than the sti variant, for most of the time. Yes it’s still a good car, but the engine is the main selling point of it because no other car company has produced this many flat-4 sells ever. If you know Subaru you know they’re known for the flat-4, wrc, and symmetrical awd. (It’s actually 60-40 but oh well)
@@jonathonmiller2309 That is incorrect, and I’m not sure what your point is. The STI has a hydraulic steering rack, versus an electrically assisted rack in the WRX. The STI has 6 piston brakes, while the WRX does not. The STI has a more advanced AWD system with limited slip differentials, versus open differentials on the WRX. The transmission in the STI has a mechanical linkage, which has a better shift feel versus a cable linkage in the WRX. I was just saying that I personally noticed all those things that added up to a more enjoyable driving experience in the STI versus the WRX I owned at the time. I just felt that they were similar in straight line performance, and that the engine was in need of updating.
@@ytrabbithole6893 alright well thanks for teaching me something. Looking up more information and my legacy has most of those wrx parts besides the 6-piston brakes, I’ve got a cvt and due to that I need limited slip diffs. Other than that I’ve got a base wrx 2.5n/a
I think the EJ motor is certainly outdated, but it's not a bad motor. Keep it maintained, pop on an intake, exhaust, tune it, and don't touch the internals and it'll make an easy low 300s for hp and torque. However, it is still disappointing that a new, $70k driver oriented car has virtually the same engine and power levels as my 2008 Legacy (after some mods, of course).
@@intensivepurposes4592 it's an engine designed to suit everything from foresters to STI's. Very few engines can be used across that range of applications
Sure, add 265 wide Dunlop tires to any car and it will eliminate a lot of under-steer. I've had a WRX for 15 years now and the engine/power argument is on point. Surprising how they have not resolved this issue yet.
I love the technical detail in these car reviews. Great job guys. Wish all car you tubers would take a lesson rather than fluffing up their sponsored car reviews. Great cinematography also. Love this channel
David Robinson Glad to see high praise from you for this car. Knowing that you have a good amount of track and seat time puts a lot of weight behind your comments. Some people will never get it; never understand it; never be able to justify the cost. This car is not for them. And that’s fine since there are so few of these and so many of other cars.
another superb review ...Mark there a more than a generation who may never have driven a connected car.at 17 I bought as mini coppers s at 66 i m driving a tuned sti and and a an e 46 m3 competition I 've never been.without that feeling and could never sell the vehicles that give it to me....keep up the good work
I love how a lot of the people commenting on this video about it being overpriced or complaining about power or interior sound like they stopped before the driving portion of the video. You know, the part where they said it's one of the best cars they've driven in the last 15 years and it's worth the money. You buy this because NOTHING feels like it today because it's built with passion and not brains. If you haven't been in an older performance car where you can feel every little thing through the steering and the chassis is speaking to you, then you will NEVER understand why this car is worth the money in today's world of dead feeling cars.
Just drove a Launch Edition Supra the other day and it feels tiny comparing to my STI, I know they are upgrading the new Supra but it needs a drop top if your 6 feet tall. Beautiful car though
Both of those cars are sports cars that are not practical as this Subaru. Adding to that in inclement weather, you will have the AWD advantage with this one.
@Bear Foxtrot "and the rod knock after 70,000 miles" My forester did not have rod knock after 230K miles. And there is no S209's that have 70K on the road yet. I don;t know about the rod knock after 70K miles but without putting any miles on the road it attracts haters such as yourself. That alone tells me that this is an awesome car.
Just loved the video! And I cant believe how some idio** I mean people can dislike this video! You cant find content like this anywhere else. Congrats for all involved in producing this vídeo. I am a videomaker and I know how hard it its to produce videos such like this. Ps. One of my goals is to have a Subaru STI
They only needed 209. Those were realistic expected sales just from people who were already Subaru fans, people who probably already owned an STI of some sort.
Your explanation sounds like me when I’m trying to explain by I prefer my old bmw to any newer hot hatch thing. It’s not about the numbers it’s about the balance and feel. I’d much rather have my 230bhp RWD manual car over some automatic insulated, sanitised 300bhp+ thing from recent years
If you think hot hatches are sanitized, then you haven't driven hot hatches. They're the most raw and connected type of car on the market, literally, above supercars. Drive a Megane RS Trophy...and then talk.
@@derbigpr500 Renault sport cars are light ans agile but they are still FWD, front heavy, don't rotate or drift, and the drivimg position is way too high. But I was meaning more golf r, a45, rs3, etc as the sanitised boring cars. I understand how a trophy could feel all raw and responsive. But I'd still take my straight six rwd car anyday.
Now I know why I love the sports cars of the 1960's so much. They were meant to be driven and to form a man + machine connection in every way. Now, I really don't know what's going on with modern sports cars today. They're heavily computer controlled and done so to preserve fragile egos and make you not look stupid in front of everyone when you try to floor it in a straight line or a modest corner. 💯% agree with all the points you both made. Sports cars are meant to be driven. We need a manufacturer that will honor this going forward or at least people to buy these cars to be enjoyed.
I love my STI and I would like nothing more than to own an S209, but I’m sorry, $70k is ridiculous. And it’s too bad, because not only is it overpriced, it effectively ensures Subaru/STI’s core enthusiast base cannot afford one.
Yea, most, e-cig smoking hipsters can't realistically afford this car. They may be able to "buy" it with borrowed money for a time but can't realistically afford it.
Just you wait - economy is about to get WAY worse, so you may be able to find one via "she took everything from me except for the dog" divorce firesale. Just wait. Divorces are spiking = deals to be had on vehicles.
So this car is basically double the price of a regular sti but with generally speaking the same interior as my wrx and a small boost in engine performance with a wing....... I like Subaru but this thing is just silly.
Cobb tuning made a night/day difference on mine. Get yours to Tim Bailey! I don't however miss all the shortcomings of the vehicle: Understeer for centuries, regardless of how much money you spend on the suspension, it just does not work on public roads if you want comfort and compliance; The wrx 5 speed transmission is a time bomb, mine blew up; The rear differential is garbage unless you get the sti version. The requirement of a better clutch/flywheel = driveability issues depending upon wear, temp, etc. It's ALL over the place. Heat soak, so pick your battles wisely. Road noise/tin can on wheels feel. Any changes = pay for a dyno tune or roll the dice. I do miss aspects of the raw driving experience, the bottom end tq of a 20g turbo, all the sounds, etc but I moved to a 370z, yeah... most would say that's a downgrade, but I gained back better handling/braking and consistency after changing the front swaybar, better tires and ditched the stupid factory alignment, as well as just a lot less money spent in constantly buying new tires, clutch, brakes, etc. The wrx is a perpetual money pit (seriously, go look at Perrins house in Oregon = there's where all your money went because Subaru refuses to do it correctly the first time) if you like driving hard and pushing things. The Z takes abuse well, but it does have it's own issues (needs factory oil cooler). There are times I'm bored of the car, then there are times I fall in love with it again. I may get a wrx sti that someone has put their life savings into and have to let go because of divorce/economy, and I think the 400z should be a good all around daily. We'll see!
Bimini Bob which Focus trim? As a former 2019 STI owner, I test drove a lot of the competitors, and honestly enjoyed the ST more than the RS. The RS is an awesome car in its own right, but it was hard to justify what they wanted for it and it would beat you to death. I’d have gone with the ST but that particular one was as base as base could get, and unfortunately the Focus had already been discontinued when I was shopping. Ultimately, the STI won out as far as overall package; fun, functional, and resale value (which unfortunately, and I guess fortunately, already experienced)
They only mace 200. You’re never gonna own or drive one of these. Most people don’t even know it exist. It’s for a very small, passionate demographic. A lot of people can part with 70k without blinking.
70k MSRP and a 20k mark up here at my local dealer in Los Angeles. smh. add in taxes, DMV fees and financing... that's pretty much 6 figures for a STI 😂😂😂
I owned STI's from 2013 - 2019. Loved my Subies and my last one was a S207 which I sold for a profit. That said, any version of a S20X STI is NOT worth $70K. Though possessing excellent track performance, the S209 simply does not pack enough performance or has the bells and whistles to warrant $70k, particularly when you look at elite performing cars like the new 2020 Chevy corvette which starts under $60k. STI for all it's positives is still based on an economy platform and at best should be price in the low 40s. I applaud Subaru though for convincing buyers this car is worth a $70k price tag.
I honestly don’t believe that anyone who ACTUALLY owned an STi for 7 years would make these statements. You’re most prob just some poser. When I bought my STI (at $36k) there were plenty of guys like you telling me that I shoulda bought a Mustang GT or Challenger instead. (for cheaper). I bought my car because I love the platform, driving-characteristics and feel. Also, my appreciation for legends such as Collin McRae. There are ZERO similarities between an STI and the new Vette. Maybe if you mentioned the Audi S5/GolfR or FocusRS. 70k is pretty Steep, but they’re only making 200 of these. It is what it is.... if this project fails, they probably won’t try it again.

Exactly.. You can pick up an older model STI for like $15K and if you drop $10-15K into it, youll have an STI that could easily compete with these ridiculously expensive new models and have more power. I know I personally spent about $8K on my fully built Ej207 hawkeye(just my motor internals and turbo system upgrades) and I was making 450whp with ease and it lasted me 3 years with no issues. If I had another 5-10K to drop on redoing the suspension and upgrading the drivetrain and some other things, I have no doubt my car woulda taken that $70,000 STI around the track with ease. I bought the Hawkeye STI for $6K back in 2014.. Had a blown motor n transmission.. Chassis only had 65K miles on it too.. I ended up selling it for $20K 2 years ago... Made about a $5K profit at the end of the day... Got a used JDM EJ207 for $2500, spent about $2500 on the motor refresh, rings, and internals(head and block), I fixed the Transmission myself(replaced 2nd and 3rd gear with a used 2nd and 3rd gear and syncro set I got on craigslist locally for really cheap for like $200), and then I spent about $3K on the upgraded turbo system with a 6262 and FMI.. On e85 I made close to 480 and on pump gas I made 420. Relatively conservative tunes the tuner told me.
@@massterwushu9699 I can make these claims because I have own two STIs, and even two Turbo Bajas, and 04 and 06 (Baja). I love Subaru, but no production Subaru is worth a $70+K price tag at the moment, 340+HP is not what is was 15 years ago. Again, love mine, but I wanted more, I upgraded to the C7 and now a C8 (on order). A beast of the machine the C8 is, and nicely equipped for under $70k. Forget Ford, Chrysler, and even Chevy (when discussion the Camaro) they are just heavy straight track boxes.
i get how you guys are saying how good this car is, and yes being 42, i remember the hydraulic controlled, tactile feeling, DIY, cars of yore. But still $65k-70k is STILL a huge pill to swallow. i'm ok with a base GT350, and save the 10-grand on tires/structural touches/maintenance or use the 10K to get a truck to tow the gt350 with
perfectly good point. but this isnt mass-produced for the public like that. as a modified mustang 5.0 owner & a former modified STi owner, i'd love a gt350 next more than anything. but if i was wealthy, as an STi fan i would 100% spend the money for an S209 to be parked next to the gt350. that's who this car is designed for- 209 hardcore STi fans who have the money to blow on something this pricey
@@80s_Boombox_Collector true, the tighter the road the more sense this makes. A mint Evo X is $25-30k and I would take that based on how much I love my 95k mile one.
@@TheAssassinscreed91 Probably traded it in on something else like I did with my 2004 STi. Also be careful, the transmission tends to have issues (hard to make quick shifts) if you're trying to make fast shifts like in a race situation (especially trying to shift into 5th gear around 95 mph) under full acceleration. There's some flaw in the 2004s transmission, because so many guys were having the same issue back in the day. It really pissed me off. It only did it under wide open throttle acceleration.Normal driving it was fine. But at the track, it did it all the time (refused an upshift at high rpms - below redline)
BLACK05GO1 I know exactly what you’re talking about. I swapped a 2004 STi transmission into my 2004 WRX and getting into 5th was always an issue due to it and 6th both being overdrive gears. They fixed it in 2007 but yep most races were lost after about 98mph lol
Oversteer/ I wonder how well a Acura/Audi type luxury brand under Subaru would do - mostly same platforms with better interior. $50k is much more justifiable with a luxury car
v8_sami 95% of Audis and Acuras are rebadged economy cars. Also most Audis are FWD (1 wheel drive) fake quattro nose heavy understeer machines so it is an apt comparison
I own a Subaru Legacy S401 STi, the last of the 3rd generation twin turbo Subaru Legacy. This S401 is 1 of 2 that officially left the Japanese shores. 1 was given to Winger Subaru for being the best Subaru Dealership in Australasia and the other was given to Possum Bourne for being the best Subaru Rally driver in Australasia at the time. My S401 replaced my daily driver, which was the face-lift 2nd generation 1998 Subaru Legacy RSK B4 GT station wagon. Both the 2nd and 3rd generation twin turbo (more like 2-stages than twin) Legacies were notorious for the “hole” when the primary turbo was transitioning to the secondary turbine. But STi did their magic on the S401 and eliminated this “hole” leaving Legacy owners feeling a bit short changed claiming the twin turbo Legacies ought to have been built this way in the first place. Anyway, the S401 is a pleasure to drive and I’d love for you to test drive it for this channel, but it’s a bit too far to drop off from here down under. BTW this was a great video!
"A relatively nobody company like Subaru"? Oh, you mean the company that has dominated rally for decades? The company that developed record breaking racecars on the Nurburgring and the Isle of Man? You're not giving Subaru nearly enough credit.
@@Dowlphin no I meant the sti engineers are heavy breathing, in excitement to show what a beefed up fa24 can do. The current normie version of the fa24 block is good for 500hp
Well that was great. You highlighted some key bits that I really relate to as a lightly modified 2016 WRX STi owner.. 1) how the Subaru feels to drive vs anything else made in recent years. It does just feel connected! I didn't find anything else to satisfy the driving sensation in a modern car that warranted the outlay. Modern DSG cars are so fast, but acceleration is only one part of a driving experience. 2) the EJ25 will never touch the EJ20 which used to love revs! When the inevitable happens, I'm going back to a JDM EJ20.. 8krpm rev limit! 3) the throttle mapping is terrible in Sports and Sports Sharp. So on/off that it made driving it in the rain feel almost too edgy. Having the map adjustments on the throttle when remapped makes a huge difference! Great video, thanks for sharing.
A base WRX STI in Jerusalem costs more than $102K. My base Legacy (150 hp, no leather seats, no sun roof) cost me $51K when i bought it in 2008 and the new base ones sell for even more now and you guys think this is expensive! Incredible review, makes me sad that 95% of manufacturers don't make cars that FEEL connected anymore, just fast and insulated.
100% accurate: there is a relationship between fatherless homes and consumer choices, along with societal outcomes, but we’ve decided it’s nolonger allowable to discuss root causes of issues.
@sasquatchBased
Because people don't appreciate it
Because that what most consumers want, they want fast and insulated cars.

I’m amazed by the depth of the analysis of the S209. Great job, Mark and Jack! I love your channel.
Excellent! The philosophy mirrors what I've been doing looking for - a cohesive element that enhances the total driving experience.
and that doesn't necessarily require the most HP, 0-60 times, biggest fins, that best infotainment, etc.
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts
Too bad the engine falls short.
Somehow, this is the best sounding EJ motor I've ever heard. I'm glad STI had the guts to get this out the door, and I'm glad Mark and Jack have big smiles on their faces after driving it.
These are FA-25's, if I'm not mistaken.
I watched about 12 seconds more, and I am mistaken.
That being said, this is the last model with the EJ, as the new WRX (and STI) will have an FA-24 (that part I knew)

Great review thank you. Couple of comments:
The apparent loss of power, I think is due to ‘heat soak’ which is a feature of top-mounted intercoolers.
That's why the water spray paddles are on the steering column.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH
Yes, my STi had IC water spray as well. I think that its a gimmick, what Doug de Muro would call a 'cool feature'.

Dude... your videos are so good that you deserve a series on Netflix :)
“Before you throw up in your mouth like I nearly did”, some quality laughs.
u can get a twin turbo v8 merc for $70k.
but upkeep for a subaru prob a lot better
If you have to mod an engine that much out the box, it’s a bad engine.
Intensive Purposes surely some of that is due to environmental regulations?
Boxer roughness at startup and idle just turns me off. The only way to mask it is to add an exhaust, but not everyone wants a loud car.

Great review... but TBH, if i ever would spend $70k on a new sports car (never) it would be on a 2019 C7 Corvette or maybe a loaded up 2021 Supra !

@Bear Foxtrot "and the rod knock after 70,000 miles"
My forester did not have rod knock after 230K miles. And there is no S209's that have 70K on the road yet.

Most people can’t even figure out how to pair their phones to the car using Bluetooth hence why they needed CarPlay and Android pairing.
For the people who get it, they'll happily pay this. And that's OK.
any price is reasonable as long as you have someone to pay for it!
They only needed 209. Those were realistic expected sales just from people who were already Subaru fans, people who probably already owned an STI of some sort.
This is a car for driving enthusiasts not so much the "car enthusiast"
It's the Subaru version of Alpina or Dinan or whatever
I gotta say I'm not one of those people who "gets it". Then again, I'm not much of a Subaru fan. To each their own!
Your explanation sounds like me when I’m trying to explain by I prefer my old bmw to any newer hot hatch thing. It’s not about the numbers it’s about the balance and feel. I’d much rather have my 230bhp RWD manual car over some automatic insulated, sanitised 300bhp+ thing from recent years
This is why I traded my 2016 Golf R in for a Brz Ts.
I don’t know why car manufacturers don’t have you do their ads.....your cinematography is next level compared to anyone else! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
They may be able to "buy" it with borrowed money for a time but can't realistically afford it.

the fa in my wrx feels the same way. it never feels the same day after day, gear to gear. subaru tunes their cars super weird.

Masster Wushu a little of people can part with 70k without blinking? What kind of fantasy world do you live in
Dogsport1 I don’t have a RS or ST. I said Trash Focus and I meant it. I’m a fan of both of those Focus variants btw.

BLACK05GO1 I know exactly what you’re talking about. I swapped a 2004 STi transmission into my 2004 WRX and getting into 5th was always an issue due to it and 6th both being overdrive gears. They fixed it in 2007 but yep most races were lost after about 98mph lol
why?
I am a Subaru enthusiast & drive a 2019 WRX STI. I would never spend $70K on a STI. Instead I would rather buy a Audi RS3 for cheaper.
Have you driven the STI S209 ?
RS3 has too much understeer. I’m sure it could be corrected though.
Derek Walls that’s pretty much any awd car
DUM BEEZY any FWD based car.
Sunamer Z I didn’t say it wouldn’t...
Okay the camera and editing work for the montage at the beginning was fantastic, I am hooked.
Finally found the best channel on youtube for cars!
Does it include a vape?
Its electric but it simulates a cold start where it pumps fat vape clouds through the fake exhaust. I really shouldnt give them ideas.
Beat me to it. Had the same question.
omg this is the first time ive ever heard this joke thats so funny lmaoooooo................
3:33 there is a vape.
In carbon light weight 👌🏽
All things that should have been on the standard sti
Jason Kramer true but then that car would be 50+
Oversteer/ I wonder how well a Acura/Audi type luxury brand under Subaru would do - mostly same platforms with better interior. $50k is much more justifiable with a luxury car
@@shinjiiiiiiiiii did you just put acura and audi in the same sentence? Lol
@@v8_sami i mean look at all the new articles comparing the new tlx with the a4 lmao
v8_sami 95% of Audis and Acuras are rebadged economy cars. Also most Audis are FWD (1 wheel drive) fake quattro nose heavy understeer machines so it is an apt comparison
I think people forgot what it feels like to drive a drivers car. I'm gonna get a mx-5 when I pay off my daily driver.
Great review, thanks guys. S209 is definitely worth the money.
"A relatively nobody company like Subaru"? Oh, you mean the company that has dominated rally for decades? The company that developed record breaking racecars on the Nurburgring and the Isle of Man? You're not giving Subaru nearly enough credit.
He's talking about sales and disposable income to reinvest in passion projects like this one.
@@rydoggsc2 Investment into the rally program must not be considered disposable income. Can't imagine how much they have invested in motorsports.
Dominated for decades yea I wouldnt go that far. It wasnt just subaru for 20 years u just making stuff up as you go. Most wins in wrc is by lancia .

“Needs a type r engine”
STI division heavy breathing with the s210 FA24
When you say "heavy breathing", I am wondering whether you're talking about N/A or long stroke or something.
American's are the luckiest when it comes to buying cars and car parts, i feel so bad hearing this costs only $65K . Great review by the way and truely an amazing video quality, cheers
