I was at a house party right before the pandemic and there was a dude who was mocking farmers for being a bunch of idiots. I said, "Yeah, who do those idiots think they are, trying to stand between us and starvation." I come from generations of farmers. I am a farmer.

The first year I was married my husband was drafted into the army to serve in the Vietnam war.I was 3 months pregnant. That was 58 years ago. When he came back from the army he became a farmer.Times were hard.We rented a miners shack with an outside outhouse and a water pump outside. We rented it for 10.00 dollars a month.I wish I could go back in time and relive that time period.

Yesterday my husband notiiced a few boxes in the dumpster. We are snowbirds and getting ready to drive north, so he thought he would grab a few boxes. He picked up a box and noticed it was full of canned food. A second box had canned food in it too. He brought them home. We went through them and there was only one can of refried beans that had expired (2023). We used the can of refried beans yesterday. There were over 50 cans of soup, peaches, apriccots, vegetables, and ravioli. Bags of lentils, rice, and 😂macaroni!

Every month I either buy my extra canned foods OR ( I can't do both) I'm spending it on oil lamps and lanterns/wicks and oil, battery operated lanterns and batteries. Also I've purchased all sorts of used vintage homesteading books.Heck Ive even invested in a loom and am teaching myself weaving and spinning. This month I went a bit over budget BUT its worth it ; I bought organic bulk grains, purchased 8 chicks, bedding, food, etc.. NOW I'm getting my coop cleaned out and ready to go ( I haven't had chickens for almost 2 years).

PLEASE listen to Patara. We are dangerously close to having to hunker down and live on whatever food, water, medicine and all necessities that we have now for a very long time. There won't be time or opportunity to run out to get what we need. Patara has to choose her words carefully. You must pay attention and read between the lines. Time is extremely short. Watch Iran, Israel and China. What happens there will affect this country very quickly and severely. It will likely be multifaceted and overwhelming. We could be forced to live in a 18th century world in an instant. This weekend the situation is extremely volatile. I don't even want to venture too far from my home. PRAY Prepare and PRAY some more. I know that it's scary. Get right with God and pray for wisdom and discernment. We are all here at this time for a reason and God will equip us with what we need, but we have to do our part. Blessings.

My husband may not have a college education, but he's a master carpenter (loves to build furniture), can do any kind of remodeling, roofing, electrical, plumbing, or cement work, and can fix/rebuild motors. He does all of the maintenance on our tractors and vehicles, as well as home maintenance and remodeling. He was a volunteer firefighter/EMT for over 25 years and has a lot of medical and first aid skills, too. He's a big history buff and keeps current with politics and local, state, national, and world events. I'd match his intellect and abilities to anyone with multiple degrees in multiple fields. He's the go to person in our neighborhood and circle of friends when anyone needs advice or help with any project. Just because someone doesn't have a degree doesn't mean they aren't intelligent, skilled, or knowledgeable. Oh, and he's genuinely a nice guy, too, and a great husband, father, brother, and friend. (I have a degree and worked in the medical field for many years, and I think he's way smarter than I am!)

And a lot of us learned from our parents(born during the depression) and grandparents. I make my own soap and have hundreds of jars of meat and veggies that I have canned. When I worked full time I bought totes and stocked up on paper towels, toilet paper etc and when I moved my kids and friends thought I was crazy for having all of that until C-19 hit and they couldn't find toilet paper. One of them even texted me saying ...you are not crazy! I have taught people how to garden, make soap, traded skills I had in exchange for them showing me how to do something new. God opens the doors we need and closes doors that need to be closed. Listen to the instincts God gave you, keep an open mind and you will survive, lean on God he's got your back!

My father, a farmer, likewise had a grade 6 education, but his skill set for running a farm and working as a carpenter doing construction, went way beyond any university degree. We always felt "less than" by our city relatives, but I see now how fortunate we were to be raised how we were. All the food we ate growing up was organic even before it was a thing. Look at us being so cool back then. 😊

I was born into a "prepper" family, AKA farmers. Momma had me working in the garden by the age of four, and helping in the canning kitchen, too. Small hands, trained quickly to snap green beans and shell peas. I've lived in cities, but returned to the country. I retired from nursing and relearned how to nurse the soil...all debts paid except the usual utilities. My husband and I are very skilled. My daddy was a master carpenter and he taught me well. He was also a mechanic and taught me how to fix (older) vehicles. I love my tractor, but I can also work with a couple mules😊. My uncle was a wrestler, and, as most of his seven children were boys, he taught me how to defend myself against them, lol. He passed away about a week ago😢, at 87 years. I kinda feel lost...my family is why I am here and for them, I continue to teach, preach and prepare...

About 4 tears ago i had a dream of famine coming, some places worst than other. So if you have a piece of land and even in an apartment you can grow certain things do it. Every day things are getting worse, wars rumors of war. Now Israel is waiting for Iran to attack them, this is not looking good for us either . The news are not telling the truth about how many people have come to the country through the open borders. By now must be at least 20 million people. China, Russia and Iran probably by now have their armies here. And they are not doing anything about it the borders are still open. God help us, lots of prayers for this country and for people to wake up. Only God can help us😢

Husband recently retired from his job of 25 yr years…because it was the only way for him to pull out his 401k.
We already lost 300 grand in 2016..we just didn’t want to risk loosing more.
Paid off debts, built a greenhouse, put in 2 2500 gallon water catchment tanks for our roof. Putting in a wood burning stove, repairing things, gathering supplies…
I’ve been learning how to grow vegetables and can them the past 6 years. Getting our meat birds soon. Doing what we can to be a bit more self sufficient. If the Lord tarries, he will have to find another job…in a few years..but we are trying to be ready for today.

We are homesteading. I have degrees in chemistry and human biology and my husband is using his 3 graduate degrees to support our lifestyle and building up our homestead. We are not prideful, we are all in the human condition and see others as equals. People can judge us for driving older paid for vehicles and a property that’s below our means. We know we’re debt free and loving our lives. I learn as much and fast as I can. Know I’m blessed to have the resources to prepare. I don’t defend myself when people come over and are surprised at our “inferior” home. We know we’re doing what needs to be done. We also don’t have those people back.

My Daddy had an 8th grade education. He grew up during the Great Depression, with 13 siblings! He learned a trade, brick & block mason, and later got his GED. My Dad's career lasted 50 years, and he became a Master Mason and Carpenter, and General Contractor. He could weld, build whole houses from the ground up. He had customers in 3 different states, and he always said "if you learn something by actually doing it, you'll never forget it" My Dad passed away in 2018, but his legacy lives on in me and my 2 brothers, one of them is also a Master Brick Mason & General Contractor. Practical skills will NEVER fail you.

In my younger years I didn't put those skills to much use but I never forgot them. As I have gotten older . . . It's how I live my life. Remembering the ways I was taught has really brought me a level of peace and comfort that no matter what I will be ok.

I just put in 8 more box gardens adding to the 4 I had. I got 2 skids of manure and dirt. I’m 61 w disabled husband and I just bought 20 chickens. I build a coop last year, canned 1,100 jars in last 2 years and so I know canning. I was a CNA for 20 yrs and I know more then just first aid . I hurt, I’m tired and taking care of him , chickens, dog, canning, building, trying to put house together sense we moved . This our 3 rd yr here n I still haven’t painted lol… gardens n panty set up came first. I planted fruit trees, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, pears, apples. Made apple jack, own apple cider, learned so much ! I baked bread for the neighbors just to practice lol. If I can do it w arthritis, fibromyalgia, and breathing problems anyone can! I even bought tons of wheat berries, sugar, salt, hand grinder, froze eggs, butter, made ghee, working my tail off and I see things getting worse. I know I have my pew pew w me, my stuff to go in it n lots of extra. I don’t drink but bought vodka and rum n whiskey for making vanilla and first aid , cough medicine. Everyday I learn more. Made plenty of mistakes. But I just say to myself, hey, you made the mistake now when it’s not life or death. And look at all you’ve succeeded in.! Keep prepping peeps !

I don't know about you but in my spirit I have more of an urgency now more than I have ever had. I really feel time is running out because Joseph had prepared he saved a nation. For the suburban woman in a 1 bedroom apartment getting ready to move to the/ more of the country - You can best "prepare" by learning skills. Maybe picking up some basic tools and equipment like a heavy duty basic sewing machine, ironing board, iron, a water bath canner pot, maybe a pressure canner. Find a community garden in your area and spend some volunteer time there learning. Is there a Habitat for Humanity chapter working on a house in the area? If so consider volunteering to pick up some tool use and building skills. It also time to visit the local library(s) a couple of times per week. 12:02

I wish her many blessings in her preparation to move. Love your videos Patara. I know the message from the lady you spoke about may sound totally strange to us - hopefully she is still progressing toward readiness but above all I applaud her for recognizing she needs out of the city and she is clearly awake to the need to prepare. It is so saddening the disrespect they get from the governments and people that have no clue where their food comes from. The family farm is an endangered species we should all be concerned about.

I used to live in a very tiny apartment and they used to have a broom closet most Apartments here in Texas has an extra closet within it whether it be a coat closet or a broom closet so just use the coat closet for prepping that's what I did. You do what you can with what you got. Like for instance right now I am doing more garden beds in the backyard and because I don't have any extra money for wood or Corners to make a raised bed. I'm using cut down logs and thick branches to create my own country like style raised beds and it's working perfectly. Use what you got with what you have and work with what you got. You need to prep and prepare now because like my mom always says what doesn't happen in 40 years, can happen in one day!

As an art educator, a scenic artist for a large theatre in Lancaster County, a muralist for businesses and homeowners, a sign painter and business card designer, l came home every night and worked outside til l couldn't see . I taught myself to garden and can, to knit and crochet, to sew my children's clothing and make a home for our family.
Of everything,l loved the 'home work' the best. That down to earth knowledge is the greatest and most satisfying of all.
I highly recommend learning the skillsets
that serve you best when the going gets rough.

The first stuff I ever canned was pickles, and strawberry jam. Today my wife made some muffins using applesauce that I canned 9 years ago.

Random thought… we are thinking of “spare parts” we need to purchase to keep on the shelf such as extra pump for well, extra oil filters for truck, mower, spare water hoses, etc…

Baby doll, I'm a former welder/fabricator with medgas certs and can also hold a tolerance on a mill.. I currently make a living cutting grass, self-employed...😂😂😂
The looks that I get from some of the creatures that pass by while I'm working stokes my internal fire while I just keep my head down and smile..
I love your message, thank you.🙂

At my home, the compost that I made is my ""black" gold. The honey that I harvested is my "yellow " gold. Any gardening skills on food growing and orcharding or any food preservation skills that I had learn are my "survival" gold. I am so bless by God,. It took me almost 20 years to learn, fail , but I am still learning. Ya, a life-long learning blessed with endless gold that money cannot buy.

I have a dream that one day I will have my own plot of land where I will be able to be self sufficient. For now, I am learning to grow small crops on an apartment windowsill. Thanks for the reminder that even learning essential skills is preparing for bad times

I raise chickens, quail, and my own produce and bake our own bread. My husband is a successful engineer, I was a legal secretary. I dress modestly and love the Lord. We are blessed with beautiful cars and a home. We are debt free, but I’m treated differently and recently when shopping for a new refrigerator, was told, “ here are the inexpensive ones”. My husband came in and paid cash for the one I wanted and she looked a bit embarrassed. My family rolls their eyes at my preparation and saving ways. But they sure know whom to ask for help when needed. Thank the Lord for being so faithful to us and so good to us.
