The best laugh today was when Meg said she was lazy.
There are no lazy Hollars.
Ain't that the truth!
She is working hard on growing another human! So close ❤️. God bless the family.
Meg's lazy is twice my best day.
Agreed!
❤
🥰 “I'm happy, cause I like corn! ❤️ Buggy is so cute you can hardly stand it! 🥰
I yelled "grow" after you planted the corn! Lol!
After waiting to hear Buggy say "GROW!", I said it out loud😅
I love your pace of life...living day to day...enjoying family, food and your lovely land. I am in my 70's now and am finally slowing down..have had a difficult past 5 years and I am now recovering my life...taking care of a spouse who has been ill...my garden is my refuge...my grandchildren can finally return to my home..life is slowing again and watching the pace of your life has helped..best to you and your brilliant family...baby on the way..new life continues. Have watched you for years...first comment.! 🍃💟🍃
Great first comment! 88 likes already. Aging is not for sissies, am I right? 😊 Best wishes.
Hey Meg, there is no way you can call yourself lazy! You are growing a whole human AGAIN. You are allowed to slow down and rest ❤
Are y'all going to draw straws to see who cooks when Meg has the baby? I think she should have at least a month off from the kitchen. She is amazing!
Sure she will freeze mesls for them a true and grest mom
definitely at least a month
I may be mistaken but she's made mention of her adding meals in the freezer little by little. If i remember correctly she also made meals in prep for the post partum period after buggy
Ben and the boys all know how to cook. They can smoke meats and grill also. They have taught their children well!!
She is amazing!…Ben’s pretty awesome too as are the kiddos..beautiful family for sure!❤
Meg... As my Momma used to say... Home canned green beans are better than NO green beans until the fresh green beans are ready!!! 😊 ❤ 😊
I'm so glad Buggy is Happy. That girl makes this Grandma's heart sing 😍
In this planting video...they became the "happy, hatted Hollars( except for Meg, Jack and Tyler...who were inside ...and just Happy Hollars..lol)! Glad to see good sun protection practices in play in the gardens! Buggy's orange hat was the thing!...Great lookin' dinner Meg...with all that butter...Julia woulda' approved..I'm certain!!🤣🙂🙃😆🙂👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
I want a Buggy. She is a doll.
I laughed so loud I scared my coworkers 🤣
Buggy is a joy to my day. She is a ray of sunshine, an girly tomboy and glad she is "Happy". Everyone needs a "Buggy". Never a dull moment at your house.
Makes this grandpa's heart sing, also.
Meg, try sprinkling about a 1/4 tsp sugar over that half-gallon of beans at beginning to cook them.
Glad buggy is happy
Have you ever tried French Green Beans ? Might be an addition to your canned beans with Onions and peppers.
Watching you turn over larger and larger beds to Brett each year is so nice. We had really spotty germination in our corn last year, so we went out everyday when the silks were first opening, broke off one or two of the pollen parts and made sure to touch lots and lots of silks. Took less than 5 minutes for maybe a handful of days and our pollination was nearly perfect. Might be something for him to try for those edge stalks.
Ive always just shaken my corn, like tomato branches.
Just watched the baby reveal for Buggy and it’s so amazing how fast time goes by. Your offspring are so enjoyable to watch grow into fine young adults. As parents you both are the best. Praying many blessings on your family.
I love hearing the birds in the background!
The Vid ain't over til Buggie says "bye"! That just the way it is. Be blessed y'all. Jesus Rules!
I tell you, little Buggie is so precious! Seems like she has grown a bushel here lately, even her blonde locks have grown so much! She sure was enjoying her supper, so sweet! Ben, all your hard work transforming that hard red clay into good, loose and rich dirt is definitely paying off! You've got some good soil now!👍 Meg, I'm at the point of expecting to hear a new baby has arrived any day now! Not knowing your due date, I can tell it's very soon!💞 I keep you in prayer for an easy delivery🙏 Rest as much as possible these few days before birth!❤
When Buggy said she was happy, ugh my heart just melted. She is just the sweetest little thing. I'm sorry I had to chuckle when Meg said she only wanted to cook the chicken and nothing else lol I can relate to that and Im not even pregnant lol
I have to say I will never get tired of seeing buggy's sweet little hand wave and hearing her adorable bye, with such genuine happiness. Just love it! ❤
I can’t help but smile when Buggie says “Bye” 💕✌️
You & your family, the way you're raising your children ... makes me feel like God's saying : see here - these children will be very blessed at being the teachers of our future .... how to live and help others prepare to help for our futures. Keep up these blessings, i have hope in their futures & the futures of others because yes, number one of God, but number two because of families such as yours. Thank you for fir adding to that hope. Truly love y'all and please know y'all are being prayed for. God bless!
Love the 2\4 idea for straight rows! Glad Buggy is happy!!!!! Lol
Praying that the birth of the baby, when it’s time, will be without complications and that you will recover fast 🙏🙏
Bye! Gotta love it. Thanks Hollers for sharing your beautiful family with all us old guys. Blessings.
That buggy is a natural… She’s doing the Rose Parade Princess wave. You bend at the elbow, not at the wrist. Yup she’s a natural.😊🌹🌹🌹
Hello from South Africa 👋. I am such a huge fan of your channel.
Awe great video again, but Oor Buggy is just adorable when she says her bye's, and her excitement for corn too, you guys keep it soo real j thank you for that, 🙏🏼💖, love n hugs from Shropshire England 🏴🥰
I think that's great that you're planting corn even with the ground and several types because they should ripen at different times. The corn seems to grow up out of the ground anyway. Our neighbor plants his corn at two week intervals but he plants all the same corn. Brett has a great garden space set-up. It'll look beautiful with the watermelon and other plants. We have that happen too where the side that gets the wind on the edge doesn't get pollinated well and the rest of the corn is fine. The plan to mulch heavy sounds wonderful! I love that golf cart! Great, onion starts and leeks! Beets and onions, companion planting from the book "Carrots Love Tomatoes." I like red onions! Maybe you could ferment them after you harvest them? That bed looks happy. I really like your hugelkultur mound! That's great that you can grow so much on that mound that you weren't sure would even grow! Your own canned green beans, yum. Nice, breaded chicken baked in butter! Barley couscous = barely couscous! Thanks for this great video Hollar family!
That baked chicken and green beans looked so good😊! I love that Buggy is happy…the joys of being a child😘!
Love hearing Buggy saying goodbye
It’s not a Hollar homestead video till Buggy says her adorable bye. Can’t wait to see her with the new bambino.
Hubby used to "top" corn plants for a seed company. When the tassels mature take a couple and pollinate the outside plants
Huge fan of companion planting. Better harvests for sure !
Buggy🥰❤
I think I heard Meg say she has begun stockpiling frozen meals when she can for her baby break! I think her kids can help out anywhere needed along with Dad.
Meg I am feeling every moment with you! I’m past baby years but I remember! My love and prayers are with you! Any day now would be good! May can’t get here soon enough! 👶🏻😊👏👏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🥰. Peace! Breathe!
It is always wonderful to see this beautiful family no matter what you are doing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dang, that bacon looks good, eggs too? Yum, yum!
The “barely couscous” comment gave me a good laugh 😆
Love all the updates as to what you’re planting and growing. You guys are doing a wonderful job. Looking forward to seeing the little one. Won’t be long now. 👍🙋🏻♀️🥰
I love the sound of the birds in the background. So beautiful.
I love me my Hollars!! You give me smiles and a happy heart watching your efforts and how loving your family is to each other. Super Meg!! Bets Mom ever. Ben the hardest working man I’ve seen in years. God bless you all ❤️❤️
I am so glad that Buggy is happy 😃

Planting for the future. A lovely supper.
i love how Meg laughs at you and you just smirk lol hugssss
Hollars. Thank you so much for your suggestion of the intelligent gardener. I've learned so much. ❤
However you do it .. everything looks Happy including Bugie ❤
Buggie is as cute as they can get ❤
I’m with you Buggy. Corn makes me happy too.
💚 Woo Hoo Hoo, Brett's new garden plot 2024, in goes some 🌽 corn! The soil really is improving year after year! Yummy dinner, Meg! 💚
Howdy there Hollars!! 👋🏻 Go back and tell the corn to “Grow!” 🌽 🌽🌽🌽
So happy to see you all wearing hats, love from 🇦🇺
Right there with ya on the green beans Meg! Hubby can have all the green beans he wants. So gonna plant some soon!
Hey Hollers 👋, it is so special seeing your children out with Dad planting together and, of course, Buggie ,GROW!
I hope you have great success🎉.
The person that said they waist so much ,po po to you🤨.
Bye!
JO JO IN VT 💞
I love your EASY-GOING APPROACH to GARDENING ❤❤❤❤
We planted flat but my husband made sure to have a rigid schedule of watering. Beautiful results.
Love your channel. My wife and my 97 year old mom watch y’all every day. I’m in my 70s. Your channel reminds me of Dustin Roads channel.
Meg is such a great cook. Your kids are great and we love your Daughter. God bless you all!
Ps-Can’t wait for the new baby!
I loved all the different hats on the corn seeding crew.
I really love watching your videos. They’re so calming to watching you cooking I really enjoy them videos. I look forward to them. all the time popping up on my iPad. Just makes me smile laugh thank you for every day life you’re real people. We need more of that in the videos that people put out, no negativity no negative comments you should ever have to hear😊 beautiful birds and nature sounds on your property is absolutely beautiful
I love calming atmosphere of your videos, great background music and your family with your stories and everyday life. I am still very impressed by how much you have accomplished in "just" 7 years. It is very motivating and inspiring . So in this time of (fully understandable) less videos, I returned to your awesome playlist Whole Lotta Hollar and went back to the past and started bing watching your story from the beginning. It is great that you have this playlist in chronological order. Wish you all well and nice time together.
You would do good with a hugelkultur. Dig a small ditch, add those small limbs and roting wood, cover with dirt, then a layer of chicken compost, and another layer of dirt, then shred up some cardboard and spread it, keep going with layers browns and greens, and spray each layer with water, even layers of mulch. You can make it wide enough to make three rows of vegetables on it or even wider and do four rows of vegetables. My broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage did awesome, of course if you don't get rain you will want to put a sprinkler or soaker hose on to saturate it every so often. I had cabbage that weighed 10lbs and cauliflower was so nice it wouldn't even fit in a gal icecream bucket, same with broccoli.
Mmmmmm nothing like fresh boiled corn with a squirt or two of fresh lime juice and black pepper! Mmmmmm mmm!!
You’re creating your own nurse log beds. Very cool!
Thanks Ben for grabbing the camera 👍. It’s so much appreciated when time is precious & with so much going on. Meg girl you absolutely rock being pregnant. You have this awesome glow about you. Thank you beautiful family for sharing with us 🤗 x
Lol, giving the old shriveled potatoes one last chance at living! Good one!
Perfect timing.. just THINKING about planting my FIRST attempt at corn. Maybe I will use some grass cuttings for mulch? Hope the wild turkeys don't raid us. 🌽 🦃 Ben...Love your 'Last Resort' huggo mound garden bed. Rotting wood we got... super idea.
Good evening Hollar family 💜
Precious family! Meg, I can’t wait to meet your new baby! What a blessing .❤
Another great video! Dinner looked awesome, as usual. I also love fresh green beans straight from the garden sauteed with garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper and sometimes I sprinkle on a little parmesan cheese, delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Hello good people.
Buggy is just so dang cute!!!! On the couscous, add so e chopped onion, garlic and some chicken bouillon or broth...makes it a lot better. Know from mistake, like yours!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When Buggy says…”I’m Happy”…I melted! Hollars…you guys are absolutely awesome…all 7 and 3/4ths of you guys!…Blessings from a Western NC neighbor and your biggest fan!❤❤🙏🏻
Hon, you don't plant in hills. You plant in a furrow and you hill twice as the corn grows so the adventitious roots can do their jobs to anchor the corn during high wind events.
In your neck of the woods, hill at knee high and almost chest high. It helps take care of the weedin too. Hillin helps during those midsummer, windy downpours we are prone to havin. Corn is a high nitrogen grass so use plenty of composted manure. Kelp works wonders too. Corn also does best when planting at least 5 rows or blocks with at least 5 rows in the block for best pollination per each variety.
Allium seed germinates best in the 1st year . Seed at a heavier rate in season two when keeping old seed. Germination rate is almost nill the 3rd yr so replenish seed every season or every other season. Hope this helps. Look foward to Brett and his gardening. Nice to see the youngins caring about it.
Good evening to you all😊
Experiments are always good with Gardening. :)
Butter makes everything taste better:)
Suggestion for barley couscous...brown a little in butter, with garlic, onion, Carrot, diced. Then cook in beef broth, with a little bit of liquid smoke and black pepper, and a little brown sugar. Should have a similar flavor to Campbell's vegetable beef soup.
😊😊😊😊hello Beautiful folks...from the hills of Pennsylvania...God bless ya all..been following since the start....❤
Things are looking great Ben..can’t wait to see that add on project progress …I understand Meg is expecting soon and it’s mostly on you but she’s a trooper ❤️ can’t wait for more gardening & the new baby ..greeting from Windsor On 🇨🇦
Can wait to see the baby.😊
I plant my sweet corn in flat raised beds every year. It always produces very well.
At least the raccoons seem to think so.
Meg, dear do not like mushy green beans either so I freeze mine until I have 2 gallon size bags full and 1 quart size. I defrost them the dump them into boiling water 1 bag at a time. I only cook 5 minutes them fill the quart wide mouth jars add 1 teaspoon of salt and process at 12 pounds for 10 minutes after the gage begins to jiggle. No mushy beans from our back yard garden filled with yard long beans harvested and cut when they are between 14 - 18 inches. If longer and drying green lizards will eat the beans from the pods. I am sending love and praying for you and the new baby.
Amen , can't wait for the homegrown veggies !!!!! Ps , tell Buggy we will try her idea and tell them to GROW !!!!! Thanks 👍🙏❤
Beautiful soil. Tilled up nicely. Corn will grow nicely. Maybe put some of those logs next to the hillside to direct most of the runoff away.
Those old timers who cut in the terraces on your land knew what they were doing! That’s some pretty amazing engineering. Cooking chicken with the skin and bones adds the co-nutrients needed for digestion and assimilation of the proteins and fats. It's so much better for you! So, no laziness there, just a wise choice.
Tks for video and I will be listening to podcast tomorrow is FRIDAY.....lol...Love ya.
My favorite family 😊
Good morning 😊 yesterday I got on UA-cam an you had videos back from 2019, showing all you had did from first moving to your Homestead, wow you all have come so far, it's amazing what you have done. Meg was pregnant with Buggy. Now new baby on the way. I love that the whole family helps with everything you do on the homestead and prays 🙏 together . God has blessed you 🙏 all.
My husband used a piece of 3/4 in. PVC pipe. Worked the dirt, poked the pipe about 1 in, to 2 ins. Into the dirt, covered it as he passed the hole and went on. Flood watered the corn till it was putting on tassels. Then he put a sprinkler on a pipe to make it higher and watered it. The sprinkler knocks the seed into the leaves to make the corn.
bless you buggy
That chicken looks sooooo good. You said “bomb” I haven’t heard that in so long😂😂.
Lmao 😂 I have "brain farts" all the time 😂 Ben you made my day 😊
Meg at this point you are not lazy, call it tired.
Hügelmound is such an Edible-acres-ism. Hügel means mound, so a hügelmound is a mound-mound :-) Makes me smile every time I hear it
My husband Paul and i planted garlic for the first time last fall, its so cool to watch it coming up...
Love to watch your family. Thanks
Oh my gosh I believe that Meg is going to have twins ❤
I just read an article about you guys in Epoch Times. I have followed you for a while and it was nice to read your story.
The Patterson and Redwing are both long day. The Patterson is an excellent keeper in the northern part of the country, and are excellent for dehydration and freezing.
We planted our corn in furrows and then fertilized them and hilled as needed. My favorite was Illini sweet corn but it’s all good.
