Just wanted to say thank you for everything you have taught me. I have wanted a KitchenAid Mixed for 40 years. My husband bought me one for last Christmas as well as a food processor! Hadn’t use since I received it! I was afraid! I came across a good deal on garlic. I’ve made my first garlic pucks in my 72 years! Dehydrated onions. Set my tomatoes, peppers, chives, sage ,thyme out to sun! Our last frost date is the 20th. Garden was plowed this am! Thank you! Thank you!🍅🫑🧄❤️

Have you ever watched "the veggie boys" Chanel? Its a HUGE damily operation i think in Pennsylvania. They have many greenhouses, lots of acreage and grow a bit if everything it seems. They use a little metal stick ( maybe the size of a nail) to help transplant their seedlings. I guess its the fastest way to simply get tjose tiny seedlings into the soil. I think you woukd really enjoy their show! I cant even figure out how many generations work together. They even have a family owned country store where they sell their goods! From eggs from their hundreds of chickens, the beef that they raise and sell, of course thousands of flowers and the veggies that they grow. Its a really cool chanel!

My first green stalk is being delivered today. I couldn’t not get the cherry blossom 🌸 (Pink)😍! I ordered one and my husband also ordered one!! My front porch is going to look so beautiful!! In all honesty I literally want 6 of them! 2 for my huge front porch, 2 for my huge back porch and of course 2 for the porch at my 60 ft building. (My craft room) My bank account just laughed at me, though 😂! I hope Green Stalk keeps the pink planter. I am going to use one for Cilantro, Parsley, and mint. With the mint being on the bottom due to the aggressive growth of mint!

Then when they were overproducing I tried to slow them down by taking them off heat and lights.

I have seen planting tables with a round cut out on one side(where you can slide the leftover soil down where it is collected in a container). Hope that made sense. Everything is looking so good. Sweet potatoes, I lay them on top of soil, then as they get to 12 -16 inches I burry it like a V shape let the end out of soil, then continue and allow them to grow. When I've gotten my area covered I bury the original sweet potato. I've done this for 3 years with great results each plant grows roots and puts off potatoes.

It’s better to top off the plants awhile after transplanting. It gives the plant x to get over the transplant shock. Topping them & transplanting at the same x really stresses out the plants. It’s “double shock”.

    Tip for leggy seedlings:
Add a fan for air circulation and/or rub your hand across the tops
The movement of the plants will encourage stockier growth 👍

I ended up with TONS of little volunteer tomatillos this year! They were in little clumps of 20 or so where I had missed picking up some tomatillos that fell last year. The little papery shells were still holding together with all the little sprouts coming out!

I was able to plant some things and have some things growing inside from seed in FL last month. I am now away visiting my husband who is temporarily station in Korea w/the Air Force. My college aged daughter is house sitting & watching my plant babies. Last night I had a nightmare that they had all of my seeds out, opened, and was handling/playing with them. Hahaha Gardening is no joke! Lol

Hey, Becky, have you ever watched Garden Answer here on UA-cam? I think you would really enjoy her video's. She lives in eastern Oregon. Although her growing contitions are different than yours she is so knowledgeable! Her parents own a garden center and she grew up working there and gardening chores at home.

I would highly encourage you to try the soil method with your sweet potatoes. In my experience, it is quicker AND you don't have to root the slips afterwards. The slips will already have roots attached to them when you separate them from the sweet potato. I've been using this method for the last four years and it's awsome!

Just a quick FYI hint from another channel, on dealing with gnats:
    1) From City lot gardening - after planting seedlings, top the soil with 1/4 to 1/2 of fine silica sand. It prevents the fungus gnats from setting up shop in the soil.
    2) From provident preppers - using a dilute neem oil solution will kill any gnats.
