Oh my god I love the bromance lute and Dickmaster have going on, my absolute favorite part of the show is when they duet and one is singing the other one is in the background acting as a hype man for them.
52:04 “That is just not accurate.” It is. The point of the trial was to see if a sinner in Hell could be redeemed to the point of going to Heaven. Angel Dust didn’t show up in Heaven, therefore there was no evidence that worked. It sucks, but the logic Sera has is sound.
Ya, while Charlie, Emily and kinda ironically Adam and Lute are arguing the moral implications of the extermination and the hotel, Sera to had to focus on the technical aspects. Cuz now, with Adam let the cat out of the bag, has released a politically powder keg.
@@Zikkar well, waiting and hoping didn’t happen. Cuz if it did, it would open a can of worms she really doesn’t want to deal with. With Adam admitting to the exterminations, it would ruin her credibility as a leader and set of a powder keg of political and ethical discourse throughout heaven. Which she would have to put out with a ruined credibility.
To be fair to Cherri, she did not know Angel was serious about the whole redemption/rehab thing. And in the pilot Angel said that him going clean was supposed to be a secret. So Cherri doesn't know she's the problem.
Not to mention, it’s her and probably the way Angel used to cope. It’s what she’s used to, people need to stop expecting her to be reasonable and doing things the way a person who knows how to seek help (in a healthy way) would deal with their problems.
I believe the only reason why Adam suggested the idea for the yearly purge onto hell with Sera is probably because he was still VERY salty when Lucifer stole his first wife Lilith (and maybe Eve too) and just wanted to kill demons to blow off some steam
"There's no evidence souls in hell can be redeemed" I'm pretty sure she meant there's no evidence souls can physically be redeemed, as in- turned into angels
Hypothesis: souls are sending themselves where they end up. Heaven has good people who had faith in heaven’s forgiveness of their faults, and narcissistic zealots sure of their own righteousness. Hell has monsters who knew they were horrible and just embraced it as a path to power, and people consumed by guilt or self-loathing. The system isn’t just because it’s not based on external judgment at all. It’s completely self-directed for better and worse.
I remember a webcomic from the mid-2000s that had that same premise (long disappeared off the face of the internet, sadly). I vividly recall a part where the characters were walking through Heaven and one of them was complaining about how it didn't make any sense, "There are literal Saints being tortured in Hell, and we just bought ice cream from Hitler."
When I saw a thumbnail for "You did´t know" and it was Charlie and Emily and all I knew was Lucifer was gonna be in either episode 5-6 I thought it was about Charlie having a sister in heaven XD
15:01 - I was shocked and happy to see Molly make her debut. It's so sweet and I hope her and Anthony (AKA Angel Dust) meet up someday. It'll be so sweet for siblings to meet. And then Angel will tell about his mobster family .
@@CaptainCFalcon She is A spider person, there's no official confirmation that it's Molly. I get that people like you WANT her to be Molly but without official confirmation all you're doing is spreading misinformation
@@Ashurman666 people like me? That have followed Vivienne for over a decade? Before Helluva Boss, even before Hazbin Hotel? Back during the Zoophobia days? Viv has DRAWN Molly before, & her palette & style is EXACTLY the same as the spider lady we've seen. The design isn't 1:1, but that wouldn't be the first time a character had a redesign. Especially a cameo character.
I found myself connecting with Emily a lot, personally. I'm a religious person, but I want to see change happen to make my religion more tolerant and accepting. It feels like talking to a wall with more conservative people who think everything is fine the way it is. I also felt that line about pretention. It reminded me of being a teenager and learning about the hypocrisy and holier-than-thou crap a lot of people in my religion spit out. LGBTQ+ rights are human rights!
As an Agnostic with a disability, I appreciate that. Tolerance is good for the short term but I believe full on acceptance should be the ultimate goal, though, that doesn't mean that I expect everyone to do that because it will most likely be impossible without lobotomy or hypnosis. Anything above 60% should be realistic.
Same here. I often feel like my religion and thus the name of god is more often misused to justify absolute BS for personal gain of few than for the compassion it teaches... or, well, is supposed to teach.
They said in the first episode that Lilith empowered demons with her voice. And they were scared that because they would uprise And take over heaven. That's why the demon exstermation started.
One thing I love about Sera is that she is seemingly the only person Adam has any respect for. She asks "are we clear" and he goes "yeah" smiling smugly as he usually does, but then IMMEDIATELY switches to "Got it" with a less joking, and more serious expression. When he's like "well that's what got me here! ... Right, Sera?" Look at his expression. It's a look of uncertainty. It's the only time he ever seems even slightly doubtful of his place in Heaven, and it's seemingly all because he's speaking to Sera about it. Then there's the big one, near the end. She says he went too far, and sure he tries to bluster his way out, but almost immediately caves and ACTUALLY APOLOGIZES TO HER. And as if all this wasn't already big enough, this is Sera we're talking about. Sera is a woman. And we're talking about ADAM. Adam, toxic masculinity and misogyny incarnate, ACTUALLY RESPECTS A WOMAN. What the hell did she DO to him?😂
I love that about Sera, too! I don't really have any ground to stand on for this headcanon beyond the emphasis given to Sera when she mentions it, but I think Sera's opinion of an angel's morality comes into play with whether or not they become Fallen. I'm not even sure how intentional it would be, or if she has a due process for it; however, something with the way Adam respects her makes me feel like it's well guised effort to ensure she doesnt make him Fall, despite being human
So, one thing I think might be the case, regarding the masks. In the heaven Embassy, they have these gargoyle-esque statues coming out of the walls toward the back, but they're basically just exorcist angels. I think they're wearing those to look like gargoyles, since gargoyles on cathedrals were supposed to drive away evil spirits. That's just my own theory, though. So, no idea if that will be the canon reason!
A little thing that adds to the "Alastor is under Lilith's contract" headcanon is that, in the pilot, Alastor shows up at the Hotel literally seconds after Charlie got finished sending a voice mail to Lilith asking for help. 👀
I imagine that the form you get in Heaven is the form that you want most, on top of reflecting how you lived and died. Which just means that 99% of humans in the Hellaverse are secret furries. Although, given Vivsie also made Zoophobia, that doesn’t surprise me.
@@Ashurman666 dude are you kidding me that is Molly she just has a redesign because in a live stream Viv said that she’s not in hell. If anything, you’re spreading misinformation about a character.
@@Ashurman666 I mean what else you’re gonna tell me that the fish demon on one of the screens on Vox’s monitors is Baxter isn’t Baxter because Viv didn’t say that it’s Baxter even though it’s obvious. I mean you don’t even have to be a longtime fan to understand this it’s not rocket science.
@@sailorstar3148 You do realize that old designs get repurposed for background characters all the time right? If there's no official confirmation then it's nothing more than headcanon
The thing about calling angel dust Anthony is that theres a reason he hasnt told everyone in the safest place he has yet, he's probably not comfortable with that idea. Cause calling him by that name would probably feel like a huge invasion of privacy for him if he didnt tell ya. And we already saw what ignoring his boundaries ended up making him feel like
I could see that being the case, if it was his choice, but his name and whether or not he can even talk about its specifics could be included in the contract I feel like there isn't enough information to give anyone on either side any flak for what they decide to call him. At the end of the day, he's our lil spider guy that needs to be saved from a moth man
@@NevaehEvol true, no one really knows how the game was played, the art of the trade, how the contract was made, no one was in the room where it happened 😞 And agreed, we must protect the Angel Lad
so real; I feel like Angel Dust being his stage name puts him in that showy "stuff the feelings down" mindset and everyone else referring to him as that got him stuck in the act. That is, of course, until Husk broke his walls down
I’m atheist but I love the fact that Emily fully believes in and champions her religions ideals she is only angel who embraces/touches Charlie by taking her hand She refers to the sinner souls in hell and the hell borne as people while Sera and others call them demons and the righteous anger she expresses when she defies her mentor and stands with a demon side by side to call out the hypocrisy of Heaven and the exterminators throwing their morality preaching back in their faces as corrupt and unjust “If hell is forever, then Heaven must be a lie, if angels can do whatever, and remain in the sky, the laws are shady gray, when you don’t do as you say, when you make the wretched suffer only to kill them again” brilliant.
I think Lilith, maybe glossed over history for Charlie about why the exterminations began. Might be they started after a singular Overlord got to Heaven and tried to harm someone, might be she was rallyinga rebellion.
To be fair, This is *Adam* we're talking about here. Would you realistically expect him to follow that rule and keep his mouth shut without supervision?
The exorcists having LED mask was ALWAYS a design choice even in the pilot lol there actually was a scene in the Hazbin pilot showcasing an exorcist as her face mask glitches but Viv didn’t include it cause the pilot was already very long in length (the scene itself can be be seen in the trailer for the Hazbin pilot tho)
I think there is some kind of information that being kept from Charlie. In Lucifer’s song he pulls her out of harms way by pulling her from the light and into the shadow as is he’s keeping her in the dark to protect her and here Sera says that there’s a lot that Charlie doesn’t know. Also it does seem like there was an uprising by not only what Sera said but even one of the overlords say heaven would kill all of hell if they thought of uprising as if it happened before.
you have so many good points in this comment!! Im so so curious what Charlie doesnt know yet and I truly headcanon that Adam is whispering shit into Sera's ear about the state that Hell is in to convince her into letting him blow off steam via unaliving souls
one theory is that the reason souls in both heaven and hell look the way they do, is because their soul takes the form that suits them so the reason so many hell sinners are monstrous or vile looking is to reflect their darkened souls while heaven’s population embrace more hybrid animal and human looks.
I feel like the Exterminators wearing masks as well as Vaggie being an angel weren't originally intentioned, but the theories were so popular Vivzie probably just went "screw it" and made it cannon.
the exorcist masks are meant to represent gargoyle faces, as gargoyles were believed to chase away evil Adams never take this mask off, while most of the exterminators do
You know, Husk and Nifty have both been so good for Angel Dust's mental health, I have a mild suspicion that Alastor might have chosen them for that reason right from the start.
well here's two things I never thought I would say... "oh you do the mimicry thing too" "I'm sorry, did you just utter the phrase 'Satan's fiery knot'?"
So, about the background stuff with them not mentioning god. I dont know if it's deliberate or coincidental, but the worldbuilding seems like it's taking parts of older sects of judeism and christianity. For example, Lilith is from an older tradition in judeism, while god being absent with the angels doing the creating as well as the day-to-day stuff coincides well with the old Gnostic sect. They haven't mentioned the Monad and Demiurge, but otherwise it fits with Gnosticism. It'd also fit perfectly with the themes of dualism that they've been weaving into the story. Again, could be a coincidence, but it fits reasonably well.
You’ll find out about Adam and his horns in episode 8. And a theory going around is that 26:43 Adam made the exorcist women. “In his own image” because he was slighted by the first two women made for him by God. And Sam Haft was a music producer for the series
28:34 not the scissor gesture 😭 also to be fair on Lute, she could've been talking about angels loving demons. She did say VILE and blasphemous, and the LGBT only fits the latter, provided a certain verse condemning it wasn't mistranslated in the name of Wrath... 40:51 I was gonna comment the same thing but then you said it. Either he used his overlord status to force his way in or, as per my headcanon that might be tying into OC lore depending on what Season 2 gives us, he had to trade souls for permission to enter from another Overlord who owns the club.
dude, I didn't even process the scissor gesture until I was editting, and it's so the way that it is Also, that's a good point! I'm just... so used to being called blasphemous by super religious people that my brain immediately went there. also, yes, FINALLY someone else acknowledging the mistranslation for the verse that the entirety of the "gay = bad" mindset rests on ooo I could totally see Val paying his entry fees via soul exchange :o (also, thank you for the time stamps, they really help give me context to comments and not everyone does that)
The "uprising" they're talking about is mentioned by Charlie in her plot expo in episode 1. Lilith and Lucifer had united and empowered Hell so much that Heaven became worried about being outnumbered and overpowered. The implication is that there was no actual rebellion, just the possibility that a rebellion might succeed if it happened. I do agree it seems a stretch that Hell could actually threaten Heaven based on what we have seen though.
"This court finds there is no evidence a soul can be redeemed" is factually correct and need context. Sera is not saying a soul cannot improve, she is saying that is has not been shown that a soul can be redeemed, which for them would amount to ascending to heaven. Since the proccess seem not to be heaven granting them entry manually but it happening by itself. Thus no matter how much Angel Dust improves, so far nothing indicate a soul in hell can elevate to heaven, and hell's overpopulation/uprising risk remains. So that means Adam still gets his freebie pas to exterminate as he pleases.
“If hell is forever, then maybe heaven is a lie.” I guess, in a sense, Charlie did get around to defining redemption after all. At the very least, that line goes so hard! But yeah, this episode was crazy! Eager for the next one.
52:59 it’s implied at the beginning of the first episode that Lilith was trying to go against heaven by empowering Hell with her singing since they stated that they became more powerful because of it. Also also, I’m starting to believe that Adam was the one that convinced Sera that they needed to exterminate in the first place since you can see shots of Sera looking sad/guilty twice at the beginning of the UA-cam Didn’t Know song during Emily and Charlie’s parts Edit: also side note lmao Sera looks so pretty during 53:17 lmao
@@NevaehEvolLove your reactions on this series so far, including this one, so yeah I do enjoy myself watching them. :D Sharing the excitement for the designs of specific characters as well as how they are written is allways something I like seeing you do. thank you so much for the superthanks!! I really appreciate it although, it still isn't good to fetishize lesbians ^^' reducing a lesbian relationship to just "hot" isn't cool
After watching this first season a handful ot times, and after watching reactions to it a couple dozen more times, I think the scene surrounding the second song in this episode might be my favorite moment in total. Like, there are other songs I like more, and there are other scenes that might hit harder, but the lyrics, the drama, and the composition of "you didn't know" just hits so hard, and in exactly the way I was hoping Charlie's confrontation with heaven would go down. I still get chills when I see the flames reflected in Sera's eyes, and when Charlie and Emily both start attacking the hypocrisy of heaven. It's just perfect.
Hey, nevah, another great upload, my friend. Then again, what should I explain other than great content from you? Much love as always. Also, the moment will angel and nifty just melted my heart ❤️
Way I think of the Angel/Anthony thing... it's his choice and not anyone else's. The moment he calls himself that, I'm all aboard the Anthony train... maybe not the best way to word that last bit... lol
8:19 That's the normal reaction if we encounter the daughter of the most famous fallen angel and look at him , he's too "clean" for swearing its just fun.
Something was pointed out that I thought was interesting about Angel Dust. Mainly the inflections of his voice and how deliberate they seem to be. I.E. when he speaks in that high pitched, flirty tone. Thats Angel Dust, or the persona he wants people to see. But when his tone lowers, he stops his pretension and stops being Angel Dust, and in those moments we're seeing the real Anthony. So when he told Charlie off in Vals studio. That was Anthony trying to protect her from Val, and just now when he told Val off in the club. That was Anthony coming out again, fully ready to throw down if he had to.
Not only Val is at a club named Consent, he even has his own personal corner there! (Man...) At the corner where he's sitting you can notice his insignia on the ceiling (it looks like a moth, really pretty). (In the previous episodes I've noticed it on the monitors in his room, on his phonecase and some of the posters)
"I swear to Satan's fiery knot" absolutely demolished me LMAO. I have never heard something so uniquely out of pocket like that, like i beg your FINEST pardon?? what the FUCK did you just say??? 🤣🤣
I wouldn’t say Lucifer tried to “stick it to the man” in either this or the old stories. More like “I’m gonna do it better”, and less “What you’re doing is wrong, and I’m going to resist your rule.”
I feel like revolting the process of heaven hard enough to become Fallen is pretty "stick it to the man" but I could be mistaking biblical lore w the shows lore
one theory that I haven't seen be passed around but I personally subscribe to is that there were multiple factors to the start of the exterminations because while Adam wanting the exterminations because he's salty that Lucifer stole both of the women he viewed as his (and also to maintain/gain power and relevance as the leader of the Angelic Armies because if not for the exterminations why would heaven literally paradise need an army) that doesn't really explain why Sera would allow them. I know that it says in the intro to the first ep that Lilith empowered the other demons with her voice and heaven was threatened by their numbers and that makes a fair bit of sense but frankly I think there was a third factor I think that Emily may be Lucifer and Lilith's (or possibly even Lucifer and Eve's) child that they had BEFORE Charlie who Lucifer tried to raise with good heavenly morals and was killed and subsequently redeemed and brought to Heaven but has no memory of this for some reason. This would explain why Lilith seemed to be trying to keep Charlie from Lucifer and why Lucifer said "I've tried this all before my dreams were too hard to defend". Hell if Emily was killed by someone from heaven say for example a pissed off jealous Adam (or it was framed to look that way) then that could have been what sparked Lilith to actually switch from simply empowering other demons to an outright uprising. also another thing I noticed while looking back at the intro to the first episode is that we actually SEE character depictions for GOOD and EVIL so they might be more than just semi-ambiguous concepts...
The contrast between Sera and Lucifer as leaders, Lucifer literally couldn't care less about the people he ruled basically giving up on anything but absolute bare minimum while Sera is willing to go to great lengths to do her job, I get the impression not letting Lucifer help with the mortals was a call born out of many a ruined project because he got bored or quit halfway through,
See, people mention "direct exposition" like that being bad, but I can't tell you how many times while talking with my friends we directly exposit things to each-other or ourselves just as reminders. Like literally yesterday my friend said to me "You shouldn't use that character because", and I interrupted and finished, "Because this boss is resistant to fire and all of my damage is fire".
I mean, there's nothing *wrong* with direct exposition in story telling, it just takes more effort and subtlety to pull off indirect exposition, thus making it more interesting, in my opinion. But they aren't the wrong/right way to write or anything
@@NevaehEvol Oh I agree, I meant more that it's not too unrealistic. I mean, unless it's like someone giving a several paragraph expositional monologue lol
I don’t think people understand Cherri Bomb’s character-- She’s an enabler because both she and Angel most likely used drugs/sex in order to get cope with their trauma (or any problems thrown to them) This was always her character, we just didn’t see it completely but we do see a bit of it in the pilot. Her simply making Angel tag along in her, nor does she tell him not to stick around during the turf war with Sir Penthouse. She isn’t a bad friend per say, she just doesn’t have a healthy way of coping yet. (I’m also pretty sure she doesn’t know Angel is trying to get redeemed) She’s literally mirroring Angel’s unhealthy way of coping. I’m sure we’ll see more of her and why she’s the way she is, the same way we did with Angel.
I think how the extermination first started was Adam was bored in heaven, and came up with the idea of killing Sinners as an yearly thing, Sera probably noticed how Lilith was empowering the demons with her songs, and took adams idea cause it was an quick fix, as she seems to prefer to take an quick escapes from problems, shown in the Song ''You didn't know'' She was losing her support and didn't want to let everyone see that she was wrong and that no one knows how souls get into heaven.. hence towards how she silent Charlie when she mentioned how no one knew how souls got into heaven. And then in the end of the song, She uses the chaos of Adam saying Vaggie was an exterminator as an escape goat to end the court and fast escape. Sera is the type of person who will take any Fast solution to any problem instead of facing it head on.
While it is true that Cherri is enabling Angel's behavior. I don't think she deserves to be blamed for it. She cares deeply about her friend and just wants to look out for him.
31:44 It just dawned on me. Most likely this club belongs to that dinosaur overlord. Judging by the pilot, she owns such clubs. Although it may be Valentino, but he’s sitting here as if he’s not in his own territory. This would also explain such a large number of reptilian sinners. Also Cherry wouldn't have led them into Vee's territory either
One show that played on the characters wearing the same clothes all the time? Gravity Falls. The main characters play both side of the coin with Mabel not wearing the same sweaters each episode (someone different sweaters during the episode) and Dipper who wears the same thing and was even called out for it.
"This court finds that there is no evidence that souls can be redeemed" I think- The thing that everyone might not consider is that it isnt that if they can't change, clearly angel has changed, but the fact of the matter is that they clearly have no say in if and when a soul is redeemed, angel's still in hell, still a demon, and not in heaven yet. So therefore there is no evidence in Demonic ascension/redemption to Heaven.
14:46 Very certain thats actually supposed to be Anthony's (Angel Dust) sister. The color palette and spider inspiration match between them and I believe I remember hearing that some of Anthony's family went to Heaven instead of Hell.
I agree about Alastor selling his soul to Lilith. I don't think it's a coincidence that he showed up at the hotel moments after Charlie got done breaking down to her mom over the phone in the pilot. Also, his interactions with Mimzy make it seem like he's been _ordered_ to protect the hotel...or Charlie in particular.
That spider girl that you pointed out has been theorised to be Angel Dusts twin sister, Molly (: Also, I'm also happy that the designs of the Winners (the living who died and went to heaven) are as diverse as the Sinners. It would be a missed opportunity on Viv's end to not flaunt her artstyle
St. Peter is your first indication that angels like Adam and Lute are NOT typical angels. It's subtle, but it's there. _St. Peter doublechecks and triplechecks the Book of Entry when he doesn't find Charlie's name._ St. Peter is fully aware of, and admitting of, the idea that angels make mistakes, and is making sure there has just been a mistake when he doesn't find Charlie's name. Compare that to Lute and Adam's assertation that 'angels don't make mistakes' to Charlie. Also, once given the go-ahead from Sera, he not only happily opens the Gate for Charlie, he does it with the SAME enthusiasm as he would for any Blessed arriving at the Gate, clearly not caring outright who Charlie is or that she's Lucifer's kid. He welcomes her openly, readily, and HAPPILY. He doesn't judge her on where she's from (though there is an admonishment to keep the brimstone off the floor, that seems more like he's annoyed by the mess than a dig at demons) and is BEYOND pleased to let her in. You get this sense that, if he were allowed, he'd never CLOSE the Gate. Compare that to Lute and Adam coldly dismissing all Sinners as worthless and actively hating them. Nono, Emily and St. Peter are the NORM in Heaven, LUTE AND ADAM ARE THE EXCEPTIONS.
I was one of the people who suggested that the Exorcists looked demonic because their appearance changes while in Hell. I remember hearing that somewhere and thought it was backed by Vivziepop, but this episode clearly proved it wrong. They’re just LED masks that were probably Adam’s idea in order to seem more hardcore and badass. That said, Emily’s “down” In Welcome to Heaven also scratched an itch in my brain and I swear I’ve heard a line very similar in another song. I just can’t remember where and it’s driving me crazy.
I swear it was such a filter bypassed sound Why, thank you that scene was really funny so it stuck in my lil noggin double thank you!! you're so sweet!

@@0Magicallywild0she’s a good person but a bad influence even if she means well
that's a very good point, thank you!
Yeah, she's using Cheat Day rules.
I believe the only reason why Adam suggested the idea for the yearly purge onto hell with Sera is probably because he was still VERY salty when Lucifer stole his first wife Lilith (and maybe Eve too) and just wanted to kill demons to blow off some steam
That would be a really believable motive!!
"There's no evidence souls in hell can be redeemed"
I'm pretty sure she meant there's no evidence souls can physically be redeemed, as in- turned into angels
It’s completely self-directed for better and worse.
ooooo wait this is SUCH a good headcanon
I remember a webcomic from the mid-2000s that had that same premise (long disappeared off the face of the internet, sadly). I vividly recall a part where the characters were walking through Heaven and one of them was complaining about how it didn't make any sense, "There are literal Saints being tortured in Hell, and we just bought ice cream from Hitler."
We love Nifty for bein a creepy Gremlin this episode

Well i think Emily is so young as she was made as Lucifers replacement
That would be cool
I totally agree, especially bc she took his place as the "joy and happiness" person, so they'd have a lot to chat about
When I saw a thumbnail for "You did´t know" and it was Charlie and Emily and all I knew was Lucifer was gonna be in either episode 5-6 I thought it was about Charlie having a sister in heaven XD

15:01 - I was shocked and happy to see Molly make her debut. It's so sweet and I hope her and Anthony (AKA Angel Dust) meet up someday. It'll be so sweet for siblings to meet. And then Angel will tell about his mobster family .
There's no official confirmation that that's Molly. Like, any at all.
I'm hoping that it ends up being Molly, as my subtitles would suggest, but without it canonized, there's no way to be 100% confident
@Ashurman666 dude... that's fucking Molly. Viv already told us Molly is in heaven. And we know she's still a spider person.

Anything above 60% should be realistic.
Same here. I often feel like my religion and thus the name of god is more often misused to justify absolute BS for personal gain of few than for the compassion it teaches... or, well, is supposed to teach.
That moan during welcome to heaven was great, thanks for the laughter.
I'm glad you got a laugh out of it
I was listening on high volume dude 💀
They said in the first episode that Lilith empowered demons with her voice. And they were scared that because they would uprise And take over heaven. That's why the demon exstermation started.
Thank you! People seem to forget about this for some reason.
@@NevaehEvol We also saw her silhouette during the creation of earth. Many people just started to headcanon that he sees her as a mother figure
Charlie casually bribing Cherri will never not be funny
so true
So, one thing I think might be the case, regarding the masks. In the heaven Embassy, they have these gargoyle-esque statues coming out of the walls toward the back, but they're basically just exorcist angels. I think they're wearing those to look like gargoyles, since gargoyles on cathedrals were supposed to drive away evil spirits. That's just my own theory, though. So, no idea if that will be the canon reason!
I think someone implied Lute is named that way as Adam is to lazy to say lieutenant
LMAO wait that's so funny I hope that becomes canonized
Oh my god! I never picked that up and that just make me cackle even more!
A lute was also an old ancient stringed instrument and given how much Adam likes music, it can also double as a another take on the name

The thing about calling angel dust Anthony is that theres a reason he hasnt told everyone in the safest place he has yet, he's probably not comfortable with that idea.
Cause calling him by that name would probably feel like a huge invasion of privacy for him if he didnt tell ya.
And we already saw what ignoring his boundaries ended up making him feel like
I could see that being the case, if it was his choice, but his name and whether or not he can even talk about its specifics could be included in the contract

right? I think that's a really good plot point!
I feel when he's in the studio and around Valentino, he's Angel Dust. But when he's around Charlie and everyone else, he's Anthony
so real; I feel like Angel Dust being his stage name puts him in that showy "stuff the feelings down" mindset and everyone else referring to him as that got him stuck in the act. That is, of course, until Husk broke his walls down
I’m atheist but I love the fact that Emily fully believes in and champions her religions ideals
she is only angel who embraces/touches Charlie by taking her hand
She refers to the sinner souls in hell and the hell borne as people while Sera and others call them demons
and the righteous anger she expresses when she defies her mentor and stands with a demon side by side to call out the hypocrisy of Heaven and the exterminators
throwing their morality preaching back in their faces as corrupt and unjust
“If hell is forever, then Heaven must be a lie, if angels can do whatever, and remain in the sky, the laws are shady gray, when you don’t do as you say, when you make the wretched suffer only to kill them again”
brilliant.
I think Lilith, maybe glossed over history for Charlie about why the exterminations began. Might be they started after a singular Overlord got to Heaven and tried to harm someone, might be she was rallyinga rebellion.
that would match up with the "there's a lot that you dont know" lyric as well!
Charlie sleeps on a four poster bed, and you were correct to call them curtains.
thank you!! you're the first person to help me w this
I think there is some kind of information that being kept from Charlie.
Heaven being populated in majority by furries is perfect. XD
furries are honestly the sweetest and most accepting people (for the most part!! there's always exceptions)
one theory is that the reason souls in both heaven and hell look the way they do, is because their soul takes the form that suits them
so the reason so many hell sinners are monstrous or vile looking is to reflect their darkened souls
while heaven’s population embrace more hybrid animal and human looks.
I feel like the Exterminators wearing masks as well as Vaggie being an angel weren't originally intentioned, but the theories were so popular Vivzie probably just went "screw it" and made it cannon.
lmao, I mean, at least she didn't pull a Lost and change everything completely upon seeing interesting theories online
I remember seeing an old concept art post somewhere showing that it was a mask but I don’t know if that was official or not
the exorcist masks are meant to represent gargoyle faces, as gargoyles were believed to chase away evil
Adams never take this mask off, while most of the exterminators do
You know, Husk and Nifty have both been so good for Angel Dust's mental health, I have a mild suspicion that Alastor might have chosen them for that reason right from the start.
well here's two things I never thought I would say...

Emily is the most adorable little heavenly biscuit ever and must be protected at all costs! 💞😇💞
I completely agree!
I'm just... so used to being called blasphemous by super religious people that my brain immediately went there. also, yes, FINALLY someone else acknowledging the mistranslation for the verse that the entirety of the "gay = bad" mindset rests on
ooo I could totally see Val paying his entry fees via soul exchange :o
(also, thank you for the time stamps, they really help give me context to comments and not everyone does that)
The "uprising" they're talking about is mentioned by Charlie in her plot expo in episode 1.
15:06 that's Anthony's sister Molly, she's in heaven with her mom while Anthony's brother and dad are in hell

I have a theory that the extermination started because of Lilith and her empowering demons with her songs
So that means Adam still gets his freebie pas to exterminate as he pleases.
it’s both though
it’s a technicality but also a way to sweep everything under the rug
and stop the questioning of the rules and status quo
“If hell is forever, then maybe heaven is a lie.” I guess, in a sense, Charlie did get around to defining redemption after all. At the very least, that line goes so hard!
But yeah, this episode was crazy! Eager for the next one.

52:59 it’s implied at the beginning of the first episode that Lilith was trying to go against heaven by empowering Hell with her singing since they stated that they became more powerful because of it. Also also, I’m starting to believe that Adam was the one that convinced Sera that they needed to exterminate in the first place since you can see shots of Sera looking sad/guilty twice at the beginning of the UA-cam Didn’t Know song during Emily and Charlie’s parts

It's just perfect.

thank you so much, you're too kind Yess, their scene was so cute
Way I think of the Angel/Anthony thing... it's his choice and not anyone else's. The moment he calls himself that, I'm all aboard the Anthony train... maybe not the best way to word that last bit... lol
that's a very sweet way of thinking about it! (also wording )
8:19 That's the normal reaction if we encounter the daughter of the most famous fallen angel and look at him , he's too "clean" for swearing its just fun.
I was fully unprepared for it
Something was pointed out that I thought was interesting about Angel Dust.
I absolutely love the diversity in deliver that we get from Blake Roman! He does an excellent job of encapsulating Anthony's character
As one reactor said to this song.
Its like a dark souls boss, and it just gets more phases, and more badass! XD
that's a great way to describe it!
I'd like to think that I relate most with husker in the series since I work at a casino and used to have a alcohol problem for the last 10 years
"I swear to Satan's fiery knot" absolutely demolished me LMAO. I have never heard something so uniquely out of pocket like that, like i beg your FINEST pardon?? what the FUCK did you just say??? 🤣🤣
i said what i said
I wouldn’t say Lucifer tried to “stick it to the man” in either this or the old stories.
The contrast between Sera and Lucifer as leaders, Lucifer literally couldn't care less about the people he ruled basically giving up on anything but absolute bare minimum while Sera is willing to go to great lengths to do her job,
I get the impression not letting Lucifer help with the mortals was a call born out of many a ruined project because he got bored or quit halfway through,
14:54 that's Angel's sister btw.

Like literally yesterday my friend said to me "You shouldn't use that character because",

checks out!
I don’t think people understand Cherri Bomb’s character--
She’s an enabler because both she and Angel most likely used drugs/sex in order to get cope with their trauma (or any problems thrown to them)
This was always her character, we just didn’t see it completely but we do see a bit of it in the pilot.
*pentious
Good call on the second song giving strong Lin Manuel Miranda vibes, I thought the same thing. Love that style of shifting energy and arrangement.
ah, I'm so glad someone else got that vibe!
Also Cherry wouldn't have led them into Vee's territory either
oooo, I didn't know Missi Zilla (I think that's her name?) was the main club owning Overlord!!
One show that played on the characters wearing the same clothes all the time? Gravity Falls. The main characters play both side of the coin with Mabel not wearing the same sweaters each episode (someone different sweaters during the episode) and Dipper who wears the same thing and was even called out for it.
the LED mask thing has been cannon a long time, vivzie talked about the exorcists wearing them in the pilot too
Vivie confirmed that Angels sister Molly is in heaven so yes the spider lady is Molly
Imagine St. Peter's mind the moment Charlie (whom he assumes is a new arrival) declares that her dad got her that meeting.

11:14 "ANGEL FURRIES👹"
YEAHHHH 👹
You heard it here, folks! Heaven is perfectly fine with furries, and even deems them attractive! Suck it, government!!
"This court finds that there is no evidence that souls can be redeemed"
I think-
The thing that everyone might not consider is that it isnt that if they can't change, clearly angel has changed, but the fact of the matter is that they clearly have no say in if and when a soul is redeemed, angel's still in hell, still a demon, and not in heaven yet.
DAMN FAM!!! As always I have been entranced and rivited by your commentary!! 🩵🩵🩵🩵
That spider girl that you pointed out has been theorised to be Angel Dusts twin sister, Molly (:
Also, I'm also happy that the designs of the Winners (the living who died and went to heaven) are as diverse as the Sinners. It would be a missed opportunity on Viv's end to not flaunt her artstyle
St. Peter is your first indication that angels like Adam and Lute are NOT typical angels.
It's subtle, but it's there.
_St. Peter doublechecks and triplechecks the Book of Entry when he doesn't find Charlie's name._
St.
Sir Pentious is a cobra snake
The pink spider character that you pointed out was angel dust, sister named molly 😊
(that was subtitled ^^) but thank you for the fun fact!
Fun fact that spider lady from heaven is canonically Angel's sister Molly
Nice that there are some good angles in heaven like Emily and Lucifer not all angles are the same
I appreciate that diversity too! and it even seems like Sera has the best intentions at heart but has been misguided
Nevah: *moans*
Excuse me? 🤣🤣
Your Llyod and Lord Garmadon impression was amazingly and hilariously on point
Love you and your gremlin behavior ❤❤
