Fun fact: the Victorian aesthetic fits cannibal town pretty accurately because many Victorian era people did eat mummies as a delicacy! This is also why mummies are so rare today even though there use to be quite common.

One theory I heard of what Alastor's deal could be is so deliciously evil and in character for him: what if Alastor's deal is forgiveness? As in what if he seriously hurts or kills someone Charlie cares for and he calls in his deal, for Charlie to forgive him and not retaliate in any way or seek revenge. Then as he walks past Charlie he says in an evil mocking tone "it starts with sorry..." then walks away with a smile.
this is so scrumptiously awful, I love it
I think the favor may have something to do with Alastor's own deal that he is bound to. We don't know whose leash he is on, but he may believe Charlie can get him out of it.
People can learn a lot from this show. Even Charlie's prejudice getting shattered in cannibal town (even someone as sweet as Charlie had prejudice) with how nice it was.

I love that it wasn’t the fact that Vaggie was an angel that was Charlie’s hang up. It was just the fact that she didn’t tell her. And yeah, that’s fair.
Also, Vaggie’s soft delivery when her and Charlie make up and when she sees the others stayed to help fight is so precious. Stephanie Beatriz you marvel, I felt all the feelings.

Oh, there is so much carnal intent between these two throughout the whole series. Back in episode 4, for instance? “I, uh… think this is yours.” From Angel, followed immediately by Vaggie’s “OK little lady, let’s get *you* to bed…”
This show has a super unique ability to have characters be on screen for literally 5 minutes, and they're the most interesting character I've seen! Velvet, Carmilla, Rosie, Zestial, all of these characters have very little screen time in the grand scheme of things but you can't help but absolutely love each and every one of them!

Alastor: You noticed the creepy stitching, but did you consider that this is indicative of something? One theory I heard says that Alastor's "leash" is part of the issue: He is forced to smile by whomever owns him. Not sure how much credence I'd give to the theory, but... something to ponder.
The Victorian esthetic really fits the whole "musical prone" quality. The deziens of Cannibal Town feel like they walked off the set for Oklahoma!... after they ate the audience.

I love the idea that the "stitches" might be to keep him, as Anthony put it, "A big, creepy mystery." There's also the voodoo esthetic (Alastor voodoo dolls? Marketable? Damn right, I'd buy one!), the typical "green light of evil" thing that Disney does whenever a villain does something particularly plot-impacting, and the use of that music in the background that comes up every time Alastor taps into his Lovecraftian power.

He's kind of like the citizens of Wano on One Piece, after being exposed to SMILE. All he wants to do is be angry, sad or whatever...but Alastor can only smile and laugh
I always interpreted the stitches on his mouth to keep him from smiling too big, as those form of stitches are made to close things together. And when he made his deal with Charlie he was forced to contain his smile as much as he could.
Notice how Alastor responds, “A what now?” When Rosie called him an Ace and in the hole. Because the word Asexual wasn’t invented until some time between the 1980s and 1990s. Alastor canonically died in 1933, so it explains why he seems clueless to what Rosie said.

Umm, I’m pretty sure it’s in his-character, in cartoony vibes, and cartoons love to touch each other. Plus it’s an old-fashion friendly form of contact between friends. (Not ignoring the creepy imagery that shows up now and then either.) It’s his style and go-to. [Not to mention, some have theorised he’s placioromantic [which means he’s okay touching but not being the one touched] too.]
Don't know if it has been mentioned in the show but at this point, but apparently human souls that went to hell can't be killed except by the demon magic and angel weapons. They will always regenerate. I think it was mentioned once when the vees when the one model got torn apart. Velvette mentioned that they couldn't wait for her model to pull herself together. So the cannibals probably take turns with each other.
Its all fun and games in cannibal town until someone turns up with angelic dentures.

Its strange how the LEADER of canibal town seems to be the sweet, wise, and wholesome Iroh of hell...
First point: This is the first time I have seen or heard about the threads on Alastor. Maybe it has something to do with the deal that he made to sell his own soul, as well as his seven year disappearance. The threads around the mouth would indicate that it had been sewn shut, so it could be a sign that he literally cannot tell anyone about it even if he wanted to.
Second: Someone else pointed it out elsewhere, but I thought I would mention it here.
If you notice, Charlie finds and picks up the shrunken head keychain she gives to Vaggie BEFORE she talked to Rosie about how she was feeling. That implies that even while mad at and hurt by Vaggie's secrets, Charlie still cared enough to notice something she thought Vaggie might like.

@alexisdowers2030 It's a quick blink and you'll miss it scene. It happens shortly after Charlie and Alastor enter Rosie's for the first time. When shows them at the entrance as Rosie says, "Do my eyes deceive me?" it shows the two of them at the door. Alastor is standing and waving, while Charlie picks up the shrunken head keychain from a nearby counter.

To be honest, everyone called Vaggie being an angel in the Pilot.
The X on the eye, the spear that looked Angelic, and how she didn’t seem to be in Hell for any obvious reason.
Most of us that dismissed the idea (myself included) only did so because Vaggie was initially an actual sinner with a backstory already given to us.
This was later retconned at some point before the actual pilot came out, & Vivzie never gave us any confirmation that any of our old info was no longer valid.
And in all fairness, Vaggie is pretty much the sole exception, since all of the pre-pilot info is still consistent & Canon otherwise, so... yeah.

@H0r53f7y I actually think Lilith does have hooves, she just shapeshifts and hides it the same way she does her horns. To me it would make more sense, that when she became a demon, she got the goat horns and the hooves, as a punishment for defying the angels who created her, but she hates them, so she hides them to look more human.
Please just a quick request. Listen to out for love in the latin Spanish version. The voice actress for the English version is the same in latin Spanish and her singing in Spanish just hits in such a way. That my body shivers when she sings. She’s so good.

I suspect if Charlie gets into the throne, something happens to Lucifer she will have more power to fufull whatever request Alastor may have. I do think it has to do with his deal or that he would be put in charge of something important.

I think both could be true! Similar to how Sera had the best intentions but still became a villain, Lilith could be seeking to better or "toughen up" Charlie when in reality she's just being a shitty, villainous parent :o

I think when Charlie is talking to Alastor at the beginning of this episode is the first time we get to see her cute little hoof feet.
On the recent Hazbin Live Q&A they asked Amir about a certain hashtag that's been going around on Twitter and Tumblr. Apparently someone had asked him why Alastor acts so flamboyant even though he's asexual, Amir replied "You don't have to fuck to be fab," and the phrase just took off from there.

I know the main Steven Universe comparison during the training sequence is "Do it For Him", and rightly so, but am I the only one getting some Garnet vibes from Carmilla?
I think a big difference between the situation in SU and HH is Carmilla was literally defending her daughters. Ive noticed a lot of young reactors talking about how romantic feelings and that mindset isn’t good (fair enough) but they very clearly don’t have children saying someone shouldn’t feel that about their kids or family is kinda fucked. Holding your child for the first time is unlike anything else. I’d absolutely fight and die for them any day it came to.
Honestly, I wasn't even getting into the negative parts of the song mentioned, I just meant a similar feel in general, like with sequence structure. Even as someone without kids, I still agree with you
Hey Evol, I don’t know if you noticed this in episode 5. After Lucifer hugs Vaggie, he looks about Vaggies head looking for a Halo. I think Lucifer knows that she is an Angel, you may think he is looking at Charlie, but she is in a different position. So maybe Lucifer is respecting Vaggies privacy of her being an Angel.
You got everything right but the deer part. The original mythos on a Windingo they look nothing like a deer. Supernatural actually got the look of them right and also Until Dawn. The whole deer thing got added by Hollywood.
Also Alastor was a canabal and a cereal killer when he was alive.

I've got a few things to say about this episode:
First off, I get where you're coming from with Carmilla in this episode. Carmilla with her hair down is the most i've ever been attracted to an animated character.
Speaking of Carmilla, something I think people don't appreciate enough about her is that she didn't know angelic weapons could harm angels until it happened, meaning that she was fully prepared to sacrifice herself in the hopes of buying her daughters enough time to escape.
Lastly, Vaggie's wings are different than they were before she lost them. Originally, they were identical to the other exorcists' wings, but now she's missing the characteristic harsh black stripes and the top/back of her wings is a smooth grey gradient instead of solid black. Symbolism.
Too lazy to look back on it for fact checking, but I believe someone mentioned in the pilot, during Alastor's song, he dresses Vaggie up like Susan, so that's a thing to acknowledge.

Your reactions had me both laughing and crying, because I knew how you would react but no matter how much I mentally prepared it was still perfectly aimed at my emotionally damaged psyche, still loved though Nevaeh, no spoilers but the final will have you feeling emotionally drained with some good and some bad
I really loved this episode, there is something I always like to point out and its the heavy importance of Alastors words when the deal was made, for starters, he only said "...where YOU hurt no one" that means HE can do so, it's such a small detail but as important as any other... Also I'd like to point out, Alastors eyes when the whole "Deal with Souls" is on the table, if you look closely he looks the other way, faking the fact that maybe he really want them but somehow can't so he tries to hide it
(Also, sorry if there is some mistakes at my writting, I'm not a Native English Speaker ^^U)
I also interpreted it similar to you, but the way he worded the deal also could mean that if the favor that Charlie is forced to do for Alastor puts someone that she cares about in danger, and if Charlie would have to harm someone to help them, she physically can't. "Where you harm no one" can be interpreted as Alastor saying she's not ALLOWED to hurt anyone

First off, I LOVE Rosie; she's like the wise aunt or grandmother you look to for advice. But at the same time, I REALLY LOVE CARMILLA! While Rosie's like a grandmother/aunt for Charlie, Carmilla is like the firm yet fair mother figure for Vaggie.
Secondly, I feel like Carmilla drove so many people nuts with her singing performance; be they straight or LGBT (looking at you Not-So Average Fangirl, Morgan Terry and Wee Lass Reacts.)
Third, I continue to question why Charlie trusted Alastor in the first place; if she knew he never cared about her cause

Charlie shouldn't have needed to make a deal with Alastor to find out angels can be harmed. The moment she found out Vaggie is an angel should have been all the evidence she needed. Because Vaggie's eye was gouged out by an angelic weapon, she's living proof that angels are in fact destructible. And speaking of Vaggie, her not knowing angels can be harmed is a massive plot hole. Sure, some people say that she just didn't know that demons could use angelic weapons to kill angels. But honestly, that's a really big stretch, and is not supported by any shown evidence. Demons have been shown to be able to use angelic weapons to do things that would normally be attributed to angels themselves. Like when Striker was going to use an angelic weapon to kill Stolas, a royal demon. It's like putting a gun into a monkey's hand, the gun can still kill. It doesn't matter who's holding it. If Vaggie had stayed a sinner, like she originally was, her not knowing angels are vulnerable to their own weapons would have made sense, as she'd be in just as much the dark as everyone else in hell. Also, why would Vaggie having an X across her eye be indicative of her being an angel? Plenty of demons have X's across their eyes, like Cherri.
Great depression majority I'm guessing with some Industrial revolution Europe a few times in history where cannibalism struck a hefty percentage of the population in more recent times then you could go back to like certain tribal peoples of Africa and South America might make up a chunk but it's gonna be great depression with rosie and she's the mayor of the town and has that great depression vibes
So this episode made me notice a problem I have with this show and that is that Charlie and Vaggie have been together for 3 years, until this episode I had assumed they got together fairly recently before the start of the series because until episode 5 the most affectionate they were with each other was Vaggie calling Charlie babe once in episode 2, I assumed this was just a me thing though but then 5 of my friends watched the show(none of whom had seen the pilot or knew much about the show) and all of them thought they got together in the 4-5 month timeskip between episodes 4 and 5, the closest any of them came to thinking they were together was the lebian of the group who was shipping them but even then she thought they were just friends at the moment. Its not a big problem and it doesnt ruin anything for me its just something I found strange. The weirdest part for me was the massive difference between the first half and second half of the season with how affectionate they are with each other cause of course every couple is different so at first I thought they were just a couple that didnt like PDA but then in the second half they are just being so obviously coupley it just felt like something about their relationship changed in those 4ish months. I kind of wonder if initially they were going to take advantage of the Pilot being only sort of canon to have them get together in the show itself around episode 4 but then for what ever reason that idea got scrapped but they didnt change how they interacted with eachother before that point

The Wendigo’s original lore have nothing to do with deer, they’re closer to just primal, skeletal, lanky, flesh-craving humans. Similar to how SCP-096 (if you know what that is) looks.

I think ep7 is my fave ep (followed by 5, 3, & 2), so I have lots of thoughts this time:
-I like 1:30 not only b/c of Niffty being Niffty, but also b/c of Vaggie being relatively gentle w/her. Remember how threatening/violent Vaggie was w/everyone except Charlie (especially in eps2-4)?
-In ref to 3:05, I'd argue the same goes for her face at 23:30 ;)

The thing that i feel like most people arent getting about the arc with carmine, and how the angels are vulnerable to angelic steel is that Carmine wasnt the only person to fight back, but she was the only one to win because of two conditions:
1. Is obviously because she has the angelic steel, and it can only be found when angels accidentally drop their weapons or flakes of it falling off their blades.
2. She was out for love. Supposedly angels are just generally more powerful than sinners, and cant be harmed via normal means. Fighting for something other than themselves and a deep desire to protect gives them the strength to overpower an angel in the moment.
Youll understand in episode 8, which i will comment in and will not spoil here.
I feel like that was pretty apparent in the episode, personally. If you're referring to my comment about how you should live for yourself, not other people, I meant when it comes to life in general, not in a situation where you're literally in a battle. Being driven by the passion of love will absolutely make you fight harder
@@NevaehEvol no i was refering to other people trying to say that it was a plot hole about how easy it was to kill angels. Though there are some major errors that i feel like should be ignored, however that is for episode 8 and i will say no more.

Damn as a nonbinary lesbian this episode absolutely SERVES! Also, if anyone ever wants good queer representation of hell and a kind afterlife (respectful of all religions and SO much healing from religious trauma) Hell’s Belles on TikTok is super great! Like legit, the demons’ biggest thing is consent and boundaries , and hell is a place of justice and mercy. and the majority of plot takes place at the customer service desk by the front gates of hell. It’s really fun and my current hyperfixation that really adds a sweet contrast to the hazbin universe. The full show isn’t fully on UA-cam yet, but a bunch of episodes have been taken down lately, so the creator is planning on getting the rest put together and uploaded. So TikTok. But as a demon yourself I hope you’d enjoy the way they get portrayed
As far as I know Alastor was an active cannibal while he lived. So not just a simple inspiration for his looks, besides he looks like a deer because he was shot by a hunter in the forest who thought he was a deer.

I too think that Charlie accepted that deal a bit too easy here. Like, plotwise, writingwise. She called him an asshole and called him out on enjoying everyone's suffering just before, and he says "what's a favour between friends?" that is quiet hypocritical there, given how a friend would just freaking TELL WHAT THEY KNOW, without the need of a deal to be made... Charlie is upset that Vaggie did not tell her her secret, but does not care that Alastor could have talked about this a long ago, a huge detail that can help her, and he kept it in secret. SHe could have just demanded him to tell it!

Would the cannibal kid be “older”? I didn’t think Sinner Demons aged. I just assumed he died as a child cannibal and now was that eternally.
I believe that the Cannibals of Cannibal Town are Hell-born, i mean it makes sense, they look, act and dress alike which is very uncommon for Sinners to be so extremely similar, considering all people who go hell have their looks determined by the way they lived, looked like and died and i doubt thousands to millions of people look exactly the same, lived the same life and died the same way
