I agree on your #1 choice. I wear the Aliengear CloakTuck 3.5 and forget im wearing it all the time. I was outside just yesterday and bent over to pick up a rock to remove from my patio and had to think if i was wearing my holster or not..reached around to make sure it was still there. That's how comfortable it is.

Great rundown! I just want to add that you don't need to buy the whole Aliengear starter set for $100, you can just buy the shell and piece you want without needing to get what you don't.

Very good video. A few years back, I purchased the MP Shield and got the Alien Gear Shapeshifter holster and love it. The padding on the back without any screw posts is the way to go. I love the fact that it is toolless also. A few days ago, I purchased the Hellcat and now all I have to do is buy the shell for the Hellcat and slap it on my existing base and I’m good to go.
AlienGear has a customer for life. The price, comfort and Gun Expansion system is amazing for me. The quality is there for sure.

Personally alien Gear make the best holsters, you have to tell them the exact model you intend to carry because they injection mold the holster so that it fits your gun like a glove and secures it, they are completely comfortable, Affordable and durable enough to last a lifetime! I bought mine for my Springfield Defender XD Subcompact 9mm for $59. I highly recommend them!!!
P.S. I’m not paid to say this, I just love the product!

I agree with you on Alien gear. I have many holsters but when I carry Inside the waist I go to a alien gear vary comfortable . Plus the customer service is second to none for me at least. I got shells free for lights that came out before the shell was made. If it takes more than a week to ship it’s free.. That’s what they did for me anyway. Plus the free shell change is great.

I don’t even have a gun but I got a couple questions hopefully someone with experience can answer
    1. Is it comfortable to walk and sit with this? Can you run or perform certain athletic movements?
    2. Can you draw when you’re sitting?
    3. For the front carry, how do you pee at a urinal? Do you have to take the holster out?
    4. Concealment looks very neat when wearing multiple layers, what about warm weather with only a shit on? Does it conceal it well?
    5. Can you wear them with no belt?

joe po I’ve seen it before! I thought it was amazing and a must have if I ever end up buying a gun. But, active self protection review had a great point, when you are about to draw you can’t grip the gun perfectly since it kind of presses against the fabric, so you kind of have to take it out of the holster and then get a better grip to shoot. My only concern before watching this review was that I’m a lean guy and wear shorts a lot (warm weather, thin shorts) and I don’t think it would conceal it good enough

I carry a full size tactical Springfield 5" barrel in Crossbreed Supertuck in the 3 o'clock position. It conceals well, I can sit, drive in comfort. I feel like it is in more control than 4/5 o'clock, and not aimed at my femoral artery like the appendix. I'm surprised I don't ever see any clips using this position.

Very good breakdown! However, as a more robust kind of guy, aka: "fatter white guy", appendix carry is not my favorite. My Son on the other hand is a skinny Asian guy and he carries only in the appendix style. We both live in California where it is extremely difficult to be approved for a CCW, so both of us take great pride and safety in everything we do. Great job, keep up the good work!

Hey Chad I agree. Like many people I have a draw full of holsters and see the merits of many. Best kydex have been from Vedder. Some leather holsters have good comfort but always lack somewhere else (poor retention, sweaty, whatever). My Alien Gear 4.0 is the one I always go back to as well. Works for 3 of my guns with a 10 second shell swap and gives me iwb, owb, and shoulder holster options for any given day or activity. Very innovative system. Less bulky than it looks on camera too. People who knock it haven't tried it. I use it for everything from subcompact to full size 10mm.

Black Arch holsters are good, they are the most comfortable holster I've worn to date (been carrying everyday for 15 years). However 2 major issue, the screws holding the belt clips needs to be tightened weekly, and they do not make any light compatible holsters. That's why I went to Stealth Gear USA.

Aliengear is definitely good for person new to concealed carry, they are very comfortable but I would not recommend that shape shift line. It is bulky and the whole thing is held together with only small plastic lugs. Their cloak line is much better, just not modular, and less bulky. I have a few alien gear holsters and I love them for compact guns but for larger compacts like sig 320 or glock 19. I would go with full kydex.

Thanks for the great review. I have been an Alien Gear holster user for years. I have two sized backers (small and large) and a shell for each gun I own. My guns range from the micro P365 all the way to a 1911 commander. My Alien Gear system is fantastic. It is comfortable enough to wear any carry gun all day and I forget that I even have a gun on my hip. I prefer to carry around the 3:30 to 4 o'clock position. I haven't tried the new system yet as my existing shells are not compatible with the new system. I recommend Alien Gear for their quality, durability, and their customer service is the best. Thanks again for the great review.

I recommend checking out a company called Atlas 46. They make military grade modular construction tool belts, vests, and accessories. Quite a few of their pouchs and holsters work very well when used with firearms, they also make some very nice Magnet pannels which have varying pounds of pull strength. When i first was ordering pouches, holsters and pannels to set up my tool belt I experimented with firearm belts, pulls and hostler setups. The hammer and drill holsters work very nicely for guns and the magnetic pannels work very well also. I was able to just clip a couple magnets to my regular casual belt and they were able to hold my 1911 and FNX45 while jumping and running with no issue and have a really nice feel. They just gave out with even stronger magnets that can hold a sledgehammer so carrying a primary rifle on chest or back would work perfectly. All their stuff is mollie compatible. They have pouches to fit just about anything, magazines and survival supplies would be very easy to set up.

The best and only holster I own is the Alien Gear Shapeshift! I carry almost every day with my Glock 43 using the smaller appendix holster, and it is so comfortable.
Also, I completely agree on the comfort thing. I unfortunately had an incident a few days ago when I was visiting my parents, and someone mistakenly thought that "their girl" was at the next door neighbor's house. We were sitting in the basement watching a movie when we heard the gunfire. I immediately drew and chambered a round (I know, I'm still getting comfortable with the idea of carrying a loaded weapon pointed at my crotch). Less than a minute later, they messaged everyone in the neighborhood group chat (it's a close knit neighborhood) telling everyone to lock their doors, and that someone had started shooting the neighbor. We made sure all the doors were locked, called the police and waited the 35 minutes it took for them to arrive. Luckily, everyone was okay. The police response time was unsettling though.
It's the kinda stuff you hear about, but you don't think can happen to anyone you know. I usually leave my firearm in the car, I mean.... you don't need it when you're visiting family. I just forgot I had it. Luckily we didn't need it, but it was comforting to have.

      1) Someone breaks into your car and steals your gun. Bad.
      2) Someone steals your car, car and gun gone! Worse.
      3) Criminals often work in teams of 2 or more guys. They will kick in your door using a Saturday night special to intimidate and hoping to paralyze you with fear. Keep your gun hot and ready to go! It's too late and obvious to rack your slide after the threat shows his hand. Wait your turn to get your gun in the fight. Wait for a distraction.
      4) A good holster, preferably kydex that completely covers the trigger guard is the added safety on striker fired guns. It ain't going off in your pants! Not until you draw that gun and press the trigger back with about 5 lbs of pressure.
      5) I've sat in many of my relatives and friends living rooms and they don't know that I'm even carrying. I don't talk about it I just do it.
      6) Carry your gun, carry it hot even in seemly friendly spaces. A threat can appear in a instant anywhere and your gun just might be necessary to protect you and your loved ones.

It’s been a while since I have been to your channel. Great content as always. You do an excellent job at providing great detail and allow us to take away what works best for our circumstances. I have to say that 125 dollars for a Last Line of Defense holster is not a good price. It’s a fantastic price for a top quality customized holster for your specific pistol.

That’s basically what you’d pay for a Tier1 holster and that’s basically the gold standard for appendix.

Forgot probably the best holster ever made The Tier 1 Axis Slim. And also I like alien gear and all the features but last I checked they only make them for guns without lights, optics, etc. So that's the reason I didn't go with them. But my Tier 1 is amazing.

I can't believe I'm saying this and I will catch endless flak for it. But I have tried a lot of holsters and keep going back to Uncle Mikes #5 IWB with retention strap. It's comfortable and it works for me. And it can be had for 12 bucks.

If it's a safe holster and you train with it to make it work for you, rock with it. If someone gives you shit over it, challenge them to a range day and see who can draw and get a shot on target faster.

I have dozens of holsters that vary in brand like tier 1, trexarms, bladetech, etc. but I find myself running a vedder light tuck 95% of the time, appendix always.

I have been looking into vedder. Could u tell me if you like to carry it with the claw or not. Also, is the kydex without leather comfortable?

I’ve carried almost every day for 38 years. Four years ago I found Sticky Holsters. They are hands down best holster I’ve ever owned. I carry AIWB and inside waist band. Comfortable. Durable. Gun never ever moves and it slides out like butter when you need it. I’ll never buy any other kind. Just my opinion

  • @MarkBadia

Most of the holsters you were recommending are hybrids and from all the other videos I have seen hybrids are not as secure as a full kydex holster as you can get your finger between the leather and kydex. I understand the comfort focus, but securing your gun has to be paramount.

The new aliengear has a full trigger guard and has optional level 2 retention if you want.

If you're carrying IWB, it's plenty secure. It's with OWB duty holsters and such where you may want the extra security. However unless you're a cop or a soldier, are you really expecting to be crawling through the mud or wrestling with another guy for your gun that this level of security is of a serious concern? For the vast majority of private citizens, not really a relevant concern. The added comfort of the hybrid holster however makes it more likely that most people will carry more often.

I appreciate your honest opinion. I tried out a few different concealed holsters at the gun shop, including the crossbreed and alien gear ones, and I personally liked the fit of the alien gear the best. I was on the fence on which one to buy for my Glock 17 but after watching your video, I’m going with the alien gear set. Their multi-carry options make it very attractive for the price too.

I've only ever owned aliengear holsters. P220, 226 229, hk vp9sk, walther ccp, among others. Unfortunately they dont make the shape shift for the p320 x-compact. And even if they did it does not accommodate for rmrs. So now I'm stuck trying to find a holster for it

I tried appendix kydex holster, hated it, got the reckoning by crossbreed, it was nice but I traded my p365 for p365xl and had to get a new holster, I went with stealthgear minituck, love it! Comfy and like it more than the reckoning. I have t tried alien gear but ultimately seemed bulky and clunky. There is my 2 cents

I like the sencond holster cause the back clip really helps pull the grip into your body and print so much less. The only issue I run into is so many companies don't make a holster for my EDC and some companies I can find make one for a similar model but I want one form fitted to my model even though the model is pretty much exact it's not exact

if you look over at your gun in its holster and you think "uuuugh I dont want to put it on today" its time to replace your holster. completely agree comfortable over everything for concealed. doesn't matter how great it is if you won't wear it

I’m disabled, overweight and get around on s 4 wheeled mobility scooter. The only system that I find that works for me is a shoulder holster. I know it isn’t in the top 25 but it’s what I have to use.

I found that Crossbreed Reckoning holds my G19 Grip tightest to my side (strong side) than any of the others displayed here due to the CLAW not shown here. I’ve also run the Alien Gear 3.5 and the 4.0 hybrid configuration. However, I find the 4.0 a little BULKY and placement is a large factor even thu this is the best secure holster (polymer not kydex) and it’s retention adjustment of the holsters talked about. Although I like the AG 3.5 and 4.0 I find that I have to be aware of my G19 grip. With the CB-Reckoning it’s double clip holds my chant with my twists and bends that a single clip can not. Good video.

Hawgholster best kydex holster out there. The thin steel clip that clips to your pants r belt is the ticket and it won’t come off unless u take it off, Plastic clips r junk.

Love the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck. Bought the the new starter kit that's shown on the video and sent it back after 2 days. The retention devices didn't work, the paddle stuck out way too far and when drawing the holster came with the firearm. It feels cheap.

Very helpful, thanks! I won’t mention the name because they seem like great people, but I’ve been looking at a light flexible Kydex shell holster with an ulti clip. But the thing is sometimes I’m going to be wearing the back of the holster against my skin (at 4:00) when I only have a t-shirt covering it. With this other I’d need to put the IWB against a shirt then a cover garment over that. I don’t think plain Kydex against bare skin would be comfortable all day. They all look good, but I don’t see me sitting down with an appendix style holstered pistol, so will check out the Alien Gear. Thanks again!
