The ShapeShift Starter Kit is the foundation of the ShapeShift Modular Holster System, and includes everything you need to carry in four distinct ways. In just a few quick steps, quickly transform the ShapeShift into an IWB holster, appendix carry holster, OWB belt slide, and OWB paddle holster. The Starter Kit also includes a bonus Holster Mount, so you can attach your ShapeShift to a variety of surfaces in seconds.
This Modular Holster System went through two years of development, and each holster method is unsurpassed in comfort and concealability. For those looking to carry concealed, the ShapeShift IWB Holster is comfortable and ultra-concealable. A stainless-steel core gives structural support to the holster, while a soft CoolVent neoprene base maintains essential comfort. The shell of the modular holster attaches to the base with a single mounting point, which eliminates printing and makes the holster bend against the body even better.
Appendix carry has never been safer and more well-designed than with the ShapeShift Appendix Carry Holster. This holster is an upgrade from other appendix carry options because of the single mounting feature that improves concealability, and a breathable neoprene backer that makes carrying AIWB natural. The holster shell fully covers the trigger guard and includes an optional thumb release.
The all-new ShapeShift OWB Paddle Holster is the next evolution of outside the waistband carry. With its customizable design, this modular holster can be equipped with adjustable active retention, passive retention, or both. An ergonomic thumb release, included in every Starter Kit, gives you the option to carry using active retention. The Adjustable Retention Unit allows you to customize your passive retention in seconds. To achieve the perfect draw angle, the ShapeShift OWB Paddle Holster is equipped with adjustable 360 degree cant and can be tilted in 12-degree increments.
For those looking for the handiness that comes with a belt slide holster, Alien Gear stepped it up with the ShapeShift OWB Slide Holster. One of the main complaints about other belt slide holsters is wobbliness when holstering or drawing the firearm that leads to unreliability. The ShapeShift OWB Slide is made of the same sturdy material as the ShapeShift OWB Paddle, so there will be no instability or wearing down, only consistency from the first draw to the last.
All holsters are made with the best and most durable materials, and Alien Gear Holsters backs this promise with a Forever Warranty and a 30-Day Test Drive. Made in America, unique to the planet.

For a female's perspective, see Kim's review of the ShapeShift ua-cam.com/video/7qz418UOBPQ/v-deo.html
surviving susan Yes, they are worth it. 👍
There's a chick with a gun. Good enough for me :D
Are you able to make the OWB belt slide configuration into a level II retention?
Thank you!!! I haven't seen too many women review it. I'm shorter than the average female, so I was wondering how big the specs would be compared to me.
Thanks for reviewing the ShapeShift, we're glad you like it! Very thorough review and great video!
Alien Gear Holsters Thanks great product!
Geauga Firearms Academy were you paid for this review? im strongly considering the holster, however you didn't seem to have anything bad to say about it. wondering if it's cause you got paid, or cause it's just a phenomenal holster.
I have the older 3.0 and it is great. Moving up to this set up would be even better, I imagine he thinks it's just that good. However everyone has their own preference and what might be great for some, might be mediocre for others.
I use AlienGear holsters solely because of this channel, so it's well deserved sir, enjoy your spoils Neil!
S James I have the holster as well and I love it. It really isn't as bulky as it looks but it was a little confusing trying to switch between each type of carry at first.
Those Alien Gear guys definitely played with Lego's as kids.
Keith Brookshire Lol! Thanks for watching
Keith Brookshire and they still haven't figured out how they work....

Makes sense
Was unsure which position i would prefer when i started conceal carrying. Like that this kit gives you the three most common options in one box (iwb, owb, appendix) plus the convenient owb paddle for quicker removal. Saved me buying four different holsters, and i only have to buy the shell for a different gun to use on the same system.
Just ordered the OWB belt kit for my IWB Alien ShapeShift. Didn’t realize how easy this switch is. Well done!
I got my Shape Shift kit last week and wish I had found this video back then. Really great work with this tutorial.
Joseph Chicorelli thank you, glad it's helpful
This system is very well designed, every component is a real masterpiece. There is absolutely nothing on market that can be compared to this holster set. To quote Steve Jobs: “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. The design is how it works.” This holster in every configuration is absolute perfection. I wish I could write well to express my finding and my judgment as an experienced mechanical design engineer when examined every component that came in a beautiful package. Proudly made here in the United States, but sold for a very affordable price. Another proof of excellence. Congratulations to the team.
I was really unsure about this holster until I saw this video. This is the one I’m gonna get. Alien Gear made a good choice sending it to you.
Sold....ordering mine today.....this video really helped as I'm shopping for different holsters (CC, Range.....etc)....this literally solved all the questions. awesome videos, Keep them Coming!!!!!
Thanks for watching, glad you found it helpful.
If I'm just planning on carrying IWB at the 4 o'clock position, is it worth buying the full starter kit or should I just get the 4.0IWB?
Maurice Tucker it’s been 2 years how is it
Great review. I’m sold and this goes on my Christmas list. Around 16 minutes into the video you mention storing your pistol above the door frame where “kids can’t get at it.” Kids can get at anything! If you have children at home or frequently visiting grandchildren you must store your pistol in a steel lockable gun container by the time youngsters can walk or sometimes even crawl. I keep my pistol in a magnetically locked bedside drawer but even so when kids come to visit .... into the safe it goes. Thanks for your detailed presentation. Now I think the Alien Gear Core Kit is the way to go. MikeinMinnesota
I have the Aliengear Shape-shift & so far, I love it. Like most people, I never go anywhere without my firearm and I've been using this holster daily. The OWB slide works great for me & conceals my Glock 19. ( Which is soon to be replaced with the XDM) & all I need is the shell & there's no need to get another holster. I'm not a competition shooter & only train self defense so for me this setup is great. Awesome review.
Angie Lampley Thanks! 👍
Really like how it doesn’t rely on the backing for retention and you get the retention of an all kydex holster with the comfort of a hybrid. My question is how much thicker overall is it compared to previous models?
My shape shift came in today and I love it. Been wearing it all day much thinner than my old leather holster. Alien gear did a awesome job on the whole system. Easy to put together and adjust
On the website Alien Gear advertises lifetime warranty. The backing on mine has broken down making it very uncomfortable. Alien Gear will replace it-for $14 because the backing is not made anymore and the current version is considered an upgrade. This is not my definition of a lifetime warranty.
As a small business owner it makes sense because they don’t make it anymore . Don’t be so hard it’s $14.. is that cheaper than if I went and bought it off the street? Or will they sell you the upgrades version for a discount? If so I think it’s fair
@@oxysz That's not the point. You are giving someone the wrong impression of lifetime warranty.
@@imstuner I spend $14 at fucking McDonald's. It's not a big deal
Integrity in an American Company is key. I’ve eaten product cost to get keep customers happy. Will do so again. Those customers end up developing a trust in our relationship and they end up coming back over and over. Customers will spend their money when they trust the product or company.
Reading others replies. I see they have to actually upgrade you. If the upgrade cost is say is over the $14. Then that’s pretty fair imho.
I am a first-time gun owner looking for a holster. This video sold me for the price of one high-end holster i can basically have 4 holsters for all situations and ones i didn't even think of yet. Thanks a ton
Great review guys! I wear my alien gear everyday and its by far my favorite iwb holster. But this is really the best of ALL worlds. Thanks guys. I'm getting one tonight.
Steel Punisher 69 glad you like it! Always great to hear from you 👍
I just received Shape Shift for my M&P 40. Watching this video helped me set up my IWB system. Thank you
Jerry Edwards glad to help. Thank you for watching and commenting
I do watch your videos but don't comment on most of them. But felt like I had to let you know this is a good instructional video
This is my first video of yalls to see and I've watched about 10 other videos since seeing this one. I'm came back to this video to write this comment. Y'all earned a subscriber due to the thoroughness and truthfulness y'all exemplify in your videos. Excellent channel. Keep on keeping on.
Jesse S thank you! We appreciate you watching. Thanks for the sub
Just purchased a new EDC pistol recently and went hunting for a good holster system for it. My son told me about AlienGear, so I checked his system out and I really liked it. Also AlienGear Company is a local company where I live and I like the idea of supporting a local company. So I ordered the AlienGear Shapeshift 4.0 Kit system for my new EDC and I love it. For the money and quality you can't get any better than AlienGear. I would recommend AlienGear to anyone looking for a great holster system. This was a great review on the AlienGear holster system.
Thank you SO MUCH for this!!! I’ve been looking for a detailed review. I think I will buy now haha
Thanks for the video and all your instructions. I just purchased the ALIENGEAR
4.0 IWB Holster for my Taurus G2C.
I previously purchased another manufacturer's IWB Hybrid Tuck Holster that works relatively well. The shell on their holster is not supported as well. The shell collapses when you try to reholster. I have some ideas on how they can modify the other manufacturer can modify and improve their IWB Hybrid Tuck Holster, but that would increase their cost. The price on the ALIENGEAR 4.0 IWB Holster was slightly more than what I paid for the other IWB holster.
It took a few tries to learn how to adjust the retention on the 4.0 IWB Holster. The Retention System uses a spare Lock Nut to adjust the tension on the firearm. You place the square end of the Lock Nut into the Retention System with the Square Hole You can increase or decrease the tension depending on which way you turn to the Square Hole.
It may take several turns to adjust to your desired retention. ALIENGEAR recommends trying your IWB Holster out of the box with your gun to test the factory set retention and then adjust from there. I may go back and purchase some of the expansion items.
Please remind your viewers that ALIENGEAR has a '30 day Buy and Try "program. They also offer an excellent warranty. I am filling mine out once I post this message.
i dunno... just feel like it does everything decent but nothing awesome.. such is life if you can do a lot of things.
the appendix rig is not good, way thicker than it needs to be and no claw.. its like a kydex holster with a pad in the back and wrap around clip?
IWB is also thicker than it needs to be.. also like a kydex holster with a pad
i think the OWB options, level 2 retention, and boltable mount are the best and are great ideas. kinda like a safarliand QLS but a little worse haha.
thats what this system is haha, its a safariland QLS system with pads for IWB. really great of them for thinking outside the box though... and they pack an incredible value, jeez
Great video, great way to break down the shapeshift system. Just bought one and this is the best video that describes what your getting. Thank you for your time.
the extra clips S J C DO NOT COME WITH IT you have to buy them. being you got the kit for FREE they gave them to you FREE. each clip set is $8
No, all the clips come for $8 when I just checked rn
Thank you for this info
I personally want to say thankyou for this video. I'm a skinny fellow with a c.w.p. here in South Carolina. I've been looking for a better choice of concealed carry holster. I have looked at all the Alien Gear Holsters that apply to my Walther PPS M2 Law Enforcement edition 9mm (I carried open carry for over 18 years as an Armed Security Officer). Upon watching this video, I didn't have a good idea of how the system worked. Now I feel more confident to make the purchase for the Shape Shift Core Kit. Again many thanks to you.
I just ordered the kit and was looking for some information on all the use's.
You covered everything, Awesome job.
Alien Gear Owe's you a kickback ......
Keep America Great..........
Thank you! This is above all the the most thorough review on a holster I have ever viewed. A while back I purchased a Blackhawk leather holster for my 92 Beretta and I hate how it snags as I practice a quick draw. I will indeed be purchasing two of these Alian Holsters for left and right applications!
I heard that there were knock-offs being produced in South America. That's right, there are Illegal Alien Gear crossing our southern border. Great review, ordering mine today.
Texflix lol! Thanks for watching
Where I get cheaper knock-off ?
I just got mine yesterday and I love it!! Great system with a lot of versatility. I will say though that they didn’t send me all those manuals but fortunately there are plenty of great videos like this to show you how to set it up.
Have a 3 point 0 aliengear and it has been awesome.. Now I will have to get this kit.. It looks like everything I want.. They really put a lot of R and D into this.. AR-15 of holsters IMO..
Larry W seems like they did. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Got my kit today. I've tried several OWB Holsters. Both high quality leather and hand made Kydex. None of them fit my frame correctly to keep from printing. I tried the OWB option in the kit. It was better, but still printed. I didn't think IWB would be comfortable. I pieced together the appendix carry option. Actually quite comfortable and easy to access. Also no printing. I will try to other IWB option later.
Neil, thanks as usual for all the great content!
Luis Francis thanks for your support
I just got one of these shapeshift 4.0 iwb holsters for my Springfield Hellcat OSP and I've been using it for the past couple days since I got it and I'm already loving it. Thanks for the very comprehensive review of this, this helped me quite a bit better to understand this holster system then most other reviews I have watched. Thank you 🙂
As soon as it's available for CZ P07 I'll be placing an order.
I would definitely be sold on this, but the only issue is for people who have attachments on their handguns. For example the Viridian X5L. Some holsters have the ECR feature so thats very helpful that they have holster that fit comfortably, have great retention, and have ECR
Alien Gear has been getting some bad rep from the Texas concealed carry group, and I don't know why. I have the 3.0, and it's great. Now, after seeing this, I fail to see how anyone can bash on AG.
Really well done review.
Matthew Brown thank you! 👍
Well, I don't live in Texas....So, who cares what 3 guys said, that they didn't like it. "Opinions Vary!"
It sad. It's like legos for adults. No real craftsmanship.
RUFFIANO INTERNATIONAL is there any specifics you can offer?
@@richlabombard6780 apparently not lol
I received my starter kit and was showing my brother the inside the waist slightly forward of my back pocket. It was absolutely concealed. He just carries his small .380 in his front pocket as he said he couldn't get used to a holster. I told him that he needs to try this one. I forget I have it on.
As we were sitting at the dinning room table I said say someone kicked in the front door.
I drew my Glock 19 from my holster and and pointed it at the door. (It was unloaded with the magazine out) and he mentioned wow you drew that fast and your sitting down.
I then realized that it can be drawn sitting down.
i haven't heard anyone mention this in any video that I have watched.
I love this holster.
Great review! I've been looking for a holster for my Shield and didn't feel comfortable with the 2.0 holster. I'm glad I waited because I was going to get an IWB, OWB, and mount. This will allow me to experiment with clothing and position options. I'd like to know how well the KORE belts work with this.
However, the constant zooming in/out was distracting from what you were saying and a disorienting.
It works very well with the KORE belt. The new one I am wearing in this video is now on kickstarter www.kickstarter.com/projects/1115468767/the-ultimate-belt Thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks! I was looking at getting an X3. I don't know if you do requests as I'm new relatively new to your channel, but could you do a video segment on carry options for runners, please?
Corran Horn thanks for the suggestion. seems to be a subject many people are interested in
Hi Corran, we recommend our gun belts for the best outcome! :) The paddle attachment can fit up to 1 3/4" belt and the slide attachment gives you two options to pick from. The options are 1 1/2" or 1 3/4". Please give us a call if you have any other questions! :)
The KORE looks like the best option out there. Thumbs down for Alien gear belt, since I couldn't find it on their site, then had to google search it, which leads to a sister web site. After finally seeing what Alien Gear claims is the belt "for best outcome," I see there is only one option and it has holes like a traditional belt. A number of reviews on that belt page have members complaining about the length of the belt. From what I read on the KORE belt, they are cut to length, up to 44", and they have notches every 1/4". While the Alien Gear holsters look like a great choice, their belt marketing here looks like BS.
Ordered mine 4 minutes into this video. Just received it in the mail, fast shipping and I love it!
Love my aliengear. Nice review! Glad to see a new vid from you.
Thanks for watching glad you liked the review!
Just got mine today for the G43... Confusing at first but then it all "clicked" for me. Very nice holster. Even got their belt too!
I'm not sure I like all those little pieces that hold things together but you did an excellent job showing the product :-)
scottybow777 thank you!
scottybow777 - I was skeptical at first as well but within a minute of opening my CCP I knew they had a “Completely Alien Design” that is out of this world;) It’s so good, I am selling all my other holsters. Nothing compares to the design and I have worn my very comfortable AIWB for the last month to include in shorts, with out a belt, my Sheild. Hands down the best I’ve ever used.
I had a screw come out of my alien gear owb holster while I was in the grocery store, had to do some creative, forearm retention to keep from having to draw with and manipulate my firearm in public. I was wearing a jacket, so I didn't draw any attention. As a result, I put blue loctite on all the fasteners on my holster, considering the ease of disassembly, do you foresee those lock nuts coming loose on their own?
Great Video! I am personally not impressed with the gear and lock setup of the holster. It seems like a terribly weak design. Considering a loaded gun is in the holster and just the tension that could possibly be put on that small piece that holds the entire weight of the gun. Do you have any concerns of it breaking or the push button release letting go or breaking as well? Thanks for putting up great videos and your honesty in them.
NATHAN S it feels pretty solid, a good product for most everyday CCW holders. thanks for watching and commenting
Nathan S - Alien Gear just released this video that may answer your question. ua-cam.com/video/5HZFg4cGW94/v-deo.html I ordered a Shape Shift Core Carry Pack and it is very rugged and comfortable. I didn’t even know I was missing out till I got it. Watch the 19 point torture test and you decide. I love mine.
I want to say thank you for reviewing the shapshift holster system. Because of your review I went ahead and purchased the core carry system and absolutely love it. It is amazing. I also purchased the Olight PL2 mini valkyrie 600 lumin weapons light because of your review of it. Your reviews are on point
Thank you and keep up the great work. Thanks again.
to many moving parts for me. sweet idea but I love my stealth gear USA
iam jacks complete lack of surprise thanks for watching. I hear good things about it. 👍
iam jacks complete lack of surprise bulky over engineered
Stealth Gear> Alien Gear
Seems to bulky. Looks alright but not for me
The 4.0 actually has a thinner shell than the 3.0 and it's smaller in width as well! :)
I wish I had found your video a week ago when I first got my Shape Shift holster. I struggled with the directions. However, I figured most of everything thing out. I still wasnt sure on tightening the retention. Finally your video explained it. I must say I really like having all these options in 1 package.
Ehhhh? Super cool idea but not too sure how I feel about everything being put together with plastic "nuts" and no actual hardware! But I like where their minds at! If they offered something like this with the old hardware I'd be more interested... I know this is to make things "easier" or "faster" but I question reliability
JD Younk the nuts aren't what it is hold the holster together it heavy slides internally and externally it's actually surprisingly study.
JD Younk plastic ?no one is useing plastic it is a polymer. You use the word plastic has a insult. And you do it on purpose.
Hi JD, this new and improved holster has very strong, durable hardware that's made out of polymer. We have spent a lot of time and resources making sure that this holster is perfect! It has passed all of our tests and we can indeed say that we think it's the most durable holster we have yet! We actually think that this hardware is better than our previous holsters because screws can become loose with everyday use and fall out and that just does not happen with the new ShapeShift. Please send us a message at support@aliengearholsters.com if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great day!
They have a lifetime warranty. If something ever does fail they will send you a new one.
JD Younk - - I had my doubts as well but after a month of Zero issues, I have listed all my other holsters for sale Blackhawk, Safari Land, Fobus and others. Very intuitive design, you can just about figure everything out without reading the manual. Reliability has been exceptional!!! Check out this 19 point torture test ua-cam.com/video/5HZFg4cGW94/v-deo.html
I love the new shapeshift and the cloak tuck 3.0. I'll continue to use both. In my opinion the shapeshift is superior, it's very comfortable and easy to use. Re holstering your weapon has never been easier with any iwb holster. As far as mag carriers go for concealed carry i prefer knightfall customs double iwb mag carrier. Very nice carrier for a good price. It's comfortable, adjustable, and easy to conceal.
Good video, but I will pass. Too many parts, imo questionable security with fasteners that "lock", IWB looks really bulky, etc. I own a couple of the first gen AG holsters that I use on occasion and are decent holsters, but I don't feel as this is a true everyday holster. Looks like AG is jumping on the gimmick holster bandwagon, once again imo.
Randy Tipton - I was skeptical at first as well but within a minute of opening my CCP I knew they had a “Completely Alien Design” that is out of this world;) It’s so good, I am selling all my other holsters. Nothing compares to the design and I have worn my very comfortable AIWB for the last month to include in shorts, with out a belt, my Sheild. Hands down the best I’ve ever used.
What if you want to use the iwb and wall mounts as a system. Do you have to disassemble your iwb every time you want to store off body? Seems to me two dedicated holsters is still the way to go. This is more for someone wanting to play around before they spend big dollars on various holsters.
You can just get the gun shell as extra.
Jack of all trades, master of none comes to mind.
Mauricio Aceves my first thoughts too, but the individual setups are all better than their previous counterparts. Great holster, if this is the type of holster you are in the market for. Thanks for watching and commenting
In regards to the Jack of all trades quote, the full thing is: "Jack of all trades, master of none, though often times better than a master of one."
I don’t even like the name of the company, but jack of all trades, master of none seems a bit short sighted. What’s your vehicle a master of? Like a lot of fellows, I’ve got more holsters than pistols. This seems to be a MASTER at making a highly transmutable but quite effective tool. I now have ONE master IWB that is adaptable to most of my pistols. The added mastery of being able to carry a compact with a high cap mag on my fat 4:30 region is more than mastery, it’s perfection. I’m such a adhd freak that because of the name Alien Gear, I literally never touched one for years. I’ve been a farm to table chef for 27 years. What you’re saying is the equivalent to asking me what my “ specialty” is. All of it. That’s not braggadocio. I guess its perspective and expectation. By the way , to you and the other skeptics, have you actually tried one? I’m I know $39 is a lot, but with something so crucial and life altering, more that a UA-cam show and tell is called for. I mean if you want to be a master and whatnot…
I just got my first hand gun and am searching for the right conceal and carry holster, after watching this video I am definitely considering the shapeshift, it looks really good. thanks for the great review. I subscribed so i'll for sure see you around.
I was interested in Alien Gear holster but as I'm new to carrying I wasn't sure whether I wanted IWB or OWB especially since I'm CBB (Chubby). With this set up I can try out both and decide which to choose. I wanted a high carry and this looks great. I'm sold!
Not available for any Sig Sauers, HKs, CZs or Berettas. Oh well. I guess they don't want my money.
ytmndan more to come. Thanks for watching and commenting
And I'm sure they won't make it work with any FN's either.
Its a new product that will be expanded upon. Be patient and more gun models will be available.
Well that will suck big if I can't get one for my 92fs Beretta! Have other friends with 92's who are also interested!
hbarwickjr - I just read on the AG website that the release date for Shape Shift shell for the Beretta 92/M9 is between Nov-Dec 2018. Cool Christmas present for yourself😹
Just got this for Xmas. Sig 365xl, fits perfect. This video helped a lot describing the various configurations. Thanks a lot....
Just ordered mine great video
Got the kit. It doesn't come with all of those belt clips anymore or a few other things. You should update the review. Something else to take note of. I have their 3.5 IWB for my SR1911 commander. They don't make a shapeshift shell for any 1911 commander models, only the full 5". I sent them a request when I got my 3.5 months back and they did acknowledge my request so I'll just hope it happens. So that is an example of where the older holsters or lateral holsters (the 3.5 came out after the shapeshift).
@Neil you said before you didn't like the rubber attachment they used for their OWB slide or on the belt but just to let you know you can put the "ridged" attachment option in when you order it from Alien Gear instead. I just ordered a Cloak MOD OWB and did exactly that and love that holster as well as my IWB MOD 3 they make also. Again as always thank you for covering their products in a thorough way we all appreciate it. Now Alien Gear offers individual shape shifter holsters as well as the full kit.
R Sjr you're absolutely correct and thanks for the comment.
This is my second viewing of this video and I saw something new... your zero cant adjustment. This has been something I've wondered about for a while now and I'm glad you covered that here.
I've had the Cloak Tuck 3.0 for a while now and most recently ordered a shoulder holster with the Shapeshift platform and soon a Shapeshift Starter Kit.
One of my chief complaints with the 3.0 was that the holster was just a smidge off on the cant while carrying a 1911. Knowing that the cant can be modified where the holster connects to the backing is a game changer as far as carrying my 1911 goes.
Just ordered one for my m&p shield performance center before watching your video. very impressed, what sold me was the fact it comes with a mount to put in my jeep alongside all the other configurations. I was unsure but feel much better about my purchase after watching your video!
Chris Lukasiewicz thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Because of you and your wife videos on this holster, got me to order my core pack. Thanks for the info, awesome. Wish they could offer the holster for guns with lights or any other sights.
One one thing I can see that might discourage some from getting these is? Those that run a light and/or a red dot/RMR
Yeah. They have some holsters for certain lights/lasers though. Namely Streamlight and Crimson Trace
Just watched. Great review. This review sold me. I have watched about 12 P365XL holster videoes now and this one ended the search. Just ordered my kit. Thanks.
One of the Best holster systems I've seen available to LE and the Public. After carrying for over 42 years as a LEO and in retirement I'm sold on AG products. Real World tools for the Real World. Great job with the presentation. Keep up the good work. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

No instructions needed after watching your video! Awesome!!!!
cruz retana thank you!
I can no longer CC in center back due to multiple back surgeries and 11 major surgeries left to go. I apendex carry, so far I love my sticky holster and yes it covers the trigger. But my drawback is I can't carry my extra mags. When I use it daily you literally can't feel you are wearing a holster and it doesn't cause you to sweat so no moisture gets to my 45. I've been looking at Alien wear simply because I can carry my extra mags. I need to one for my 45 and 40. I have others I leave home in case my sons are home and something bad happens I know they are able to protect themselves to. One has his own but the other only has a very nice rifle I gave him several years ago and in the house and how the layout is I don't think he'd be able to defend properly. I started teaching them both at 4 years old with my old 410 and worked the rest of the way up to different styles, gushes and how to brace & help each other. Today I held teach the grandkids at the same age.
But I am maybe 100 pounds at 5'4" and there's zero chance I'd be able to fight a man even if I was in perfect shape. My favorite is the Glock. The 40 is a Taurus and it's very accurate. But the G, even if a part breaks or wet it would still work and the parts and interchangeable with any Glock.
I'm really interested in the Alien wear and I know or have been told I can buy one molded to work with the sights and green or red dot I still want to buy. If anyone knows for sure I was told right about the mold and attachments please let me know for sure. But I do like the design of AW. It's hard for me to CC because of my size except in winter or my sticky I love so much. I was afraid it was going to shift but it stays put even if I have jogging pants on as long as it has a front tie at the waist it's never moved from where I put it. I really do want as much information on AW so if anyone uses it please give me some feedback and know it's very appreciated. I am disabled now so I'm looking for it to not only be quality but comfortable to. I see the belly bands but I don't think I'd really like those. Thanks for all/ any input.
Also my state allows both CC and open carry.
I have A LOT of Alien Gear equipment. I love the quality and ingenuity. I dont do IWB, but there are different ways for OWB. Plus theres the drop holster for the upper thigh. Theres also the molle adaptor for web mount. Theres also the backpack strap mount.
Just got the ankle holster and i love it! Comfortable, secure and perfect for back up with my Glock 43. Awesome review GFA
Very good review, but I might more strongly emphasize a couple of points. As you mentioned, the paddle holster holds the weapon well outside your body. It feels like you could carry a loaf of bread between your body and the holster. It would work for range time, but for every day carry, not so much. The reason is the quick release shell design. Easy to use and does allow for easy adjustment of cant angle, but still results in the weapon being too far away from the body.
The kit includes two kinds of belt slides. You showed the 'loop' style. You can also remove the paddle from its frame and attach a smaller block that your belt passes through. This version of the belt slide, like the paddle, holds the weapon too far away from your body. More to the point, and unlike the 'loop' style belt slide, the pass-through version has a lot of 'slop' in it. You weapon will just flop around on your belt. In short, the pass-through belt slide and the paddle aren't very good for everyday open or concealed carry because the gap between the weapon and your body. The 'loop' style belt slide is much better in terms of holding the weapon close, but the belt loops aren't very flexible and cause your belt to "gap" away from your pants. Those loops are also far enough apart that the entire holster wont' fit between two consecutive loops on some pants (i.e. wranglers). You'll have to push the holster to the center belt loop at the back/center of your pants, then thread your belt through the next loop, then finally through the second loop on your holster to get things to line up in the four o'clock position. It works and it does keep your weapon close, but it's a clumsy fit compared to some of the better belt slide leather holsters (i.e. CQC blackhawk).
The appendix and IWB configurations are cleverly designed, but like many IWB solutions, plan on going up at least one to two inches in pants size. Yes, these configs require that you walk around with that "full diaper" look in the back of your pants. It's fine if you wear cargo style pants everyday... not so good if your daily wear is a pair of Wranglers. To be fair, I've never found an IWB solution that allowed you to wear a pair of pants that actually fit. It's just the nature of the beast.
On an sidenote, here's a good way to tell if a paddle holster is optimally designed for everyday carry. Put it on... if their is a gap between the shell of the holster and your body, the damn holster is not designed right. Whether belt slide or paddle, I want that weapon pulled snug against me.... not sticking out like a hitchhiker looking for a free ride. A quick detach that allows me to quickly swap weapon shells sound great in theory (and practice), but not if it means my weapon is going to be held an inch away from my body.
Summary: The design intent is very good and each component is very well made. The methods of switching between appendix, IWB, paddle and belt slide is also good. The quick and easy shell swap is the big selling point. You can support multiple weapons with the same kit, buying only the shell for each gun. The negatives are in the practical execution for everyday carry. The paddle and belt slide (not loop) hold the weapon too far away from the body. The loop style belt slide is too wide with loops that are too stiff. The appendix/iwb are good but again, you'll need to add at least an inch or two to your pant size. Again, that is common with most IWB style holsters Frankly and for the money... if you want a belt slide... get a leather CQC or Tagua. If you want a paddle holster, get a leather Stoner. If you want an IWB, plan on wearing over-sized cargo pants every day.
It looks like an awesome holster. I have two of their holsters for my 1911 and love them. Just waiting for this to be available for the xds 4.0 and then I will immediately buy
Awsome company. I put my shapeshift through the stress test, it's worth it. Customer service was very professional and extremely nice. They do stand by their product and the warranty 110%.
Excellent video and thank you for taking the time to make it. Was looking for something from Alien Gear to see what each configuration would look like concealed.
Excellent review. I just ordered a p365xl Romeo and was about to purchase another crossbreed, my go to holster for carry guns. However, after watching this I’m a changed man.
I was really afraid he was biased because alien gear sent him this but Im happy because he was honest even with the negatives!
There is a lot of brains and work behind this set up. Same for your deep Review. Thanks a lot !!!
I bought the alien gear shape shift appendix, and was disappointed with the cant adjustment. Because of the rigid belt clip, the only thing that ends up being adjusted is the alien skin back pad. The shell and the belt clip are linked together, and because the belt clip is always perpendicular to the belt, the shell and the whole rig follows it. when you change the adjustable cant all it does is cause the alien skin pad to become misaligned with the firearm. The firearm itself still rides straight up and down because it’s locked to the belt clip which always rides straight up and down. The belt clip will always seek the same position on the belt, it will not ride crooked, so if you can’t adjust the holster shell independently from the belt clip then it’s useless.
Amazing review. You sold me, ordering one. Never seen such versatility in a holster.
I love mine just wish they had a shell for flashlight capability
This is the thorough video on this product that I've been looking for. Thank you!
Sleyguy thank you for the kind words 👍
I noticed something while going though alien gears site. they actually have a hard plastic belt slide attachment. it is an option you have while ordering the shape shift. they also sell one separately for the old cloak mod owb holster. I do not know if that one is compatible with the shape shift system though.
Been carrying the shape shifter for over a year now. Very comfortable and durable. I have a shapeshift for my XD and my M&P.
I'm considering ordering it for my XD-9 subcompact. You honestly think it's worth getting?
Need a boot holster that actually attaches to the high type top work steel toe boot via a couple clips and that loops through the pull loops of the boot and maybe also has some plastic supports foe the weight of the gun and holster so that the setup doesn’t pull the top of the boot down at all. The ankle holsters cause rashes.
I think the material you were thinking of that's better than Kydex is called Boltoran.
I enjoyed this review, but of course I have a question - How well does the Shapeshift do at keeping the grip of the pistol tilted in to your torso when in the appendix configuration? For comparison perhaps compare or consider the kydex holsters which use this "claw" feature that I've seen. There also seems to be some shops online that sell them as "belt claws" or "belt wings", for reference.
Tim Gray - I was skeptical at first as well but within a minute of opening my CCP I knew they had a “Completely Alien Design” that is out of this world;) It’s so good, I am selling all my other holsters. Nothing compares to the design and I have worn my very comfortable AIWB for the last month to include in shorts, with out a belt, my Sheild. Hands down the best I’ve ever used.
Been using mine every single day for a few years now and the only thing I dislike about the entire system is the flaps where the clips hook into, I wish they sold longer versions or extra holes to the sides to bypass this issue. I like to carry at my 3 and in order to do this I must add an extra belt loop to my pants for it to stay in place comfortably (it pulls on both belt loops too tightly) , if it was just 1/2" longer I wouldn't have to do this. Very minor issue for most I'm sure and I've had my Shapeshift for going on over 3 years now, and I'm just now getting visual damage to the holster (fraying at the end mostly, another year or two I might need to buy a new backing), and mind you I wear this every single day and all day long with a physically demanding job, it's been a great investment so far minus the one major problem for me.
Thanks so much. I have a cloak 3.0 that was an upgrade when my 2.0 wore out. This is on my list to pick up next.
Great review and overview on how to set up the different configurations. Just bought this setup for my everyday carry gun. Thanks much!
I have the system for my glock 26 , it is the best so far , I like the shorter holster & I am not dropping screws on the ground like I did on the 3.0 holster .
Herman Martin Yes, I love how the clips and loops attach. Thanks for watching and commenting
You did a fantastic job reviewing that holster. I have been waiting for mine to be delivered. I'm very excited! Thank you!
Great review! I've been anxiously waiting for your review. Been wearing my shape shift since last Friday. Super comfortable. Only difference is mine did not come with the different belt loops.
Todd Fisher thanks its a great kit!
My didn't come with any extra clips. I really wanted the loops, but I only have the standard clips that came already installed on the soft back.
Thanks for the video ! I already have alien gear gear and I agree with you , this kit looks like a great step up. The versatility is awesome.
Harley Rev thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Great Video Neil! I ordered one. I'm glad of this so I dont have 4 different holsters depending on what activity I am doing, going to the range or just carrying.
Nancy Offenhiser hope you like it. Thanks for watching
I bought this and I Love it. I'm still trying to figure out which is the best for me to carry with this system. I give it 10+👍🏼
I've been rocking Alien Gear since they first came out. It's the only holster I buy.
Great review . I’m shopping different holsters brands . And you really elevated my choice to AlienGear.
Thank you
Not gonna lie - I saw Kim's review on this first because it popped up in my 'recommended' list. Continued clicking thru and found this very comprehensive review. I had been eyeing this rig for a while and after watching, just placed my order for it for my G19 with extra shell for G26, as well as double mag carrier. 30 day test drive will prove whether it's secure and comfortable. Hope so, because it looks good. And because of this review, you've earned a new subscriber. Good stuff...
How did it work out for you?
@@usmcvet0313 Honestly, this Alien Gear kit is crap. Holding 2 halves of a plastic holster together with little clips is a recipe for disaster. When assembled for the OWB belt holster (I won't call it a pancake because it's far from a pancake) the plastic belt loops strain and deform when the belt is secured - I can see them failing easily. The IWB iteration is ridiculously large, bulky, and uncomfortable. The paddle version is OK for walking around the woods or a day at the range, but not for security in public. As for the 30 day free trial, you pay shipping BOTH ways. At $20 each way for me (east coast), I'd be into this junk for $40 and have nothing in my hand. So I kept it as an example of what NOT to use for a holster. Save your money on this. If you're looking for concealed carry, buy a quality leather pancake holster for OWB and a Vedder for a slim, comfortable, IWB holster. It will cost you a little more, but it will be worth it.
I had a cloak tuck and loved it except for one thing The damned screws constantly needed to be retightened . Glad they got rid of those and the rubber spacers
Awesome all in one system! Also that belt looks like a great belt, will look that up. Thanks for the link!
Feel like this was a really good video to introduce us to the Shapeshift and review based on initial impression. You may have done this video by now, but could you do a review after having run the system for a while?
