Dirt Monger Instruments HMT2 ~ Baritone Guitar & Digitakt demo

The Boss HM2, or better said this kind of distortion device (you know... my fetish for the Earthbound Audio Throat Locust), is since years an important part my sound (especially when I have to deal with the heavy stuff).
I already had the pleasure to assemble some DIY clones using Dirt Monger Instruments PCBs, so when this HMT2 came out, I decided to give it a go and support this tiny Canadian pedal maker.
What shall I say? This HMT2 RIPS! It has a very pleasant mid grind, and the additional MT2's parametric mid EQ-band is a surgical tool to further shape your tone.
Yes... its does the chainsaw thingy as you would expect, but unlike 99% of the HM2 user out there I like the pedal not for this reason, but for it's very powerful active tone stack and the fuzzy distorted quality. What I like a lot here, for example, it is to push the high knob and then with the Mid, center more or less the frequency range of the High knob and cut it down a bit, as you get some very interesting nuances (and also vice-versa sounds cool too).
Fazit? Not only for grind, death, sludge or doom... the HMT2 is also a very good companion for your romantic post-rock ballads: Highly recommended!

Another friggin' Chainsaw pedal? Yep, just what the world needs. HMT-2 is a mashup of the Boss Heavy Metal and Metal Zone. Boiled down, the HMT-2 is the aggression of the HM-2 with the semi-parametric Mids of an MT-2. Get that low end and snarly grind with mids that sit where you want.
