BSRI Audio Magawa ~ Baritone Guitar & Digitakt demo

Back again with a demo vid!
This time on the board a pedal from a brand I love and enjoy a lot since many years: the BSRI Audio MAGAWA, from Baltimore/US.
MAGAWA is a super cool take on the a very well know distortion device: the RAT. With a twist: it's built around a military grade opamp, a 14pin version of the LM308, specified to work in the most tough conditions an electric device could possibly work!
Do it help the sound? Maybe yes, maybe it's only mojo.... but Dave did a wonderful job on this one, and Magawa is delivering a lot of wonderful tones.
And... This statement comes from yours truly, to whom RATs were never really my piece of cake.
Magawa delivers: especially in the low to mid gain range, it's a post-rock riff machine tone-generator! It can also go high gainish, but don't expect death metal devastations.

P.S.: Magawa was a Gambian pouched rat that worked as a HeroRAT sniffing out landmines in Cambodia for the non-governmental organization APOPO which trains rats to detect landmines and tuberculosis. Magawa was the most successful landmine-sniffing rat in the organization's history, and received the PDSA Gold Medal in 2020.

Magawa takes the popular distortion platform and adds a handful of flexible mods for the widest possible range of tones. Contour is the popular Ruetz mod I learned about from my friend Dan at Beavis Audio back in the early 2000s. Texture allows you to move the clipping threshold from fully clipped to no diode clipping and everywhere inbetween. The classic silicon diode tone is here as well as an asymmetrical germanium mode for added compression and softer edges.
Oh and I flipped the direction of the Filter pot because I like turning up for more treble rather than turning down.
