I would suggest using an automotive rinseless or waterless wash instead of regular soap. The reason is that soap leaves a residue on the surface unless you rinse it off. I would only use soap on a very dirty wheel.

It was dirty but didn't look like it on camera, but yes i did after really muddy offroad on my Sherman-S, same result !

You can see the dirt better on it about here 0:56 you can see it on the back of the wheel, kickstand, and rear power pads.
