That explanation of how the club and hands work in relation to the body is the best way to make the fundamentals of the golf swing easy to understand! SO GOOD! Thank you once again!😊

Danny, the elusive true move in the downswing!!! I have watched 1000's of you tube video's, destroyed my home grass, fairways and sometimes my wrist!!. I have started to get better, but, could never seem to figure out exactly the missing piece. I took about 10 minutes trying this drill, thing big thing that I noticed is to not allow feeling the club head be a problem. Thanks

Danny I’ve been slicing the my driver for years. And I mean a giant banana slice! This drill just fixed it in one session. I can’t thank you enough, I’ve taken lessons upon lessons and not been able to get the feeling of releasing the club face. I just played the best 9 holes of my life today. Thank you!!!!!

Just went through a fast forward of this into my net and wow this is generating so much more power than my old idea on a swing, will take way more work to really get this up down and around feeling but im blown away at how off my idea really was when swinging. I was nowhere near as down or close to my body as i had thought and thus the weakish shots. Doing this has made me realize how truly off i was , i just cranked a few into the net and holy cow man there is the speed and power i have been dreaming of. Very new to golf but after the swings i just took using this feeling up down AND aroumd i am in awe and now wont be able to sleep cause i cant wait to see how much farther my irons go tomorrow at the range lol , hitting them into the net i cant see it obviously but i can hear it and feel it and it is a whole other level lol. Thanks for sharing this Drill.

I watched your video at lunch today and I thought it was very good. I went to the range after work and tried it out, with great success. I’m going to add this to my warm up shots. I used it on my approach wedge, 7 iron, and driver. It really helped me realize how the left had basically stops when you post on the left leg and then catapult the club head with the right hand. Great video and a good golf learning day. Thanks.

Hi Danny, I know this video is a couple of years old but I'd just like to say that it is a tremendous fix for downswing, my hands were so much more dynamic with that release. Took it straight on the course, although I was slightly wayward due to it being so new, my iron striking was so much better, and with increased speed & distance. Fantastic.

This is a great video to learn from. After practicing the drill at home I took it to the range this afternoon. Fortunately the weather was great as luckily I am down here in southern Portugal. The difference to the contact was like night and day. This has cleared up much confusion on the downswing that I have had in my mind for many years. I found was able to hold the wrist set with no casting or early release. Today I actually felt as though I knew what I was doing. This is a simple effective drill that Danny has explained so simply. If someone explained this to me 20 years ago I might have been a half decent golfer by now!
I can think of a group of 10 elderly men next Friday on the Penina resort course who would do well by watching this video. Thank you again Danny for what you do to help so many people. Rich

Danny! Perpetual 10 handicapper here...spent the last week and about $100 in range balls trying to stop hitting it left. Or straight but with a high ball flight. Divots were ALWAYs about 15 degrees left no matter what I did with my setup, timing, etc (and I went to some extreme in all the above).
Came to the conclusion my right shoulder was the culprit. Got home and Google got me to this video. I’ve left a fee divots in the yard using your method here...and they were all DEAD STRAIGHT! Grass needed mowing anyway. Can’t wait to get back to the range.
My swing is fairly good; hoping this nugget will kill the slight OTT move once and for all. I’ll let you know. Love your stuff.

Tried it on the range yesterday and it worked.
Before, my swing was a lot over the top.
I did some practice swings without a ball no issue, but when it came to hitting a ball my brain started to think „you can‘t hit the ball like this“ after I convinced my brain that it will work I hit my first ball and it was just great.
I think I‘m still struggeling with a bit to the left ball flight but much better now than before. So I will keep on practising and hope I can try it on the course soon.
Thanks for sharing this drill that changed my golf and removed a lot of frustration.

Hi Danny, I am returning to golf after a 15 year break and thought I'd take a look at a few videos. I love your style, enthusiasm, training and learning techniques. I took three tips to try at the driving range (takeaway, grip pressure and allowing the club head to swing through the ball) last week and I can honestly say they are truly transformational. Loads to work on and very early days still (I was a 9 handicapper) but very much looking forward to starting and playing again thanks to your videos.

THANK YOU. someone has finally clearly articulated that the feel on release is the club coming out/ over the top. For so long I’ve dropped the club into the slot correctly and then on release tried to push the club out to the right. This move is a perfect feel. I just went and shaved 10/12 shots off my average score. Thanks for that light bulb moment. Much love from Australia.

@@DanielMaude Thanks Braddha Dan. Might I ask for one more somewhere down the road? Since I live in Hawaii, a lot of time we have very very wet bunker sand. I have used your open face sand shot to some success on regular sand (I mean for someone with less than 6 months on the game I'm 80% successful at getting out on the first try), but wet concrete sand is a different beast. Don't know if I should chip, pitch or cry. It's usually the latter. Thanks Bro.

When I started finding myself go back to my old ways, I split my hands up like Danny shows you, and hit the golf balls 10-20 yards again. Key was getting the ball positioned behind front left foot and letting the hips open up naturally as I swing through. Thanks for the help!

I have been playing golf for 23 years and struggled to eliminate my over the top down swing...got it down to a minimal over the top and just played it as a permanent part of my golf swing to my current 10.2 handicap...I tried every tip took lessons once a week for two years could never eliminate it completely until I watch this video...did your split hand drill for 30-minutes then went the range did it there hit numerous balls with my hands split and my over the top move completely gone...it helped feel for the first time where my shoulders, arms and hands should be positioned for solid contact...I now use the split hand for two or three practice swings and then slip my hands down to their normal position to hit my shot. Danny your the man! Ive been struggling with over the top for years and doing this move has transformed my game with my irons. Im hitting them high straight and long..I really cant believe it!!! One question is it the same move with the driver? if it is I'm struggling getting back to ball with a square club face with driver. I think its because of the length of the driver compared to irons. Thanks Kenny

For years I have struggled with an inconsistent transition. Now that I discovered this drill the ball is exploding off the face of my seven iron. I can only conclude that I have always externally rotated my right shoulder. As an added bonus I can now effortlessly align my right knee and hip during the downswing. Pullo

Super drill Danny and I know it works - difficulty is keeping the hands soft while going straight down hard and putting Pressure on the Ball as you recommend with irons. So trying to work with the lovely Lag Drill you have posted and hitting down hard seems tough as it seems I need iron hard grip to wack into it! Great site - thanks so much.

This is great danny! In regards to the first half of this drill, we essentially try to ingrain muscle memory by going from p4 or p5 to the p6 position? If you have reached the p6 position nicely it’s really hard to mess up impact correct? I guess we could almost use this as a preshot routine before shots? I see justin rose sort of doing the same thing before full swings.

Danny! I have been implementing the up, down and around swing! When I get it right it’s fantastic! But more often than not I feel like I’m still flipping or scooping at impact! I’m hitting shots way high with no distance and losing some out right! It only happens with irons! It’s never an issue with driver! Any ideas mate? Am I not extending enough through impact? Or not rotating enough? Any ideas would be welcomed mate! Thank you so much

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  4 роки тому

double check your club face position, most of the time when golfers are flipping and scooping its because their club face is open as it approaches impact and your body rapidly has to do all it can to close it. Ive a got a video coming this Saturday on the subject

Danny, recently I've been working on getting my hands much lower (near the right thigh/knee) on the downswing coming into impact (last parallel). I see very little discussion of this specifically on golf vlogs. Also, in doing so, I notice that all good golfers including yourself have a significant bending/driving of the right knee downward and inward on the way into impact. Again, little if any discussion or demonstration specifically of this key element of the swing. Would you please consider addressing "how to get the hands low at last parallel and/or the roll of the right knee into impact? It is present in nearly every professional's golf swing but this specific aspect is rarely if ever addressed. Thank you so much for considering my request.

I’ve been trying about everything on UA-cam whenI get a chance. It started when I went to try and get a swing to become a more consistent ball striker. I was put in a swing in which my right elbow doesn’t come off my side in the backswing and I’m taking it back shut. It’s led to me having to jump or raise up at impact. Hooks, pushes, fat shots and the shanks have become the normal. Since this has been ongoing for three years I can’t shake the pattern. Is the problem starting at the beginning of the swing? Any drills or advice would be most welcome. Great content in your videos. Keep up the good work and greetings from Iowa!

@@DanielMaude Took this drill and what I learned from your Perfect Backswing video to the range. Found something I haven't experienced in years, speed at the bottom! No weak, right shots and no hooks or fat shots. Ball flight was higher as well. Ball first contact will need more work on the irons, but I'm excited for once! The driver felt like the catapult analogy you used in one of your videos. I guess being stuck has prevented me from knowing what it is like to properly rotate through impact. Hoping the snow holds off to get a few more range sessions in! Thanks for your content!

Play off 5 handicap. Had a fairly flat swing. Tried this today for first time, I don't do range work, so I was on the course. Result: Higher ball flight and extra distance. Excellent. Shanked a couple, and thinned a couple but when it worked, the flight was awesome. More practice to look forward to.

Tried it at the range yesterday and it worked well resulting in straight shots or a slight draw. Also tried another drill with similar results, where after a normal set up/grip and downswing, the right hand was then taken off the club after impact and the swing to the finish was with the left arm only. No immediate improvement when I went back to hitting it normally however, so more practice required!
