Can we sin the fact Aladdin hides the lamp when he "rubs" it in the cave. In the original, he uses his charisma and wit to trick the Genie into proving that he is as powerful as he says. In this version, it's like a child crossing their fingers behind their back when they make a promise, more deceitful and dishonest than clever.

"Can you tell Disney to stop ringing so many bells?" Sorry, Jeremy. That Hunchback of Notre Dame remake is coming and there's nothing we can do to stop it.
Domesticated tigers actually ARE a thing though... if you raise them as a cub to be reliant on humans, they'll see humans as their master. There's always the potential risk that their wild instincts will randomly kick in, but it's no where near guaranteed as Jeremy is suggesting.
I feel like when they do these remakes they make it so cheesy. Aladin was perfect for a Guy Ritchie type movie. Like gritty, the danger is real but fun. I mean in the original a guy screams as he's eaten by a sand tiger in first part of the movie. In Lion king, we see Simba discover his dad's dead body and then his uncle literally says "kill him" to the hyenas. In Mulan, "how many men does it take to deliver a message?" In Pocahontas "Stay away from him! He killed him!" These movies knew how to make us care about what the characters are going thru. The remakes feel watered down & silly. I reeaaallly thought Jon Faverau and Guy Ritchie would've made live actions with the same balance of fun and danger.
Besides, the best thing this movie could ever do would be to have massive parrot Iago as Gilbert Gottfried saying, "EXCUSE ME. COMING THROUGH. OH, I'M VERY SORRY ABOUT THAT. I AM VERY LARGE."
@@SethSwanny the guy who played aladdin said that he never got contacted for any more roles. because usually when new actors are in a big movie they are contacted for more roles after.

@Blister Aging Pocahontas, having a romance between her and John Smith which IRL never happened, her teenage marriage, then dying fron disease at 21 to name a few.
This could go either way. Pocahontas was already a pretty weak movie, so see a live action help it a lot, or it could make it one of the worst Disney movies ever made. I’m going with the second one on this.
Ahhh THANK YOU for pointing out how selfish this Genie feels! How his lack of emotional connection makes it less impactful when Aladdin is similarly selfish and when Genie saves him!
Yes !!! the genie in the original Aladdin feel so much more loving and kind hearted and really loves Al 🥹, but Will Smith brought a kind of sarcastic Condescending tone to genie that didn’t translate well. I totally caught that too.
"TEACH an apple to steal a statesman and the kingdom will never have to fish a day in its life." I don't know why but I feel like this would look great on a T-Shirt. Also I just love how much you hate those ugly disney remakes.
I had always assumed in the original it's because he's so overlooked and uncared for that no one notices him anyway. Jasmine doesn't recognize him at first because she thinks he's dead and doesn't really look at the random princes coming to her because to her it's just npc #3, until she properly looks him in the face.
13:34 Actually, the genie can have two masters if the previous master hasn't made all three of his wishes yet which is the case for Aladdin. As long as he hasn't made his wishes the Genie still considers Aladdin to be his master so I'd say this isn't against the genie code at all.

@@sirennoir258 IT1s not that, but Jasmine becomes very passive and mostly just talks instead of actually doing something. Her only major act was the speech she gave to the soldier, but other than that she does nothing. Even when she actually does something, it doesn1t exactly support that she should be a great Sultan. What's her first scene? She taking food from a vendor and doesn't even know that she has to pay for stuff. Shouldn't she know about that, especially how she read tons of books just to become a good Sultan? Or how about not once she actually tried to rub the lamp, even though she actually got it and clearly saw how Jafar used it. Again, it feels like the creators were so busy keep putting into the dialogue how she's silenced while she should be the sultan, that they actually forgot to show that through characterization and basic reactions and actions on stuff.
Does it bother anyone else that this Aladdin seems very well off with his outfit. In the cartoon, he had a vest, pants, and a hat, that's it. Here, he's got a whole outfit, like he's on Project Agrabah or something.
Especially when you consider who he really is & who he became, lmao. How is he super confident & charming as a homeless thief but awkward beyond all belief as a powerful Prince?
Actually female sultans were surprisingly common. There was even the council of sultanas that was a group of female rulers who banded together and practically ran things and manipulated their sultan counterparts into doing their bidding. There were also three female sultans who refused to take the title sultana and insisted on taking the more male associate title of sultan. (Which primarily worked because they were the only heir to the previous sultan, just like jasmine.)
The Lion King was worse than Aladdin. I like the new one because it corrected a lot of the scenes that were wrong in the original. I also liked the modern spin on the songs. They're pretty good.

It’s still clever. It’s a wish, but less of a cheats way to get it free.
Androzani84 Productions no it’s not very clever.

It's so true. I still miss Robin like crazy. It's been years, and I still remember crying when my sister called to tell me he had passed away. He WAS a force of nature. I like Will Smith too, but no one could have taken on this role and topped Robin. Will Smith was probably the only good answer with his charisma and charm, but it is just not the same. It never will be the same.
When Robin died I had friends over and we watched everything I had with Robin, including What Dreams May Come and Ferngully, as a memorial service. We all cried

"Can you tell Disney to stop ringing so many bells?" Sorry, Jeremy. That Hunchback of Notre Dame remake is coming and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

That's tigerist *ting*

I had always assumed in the original it's because he's so overlooked and uncared for that no one notices him anyway. @@Paulafan5 Yet she's the one claiming her to be the perfect fit to becme Sultan and even the movie pushes that narrative. I don't know about you, but this feels like the whole movie contradicts itself and basically made Jasmine all words but no actual acts.
It's sad how true that statement is.
You can give a Princess a power balled - but you can't make her lead
