Just want to thank you for this video. I had misfire on my #2 cylinder today and I replaced the plugs and the coil and that finally fixed it and this helped guide me to safely take the pieces out without damaging anything.
I have a 2002 Toyota Solara with the 2.4 engine (240,000 miles on it now) and you have made it look like an easy job, so for that, I have subscribed to your Channel. Great video for someone like me, I use to be a Mechanic back in my early days, (I'm 68-years-old, now) so anything like your videos is a Damn good thing for me !! Nice job, Brother !! Thank you so very much !!
Very nicely done! Right to the point, no over taking. I appreciated the recommendation about removing the bolt instead of the electrical connector. This will definitely save a lot of heartache. Kudos! I'm excited to see what other videos you have.
Thank you! This video made swapping my sparkplugs a snap. I really appreciated calling out the tools needed. The only hiccup I had was actually getting the sparkplugs out of the hole, but fortunately I had a magnet on a stick handy.
I didn’t have enough slack in the wires. They were taped together and anchored down. It looks like you had this piece off. I saw the empty 10mm bolt hole.
With no prior symptoms, my 2002 Solara threw a P0302 code tonight (cylinder 2 misfire). Instant loss of power, choppy idle, etc. Thinking I’m going to try to replace the coil tomorrow myself, but I wanted to check the plug as well. Never done this myself before, and your video was the only one I could find that showed my exact engine. Thanks for this! Wish me luck! 🤣
Swapped the #2 and #3 coils, cleared the code, and drove it. Didn’t make it to the end of the block before it threw a code again. This time it was #3. So this confirms a bad coil... Only problem now is that there was some oil on the outside of the coils, and a lot of burnt looking crud at the bottom of the #3 coil... so per your video, I’m thinking I need that valve cover gasket as well... good times!
@@HowtoAutomotive Thanks again for all the help. Car is running perfect again. Going to look into valve cover gasket replacement, I think. Do you have a video for that with this engine as well? (I've been searching around a bit today.)
Rob Kraut Rob glad the car is running well. Her is video for the valve cover. It’s on Different car but has the same engine. ua-cam.com/video/wgS70WbDDvs/v-deo.html
Would clean your mass air sensor, throttle body if dirty, monitor your radiator fluid or change out, and maybe drain refill transmission fluid and should be good.
It's better to buy the OEM Spark Plugs at the Toyota dealership, it's usually already gap at the OEM recommended specs and they last way longer as far as reliability. For the coil packs I'm getting High performance Blue ignition Coils. And a new OEM PVC valve from the Toyota parts at the dealership. Some parts may need to be special order with a deposit up Front. A complete tune up includes the water pump and the Serpentine belt as well.
@raheemimran5757 Yeah, I'm pretty sure my brakes are close to the metal plate. And the rotors need to be replaced. I've had them on my car since April 2020 when I bought it. The dealership replaced it as part of the safety inspection.

Wow, you even included the cautionary note about over-torquing the spark plugs, and the importance of a straight extension to prevent spark plug damage both out and in. Well Done.
I have a camry that stalls like the end of the world plus it shuts off while in reverse the rpm is at 100 pls help whether its the plugs or coils *throttle body is cleaned*
If it stalling I would not suspect spark plugs are coils I would suspect the idle air control motor. Might start with a throne body cleaning see if that improves your condition..

Most auto parts stores will loan you an OBD Reader to use on site. Just check what cylinder isn't working or if you have multiple codes, it also tells you that too. P300 is a multi cylinder mis-fire with P301, P302, P303, P304 actually listing the cylinder #
So I bought 4 pre gapped plugs and 4 new coils. I changed everything but one plug because it was stripped and I couldn't get to it. Now my idle rpm is like 50rpm and it dies if I put it in drive. Any thoughts?
Hi Brian, My spark plugs are supposed to have a gap of .043" in my 2002 Camry. However, the NGK Iridium plugs I got through Amazon (that are supposed to fit this model car are preset to .044". Re the .043" plugs referred to in the manual says they are preset to .043". Is it worth regapping to the proper .043"?
The difference is only a thousanth of an inch. Not worth the risk of damaging the electrode to try and adjust that small of a difference. .043 or .044 it's basically the same.
Thanks for this video, I am now confident in my ability to do this on my 2004 Camry. I have never replaced the spark plugs in 164k miles of my ownership of this beast. Who knows what they will look like when I open them up!
How to Automotive I did change the Spark Plugs but it's smoother now than before but the motor will be shut down when am at the traffic light or at my parking lot when I am stopping my car

whats is a tune up for a toyota camry 2005 4 cylinder other than spark plugs , air filter and oil?

Have you had any problems torquing these by feel instead of to spec?
Wow I’m amazed how simple it was. I might consider the Camry over the Avalon or the Camry with the V6 after my Expedition craps out.

One of the best things I bought for this Job was a 5/8 magnetic socket held the plug in place until I could screw them in
Or just get a spark plug socket with the gasket inside to hold the plug.
@jonathanromero8639 I had those but many times pulled out the gasket with the plug and putting it back in place made me get the magnetic socket

Noah Synclaire NGK Iridium it burns a lot better
Both brands are good. Denso is factory with Toyota but NGK is also OEM on many cars.
Nice job.
How many miles should you have to change your spark plugs on your 2007 Camry thats 6 Cylinders.
Good preventative maintenance is maybe around every 30K
Iridium plugs are rated for at bare 100k miles
Copper spark plugs should be changed at 25k miles. Platinum or Iridium 100k.
2 questions. 1 cold engine or slightly warm? 2. Disconnect battery or no need?
You can leave the battery connected. And a warm engine would be optimal.
