In most cases your Iridium plugs do not need to be gapped. Using the anti-sieze on iridium spark plugs is actually detrimental than it does good. However,if you use copper spark plugs it a very good idea. The anti-sieze will eat the platinum or iridium coating it has on the thread. While the copper spark plugs it steel and most likely on any newer vehicles the block is aluminum. This will prevent galvanizing(rust) to happen.
I always use anti seize never had a issue. Maybe I’m just lucky. Either way thanks for the comment. May help someone out there. Thanks for watching as well.
Thank you for this. I may need to try it. When I was driving I came to a stop to wait to turn, the engine was idling rough. I turned the heat off and the idle was smoother...what does that mean? Thanks for any suggestions! Appreciate your channel.
Glad to help brother. It can be anything from a tune up, clogged air filter, vacuum leak somewhere in the system, when was the last time you cleaned your throttle body, dirty egr system etc. My advice start with a tune up and air filter. Then clean out your throttle body. Let me know how you make out brother.
Depending on the spark plug type you have, I would recommend every 60k. That is unless you have iridium which can last 80k -100k. Rough engine idle, poor fuel economy, engine misfires, poor acceleration are signs that it’s time for a tune up. Let me know if that helps you brother.
It’s recommended that anytime you disconnect a sensor, computer etc to do so. That’s the correct way. But you might get by in this case. Not a problem brother, thanks for the feedback! Glad I could help.

Hi from Australia Sydney. I have this exact car Camry altise. And recently got tune up including spark replacements. When how long do we wait till need replacing. Thank you
Hello my brother from Australia, I have a couple subscribers from Australia. Good people, I would love to visit there one day. It all depends on the type of spark plugs you had installed. Regular copper plugs are good for 50,000 to 60,000 miles. Platinum and Iridium are good for 70,000 to 80,000 miles. You will tell the car get sluggish and possible the motor will vibrate. Hope that helps brother.
What do you mean? Bolting it down? If so, while driving the coil pack can move and set off a check engine light or cause your car to hesitate or run rough.
I’m old school brother. I never seize everything including plugs and never had any issue with them coming loose. You can put them in dry if you want though. Thanks for the information brother.
Bought my mom an 08 camry 2.4l 52k miles and it has a ruff idle once warmed up no check engine light but a maintnance required light. Doing : sparkplugs Oil + filter Air filter Cabin air filter What else should i change? Pcv valve? I apreciate the help thanks man
mr nippy nelson to reset the timer: get in car and close door, put key in ignition, press the button in the instrument cluster in and hold down, turn key to run position and watch the odometer blink and reset to zero, then release button and turn car off position. That resets your countdown timer.
Great detailed video tutorial! This is going to be my first time replacing my spark plugs. I'm curious as to what "torque" is in terms of screwing the spark plugs in? Is it the amount of force your using to screw them in?
Absolutely, if they didn’t swap the plugs. You can swap em out no problem. Also the pcv valve if you never changed it already. Check your air filter as well. Good luck any questions I’m around for advice.
Great video, explaining every detail, but you didn't start the car for us, and explained what happens when you replace to new coil packs. I have a 2008 2.4 usa made with BWD E995 new coils. After starting the camry it will idle at 400rpms for about 3-5 minutes.. it feels like its going to stall and it will if you don't do a peddle push to for about 5 minutes. Then it goes to a nice 750 rpm and everything ok. I did also push on trip to reset dashboard. I Don't know if that matters? It's like the camry has to relearn to idol. Not a cert so I 🤷
I just pinned a comment explaining the relearn procedure brother. You don’t always have to do this. But since you mentioned it I thought I should explain the procedure. How’s the car running now? Have a merry Christmas.
No the only time you have to replace them is when they go bad. You’ll get a check engine light when they act up. Glad you liked the video brother. Any more questions I’m always around for help.
Hi thanks for this video , but quick question as I’m driving and accelerating my car starts to jerk and stutter as I try to speed up but is fine if I stay at steady speed doesn’t matter how fast I’m Going but if I give it gas to go faster it starts to jerk and stutter especially on a Hill any help? Please don’t say transmission:(
For better understanding I can put her in Cruise control and she’s fine but say I’m going up a hill which needs more acceleration she starts to stutter and jerks for a quick second untill next gear or speed and then fine again until have to require more acceleration once again
Do you have a check engine light? It can be a whole host of things, like you said coils and plugs, can be a dirty air filter, dirty maf sensor, dirty throttle body, dirty or clogged fuel injector, bad fuel pressure regulator, like you said transmission issues, clogged or dirty transmission filter.
Hey Brutha. My car won’t start. I tested the starter, starter relay switch and crank shaft. They all seem to be working properly. Battery is good as well. When I turn the ignition, it doesn’t make a clicking noise. Any guess as to what may be wrong?
Are you sure the battery has proper voltage? Check with a multimeter and make sure it reads 12.6 or higher. How did you check the starter? Did you pull it? Did you check all battery cables for corrosion including starter wires. Take the handle of a hammer and give the starter a couple hits. Try again and see if it starts. If you turn on your headlights are the lights bright white? If you get bright lights and try to crank it does it go dim? You can have a hood starter with a bad solenoid on it brother. Let me know if any of that helps. We’ll get that Toyota running again.
Yea I took the starter out and used an alligator clip(attached to my car battery) to make sure the starter gear rotated properly. My battery is reading at 11.48 right now. Would the starter gear still rotate if the solenoid was not working?
@@olaraq Another common reason for the starter to spin but not engage is if the starter solenoid is faulty. The solenoid is needed to generate the magnetic field necessary to engage the starter bendix with the flywheel. It's very common for the solenoid to fail but for the rest of the starter motor to still work.
hi MrV2u, hope you can read this post, but I am ready to change plugs on my 2011 Camry Hybrid. I remember someone mentioned that after changing plugs, you have to disconnect the ECU fuse for a few minutes to reset the computer. Is that true? if yes, how to do it? thanks.
I know it’s not needed on a non hybrid. I just disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. Once it starts the ECU will do it’s thing. Let me know how you make out brother.
After I did this and did the idle relearn thing 3 different ways my 08 still idles rough and low. What could be the problem? I was told that it could be my idle sensor
Was the problem there before the tune up? Check engine light on and if so can you pull the codes with a scanner? You can take it to auto zone or advanced auto and they can get you the codes for free.
@@demetreiouschapman4612 recheck the plugs and coil packs, make sure the coil pack harness are plugged in tight. Did it throw a code? You can’t say it’s a idle sensor unless it throws a code pointing in that direction. If it’s worse than before than it could be something overlooked. Maybe a spark plug gap!
Thanks for the comment brother. If I come across a quest I’ll defiantly post a video for you. It’s definitely going to be a tougher job for sure. I’ll be on the lookout for that quest brother.
You can use whatever your comfortable with. I like using iridium plugs. In my opinion they last longer 25% longer. Never had a problem with them in any engine I switched over to iridium. Hope that answers your question. Any more I’m always around for advice.
@@MrV2u DENSO # 3297 Iridium LONG LIFE Spark Plug is Iridium plug. My camry (111k miles) runs smooth especially after watching you PCV valve replacement. I am confused whether should I change the spark plugs because my car is very smooth and powerful, mpg is great. Thanks!
Recommended replacement intervals for iridium- or platinum-tipped spark plugs vary between 50,000 and 120,000 miles. If it’s running smooth. I wouldn’t change anything till you meet those requirements. I changed mine at 80k the first time. The plugs came out looking good, normal wear.
It wouldn’t hurt, and at least you’ll have piece of mind as well. Also check your air filter, hold it up to the light and see if you see through it. If not swap it out as well. You’ll see a little more fuel economy.
I recently decided to replace my spark plugs. same car and all that jazz. the idle was rough and would die when gas was pressed. put the old ones back in and now it is idling rough but driving (also rough). i used both lubricants properly just a different brand. any ideas on what couldve gone wrong? all wires were connected.

Corporal Nerd Turd your going to have to let the car relearn it’s idle settings. Lol stupid as that sounds. Basically get in put on your parking brake, turn the key on not starting the car, then off, on then off, then start the car. Then put it in drive and let it idle there for around 5 mins. It should relearn the idle setting. You’ll hear and see the rpms go up and down then level out. Let me know how you make out brother.

Thank you for share you knowledge good man! my question was how many mile do you have to change the spark plugs? but I found your answer below, you said around 80 k miles, right? thanks again good man!
With iridium plugs I’d go 80k no problem. With anything else you could go 60k. You’ll feel it in the car. Engine shaking, lack of power, poor fuel economy. Glad I could help brother. Any more questions I’m around for advice.
@@MrV2u would you recommend and or consider it safe to change transmission fluid and filter at the 100k service interval? Mind you, that transmission service has never been done. Thank you.
Quick question, do you need high temp anti seize for the new plug installation? I think (could be mistaken) the silver anti seize is standard and copper anti seize is high temp. I wasn’t sure and thought I’d ask. Thanks for taking the time to post the video. Great job!
MrV2u Thanks again for the advice brother! Just got finished. The OEM plugs were worn (but still ok) at 80,000 miles. The anti seize worked well and made installation easier. I tried to use the advice that someone left in the comments about removing all the coil packs instead if in-clipping them. I wasn’t able to because cylinders #3 and #4 wire harness didn’t have enough slack to remove them. I had to un-clip the last 2. One of the clips did break. I placed a zip tie around the base of the coil pack and wrapped a second through the center of the plug around the first to hold it in place. Anyway, I hope this helps someone and thank you again for the video. Take care!....Ken
Ken Brough congratulations brother. I know they become brittle from all the heat and passing time. Zip ties are made just for that reason lol among other things.
A lot of the new iridium plugs don’t need anti seize. Manufactures recommend against it because you need to use less torque when you apply anti seize, it’s much easier to over torque them. Find the torque spec for the plugs which in this case is 18 lb ft and don’t use anti seize, the plugs already have a coating on them.
I’m old school brother I always apply never seize and torque all my nuts, bolts, plugs etc to specs and I never had issues whatsoever my friend. Thanks for the info brother.
At 1:10 you should leave the filter in place until you clean all the debris out of the dirty side of the box. You don't want any of that flying into the air inlet to the engine.
I vacuumed it out I didn’t blow it with air compressor. Nothing went in inlet side of air intake. I did it off camera. Thanks brother for watching and commenting.
Ali Alnaseri it can be anything brother from a pin hole in a vacuum hose to a dirty throttle body. Do you have any codes from a check engine light. There can also be a pending code that doesn’t throw the light on. Go to advance auto or auto zone and have them check the codes for you. They don’t charge for that service.
King Jhon approx how many miles you have on it now? It’s not expensive for parts and free if you do it yourself. It’s not a bad job to take on. You’ll get better gas mileage and your car will run better over all. Let me know if you have any questions.

Definitely all the plugs should be of the same brand. I’ve never had any issues with any car with using a brand over any other brand. To each there own brother.
Your not cartarded you did your research. Someone who is cartarded doesn’t know that they have to change the oil, or goes into the auto store and ask for blinker fluid. Thanks for the feedback brother.

This would be something I’d need to inspect physically. It can be any number of things. I don’t recommend throwing parts at it unless you properly diagnose each part. Causes for the P2430 code may include: Defective secondary air injection pump, Faulty one-way check valve, Defective air control solenoid valve , Defective air pressure sensor, Faulty or damaged wiring, Corroded, damaged or loose connector, or Defective PCM.
Hawerd Barbee your going to have to take off everything. Including wiper cowl, upper intake plenum etc to get to the back 3 plugs. It’s not a easy process at all. If you take your time and label where bolts go including taking pictures for your memory, you can do. Expect to be there a good amount of time, don’t rush it.

Did you notice a difference in acceleration/idling after changing them? Also what mileage did you change them?
Depending on the spark plug type you have, I would recommend every 60k. That is unless you have iridium which can last 80k -100k. Rough engine idle, poor fuel economy, engine misfires, poor acceleration are signs that it’s time for a tune up. Let me know if that helps you brother.
Is it necessary to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery first? Or it doesn’t matter? Thanks so much!
It’s recommended that anytime you disconnect a sensor, computer etc to do so. That’s the correct way. But you might get by in this case. Not a problem brother, thanks for the feedback! Glad I could help.
Thank's for the info. and hands on demo.Good looking out.

U r very welcome MrV2u.I change my air filter to a KNN already I am going to change the spark plugs today. The check engine light came on a is staying on along with the traction control light.I went to AUTO ZONE and got a code reading .For some reason one or more is misfiring. So I will change all 6 of them.U r giving very useful information that will come in handy for me.Keep up the good work.I just subscribe to ur channel.Peace.
thanks for the subscription means a lot, trying to grow the channel as best as I can. What codes did you get? Traction control light shouldn't come on for misfires.
What happens if you don't screw in the spark plugs coil ?? Will it damage anything,??
What do you mean? Bolting it down? If so, while driving the coil pack can move and set off a check engine light or cause your car to hesitate or run rough.
I bought coils, plugs, and cam sensor. Think I can do ok with the plugs and coils but no clue where the sensor is located or how to replace it 🤷♀️
Once you take the engine cover off it’s located just in front of the oil fill tube. You can’t miss it. Leg me know if that helps and how you make out.
You are amazing! Very nice presentation. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment and subscribing brother. I do my best to be thorough. Any questions you can always hit me up for advice.
Good video, but Denso recommends not using anti-seize lubricant on the spark plug threads, as it may cause them to vibrate loose.
Doing :
sparkplugs
Oil + filter
Air filter
Cabin air filter
What else should i change?
Pcv valve? I apreciate the help thanks man
Your definitely on the right track. Do all of that. Let me know how you make out brother. Any more questions hit me up.
It's a 5000 mile timer. For changing oil.. look on you tube to reset it.
mr nippy nelson to reset the timer: get in car and close door, put key in ignition, press the button in the instrument cluster in and hold down, turn key to run position and watch the odometer blink and reset to zero, then release button and turn car off position. That resets your countdown timer.
Just beware those burn oil 1 quart. Every 1,000 mile
Great detailed video tutorial! This is going to be my first time replacing my spark plugs. I'm curious as to what "torque" is in terms of screwing the spark plugs in? Is it the amount of force your using to screw them in?
Jay V if you have a torque wrench it’s 13 foot lbs. or just tighten them snug brother. Let me know if that helps you.
@@MrV2u thank you that helps knowing! I'm new to all this 😅
Once your done you’ll realize your more capable than you know. You got this brother.

Thanks brother, I always use it.
The place changed the coil pack and wires last year but I wanna change the plugs for a tune up do u think it's a good idea
Absolutely, if they didn’t swap the plugs. You can swap em out no problem. Also the pcv valve if you never changed it already. Check your air filter as well. Good luck any questions I’m around for advice.
Very simple explanation
Glad to help. Thanks for the feedback.
Thorough explanation
Thanks Richie
Great video, explaining every detail, but you didn't start the car for us, and explained what happens when you replace to new coil packs.
I have a 2008 2.4 usa made
with BWD E995 new coils.
Great video.Very easy to understand. Do you have to replace those coils the way you replace spark plug wires?
No the only time you have to replace them is when they go bad. You’ll get a check engine light when they act up. Glad you liked the video brother. Any more questions I’m always around for help.
Do u have to disconnect the battery before changing the spark plugs?
The Texas Chainsaw no brother you don’t.
Hi thanks for this video , but quick question as I’m driving and accelerating my car starts to jerk and stutter as I try to speed up but is fine if I stay at steady speed doesn’t matter how fast I’m
Going but if I give it gas to go faster it starts to jerk and stutter especially on a
Hill any help? Please don’t say transmission:(
Please anyone any advice was going to try changing the spark
Plugs and coils
For better understanding I can put her in Cruise control and she’s fine but say I’m going up a hill which needs more acceleration she starts to stutter and jerks for a quick second untill next gear or speed and then fine again until have to require more acceleration once again
Do you have a check engine light? It can be a whole host of things, like you said coils and plugs, can be a dirty air filter, dirty maf sensor, dirty throttle body, dirty or clogged fuel injector, bad fuel pressure regulator, like you said transmission issues, clogged or dirty transmission filter.
@@MrV2u yes ima get a sensor reader and check what it says thanks !
Go to autozone or advanced auto and they will pull the code for you and print it out for free.
No need to gap the plugs?
Most iridium plugs come pre gapped. It doesn’t hurt to double check. Platinum plugs and lower you have to gap them.
@@MrV2u Gotcha
It's very common for the solenoid to fail but for the rest of the starter motor to still work.
my clips cracked as well. wasn't too tough to replace them. dealer sells them for like 10 bucks each.
All the years of heat and cold make the clips brittle. Good to know they sell them, bad for 10 each lol.
hi MrV2u, hope you can read this post, but I am ready to change plugs on my 2011 Camry Hybrid.
@@MrV2u thanks much brother
Awesome. Thanks for this. Great stuff.
You got it brother. Glad to help out. If you have any questions I didn’t answer in the video I’m around for advice.
Great video. Did you have to gap the spark plugs? Or do they come pre-gapped?
It doesn’t hurt to double check the gap brother. Some come pre gapped already though.
Yes it was but not as rough
@@demetreiouschapman4612 recheck the plugs and coil packs, make sure the coil pack harness are plugged in tight. Did it throw a code? You can’t say it’s a idle sensor unless it throws a code pointing in that direction. If it’s worse than before than it could be something overlooked. Maybe a spark plug gap!
Thank you for the ease of your videos, could you do one for a 2008 nissan quest water pump change? Thanks!
Thanks for the comment brother. If I come across a quest I’ll defiantly post a video for you. It’s definitely going to be a tougher job for sure. I’ll be on the lookout for that quest brother.
Hi, I checked that 2007 Camry use Denso spark plug SK20R11 (#3297). Why you use IK20 (#5304)? Thanks!
@@MrV2uDo you suggest me change that when it reach 120k miles no matter it still runs smooth? Thanks for the advice!
Did u disconnect the battery, while doing the plugs?
@@MrV2u yes sir. Well just the black cable. The red one stay hooked up. Also thank you so much for the fast response. I have an 8 am class tomorrow and I've been stressing to the max. I think I might attempt replacing the coil packs if it's not able to drive tomorrow with the old spark plugs
@@MrV2u thank you so much! I'll definitely try it out tomorrow. I appreciate the speedy responses!
So Toyota wants 600 for a 20 min tune-up and 20 min oil change SMH. Thank you for this video bcuz I'll definitely be doing it myself

Thank you.
@KARLOZ LOPEZ took the chance and it worked out, thankfully. Thanks for commenting, much appreciated.
THANKS...Great video & very educational (I LIKE)
You got it my brother. I’m glad to have helped. Thanks for the feedback.
Quick question, do you need high temp anti seize for the new plug installation? I think (could be mistaken) the silver anti seize is standard and copper anti seize is high temp. I wasn’t sure and thought I’d ask. Thanks for taking the time to post the video. Great job!
You can use either one. I always use the silver one and never had a issue with it. Thanks for the comment and let me know how you make out brother.
MrV2u thanks! I appreciate the response and the advice.
You don't need any anti-sieze...
ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/anti-seize-spark-plug-threads/
Great job sir I have shaken in my engine why?
Ali Alnaseri it can be anything brother from a pin hole in a vacuum hose to a dirty throttle body. Do you have any codes from a check engine light. There can also be a pending code that doesn’t throw the light on. Go to advance auto or auto zone and have them check the codes for you. They don’t charge for that service.
Thank you very much for responding
No I don’t have any faults code shown
I’d really have to see it first hand to pin point the problem. How many miles you have on it?

mo sal thanks my brother. I do my best to be thorough.
Ive got a 06 toyota camry car wont start after getting my spark plugs changed. How can i tell what was mixed up during the change? And do i only use factory made spark plugs from the dealership?
The brand or where you buy them doesn’t matter as long as it’s the correct size for the car. What exactly is it doing when you try to start it? Crank? No crank? Weak battery? Check all your connections again and check the battery terminals if you disconnected it. Let me know how you make out.
For some reason a number of sources say that you should only use Denso or NGK in a Toyota and all plugs should be the same...
Definitely all the plugs should be of the same brand. I’ve never had any issues with any car with using a brand over any other brand. To each there own brother.
Love the video man I'm cartarded so nice description
Your not cartarded you did your research. Someone who is cartarded doesn’t know that they have to change the oil, or goes into the auto store and ask for blinker fluid. Thanks for the feedback brother.
How do we know what the gapping is? I have a 2007 CAMRY
.044 is what’s required. Most iridium plugs come pre gapped.
I have a 09 Camry 4cyl. 180k miles. Should I also replace the ignition coils with the spark plugs???
If the coils go bad they will throw a check engine light on. It’s not needed to replace them unless they do go bad.
What is the manufacture mileage recommendation to change the plugs?
David Nguyen every 60k brother.
KARLOZ LOPEZ from the dealer it comes with platinum plugs. If you have platinum I’d go every 60k. Iridium you can go much longer.

Can u help me find the secondary air injection system air/bank 1
2007 toyota camry
What codes you got?
P2430 and p2470
This would be something I’d need to inspect physically. It can be any number of things. I don’t recommend throwing parts at it unless you properly diagnose each part. Causes for the P2430 code may include: Defective secondary air injection pump, Faulty one-way check valve, Defective air control solenoid valve , Defective air pressure sensor, Faulty or damaged wiring, Corroded, damaged or loose connector, or Defective PCM.
What is the gap supposed to be on these plugs
.040 to .044 most iridium plugs are pre gapped and factory.
You should check the gap of each spark plug which is .043-.044.
You are correct sir. I didn’t show that part but they were gapped.
Yo I got the one v6 with the plantium cover thing do I have to remove that to get the back plugs? Thank u.
Hawerd Barbee your going to have to take off everything. Including wiper cowl, upper intake plenum etc to get to the back 3 plugs. It’s not a easy process at all.
