I mean, Eclipses are pretty cool. Where I live, more than half of the cars on the street are second hand JDM imports, so we get all the weird Japanese models that most places never even hear of (Toyota Isis, Nissan Wingroad, Suzuki Hustler etc.) including the performance models, but the only American cars that people import here are the stereotypical ones, like Mustangs and Chargers etc. Since they never sold the Eclipse in Japan (or any right-hand-drive markets for that matter), people would lose their shit if you brought one to a car meet here. They'd probably go crazy if you brought one to Japan too.
Did the same thing on psp version of MC3. The last few tuner club races are quite hard however when using an Eclipse, since you'll be racing against Vipers. Lots of restarts needed, though some races with long straights make it impossible for the Eclipse (even fully upgraded) to keep up with a Viper. Best thing is to hope the Ai driving Vipers make mistakes and crash out or an NPC traffic vehicle crash into them.
This game was my entire childhood and I was really into the competitive drift scene online (both tokyo and ATL). I was so sad when you got to tuning and didn't really understand it. There is ALOT of depth to the tuning system as well as driving manual is pretty much mandatory. If you downshift -1 gear from the the top gear you actually get insane speed from just drifting - known as "st8 drft" since you had keyboard to navigate all the time. And then tuning + the down shifting really let you dial in a car. There's also a handful of awd cars, but a lot of people didnt understand the front bias vs rear bias awd (key example was the lancer evo was front bias awd, R34 gtr was rear bias rwd) their tuning followed similarly to this. Also it wasn't uncommon to purposely downgrade tire compound in favor of the drift. For ATL drifting (Atlantas huge highway ring) the fine tuning you would do extended into tire dimensions and suspension setup aside from just the menu tuning. To sum up the tuning -Drift factor is the intensity the car wants to break free and start drifting...too much makes your car just spinout, not enough means you can stall out mid drift or can have difficulty changing direction/angle precisely at low speed. -Traction is basically the amount of perpendicular grip you can remove vs your tire compound level. Its good for if you want the car to slide more if you're completely sideways. This setting is a little more important on awd and fwd drift tunes since those drive types can pull you into a corner while drifting. Remember drifting + downshift = huge speed boost. So you're tuning this to balance speed/control -Friction bias is your front vs rear grip. (far left front, far right all rear) You would typically dial in your drift factor and bias together as they have similar effects...yet very different consequences. For example cranking the Drift factor up and bias all front (left) is basically impossible to control, and when tuned independently almost feel like they do the same thing. BUT what your actually focusing on is that bias is used to tune/lock in your drift angle, drift factor can smooth or increase the response. Sharing tunes and have a tuner was extremely imprortant to the online scene and many of tune sessions were spent when remix online was at its peak. shoutout to the clubs I got to run with (Kaizen drift team, devils racing project, lucky 7's) and so many more. I still remember my first day online being a smart ass challenging the L7's leader to a race on "the D track" in tokyo. Mind you I didnt know tuning, didnt run manual, and just had a fully upgraded supra. The guy lapped me in a 3 lap race. And the rest was history...it took a few months of griding and came back "when i was ready" and we raced again, finally won. Finally...grudges were settles on "Krispy" and "the dome" was an all day affair. something to seemingly simple really was fun with a party. One of my favorite games hands down. A part of me died the day Gamespy shut their servers down.
I've never seen anyone else talk about the drift boosting technique! I found out about it by total accident a few years ago when I was replaying the game, decided to try playing with manual as I now drive one IRL. Was loosing speed mid-drift so downshifted, "too early" I thought as the engine redlined, but the results were insane! My choice of drift car was a bit different then most though, I use the 64 Impala, lol! I joined some free roam servers back in the day near the end of the game's online, but it was just hanging out and showing off our cool rides.
"I think the highways in Atlanta are awful" just gave me ptsd flashbacks to driving an actively breaking down focus 30mph down the 5 lane highway and being honked and swerved at by hundreds of cars lmao

@@RosyMiranto yeahhh I always used to pick the Elise but then when I started using other cars like the supra or the Skyline I just realized that the Elise handling is kinda weird compared so I had higher chances of not screwing up races
@@RosyMiranto thats true but the IS300 will absolutely carry you all the way to Detroit, once you get the 3rd tire upgrade, it actually makes the game trivial and once you get to Detroit then you can win the Skyline and upgrade that completely, when you get the 3rd tire upgrade for the Skyline it makes the Detroit races much easier too as long as you don't crash
I actually did this and didnt know it was even a challenge, i ran my starter car right to the end of the game because throught it i never saw the cost/performance advantage to getting another one
Messing about with the friction bias and drifting around the city with absolutely no rear end grip was pretty fun as a kid, though challenging because it was so easy to spin out
Man I got so good s drifting on this game, I haven't been that good at drifting on any other game. with the saleen s7 I could literally drift the whole map 🤣❤️
The drifting was so good in this game. Still required a decent amount of skill to counter steer and such, but hitting the gas added such a boost to your trajectory it made drift builds actually competitive.
Was pretty funny how you pronounced "Scion". By the way, it's essentially a 2 door Camry, and it's hilarious it ever ended up in any racing games since there is absolutely nothing sporty about it.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME, it's legit my favorite racing game. I know people like Need For Speed, but this was my shit and I can't find another racing game that feels the same way.
Was recommended to me though I don't search for Midnight Club stuff, but was a fun watch. I think the wall flipping cars is due to the bug at high speeds where your wheel sinks into the floor and because walls are actually hollow, your car is slightly tipping the more it comes in contact with the curved wall as it's "in the air." Bike has being broken in MC2 (the only one I played) was something I was expecting, but as I never played MC3, didn't know about the upgrade system which definitely helps with this challenge vs the pink slip system in the previous alteration.
This inspired me to do a similar challenge for Gran Turismo 2, although that's probably easy mode because I have speedrun the japanese version of that game before simply buying a starter supra, winning a race that gives a skyline super silhouette (silhouette "foumula") and then using that car to beat the GT World Challenge. All I'd have to do differently would be to get at least all golds in the b license to win a starter car instead of buying one. But for a 100% run using only prize cars, it could still be interesting. Same for GT4, but GT4 is a much longer game lol
I used the Kawasaki Ninja for everything back in the day, except for races you had to use other types. The ninja is just so agile, and u have unlimited NoS since u can pop wheelies etc on every straight.

aint played this game in AGES!! Recently went back to some old NFS games and seeing ur video and how you mention midnight club 3 was rockstar’s combat against NFS is funny since you use Zone and it’s basically just the Speedbreaker from NFS MW 2005💀 Game def held up better than expected tho❤️
"this car has no grip" well when you've come straight off a front-wheel-drive car and take turns at high speed like a front-wheel-drive car, you kinda get that
It's hard but not impossible, buy the Gemballa GT750 for class B and the only thing class A cars get is extra nitrous, the only hard part is early game
@@m.raihanammarfachrezixpplg7898 You can also get 100%, but the 15 SUV-only races, the 16? Chopper-only races and the 15 Muscle-only races would make it a very, very difficult task, because the prize vehicles you can use for these events aren't good enough
@@ProfileInProcess The best way I can see is to do the unlocked club races first before you continue with the rivals races. I think if I know it correctly, with this method the club races difficulty won't be spiked yet (since rivals is the one that will raise your difficulty). Another thing I think of was to win the Tournaments in Tokyo (since the prize vehicles are slightly better). And also do it immediately after you got the vehicle needed. However, it's quite worrying since I've done this and it didn't work properly
I remember doing a run like this in only using Prize Cars you get through events and man... Alotta the Prize cars are a pain to use without fine tuning.

@@keifcuadras9742 i see i see
@@RosyMiranto yeahhh I always used to pick the Elise but then when I started using other cars like the supra or the Skyline I just realized that the Elise handling is kinda weird compared so I had higher chances of not screwing up races
@@keifcuadras9742 ah okay then, but you can't get Skyline until you complete the Tuners Club which is until Detroit
Totally, i don't remember ever buying cars until the end, apart from the first one.
Dude i have throughly been enjoying your content i love racing games
I was genuinly happy watching all of this. Please do some more challenges on this game! :)
Technically you didn’t buy your first car because they basically gave you the money to buy the fist car lmao but yeah love this video
Just watching old games makes me happy even tho I know I can't play then for whatever reason
THAT LEDGE CATCH WAS FIRE
Alabama native here. Why was he so excited for the bama plate?
Rockstar needs to show love to this franchise again
Was pretty funny how you pronounced "Scion". By the way, it's essentially a 2 door Camry, and it's hilarious it ever ended up in any racing games since there is absolutely nothing sporty about it.
...so?
@@TheSultan1470 Your mama knocking on ma door, she asked
@@shuraamano What, she asked why certain cars appear in games? What a sad life.
The tC is a pretty decent car. Toyota sports compacts have always been mechanically based on their family sedans.
@@b-chroniumproductions3177 It's a great car, but it's NOT a sports car at all. It is literally just a Camry with a coupe body.
13:05 Eden spitin' bars man!
I love the part when you ran into the gas tank, and it said meet Vanessa at the race😂.
I was like I don’t think that’s gonna happen💀🤣
11:10 oh my god I remember bishop causing me so much grief when I was younger 😭
THEY NEED TO PUT COLOR CODES IN ALL RACING GAMES PLEASE
The GT-R Skyline Is the only C-Class Car that can compete / spawn A-Class Cars if it was fully Upgraded
That balloonshop reference though
This inspired me to do a similar challenge for Gran Turismo 2, although that's probably easy mode because I have speedrun the japanese version of that game before simply buying a starter supra, winning a race that gives a skyline super silhouette (silhouette "foumula") and then using that car to beat the GT World Challenge. All I'd have to do differently would be to get at least all golds in the b license to win a starter car instead of buying one. But for a 100% run using only prize cars, it could still be interesting. Same for GT4, but GT4 is a much longer game lol
The editing here is outstanding. Great video.
I used the Kawasaki Ninja for everything back in the day, except for races you had to use other types. The ninja is just so agile, and u have unlimited NoS since u can pop wheelies etc on every straight.
Right, wheelies compensates for the Class D Nitro capacity
This is definitely one of the racing games ever
I started playing midnight club 3 after my older brother stopped playing, a couple years ago. At 31:00 is where I loaded up my brother's save file and started playing. I started with ice and I then went and beat the game several times over. I love this game
This is still the best racing game ever. Im sorry nfs underground 2 fans, i love that game too but this is the ultimate masterpiece! If I could id pay a stupid amount of money to be able to play a remake or at least a good remaster of this game today! Rockstar needs to bring back this franchise
aint played this game in AGES!! Recently went back to some old NFS games and seeing ur video and how you mention midnight club 3 was rockstar’s combat against NFS is funny since you use Zone and it’s basically just the Speedbreaker from NFS MW 2005💀 Game def held up better than expected tho❤️
I mean, the first car doesnt count since its the beginning of the game, the challenge begins only after you've got the first car
That skyline is sick
44:40 Truly a midnight club moment , traffic in this game always gives me a stroke
Man... This game gives me heavy Fast and Furious 1 and 2 vibes
If rockstar made a new midnight club rn that make billions
"this car has no grip"
well when you've come straight off a front-wheel-drive car and take turns at high speed like a front-wheel-drive car, you kinda get that
I remember me and my brother playing this game so much as a kid
Read the title, clicked and liked. I know il enjoy this one.
That’s crazy I never knew ethers was a tuning option as a kid I want to play this again
Next challenge gotta be beating MC3 without any upgrades 👀👀
It's hard but not impossible, buy the Gemballa GT750 for class B and the only thing class A cars get is extra nitrous, the only hard part is early game
You can combine it with no buying cars, but that can only bring you to being an US Champ
@@MedicalBillz only from that point, the gemballa gt750 can even beat a class cars. But unlocking it without upgrading your car... Have fun 😬
God seeing that 78 made me miss my Monte's.
37:50 Baloonshop ❤
It's impressive that people are still talking about this game, I thought i was the only one who enjoyed this game to this day
One of my favourite games of all time!! rocked this on the psp!
I remember doing a run like this in only using Prize Cars you get through events and man... Alotta the Prize cars are a pain to use without fine tuning.
The song you made about can't have this and that is a hit song fr 😂
my god the balloonshop reference took me back
11:55 Jimmy Broadbent following haha
MC3 dub edition remix is my second favorite game of all time, behind To y Hawk’s American Wasteland. Those 2 games were my childhood. I’m breaking out the PS2 tonight and taking a trip down memory lane
with the cuevito ur able to speedrun the game so its quite alright i would say
Dustin, consider playing Midtown Madness. Either the 1 or 2 on PC, or the 3 on the first Xbox. These games are Midnight Club's ancestor.
