There's a lot of fluctuation in mic quality and some questionable writing but I really wanted to wash my hands of this thing so enjoy Bitch.
The "random" license plate names weren't so random after all as it seemingly was referring to the phonetic alphabet which I did not realize because I probably am cognitively impaired
Also I deeply apologize for the war crimes I've committed by pronouncing "vehicles" improperly. I have learned of this grave mistake and am sure to never repeat it as to preserve the natural order.
hygiene first yall
@@cldspd My reaction to that information: static.hiphopdx.com/2013/03/7-50-Cent.jpg
So they removed Escalade but has around Midnight club 3's development...
I did not really notice the quality fluctuations as much, it was audible enough anyway
@@supertype1792 , hey, there is a difference between a challenge and being impossible to play. The Getaway, and The Getaway: Black Monday, as well as Driver 3, they are impossible to play. The pre-nerfed Midnight Club (IV): Los Angeles/L.A. Remix/Los Angeles: Complete Edition is of the difficulty level of the three previous games that I have mentioned, namely, they are needlessly at a high level of difficulty in the game. I do not expect SNES/NSFC Super Mario Kart level easy, but I want to at least have a race where I literally fail before I get off of the starting line. Moreover, the whole point of Midnight Club was to have a racing game that was accessible to the average person, and not to elitist snobs. If I wanted a racing game like that, then I could play some iRacing or the rFactor racing games. However, if one MUST have a difficulty mode like that, then, at the MOST, should be considered as a hidden unlocked difficulty level in the game.
Fun fact there's a racer named Dora and she's part of the downtown and the Santa Monica crew and the license plate she has on her very first car is called explora which is a direct reference to Dora the explorer
The character DOC also has a license plate that’s says“what’s up doc”obviously a reference to loony toons
@@ccxgamerlynx that's correct
dora tha explora
Have you ever seen "rtrypwr"?
That nickelodeon money isn't hitting the same for Dora so she's in the street racing scene
You can really feel in GTA V how much they got from midnight Club LA, probably saved them a lot of time
yup such as the exhaust note of the banshee and how it use to be the exhaust sound for the 240 in mcla
@theyretryingtoweaponizeit1847bro said it looks nothing like gta as someone from “that area” nigga i live in LA the supermall lools jus like the swap meet, the have the forum, downtown la looks very similar and hollywood and the streets like mulholland dr look identical
@theyretryingtoweaponizeit1847are there parts of it you feel that they got correct @ least?
Well they also got LA Noire
LA (and los Santos) is truly one of the rockstar explored and created the most
Ya totally saved them a ton of time as of that wpuld take a lot of time. You have any clue how long it took to make gta v?
We need midnight club talked about a lot again, maybe it’ll catch Rockstar attention
it very likely won't
I think Blackpanthaa made a video about it possibly getting a remaster
@@supertype1792 indeed.
We have been trying for over a decade

Something I think people have not mentioned, is that a lot of the traffic cars in MCLA are just repurposed car models from MC3:DUB Edtion/Remix. Just remodeled slightly to look like non-licensed vehicles. I think a number of them even use wheels you can use for that game too.
I found a lot Camaros and one Lamborghini crusing in city (that part of town in wich Michael had home in Gta V)
Yup. The traffic VW Golfs has Koenig Theory wheels on it.
The traffic Nissan 350Z was reused from Midnight Club 2.
@theyretryingtoweaponizeit1847 isn’t Los Santos a parody based off of Los Angeles?
... no

I honestly loved this game so much. Made so many friends on this game playing online... Lot of drag racing and drift meets my god... such a fun game. Played it in grade 7 - 8 non stop...
It’s an incredible experience.
I'm sad because I was too poor to have xbox live when this game came out so I never got to play the multiplayer while it was still active, despite that I've played through the story like 4-5 times throughout the years, last time I played through was 2022 and the game still holds up incredibly well. It looks good and runs buttery smooth on my Series X, I just wish the multiplayer still worked because of all the times I beat the game I could never get the R8 without multiplayer, it's not fair that GTA4 multiplayer still works but not MCLA.
@theyretryingtoweaponizeit1847 Sure you can't drift like in Forza Horizon or NFS games with drift physics, but if you do max upgrades, stock tires, and manual gear box you can do some pretty big slides, I only ever played single player MCLA but if I figured that out on my own I'm sure there were people doing it in multiplayer. Also GTAO has horrible drifting physics yet people still have "drift meets", so it probably existed in the days of MCLA multiplayer too despite the physics not being great for it.
@@bearrett50kal17 Damn I wish you did experience the MCLA online multiplayer. From my experience of playing online from the beginning and last days of the servers there were good and bad from it. The good was just like PerryLakeAutoHouse has said you can make a lot of friends, join car clubs(made by online players) who compete against other car clubs(drag race, powerslide(drift), circuit elimination, etc) or just show off their car design livery skills, cruise together, fool around and glitch into buildings. The bad experience I've dealt with is when some online players use code modding in online lobbies to create indestructible Austin Martins or Police Cars by teleporting to you and hitting you around(in general annoying you), also they would pull out a modded car to freeze your xbox360. Aside from abusing the mod powers there are players who make some sick looking cars that glow from the body of the vehicle to the rims, ride height of the car can be lower than the original settings, and you can mess with the performance(handling, acceleration, handling, nos) of the vehicle. There was a lot of good memories of playing MCLA, I wish Rockstar brings back Midnight Club.
Fun Fact: Zaxby’s appears as a Sponsor in the final game with some Scenery Restaurants, but Up until 2021 there were No Locations in California at all.
2024, the closest zaxbys to california is in utah
Miss this game so much. So much potential this day and age
It still holds up. As does gta 4. Have em both installed on my xbox one along side gta5 and every xbox one need for speed and MCLA is better. It's still drop dead gorgeous the customization is still fantastic the sound track is still badass ive owned and beaten every mc game and every nfs since hot pursuit 2 and MCLA is still better than modern nfs
@@jessicataylor4071 I already know
@@jessicataylor4071 i thought nfs unbound was fun at first but mcla still beats it
I can remember the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 and Ducati 1098 R being extremely overpowered for their low cost, to compensate for their massively low damage tolerance, and easy to fall off, and taking longer to reset after a crash.
That's why I used agro on them always. Whenever I was in a pinch I used agro to make the bike indestructible or not take damage if I was meant to fall off. Busted out the ZX-14 whenever there was a mission I couldn't beat.
Im pretty sure as soon as I bought the ZX-14 I mained that the whole game and sold the Datsun I owned prior to that
@@dreadhavoc i found out abt this, im still like 6k rep from getting the last bike. Ive js mained bikes this whole time and its so worth it.
This touched me really hard its a nostalgic feel I cant get of me, I just wish this game was brought back to life.
Midnight Club LA had so many cars removed. I wish they had more like Midnight Club 3
So true
Facts!!
Hate it, when it came to SUV's the both Range Rover suck they got rid of trucks.
@@AlexRamirez-sv2dg Fr. If they remaster MCLA, (even though they wont) they should add the cars they cut from the game
@@MC_QbanMissile true I was a fool thinking the complete edicion was going to have extra added cars, like the remix of Midnight Club 3. They just added a few cars that look the same. And they also added a new part of the map.
All do i know that they remove an S15 Silvia(Early Build version) and R35 GT-R, no idea about anything else tho.
What i want for MC:LA is bigger map, At least give us LAX(Airport) dammit.
I'm so glad you said that the first version was hard because, I remember as a child having to restart the races over the course of a week sometimes
Lmao dude months, MONTHS to get that damn game to 97%, and when my little brother was 2 he tripped on the plug wire while it was saving and it became corrupt. ):
I might play the unpatched version on Xenia man. This game was so much more fun when i had to race my ass off for a single win
I still play 3 dub edition remix originally on the PS2 to this day
Love the midnight club series, but nothing hits home like midnight club 2. That game just has an atmosphere like no other, the cut scenes, the cops, everything was just so engaging about it and man, beating Savo was an insane challenge!
Bonus points if you remember the OP cheatcode "rimbuk"! when I was a kid with a skill issue that code was a go-to.
@@chazzcoolidge2654remember howhardcanitbe9?
Nah nothing hits home like Midnight club 1, that game was just super nostalgic and fun as hell when I was little, good ass time
I think you got the part about unused dispatch lines wrong. Those "predetermined names" are in fact the APCO radiotelephony spelling alphabet used by the LAPD (same principle as the NATO phonetic alphabet), meaning they would have been able to read out ANY custom plate you entered - e.g. "ABC 123" would have been read "Adam Boy Charles 1 2 3". The same words can also be found in the GTA V dispatch audio files, and while they were also left out of the game, some modders have been able to use them in police-oriented mods.
I was just checking the comments to see if anybody else knew. That part made me laugh. Lol those would be some really random predetermined license plates.
Another rare CPU racer discovery is that one of the DLC characters Raymond, the South Central Champion that usually has a Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series, Ford Mustang GT Convertible and Buick Riviera, also has a Ford GT as a rare encounter.
Raymond spawns in his GT only if Henry, Hugo and Dave also take part in the same race.
Regarding the difficulty-- When the game first came out, it was so damn difficult that I put it down and never went back. I think that's why this game is more or less forgotten IN COMPARISON to Midnight Club 3. People played it on release, were shocked, and never went back.
True considering the massive difficulty spike from the remix and dub edition of 3. It took me a good while just to get past the first few races of the introduction
Can confirm my brother stopped playing halfway through the game because of it
The fact of the game only set in Los Angeles, get less cars and bikes makes the people give more attention to the third game.
honestly, the jerky camera kinda killed it for me. i have, however, completed it twice, because the good parts of it were really tight, but the cameras totally kill the mood to me. they got it so right on 2 and 3
Fantastic video! Real cool that you placed in the interview as well. Feels good to get that tiny bit of closure.
Thank you for the kind words brother
As someone who was 3 years old when the game came out, I didn't not know about the difficulty patch. Then now it make sense why I find the game to be not as hard as the reviewers said. Nice Video.
I was 3 too lol
I was 13 when I got the game and it was a year old already. I still struggled with it. I'm now 22 and have a huge amount of vengeance for the games I couldn't finish due me being a crap gamer.
I still can't finish it lol I still love the game tho.
Turn steering sensitivity up, it makes the cars handle much better and theres a reddit post that tells you what wheel dimensions to use for best handling. Also changing the tires in exterior section makes a difference too. Hope it helps
i was 1
It would've been crazy adding another whole city as DLC to MC LA. I'm just sad they stopped making these games. 2, 3, and LA were my favorite.
I remember how hard the dub edition tournaments were for me as a kid. going back idk if i just didn't know better but when i played it again years later, it was a piece of cake. man I miss so much within this game.
Wish I knew all of this sooner. Especially the Detroit DLC/MC5 location debocle.
Lord we were brought here by faith. I talked about the detroit dlc rumor briefly in my iceberg vid.
Hey there, I also watched your video about MC LA, very interesting
Rockstar need to make a another midnight club
Great video, a good script, very well researched and the interview was the cherry on top of the cake, keep it up!
Regarding the dificulty changes, I do agree that they should have included a slider or something, but some people just play to relax, without tryharding every race, so making it a bit easier than needed could actually be positive.
BTW don't worry about the mic, I'm just happy for another of your videos.
Preach the difficulty of some of the races are just too hard and it takes me away from playing the game for too long
And you could always just make it more challenging yourself. I didn't use the abilities and upgrades for cars sometimes and it made the difficulty just right
If you want a real challenge, drive only front wheel cars, trust me you'll have a hard time against muscle cars and exotics.
I tortured myself doing this, great cars, terrible top speed.
It was completely unenjoyable before the patch. I'm good at racing games but that game has some very terrible traffic pop in and the insane rubberbanding on top of that made the game not all fun.
I've only ever played the complete edition, explains why I never understood why folks found the game so difficult. Kinda the difficulty slider for random races didn't change the track layouts and chance of police presence though. I like the more spread out "find your own route" checkpoints of the harder difficulty events, but my 64 Impala isn't really competitive with the cars the AI uses on the harder difficulty events.
4:16 Man, I remember watching gameplays of this game and people literally waited the time almost run out before finishing these events, but when I played the game, these events were super hard, so that's why.
Yo, randomly had this suggested to me and I thought it was a great video man! As (somewhat of) a bedroom musician, I also loved that bit at the end where you got Kid Static on a call and hyped up his stuff. I'm mostly into metal music but so many racing games/other games had some really strong influences on my love for music in general. Hope both of you keep hustling and creating.
Appreciate the props brother
Been waiting for this day. Good job
Awesome video and channel in general! I used to play MCLA and all the Midnight Clubs religiously back in the day, so this was cool to see.
Plus, your Burial profile picture shows you are definitely cultured 🤙
just found out a small channel with huge dedication in their video. huge respect to u brother i hope this channel grow up soon
Very entertaining and informative content man keep it up
For the dispatch audio, the phrases such as "Zebra, Ida, Adam", are the LAPD's phonetic alphabet. The audio wouldn't trigger if you spelt out those terms on your plate, but rather they're used to spell out individual letters. For instance, if your plate was "Wazz", the dispatcher was supposed to spell out your plate by saying "William, Adam, Zebra, Zebra". There were probably numbers recorded that never got added to the game due to the feature being scrapped. It was most likely scrapped due to it potentially being unnecessary, despite being very realistic, or it was too difficult to make it work properly. I know in GTAV, some LSPDFR addons have this feature.
man went all out for this video and I appreciate it!
Love the video bro keep it up!
I don't often comment on yt vids but I just wanted to drop some praise - I absolutely love the soundtrack to this vid (X, No More Parties, love for the Pharcyde, I think I heard Bad Religion in there?) and the overall secondary focus on music - the interview with Kid Static especially was super fucking cool, and totally unexpected for this kind of video. I feel racing game soundtracks (most especially in this era and subgenre) don't get enough credit for their impact on overall presentation, and especially, their ties to respective subcultures and how that ties back into car culture. i haven't watched the full interview yet, will definitely be checking it out, but in the meantime I hope you wind up making more content talking about music and the music industry. Cheers!
Great video, attention to detail, and research. Major props
thank you brother
Production and entertainment value is 10/10. Love this game and the discussion around music, subbed!
appreciate the kind words
Amazing video!! I also really love mcla and the nostalgic vibe to it inspires me as a musical artist! And you put me on to Drinking in LA with this video. That song is awesome. Stay blessed and keep making videos you’re amazing ❤️🙈
After years of having my eyes on it but the game being concole exclusive I play the complete edition on RPCS3 now which runs pretty good. However it runs way better on Xenia, way more FPS and easier on the hardware ( RPCS3 is more CPU bound, Xenia uses more GPU which fits me better). When the game released in 2008 I downloaded the amazing OST and its so nice to finally hear it in this enviroment :)
I'll have to download Xenia

i saw this video like a month ago and thought "wow what a cool up and coming creator", and it wasn't until now after watching some of your old nfs videos on your main channel that i found out that you were grandtheftaero and i had already been following you for a number of years.
awesome video btw!
The plate names was probably for reading the individual letters as words (can't remember the name) since radios can be hard to understand. The word said represents the letter that it starts with
there are no audio lines for the dispatchers reading out certain letters. plus that would've been obnoxiously drawn out dialogue to hear on a police radio inside of a fast paced racing game
@@supertype1792 They match up pretty well with LAPD phonetics - I think they were removed for being annoying like you said, which might explain why some letters are missing. Don't really need to keep the audio if it's going unused!
Awesome video dude
Thanks

I love this !! Good job man !!!
Spectacular editing my friend.
I almost knew nothing about these facts expect for the demo mode (which I knew about from an older video of yours)
The video has lots of effort in it and I really like it! I also liked that Midtown Madness was briefly mentioned, since I used to play it back then as a child before Midnight.
I advise you be careful with tracks however since YT is very strict and thet can easily just take down ur video.
I also love ur sense of humour, its very similar to mine (I thought it was weird)
Hey man this was a great video and a great interview
Great video! The editing was very well done, and your insights into the minutiae of music licensing was interesting to learn about. One area you could potentially improve upon is the script; there were a few awkward lines, but that didn't detract from the video too much. Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future!
so much you can do when english isn't your native tongue. regardless, i did admittedly somewhat rush this out (didnt think so many people would see it) and therefore had to settle for some of the junior writing heard in the video 🥴

Hey man not even done with the video but just wanted to drop this comment let you know I’m enjoying it, got my sub keep it up mcla 2,3, & LA definitely played a big role in my childhood
They should remake this game, add BMW's, add the SFvalley (with malibu canyons), the east side, and expand south central.
It seems to me that a midnight club LA remaster was a trick or a mistake. But I still think that it's because of gta remastered, which ended up being very bad. It was rumored that they will also make GTA 4 and Max Payne Remastered. And maybe, in my opinion, they wanted to announce that there will be a remaster from Midnight Club LA, but they changed their minds because of the reviews from gta vice city, 3 and san andreaas. Btw, the GTA 4 will be delayed because of bad reviews of the remastered edition but idk if the max payne will be too.
Max payne is getting a REMAKE by remedy. Not a remaster, the ones that are shelved now are gta 4 remaster and red dead redemption 1.

So... You are telling me that my complete edition, wich made me swear and swear for it's high difficulty, it's a toned down version from the difficulty of the 1.0 version?
DANG.
Dude, I was playing MCLA a couple weeks ago with the first person cam, and while I was cruising I noticed that the clock & odometer moving in the older cars and the numbers changing in newer cars(I used the mk1 golf and the corvette). I tested it at the santa monica garage going from the garage to the gas station, which I found out was about a mile, and it actually changed. I also tested if it changes if you get 2 of the same car( I used corvettes), and it sadly stayed the same, but it's still a really cool detail that I'd never seen anyone talk about.
I do miss playing that game I don't remember what happened to my copy of it but the car customization in that game was excellent.
Oh man, I remember designing lots of liveries for Rate My Ride(or something like that?) and cruising around the beach in online, back when PS Home was still live.
I haven't played much online stuff since then and honestly am not quite sure why - those were the days.
Ps home… you just unlocked a memory and a half 😂
I first played this game when I was 6yrs old back in 2009. Now I'm 20. Wth. Time flies man. Still one of my favourite games of all time
beautiful ending, the charm of a true youtuber
Imagine a Midnight Club: London... always wet and raining, dark and foggy, all the small winding roads in the city and the motorways/country roads surrounding it. Lots of supercars and all the boy ricers in their Honda civics at 3am. Always dreamed about that game being a reality.
I loved Midnight Club LA though, every time I hear "electric feel" I get teleported back to the good old days.
Try Midnight Club Street Racing. It featured London.
The "NFSUCKS" licence plate reminds of the Easter Egg Rockstar put in GTA: San Andreas where one of the cars in the Import/Export business in San Fierro had a plate readin "EASUCKS" - haha!
oh wow forgot about that one. shouldve mentioned that. shucks
The game does seem a bit easier than I remember. Back in the day when I had the 1.0 version of the game, the hardest difficulty races were intimidating to me, avoided red races altogether because they were so difficult. Nowadays, as I got a brand new disc, I try to beat them with some of the slowest cars. I could very easily beat many races on the hardest difficulty with the 240SX. Some races are still not so forgiving of that though at least.
Another thing I wanna mention. Interestingly, the G35 does appear in MCLA Remix but it's not driveable and it can only be seen in a garage interior on the Tokyo map. Obviously reused from MC3 Remix but they actually took the time to change the color of the car from blue to white for some reason.
I just have to say. I played hundreds upon hundreds of hours on MCLA and was a rather popular livery designer for a lot of F&F cars having very high accuracy. However, I DO NOT at all remember the city tunnel.. like at all.. was it removed or extended with the South DLC? I cannot remember driving it ever… super weird
nope, was always there. you seem to be suffering from a strong case of the mandela effect my friend
Insane! Awesome video!!! 😵😵😵
2 months late but dang my guy quality content first vid from you safe to say new sub
Man, I could have sworn this game was a lot harder when I played it as a kid. Now it makes sense considering I didn't have internet back then so I never got the patch.
One of my favourite racing games, needs to be remastered asap!!!
Solid vid subbed
you've gotten damn good, gtaero
eh
Also, the exotics have a low variety of opponents, when compared to the R8 and to the motorcycles.
Almost every race with a maxed Lamborghini has you up against two Ninja ZX-14s (or a Ninja ZX-14 and Murcielago Roadster) and an R8.
I didn’t even know some of these myself, although the license plate on my S7 has “MDNTCLB”
Also, do you know why the preset/delivery Murcielago has white turn signals?
Another thing, what bodykit does Raymond have on his CLK 63? I noticed its something that you can't equip
These were the best racing games hands down. It amazes me they never made another one
That intro was raw
I hope Midnight Club: Los Angeles Remastered doesn't become like the GTA trilogy.
I still have the psp version and the xbix 360 complete edition. And hearing the theme gave me nostalgia and make me wanna play this game again
damn son, finally uploading new content
