For future reference, wheels, tires and the respective ride height of the car affects the handling. Lower rim sizes, more tire profile or a lowed ride height can circumvent stability issues when it comes to flipping
From what I remember (and these might just be old message board rumors), this game has a dynamic difficulty system. The more races you lose, the lower the difficulty gets. You'll start to notice less traffic and the opponents get slower. The thing is, you actually need to lose the race for it to adjust. If you restart the race, it doesn't change. Also, the wheelie bars actually help your launch, so it's a good idea to use them.
That was always the toughest thing for me was actually finishing out races and taking a loss instead of restarting all the time. Made the game more manageable once I humbled myself to take L's lol
@@Shinny1338I didn't test with every single muscle car, but the wheelie bars help when launching the car, it doesn't get the wheelie locking your handling
IIRC the reason you can beat supercars with D-class cars is because the difficulty also varies based on how the start of the race goes. If you struggle at the beginning, the other racers will do worse than if you just drive real good
2:15 - I learned from my recent stream playthrough of MC3 that the *Roar* power-up IS negatively affected by using the 60 FPS cheat patch. I tested it out during my playthrough and discovered that the power up is MUCH more effective when running the game at its native 30 FPS.

When he said he wanted to beat the entire game with the impala, I prayed for him, I remember as a kid being soooo upset at the traffic ai as it seemed to ALWAYS get in the way and cause me to restart the race
while the Caramel Cadillac CTSV has been a king of slowest D class car challenge for a while, the Purple Pimp Chevy Impala '64 is now the king of starter cars challenge EDIT: ok now I'm looking forward for Hummer H1 challenge
This game has so much amazing replayability value it's insane it's my favorite racing game of all time and I honestly don't know if I became too good at it or something is wrong with the game but it became too easy for me and have learned that each car has a quirk and learning how to take advantage of it is the best way to get an easy win and you earned a new subscriber wishing you all the best from Saudi Arabia
I find it coop how the Wheelie Bar actually serves a beneficial purpose. You launches are much more stable. Something GTA 5 could learn from. Functional wheelie bars
Literally reliving my childhood through this. When I had this game, I loved the Impala so much, (and still do) that little 6 year old me was determined to beat it with that slow ass car lmao
If i remember correctly, the game's locked at a 30fps cap 'cause of the car npc's(more npc = lag), this fps cap manages to make the game a little bit more easier in the real console (more slower opponents, less traffic, and much more faster launch). I manage to finish the game like in this challenge(starter car only), but with the Monte Carlo (less top speed, but a little bit more handling and accceleration at it's max upgrade).
Ironically when I was younger this is how I beat the game lol. My cousin progressed with the SRT4, the Viper, & SL55. I bought the Impala as my starter & I beat every single race with her. Used to put the biggest widest rims smallest tires & lowest height. I was constantly using slipstream drifting & roar. But even against the exotics I gave them a run for their money. If you’re skilled enough you can go through the game with a single vehicle, even a D class one.
I use that car and end up winning the whole race and beating the game I use the special ability was very useful to move the cars and racers out of the way
The reason the roar was weak with the impala is it’s just more effective against certain types of cars. Trucks are virtually unfazed by it for example.
i just found this video while just finished this game for the 5th time (1st complete on the emulator) and i can confirm that last san diego races was brutal (even worse than in ps2) the road are packed with traffic, ai constantly crashing into you/boosting out of nowhere/scripted ai are more inconsistent. im doing the normal run but i can't imagine the pain of using a MUSCLE D CLASS on these final races, even the F1 LM feels super hard. props to your patience, man 😂
I played this game a lot as a kid. It was my favorite. But try customizing the size of your tires, it will help with grip or drift. big rims and thin tires will flip the car a lot and if you lower the car too much it will be harder to turn. Oh yeah if my memory serves me correctly I think you can replenish your nitro if you go trough a gas station or drifting
The impala was my first car on my first playthrough. I just found my old PS2 and I'm about to start playing this again. Thank you for this awesome idea and the Nostalgia overload
I really love this game and used to play it so much that once I tried a similar challenge, no spending wich not only means beating the game just with the starter but also not upgrading any of the price vehicles, you can imagine the struggle but in the end it was fun to have quite a challenge since the ai isn't as easy as in other racing games
Didn't get to tune into the last stream. Saw you were in the champ races while I was at work though. GG on the run. May have to try this one myself. I know YoItsDare has done an IS300 run as well
Dove once again uploading my favorite sort of videos lol, I really like these challenges to be honest. I like seeing you go against the odds, it's super fun to watch. Another well done video, simply amazing!
I have the PS3 version of MC3, the ROAR is actually the most OP thing in the game because it makes every single driver swerve to an almost 180, so the 60fps patch might be the culprit of it being so shitty
Fun fact about Class A, there are two gaps in it. The super Class A is the six exotics that face themselves, while the low Class A is the AI in early Detroit, that R34 GT-Rs typically face.
Currently watching this vid on a different screen and I'm surprised that you haven't messed around with your rims and made them a little wider to help with stability and ad a bit of drifting to your car. The craziest car I remember on the game was the 02 skyline that car was a beast of a car to race it even kept up with the class A vehicles
@@DoVe_7 with how old the game is I'm not surprised. oh yeah if you end up doing another video with just one car and you have roar use it on the cops it will save you a lot of time

I remember this game far too well when people used the drift glitch in every race. Once i learned how people did it i pretty much stopped playing the game. One of my buddies played it a lot and used auto strictly, respectable considering it was easier to find drift glitchers than non drift glitchers. I respected people who didnt cheat a lot lot more. My favorite car was actually the Saleen.
This game is very fun to play with a force feedback wheel also, though you need to turn the wheel range down to like 210 or 180 degrees because this game is so fast.

26:06 so your not wrong about the traffic being worse the later in the game. In some cases there are scripted cars which are basically only there to mess up the racing lines. Learning to adapt to road conditions and traffic along with risk reward analysis when it comes to blind corners.
I haven't played this game in a very long time but I remember the AI being hell to deal with at times. I had no idea that weather or certain car modifications actually made a difference in driving characteristics. It may be time that I dust off my PS2 and pull this game out again lol
