I've always been saying that while Horizon 2,3,4,5 improved upon the gameplay, Horizon 1 had the perfect "Horizon festival" feeling. A feeling the newest games really lack!
Yeah, Horizion 1 feels like you rise to the top of the festival and you get a good sense of accomplishment from that. All the rest got it in their head that "You're the boss of Horizion" which doesn't translate to anything, 3 maybe had the most input from you on how the festival ran. And that was just unlocking new zones. You feel useless at worst, or not quite the stature you should at best.

I’ll admit I’ve never played horizon 1 (impossible to find discs in AU for some reason) but horizon two and three, though lacking some gameplay features of the newest two are FAR superior than 4 and 5, this is of course, excluding graphical fidelity, the new games just feel like mindless grinding and have no sense of progression.

One of the things I hate about FH4 and FH5 is how fast you get money and can buy hyper cars in the first 30 min of game play. It'd be fun to see you play a version where everything costs 10x as much as normal or something like that!
Horizon 1 had such a fun vibe to it, especially liked how each wristband tier had a Champion of that specific tier who would show up in random races as an opponent that you'd get extra credits for beating, and they'd mock you at the start of the race, then eventually challenge you to a one-on-one race with their car as the prize once you got too big to ignore. The only thing that I found particularly sad was that all the champions that you defeated prior to Darius Flynt don't show up in his Tier as revenge opponents in the final race prior to his 1v1 with the player. Would've been fun, something similar to Need for Speed: Carbon where Wolf, Angie and Kenji show up as final opponents before Darius Also driving Red Rock Canyon in that game eclipses practically any other racing game driving experience ever, period
I come back to this game multiple times a year ever since the release of it all the way back in 2012! This has always been my favourite horizon game and I've gotten 100% essentially every playthrough apart from the online stuff which has essentially been dead for years sadly. It's an amazing game!
The lower tier cars feel more realistic imo, at least on a whee and I stick to FWD most of the time. Once you start going supercars, handling leans too far into arcade territory. My kingdom for a open world street racer on Assetto Corsa Competizione's handling model.

This is my favorite Forza game just for the reason, that there is street racing in it. The concept of winning 10 races for the chance to get a really cool car is amazing. And I was actually quite lucky back then. The LFA was already my favorite car, and it isn't in every game. Just by accident I actually won it through the street racing. Amazing times. Actually made me almost cry. On my latest playthrough I actually went and crushed all 100 signs before even starting the game for real. It was annoying being called after a few minutes just to get insulted why I am not racing, but I just didn't care at all.
I've once managed to beat this game without buying or upgrading cars but with allowing myself to use already upgraded cars on insane difficulty and no assists and it was insanely fun. Definitely recommend.
As someone who has played all Forza Horizon games only with stock cars, yes. I would dare to say it's even easier than maxing them out since every car has a "feel" to it, which you can easily get used to
seeing this game i like how you are not showered with cars upon cars upon bonus spins upon messages upon more stuff, I started with Horizon 3 and still think that it was the best that i played, 4 and especially 5 were massive sensory overloads. Your struggle with the upgrades was delicious and fun
I think you should get an RGH'd 360. You can add DLC to it using a USB and you can avoid visual glitches for the most part. Also please use setup manager...just one click and boop! Back to stock.
FH1 is still the best Forza in terms of Atmosphere, nothing else comes close to the Festival Vibes and honestly it just feels wrong to me to drive without the Radio on while I always turn it off in the newer games. My biggest regret is not getting the DLC when it was still available, some absolutely fantastic gems in there like the Joss JT1 and Devon GTX which unfortunately haven't reappeared in the franchise since.
I remember playing this and i managed to beat the whole game on very hard except 2 events. The 90's muscle car event, and the final race with darius. No assists or anything. The biggest problem is nothing in the game prepares you for the 1vs1 race with Darius. He is a different beast on very hard. Well done on this challenge.
I’m glad I had the privilege of growing up with FH1, even if it was a little later. It was the 1st game I ever beat, and the 1st 360 game I ever played. I used to post videos on an old YT channel. Good times.

The Trueno is lighter than the Miata due to not needing the mechanicals and reinforcement for a convertible top, as well as having macpherson front and live axle rear suspension, compared to the MIata's double wishbone all around. So while the Miata seems smaller with its 2 seats, it's entirely packed with control arms, chassis braces and folding canvas while the Trueno is a hollow box with simple suspension.
I always played the horizon’s series with stock cars. But because of the wheelspins I managed to have some of the good cars in the game. Also: top hard difficulty
this game and so much more character, replay ability, feel and fun compared to other horizons, hard to see how they went backwards, this with a larger map, more cars, tuning, the playlist expansive online would be a much better horizon than the past ones after the first, also you can remove all upgrades in one go with the setup manager using the pause or select button on the controller
Hey, if you are going to be playing again, go into the xenia config file and set the draw_resolution_scale values to 2 or 3 depending on your gpu, and that will double or triple the game resolution, making it a lot sharper :)
One thing I really want to see, is James Variety once again denying you at the Gran Turismo race office like that special GT4 livestream. I never laughed so hard at one of the intros as that one :D
FH3 was the final good game in the horzion series. Its like theyve given up, especially when it comes to the radio. FH3 had THE BEST tracks where as in 4/5 theres 2 seconds of pure silence bleeping put foul language.
That last race was such bs - I have deliberately plowed Darius into things to get an advantage and he always rubberbanded back...how did you get him to stay back?
I thin it fits with the spirit of the game if you don't buy/install any upgrades. If a car already comes with them, consider that stock, as that is how the game gave you the car.

honestly, if a car comes "pre-upgraded" i'd let it go because while the car was upgraded, you didn't upgrade it so it doesn't count.
you should've used the upgraed version of the emulator, xenia canary. it eliminated almost all issues with the game you experienced here.
