All this makes me so excited for what's to come with both games! So cool that both games seem to be doing what is best for the genre as a whole - great to see! ❤🔥Also new Diablo class sounds awesome!
👆Dude has never heard of Runescape, Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Fallout(1,2,Tactics) Fallout New Vegas, any Nintendo game ever, etc.......... quite literally Pokémon games have been outdated since their second iteration 😄 people still play the "Scyther" out of those.
@bearwitty9690 you're a bot. all diablos except immortal are the best games ever made and nothing else comes close. pipe down about path of shitile too.
I’m tired of the comparison between these two games. I play both. Not every live service game is going to be good ALL the time. These are still two very different games and I take them for what they are at face value and play whichever is FUN for me at the time. No need for bashing. Thanks for a positive video on both games!
Poe1 has been the standard for arpgs for a while and yet GGG are still the only ones doing things correctly and actually listening to player feedback. They’re smart and know what they’re doing, operating in a smaller group of passionate people seems to be the best thing that they have going for them compared to other studios attempting the genre
It's curious that PoE 2 seems to be moving in two direction -- they're reducing complexity and moving toward the "D4" end of the spectrum even as they introduce the "you're going to die for sure" style of encounters into the content. It sounds very exciting and I suspect that they're just moving the complexity to other parts of the game rather than actually reducing it, and introducing convenience to parts of play that have become outdated and less onerous in terms of accessibility.
Awesome explanations. That's exactly what is happening. I also noticed the trajectory of both games and how they're bound to meet in complexity sooner rather than later. It's overall a good thing though. Both adjusting and aiming towards what their audience wants.
Zone resetting and item disappearing sounds pretty good to me. It makes dying matter. Have gone through PoE many times by just throwing myself at the boss or at a zone. As long as I took some life off the boss or killed a few mobs, I would eventually succeed. The exp loss was perfectly manageable with this tactics. So making death give a you a complete reset ensures you can't do this anymore.
Loot Reborn really set up D4 to be a superb game down the line. Probably one of the best things they could have done to march it in the right direction. A year ago I was meh but now, I'm actually excited to see that Season 5 and beyond looks like. Now, if only they would fix the main issues with Druids/Rogues, give us more stash space and knock out the weighting of the affixes thru enchanting and tempering, we might be cook'n with a helluva amount of grease. 💪
4:00 The bigger reason people don't use ultimates on most classes is because they do less damage than basic skills. Same with core skills. Moonrise, Rapid, and Adaptability aspects come to mind. Thats the biggest reason.
There are plenty of builds right now that are not basic skills build in Season 5. Right now, Infernal Hordes is the meta, and if we look at the four S-Tier builds: - Lightning Spear is a Conjuration, which we throw out via the Conjuration Skill as well as spamming a core skill, but the actual damage comes from a proc of a legendary aspect - Landslide throws the Landslide core skill to proc the actual core skill that does the damage which is Lightning Storm - Andariels Rogue does damage via a proc from an item and triggers it with a core skill - Heartseeker is however a Basic skill build All four of them use ultimates for utility. If we look into A Tier, most of them are getting their damage from something that is not a basic skill. Sometimes it is a core skill, sometimes some other skill further down the tree, sometimes the damage is a proc from an aspect, triggered in various ways. Season 4 was definitely much worse in that regard, basic skill builds were everywhere. They adjusted tempers and reworked all the uniques which led to the resurgence of other builds in the meta. And if we compare Heartseeker from last season - which was just spamming the Basic Skill, end of story - the current iteration uses Shadow Imbuement on the Rain of Arrows Ultimate mixed into Heartseeker Basic attacks together with Paingorgers to get AoE clear, which is a much more elaborate setup. However it is absolutely right that ultimate skills as a main damage source is just not really a thing right now. Which is why we finally will be able to put skill ranks into them in Season 6. Wudijo is already planning builds for Rogue, one of them uses Death Trap Ultimate, the other one the Rain of Arrows Ultimate as actual damage sources. We'll have to wait and see if those actually turn out good.
11:16 me and my girl play on the ps5 for D4. While she is at work I will log her character in and use the skellies to power level myself. It’s the tether effect you were describing.
I prefer playing with a controller after doing so in D4 and last Epoch, looking forward to trying it in POE2. It would be nice to see your opinion on where Last Epoch is on the difficulty and Complexity sliders you have here.
You know what I'd like in D4? More character slots. I just want to make more builds lol. Thanks for making these videos. They're very much appreciated.
2:00 What is striking to me here is that the number of returning players for PoE is roughly the same throughout, while D4 and LE numbers diminishes. Just an observation, I don't play PoE. But it says something about quality.
Returning players is typically increasing year over year actually. I just got two friends to try out PoE who never really played it, they previously played D3 and D4 but never touched PoE because of the complexity. I asked them what they liked about D3 or D4, what classes they played, gave them a solid build guide and they’re now working on T9+ maps and are having an absolute blast. One is playing a Necromancer build where he has 60+ minions at times and the other a lightning arrow gigachad.
@@ToxicOsOk 60 minions is insane. That's one thing that speaks to me about PoE, doesn't seem restrained skillwise like D4 and LE. Teleporting without cooldown with no cooldown, for instance, which is amazing lol.
Weeeell, technically: PoE2 is mostly removing unnecessary complexity while keeping, and in the case of the skill gems and life nodes, improving the depth. Not having to care about socket numbers, socket colors, etc. means you'll actually have more combinations and a more engaging gameplay (hopefully). Removing the life nodes makes you less constrained when it comes to pathing on the tree, giving you more choices and potentially more cool interactions to discover and abuse. They are working hard on making UI improvements and they are planning on "hiding" some of the options from new players, so that they don't get overwhelmed by having a choice between 50 support gems for your skills and not having an idea what you're supposed to pick. They are leaning more into class identity to onboard players as well. Hopefully that won't limit build diversity. Also, difficulty depends on game knowledge to some extent. PoE2 might seem difficult now, but by next year, it will be as faceroll as D4 and PoE. It might be easier than PoE 1 even, due to a better control scheme and less "fake difficulty". When it comes to popularity moving forward... Honestly, I expect the D3, PoE and Grim Dawn situation to repeat unless mtx in Diablo 4 does well enough that the corporate machine decides to keep it going. Also, hearing Blizzard polish in 2024 is just funny. They haven't done the "when it's ready" thing for more than a decade now. They have 0 banked trust left. It's the same: Trust us, this time it's good. And it ends up being meh at best. But we still keep giving them money for some strange reason. X.x
My issues with D4 is build variety and Items really don't mean anything. At least for me personally. In similar vein to D3 where if an item gives you green numbers, I equip it. Doesn't matter if it had affixes for other classes. Even 'Loot Reborn' Didn't change that. I just can't get into D4 because of this. Also, I despise the fact that build variety is tied through items. If I want a Pet build for my Druid, I would have to have an item that enhance wolves. Also Blizzard stated that they are going back to D2 roots. I didn't see it. What I enjoyed about D2 is that you can focus on making the build you want and THEN find items to enhance that build. The expansion for D4 won't sway me either way. It won't fix the issues I have with D4. I'm so looking forward to POE2.
I'm reaally hoping they add elements from the current POE league (the town management) to POE 2..it feels so good and I just love little things like that to break the monotony of grinding
I`m just happy about VoH and PoE 2 coming about month and a half from each other so i`ll be able to play both. D4 for a month and half is more then enough time to do everything in the season and then switch to PoE 2 for for a month and a half and repeat. Thats just healthy competition where people can enjoy both games
I don’t know if PoE2 is going to be less complex than PoE1. I think they’re bringing a lot of QoL to allow more complex and in-depth systems. Being able to use both weapon sets and having the passive tree and weapons swap to the correct one on the fly adds a HUGE amount of complexity not in either game. Having multiple six links again, adds way more complexity than finding one skill to build around. I would go as far as to say the improved and easier respec system is necessary because the game is way more complex which will allow players to experiment more easily.
I think that's a very fair take. Jonathan Rogers said he was trying to remove the needless complexity, while retaining the depth. Its a convoluted topic once you dive into it, but agree with you. I think they are doing a great job of getting rid of needless complexity (aka socket colors) in order to accommodate more approachable depth (multiple 6 links etc)
you right they aren't dumbing down the game they are smarten up the players from what I hear from interviews, the ease of respect is big. I am getting to play around with stuff this league and actually learned more about builds vs Trying something out brick'n and never trying something ever again
Do you think that the couch co-op camera controls are better than D4? The active camera in D4 constantly moves based on who input last and it's aggravating when i play with my fiance, especially with the ground clutter and graphics. PoE2 appears to be closer to D3's camera where it zooms in and zooms out rather than move the focus based on the character that last moved or attacked (at least from my understanding of using it).
Only thing that still bugs me about POE2 that D4 gets right, is the lack of character customization and the fact they still gender lock their classes like its a 1998 Korean mmo.
As someone who uses Starlink because I live in a remote location, all I want is an offline mode for POE2. Last Epoch is my go to ARPG because of this. My Internet just doesn't allow for constantly online games sadly.
@@PremiereGore must be nice. Every 10 min or so my Starlink will lose connection for like 10 seconds while it switches satellites but it's enough to kick me from any online game
I really, REALLY appreciate this video. The vitriol thrown Diablo III's way back in the day made me almost not want to even try PoE, because fans of PoE were just jumping into Blizard message boards, puking all over the place and running off. Or worse, staying to pick fights with people who still liked Diablo III. It's okay to like more than one game, It's Okay to like Diablo III, IV, PoE, or other ARPGs. Grim Dawn and Titan quest are both still very very much worth playing in 2024, and there's a few other good ones out there too. I am looking forward to both the D4 xpac and PoE 2 now.
I don't really agree that poe2 is going to be less complex. I think instead the designers are simply trying to remove or reduce unnecessary points of friction. Although, granted this is a bit of semantics.
To the PC elitists who actively tried to gatekeep people like me from having the mere *OPTION* to play with a controller with native controller support: You lost :)
LOVE playing my PC games with a controller reclined like a lazy bastard on my couch or bed lol Also love my Logitech G13 + mouse (despite trying out alternatives, the G13 is just.. better. I dont look forward to when it dies) My keyboard is basically just for typing at this point I want controller support in basically every game I play though. Its comfortable, IDGAF.
I'll probably end up playing both, at this stage moved on from POE because resetting skills is just too tedious, I hate following guides, so I usually play, and build as I play, if I mess up, D4 is easy to reset skills and try something different while POE is a bit too punishing on that end, glad to hear POE2 will allow reskilling to be easier.
ahh the power of having competition to keep you honest. Good job GGG you're the ones that is making D4 good lol. You're inadvertently developing 2 games.
POE has always been a game I wanted to play BUT I change builds like underwear and the no respec thing always kept me away. Now I look forward to playing Poe
You can now respec with gold in POE 1..and the new league is soo good with the base management. I just went back to it after 10 years away and now am mad I haven't been playing this whole time
I don't think you understand complexity. Giving players more skills is not complex, it's bloat. D4 is simple and is not moving toward complexity, it's simple and will stay simple because the interactions between skills and passives are no more complex than "do more damage with crit" or "do more damage with vulnerable". PoE is and will always be complex because there are 16+ ways of changing skill behaviours that may eek out more damage in various ways against various things. What D4 is doing is trying to hide the simple game with obtuse loot locations and an overflooding of resources. PoE is trying to make its complex game look and feel more digestible and not a nightmare game requiring 4-7 third-party programs to understand. I see this common misunderstanding often and hope this helps you put things into a proper perspective.
Would defenetly add MMO concepts to it. Since MMOs have good things as well, and their popularity is decreasing. I Would like to have battlegrounds and arenas. More depth in the PVP with seasons as well, not only PVE.
It can't be too terrible otherwise nobody would be playing these games. If you ran the new season content on your already lvl'd character you would be bored in a day
D4 don’t have any skill interaction like POE2 (gas + fire = explosion) and it’s not getting more complex every season because they remove old season mechanics every time. 🤷♂️
@@Rick.is.Young. holy shit bro i didnt know this! that's great! they should also add infinite dodge and dige cancel like POE2 will have. Combat looks exceptional !
I like arpgs but hate it when characters get so OP that 95% of the interactive gameplay options mid-combat become obsolete. Combat in D4 is unironically much more interactive at levels 20-50 than it is once you get OP and only spam 1 skill anymore. It's straight up mind-numbing. I'm wishing for an arpg with interactive combat tactics similar to GW2
@@Arkrilok no just the ones who purchased it, didn't like it and spent over a year whining when whether anyone likes something is subjective. Talk about miserable idiots
And regarding the loot, you have to fight and loot at the same time, i know you say you like a challenge, but try add 50 years onto yours, and than see if you would say the same, its not youst young people that play, and the young people like you, just cant fathem when some are "complaining", because you see it from your view point, and do not think OH he could be like 70+ years old playing... And than just think, ah fork off, its not that hard... So please for the love of satan, stop sitting on that high horse, and think every one is young, and should just be able to do it all, because you can.
New zone u say... i disagree. Its exactly more of the same with slapped green tint on. As for the spiritborn i call it spiritbored. A paladin / crusader would be 100 time better for lore and also different to the classes we currently have. This " all new unseen class" failed big time since spirit born is just a druid with few monk moves and schools of damage are also fire/ poison / storms bla bla.. absolutely everything we have now in other classes while crusader/paladin would bring holy damage and visuals into the game and while very known type it would feel a lot more fresh and new than this spiritborn. My biggest gripe with D4 is that it is build and advertised almost like mmo and online multiplayer 2024 game and it feels like god of war single player. Ppl resort 2 3rd party apps to communicate and do trades , no market/auction , no proper world chat , no lfg system in place and barely any multiplayer modes. Its just one big single player MEH except graphics and the ppl who defend it and enjoy it are mostly some content creators that have thousands of viewers to interact anyways so they cant even feel how lonely this game feels for a massive multiplayer online modern game.

PoE2 appears to be closer to D3's camera where it zooms in and zooms out rather than move the focus based on the character that last moved or attacked (at least from my understanding of using it).
ahh I see what you're saying. Y'know I'd have to revisit D4 couch co-op to say for sure, but the controls are definitely great in POE2
Only thing that still bugs me about POE2 that D4 gets right, is the lack of character customization and the fact they still gender lock their classes like its a 1998 Korean mmo.
he keeps saying that we are getting it but what he is not saying is that we have to pay for it in d4
TORCHLIGHT UNDERRATED AF :/
It’s not the same, man… Torchlight 2 was goated, but the new one is ass
As someone who uses Starlink because I live in a remote location, all I want is an offline mode for POE2. Last Epoch is my go to ARPG because of this. My Internet just doesn't allow for constantly online games sadly.
poe has been working fine for me using starlink havent had any issues in au
@@PremiereGore must be nice. Every 10 min or so my Starlink will lose connection for like 10 seconds while it switches satellites but it's enough to kick me from any online game
If you're interested in a arpg to play offline I'd recommend Grim Dawn if you haven't tried it yet
@@DarkMedic11 yeah I checked that out when it first released. I enjoyed it for sure. Good looks on the suggestion
Semantics for sure, I see your point. I'm just using the wording the devs used
I wish D4’s seasonal model didn’t suck ass but it I’ll be ok sticking with base game characters.
I hope POE2 takes some inspiration from games like Hades.
Every POE spike is a new good season. Every other spike is because someone makes a video talking it up.
To the PC elitists who actively tried to gatekeep people like me from having the mere *OPTION* to play with a controller with native controller support: You lost :)
LOVE playing my PC games with a controller reclined like a lazy bastard on my couch or bed lol
Also love my Logitech G13 + mouse (despite trying out alternatives, the G13 is just.. better. I dont look forward to when it dies)
My keyboard is basically just for typing at this point
I want controller support in basically every game I play though. Its comfortable, IDGAF.
Last Epoch cant hang if they dont come to console.
Yeah.
POE 2 looks better graphically. And it is not zoomed in.
0:11 Shoutout to DM!
WASD movement seems so weird for an arpg
I want to break into Lucky's room and decorate it. 🤣
that's totally fair
Where you cam play diablo levels in path of exile and vice versa ?
ahh the power of having competition to keep you honest.
I just went back to it after 10 years away and now am mad I haven't been playing this whole time
Might be time to pick D4 back up. No lifed it from early access, then set it down during season one lol
Where you can play each other's levels ?
Your voice sounds like young Decard Cain. Newb here in your channel.
Young Deckard Cain, he'll ya I dig it
Not instant looting items? this guys is not a bnet D2 player.
Thankgod I hate when games nerf the difficulty
Anyone Know If they Did away with The EXP loss at Endgame if you die???
POE2 early access can't come soon enough
9:12 This Lag is here from the BETA and its still here in the 90e DLC! :D Just Fck Blizzard
Who made the sorc?
😅
I’m a console player on PS5. I want to play POE but it sucks because the first game isn’t that great on console. I have to wait for POE 2
I think it runs pretty good on console. The controls for some of the menu stuff needs changes
Wheres dwarven realms?
POE 2 will definitely replace POE for me, even with the good changes they made to melee in this league, its still not great.
Would defenetly add MMO concepts to it. Since MMOs have good things as well, and their popularity is decreasing.
I Would like to have battlegrounds and arenas. More depth in the PVP with seasons as well, not only PVE.
I never see the appeal for pvp in these games based around gear.
Im looking to playing both those toughter and titan quest 2 when ever it comes out
can't wait to learn more about TQ2
why are we forced to keep remaking our character over and over again to play a new season. terrible model.
It can't be too terrible otherwise nobody would be playing these games. If you ran the new season content on your already lvl'd character you would be bored in a day
great video!
i just love to read thru comments and see those nonsense PoE vs D4 comments :D guys, play whatever you enjoy.
I miss the days when we were all gamers and just enjoyed games rather than making sure no one played the games we didn't play
I hope so I hope it's not just hype !!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate that spastic rubber band lag on the mount leaving town or area !!!!!!!!!!!!
Lvl 60+”infinite” paragons like Diablo 3?
Lvl 60 sounds likely, but I dont think it will be unlimited again 🤔
Centipede: Kamehame wave
D4 don’t have any skill interaction like POE2 (gas + fire = explosion) and it’s not getting more complex every season because they remove old season mechanics every time. 🤷♂️
Click to move is why I use controller for ARPGs I hate that. WASD is way better
D4 recently added WASD movement
@@Rick.is.Young. holy shit bro i didnt know this! that's great! they should also add infinite dodge and dige cancel like POE2 will have. Combat looks exceptional !
Poe2 is likely still 100000000x more complex than d4 lol
I hate you! Now I'm hyped till the bone! 😂😂. Thx for the great video. Very nice explained.
I rather not have a trade system at all...
Poe 2 will dominate yet again.
Imagine a crossover.. kidding 😂
Brilliant video. I see the diablo4 hate cockroaches entered your comments section. Lol
Every _season_ of PoE is bigger, better and more enxpansive than the entirety of D4. Prove me wrong. 😗
Yeah people who bought a product and didn’t like it are cockroaches.
@@Arkrilok no just the ones who purchased it, didn't like it and spent over a year whining when whether anyone likes something is subjective. Talk about miserable idiots
When they gonna slap on a grizzly summon for Druid and a currency besides gold and uh fix PvP and not have a ballance patch every week lmk
PoE 2 will blow Diablo IV out of the water. The game will be way better.
lol is it just me because I’m a loot head so I just run for loot as soon as I see it. 😂
Controls / movement in PO2 is amazing, so real. You can walk backward and use the bow. I wish this feature to be in Diablo 4.
Is there an option like this in D4 ?
And regarding the loot, you have to fight and loot at the same time, i know you say you like a challenge, but try add 50 years onto yours, and than see if you would say the same, its not youst young people that play, and the young people like you, just cant fathem when some are "complaining", because you see it from your view point, and do not think OH he could be like 70+ years old playing...
And than just think, ah fork off, its not that hard... So please for the love of satan, stop sitting on that high horse, and think every one is young, and should just be able to do it all, because you can.
It ain't that deep grandpa, calm down.
Hi do you know if Path of Exile 2 will let you have a Necromancer who is a Male?
